Hi everyone. I purchased my '06 M35 last month and am having trouple with my bluetooth connection. I have an echo problem. When I am talking to someone they hear themselves echo back into their phone when they talk to me. They sound fine on my end in the car. I have verizon and my phone is a Motorola V710. The Infiniti dealer already replaced the microphone in the car and it helped. Now, it is random. Usually when I first make the connection they hear themselves echo, then after a few seconds it goes away. Sometimes it returns. Very frustrating. I don't know if it's the model phone or still a problem with the new mic. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I also had Verizon give me a new phone but it's the same V710 model.Thanks.

Hmmm ... if it is not on your end, it sounds like (no pun intended ) the echo cancellation on their phone is not working properly.

Does it happen with everybody, or only a few people (i.e., their phone might be the one with the problem)?

There is a page at http://www.infiniti.com that outlines how to set-up various BT devices. Dont have the URL with me.

Z,

Wish it was the case. It happens with everyone. Again today, the person I was talking to had a bad echo for the first 10 seconds or so, then, it goes away. That is better than before when it never went away.T

Hmmm. I do not know what is happening. All I can suggest is to read some of the Bluetooth threads we have had here (some are quite recent) and try our the suggestions for settings, etc.

You might also try a different model of Verizon phone (at your local Verizon store - they should be receptive to try something out) and see if that alters the behavior.

Z,Trying a different verizon phone has been on my mind. I just hope they are cooperative. As far as the settings go, I did go into the settings as per the tech support and tried all three levels, low, medium (the default) and high. The best seems to be the high setting. It looks like my next stop is verizon. Thanks for your input.T :

M35 / M45 Secret Diagnostic Mode

"The 'M' has a "DIAGNOSTIC MODE" that is not documented.Follow these steps to enter [at your own risk] into the diagnostic mode.

- Start Engine [required if you want to see all available diagnostic options]- Turn OFF the Audio system- While pushing the SETTING button, rotate the radio's VOLUME control either clockwise or counter-clockwise 30+ clicks.- You will then be put into the diagnostic mode.- Use the BACK button to get to previous screens.

NOTE:Holding down the SETTING button and rotating the volume knob a 2nd timewill put the diagnostic mode into a more "detailed" state offering more options.

------

Diagnostic Mode - CELL PHONE VOLUME

One potential use of the diagnostic mode is to improve the sound quality of your cell phone.

- The diagnostic mode has an option "Handsfree Volume Adjustment".- The default setting for this option is "MED".- Setting the volume to "HIGH" may improve the sound quality of your bluetooth compatible cell phone.

------

Diagnostic Mode - BACKUP CAMERA

The Diagnostic Mode has an option to adjust the BACKUP CAMERA.

- While cruising in your 'M', you can enter the Diagnostic Mode [see above] and go to the "Backup Camera" adjustment screen. When you are in this menu, the Backup Camera turns on.

Thanks for the idea. I already did this and tried all 3 settings. Today it was so bad that the person I had on the phone told me they can't talk the echo is so bad and I had to hang up. Could it be the model phone??T

I have had the same echo problem (or should I say those calling my phone have a problem) and tweaking any or all settings (even in diagnostic mode) does not help. It doesn't matter which type of phone is calling me. My phone is a Samsung 920 which other people in the forums suggest works perfectly in their cars. Does this indicate a problem with my m35x or my settings?

Instead of increasing the volume of outgoing sound decrease it. This will result in less or no echo. you do not need to go to service menus. just when phone is paire go to setings and select audio and then there is to volume setting: one for incoming sound volume and the other one for outgoing sound volume. lower the second one. this will work. let me know if you got more questions.

ps. my friend and i both had this problem both with razr phones. i lowered my volume and he increased it his problem got worse mine went away.

Good luck.

Infinititech1; I have the unfortunate problem of having a Verizon TREO650 that is completely incompatible with the M35 (although my salesman LIED to me about it and said it WAS compatible). I have been trying to get an answer from Palm, Verizon, or Infinit about when this problem will be addressed, but no luck. I have seen a few posts on other forums about TREO650's from other providers that do work with the M; are you aware of any? I'm willing to switch providers if it will save me the cost of new phones. Thanks.

Is there a headphone jack? I think the problem is a blunder... the front speaker is aimed right at the microphone (under the rear view mirror)...

If no headphone jack, is there a way to use the wireless headphones that come with the DVD system?

i would say have someone you know with a compatible phone test it and if theres works fine then you need a new phone...if someone elses does the same thing the bluetooth actual unit needs to be replaced

I called Infiniti today. They acknowledged that they have a problem with the Bluetooth but apparently it does not happen to all cars and they are working on a repair. In the mean time, I downloaded the list of compatible phones. Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with either the Blackberry 7130e or the Palm Treo 700w. I am frustrated and the dealer has not been much help. They told me to turn down the volume on the car and turn up the volume on the phone. Been there, done that (no luck). It seems to me like Infiniti is burying their heads in the sand with this problem.

I am stunned that I am not the only who is livid about this issue. I will keep posting until Infiniti acknowledges my problem. I called the dealer and they gave me a very weak solution that didn't work. Then I called Infiniti's support line and got very little support (other than the acknowledgement that they have a problem). IS ANYONE HAVING A GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH THEIR BLUETOOTH CELL PHONE CONNECTION?

I will not go away until somebody from Infiniti helps me. (I hate to complain but I am very very frustrated)... (can you tell)?

Yes, I have had no real complaints (RAZR V3 & T-Mobile). The phone was very easy to sync up and I have had no real problems.

I don't know why you think the Treo 650 is incompatible with the M. I have a Sprint Treo 650 and a 2006 M45. I paired the 2 up within 30 seconds over 2 months ago and have been working perfectly ever since.

As regards to the echo. I have noticed that there is a substantial difference in voice quality with the Bluetooth based upon where my phone is placed. I tend to leave it in the slot in the center console. That appears to be where I get the best performance.

From a bluetooth point of view every carrier is apparently different or at least potentially different. See all the separate OS updaters at:

http://www.palm.com/us/support...dater/

My Verizon Treo 650 does connect with the M series but treats the car as though it were a giant passive bluetooth ear piece i.e. the car can receive calls but not make them. (My Treo treats my Treo-brand ear piece the same way.) A work-around is to hit the Phone button which forces a reconnection, but the Treo disconnects in about 10 seconds unless a call command has been completed in that time.

When I called Verizon customer support six or so months ago, they told me that Verizon does not support Treo 650 bluetooth connections to cars. The end. No further comment. Thanks for using Verizon.

But that is a peculiarity of Verizon Treo 650's. At least some other carriers have different bluetooth modules in their OS package and apparently don't have this problem. Reportedly Verizon Treo 700's don't have the problem either. One hacker on this forum reported he was able to use a different carrier's bluetooth module in his Verizon phone and it all worked. Why Verizon hasn't fixed it is beyond me - but I did downrate Verizon to last place in a quality survey because of it.

Palm has posted an updated OS for the Treo 650 Verizon version that fixes all my bluetooth issues on the M. The new OS version is 1.05a. It is located here:http://www.palm.com/us/support....html

I have only used it for ten or fifteen minutes today, but the problems of the phone disconnecting in a few seconds seem solved, the antenna signal strength now displays on the vehicle nav screen and so forth.

Updating was fairly easy. Reinstalling third party applications that do not conform to the standard Palm backup-and-reinstall system was a time consuming pain.

But the phone works now!

Just found NicoClub and it's great. I have a 2006 Infiniti M35X and have a Sprint Treo 700p. Since I leased the car last June 2006 I have always had the echo problem with the person on the other end of the line hearing their voice echo. I try turning down my sound but doesn't always help. Some people accept it, others find it annoying. Will go to the dealer now that I read I'm not alone. Just this week, my bluetooth started acting up in a different way. I can use voice command to dial out but must use the phone to talk and hear. It's not connecting through the cars speaker. Can't find anything in the maual to fix it or in the settings. Any ideas.

I also have the same issue. I will bring it to a dealer as well. Has anyone had luck getting the problem fixed?

I have a BB Curve.

Good luck at getting it fixed. We bought two 2007 M45 Sports as work cars. My partners came off the lot. Mine I had to wait for as it was still in the process of being imported. They gave me a loaner M45 Sport to use until mine came in.

Both Cars had terrible echo and road noise. We did the recommended settings and it only helped a little. When my new car came in they had made a change to try and fix it. My MIC is up by the visor now and the ones in the center overhead have been disabled. My car is 80% better then my partners now but still not right. My partner has been trying to get this mod done by the dealer for 3 months now to no avail.

It is sad that a car that costs this much has an issue like this and it is not getting resolved. I use a Parrott in my other cars and it does not have any of these problems....
