IIRC, there's a white G50 spoiler on ebay right now.

while they are close in design, the 97+ is a much sleeker and longer, and in my opinion better looking than the 90 96. the question is...will it go on easily? or is it not the same trunk curves. and i wont be using bodo unless there is a small gap and im anal retentive. ive never used bondo to fill anything except small stupid things. i wont be blending it into the car if it works, it will sit a top the trunk as if it was stock.

wes, heres some pics to show you. note the name of your pic

so does it seem possible to be easily done? or should i leave the car the way it is and look like everyone else with no concept of individuality???

Hey any chance some one can photoshop a 1990-1993 G50 Q45 with a FGY33 trunk spoiler.

And does anyone know the measurments of the G50 and the FGY33 spoilers?

I ask because I too think the OEM 1990(1*)-1996(4*) kind of kills the look of the rear end. The FGY33 spoiler looks better and does'nt look like its in the way or just thrown on there.

*I think these are the years the Spoiler was offered only on Q45t's, Other cars that are not Q45t's had the spoiler added on at the dealer or DIY.

Since I am using his picture might as well give a shout out: zer...0-obo

Someone wants to add a spoiler different from stock, and you suggest to sell the car....... Way to be a supportive forum member. Why is it that anything that is one slight bit away from stock, you bash the owner? Maybe you should give in and buy that Toyota Camry you have always wanted.

EDIT: The only people I could condone for carrying on like this, are the ones trying to restore a classic to to original, factory spec. The G50 will never be called a classic worthy of this kind of treatment.

Well I have to disagree with you there. The G50 may become a collectible but if it does'nt so what I will ALWAYS LOVE MY CAR.

Now Bump...Is there no one with a FGY33 with a trunk spoiler that can pull out the tape measure?

Ok, but is your car totally, bog stock standard? Do you think it is the kind of car that people will hunt the planet for the few remaining original factory parts to make the car a concourse standard vehicle in 30 years? (eg, like a '57 chev , or a 240Z?)

I don't believe the G50 will become a classic, worthy of this level of commitment. That is what i meant by my last post.

I also meant that maxnix willingly bashes forum members for changing ANYTHING on their G50.... for example Paul, you want the JDM folding mirrors, yes? Well, I am afraid you fall into the targeted category. Everything must be factory, including light bulbs.....

My main point was that this is a car enthusiast forum, where 99% of the members have, or want to change the configuration of their vehicles, to personalise them... make them unique.... hence the OP asking about mating a Y33 spoiler to a G50.... He wanted to be different.

Hell, even AZHitman has a stack of cars that have been modified, including a G50, but I am yet to see maxnix bash him for changing the wheels on it..... I guess it's ok to pick on the little guy/noob though huh?

Well I agree on constant knocking is no good for the forum. One of the reasons I don't visit here often. People want help not ridicule.

Must say though I had a chuckle with Brian's response this time. The original post invited it, and even heywier427 obviously realised what he'd said. Brian certainly never said he was against modification here, and I too cringed at being "a whiz with body filler" - seen a little too much of that in second hand cars over the years.

Actually did buy a car once even though there was a lot so I could use it as a donor. Someone put a lot of time into precisely building up a new surface over more than half of one badly beaten in but solid and rust free body panel, including many curves and (artificial) body joints. Impressed me enough that I made a couple of quick templates off the good side of the car to compare to the filled side. Couldn't find a single spot even in the trickier reverse curves that was out by even 0.5 mm.

Anyway, sorry I can't supply any measurements. Just thought you might want to see an Australian's attempts at a G50 spoiler. Not exactly my cup of tea, but interesting.

I try to get along with everyone for the most part. But I can kinda see why Maxnix (Brian) is the way he is. And its because he has been here since the Yahoo board (http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/infinitiownersclub/) and thats a very very long time and I bet he has seen almost everthing when it comes to the Q45. But honestly I think the Q45 will become a collectible...I mean why should'nt it.

But if it does or it does'nt become a collectible there will still be at least 30 active NICO members who love there cars. But the good part about me is that I only spend $50 max on projects for my car. Anything more than that and it goes on a to-do list. But I have to agree with Brian that you should have a near new or a Q thats damn close before you decide what you want to do with it. And if you have a damn near new Q I am sure many would decide against the mods they want to do.
