I'm looking at this air razor vortex, it will generate more HP and also a better MPG. But i don't know if this will hurt the engine of my G35 coupe, or if I need to reprogram the computer, since the airflow is different. Please give me your opinion on this product. Below is some discription of the product.

"Save up to 35% On your Gas Bill and Add up to 20% more Power with the Air Razor!! This is a 1 piece Stainless Steel item, with no moving parts, no wires and no power needed. This amazing item simply inserts into the intake tube, and holds itself in place (no modifications to your vehicle necessary). This item was specifically designed to create a vortex (spiraling funnel of air) inside your intake tube allowing the air to travel faster to your motor."

Those "fuel saving devices" don't do a whole hell of a lot except cost you money. I have read at least two articles about those which prove they actually hinder performance and gas mileage. My advice to you, if you want to get better mileage use a lighter right foot. Then throw that waste of money away and drive like a 90 year old woman in you 300 horse car.

Ask yourself why Nissan would not have used such a device to save the $1700 in Federal Gas Guzzler Tax paid per G35 sold in US to improve mpg up to the next grade level surely saving $400 per car if they could just get 1.0 mpg improvement.

The combine city plus highway must average 22.5 mpg to be tax free.

Definitely does not work. The last argument I heard from a company that makes a product like this is that it speeds up air by forcing it to change direction. While this is true (Bernoulli's Principle), what is also true is that you get a pressure drop behind the foil. Less pressure means there is less density of air. YOu would get the same effect simply by putting a restriction in the intake stream. And actually, these devices are just that...a restriction in the intake stream. There are no physics that could support that these devices actually do any good.

As we point out repeatedly much of the automotive aftermarket equipment sales depends on the technological ignorance [poor scientific education] of the buying public.

Although it's probably not necessary, the thing looks like garbage, a dyno test would definately put the issue to rest.
