Simply take the rear view mirror button you would like to program and follow the manufacturer's instructions on how to program a spare remote:

Press button on Garage door opener unit (may be in back or under cover or lich cover) and then press Homelink button and that is it!

After two hours of frustration, I was able to program my remote with the instructions from the homelink. This would be very easy to correct in the owners manual if they had two different set of instructions:

1. for garage door openers manufactured until 1996

2. for openers manufactured after 1996.

and simply write them step by step.

The trick for me was to follow the separate instructions for Canadian owners whihc are slightly different. instead of holding down the garage door remote button constantly, you have to de-press and press the button every 2 seconds until the homelink light flashes quickly.

I just moved into a new house.

The garage opener is by Craftsman..

I looked everywhere for the "learn" button but can't locate it instead i only have the "Program" Button, it tells me the hold down the program button and then press the opener receiver and i can program them all day long.. but i have no such luck with my 2004 Murano... it just won't do it..

I have tried it with the opener receiver-to-the-homelink-button method and it didn't work. I tried the rolling code method and of course it didn't work.. Every time when i did it.. the home link button would blink twice and then stayed slow red..

Help!!

Now of course this is on my unit but my point is the "learn" button is typically up on the motor/assembly unit.

My Craftsman unit has lights on both sides of the motor. The learn button (red/orange square button) as well as other door adjustments are under the right side light cover.

Perform the process using that button etc.

Of course maybe you already have been and it's still not working for you.

i had no problems with my older murano but it somehow wouldn't work without the actual garage motor with the 09!! so happy!!!

Checked the Homelink site and looking at getting a light control for inside the house to make coming home at night a bit safer

I'm just not sure what i'm doing wrong here..

I have the Craftsman 1/2 HR Opener. There is just one button called "Program" Is that the same thing as "learn"?

What i did was:

1) Press the "Program Button"
2) Press & hold the "home link" button for 2 seconds for 3 times

Result: The homelink button just blinks and stays solid red..

Am i missing something here??

I just programmed my Craftsman by following the instructions on the Homelink web site as advised elsewhere in this forum. Ignore the instructions on the side of the opener!

1. For first time training, press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons, releasing only when the HomeLink indicator light begins to flash after 20 seconds. (Do not perform this step when training the additional HomeLink buttons.)
2. Position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink surface (located on your mirror), keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view.

3. Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink button and hand held transmitter button. DO NOT release until the HomeLink indicator light flashes slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released. (The rapid flashing indicates successful training.)

Note: Some garage door openers may require you to replace step 3 with the “cycling” procedure noted in the “View Canadian Instructions” section.

4. Press and hold the trained HomeLink button and observe the indicator light.

If the indicator light is solid/continuous, training is complete and your device should activate when the HomeLink button is pressed and released.
If the indicator light blinks rapidly for 2 seconds and then turns a solid/continuous light, proceed with the following training instructions for a rolling code device. A second person may make the following steps quicker and easier. Please use a ladder or other device. Do not stand on your vehicle to perform the next steps.

5. At the garage door opener receiver (motorhead unit) in the garage, locate the “learn” or “smart” button (usually near where the hanging antenna wire is attached to the unit). If there is difficulty locating the training button, reference the garage door opener’s manual or contact us.
6. Press and release the “learn” or “smart” button (the name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer). NOTE: Once the button is pressed, there are 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step.
7. Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the trained HomeLink button for two seconds and release. Repeat the “press/hold/release” sequence up to 3 times to complete the training process.

The problem is no matter how many times I press the learn button and return to the car to complete the programming, nothing happens. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? My garage door opener is a Genie Screwdrive that I bought a year ago and I haven't had any problem programming other remotes with it using the learn button.
