Okay I was specifically asked to keep this somewhat quiet, because the actual fit kit will not be available for another couple of months (figure late September '06). I went to the U.S. headquarters of a very prominent aftermarket roof rack manufaturer today. You know, the one based in a certain Scandinavian country? They took my car for a couple of hours and fitted it with the complete roof rack, and developed the blueprint for the future fit kit. Once it has been sent in to the main facility and set up for production it will be available.
The best part is that it uses the standard feet and crossbars, so retro fitting should not be a problem on an existing unit (assuming it isn't a gutter mount unit). I will honor their wishes in that I won't post pics for a little while. They don't really want the phone ringing off the hook for a kit that isn't in production yet. I will say though that it meets their usual standards of quality. Grabbing ahold of the bars and shaking for all you're worth only shakes the car around. It looks right on the car also, especially once the fairing was added.
I have to say also, these folks are the real thing. They are extremely commited to sports. I was sitting in the lunch room which is adjacent ot the "bicycle garage". It looked like the Tour de France starting gate with all the nice hardware in there. Nice people, and commited to their product.
