Could be that this is definitely in the wrong section. Has nothing to do with the KA24.

Did you mess with any of the wiring in the car at all before this happened?

Check the plastic grommet on the brake pedal that contacts the brake light switch. If this peice has disentigrated, there is nothing for the brake light switch to contact and it remains on all the time, hence the brake lights stay on all the time.

Get down on your hands and knees. Its about half way up the brake pedal itself. There is a little square block of metal that sticks out to the left side (IIRC) with a hole in it where a plastic grommet should be. Chances are that grommet has disentigrated and now the brake light switch has nothing to contact and thus never closes. If that piece is still there, then the possible culprit might be the brake light switch itself, which is right there.

Yeah, both filaments of the bulb will probably be lit when the brakes are on. The low is lit when the brakes are off but the running lights are on. It really sounds like a problem with the brake light switch and/or grommet.

I have had the same problem -- just two days ago. I stumbled upon the answer at this web page: http://z31.com/brakepedal.shtml

In short, your brake pedal stoppers might be shot. They get hardened and brittle with age, crack and break. I found both mine in pieces on my floor. (I'm glad I don't vaccum very often).

Here is the recommeded part information from ZBum:Order these parts from you Nissan dealer. 2 of 46584-S0100 = $1.76 each 1 of 46512-H0101 = $0.91 each (manual transmission only)

Incidentally, my model is a 1986 300zx non-turbo.

sorry if this is the wrong thread -- thought I'd just post this info since others might be looking here for the answer.
