Since I've been in the market, I have noticed the extreme prices some people want for their Broken Q's. This is in all the places I've looked. $2000 for a 91Q that doesn't shift and the transmission is grinding and body damage, $4000 for a non running 94 Q with a hole in the fender. Ebay has been particularly bad of late. Dealers listing cars a $100 and asking $5000 for a 90Q with 250K???? These are just some examples of the super high prices for a car which just declined in price.

I remember that thread! Since I've been looking the prices are the opposite, all very expensive. Yes people have been selling them for way more then they are worth. I'm wondering if the overall depreciation in price hasn't caused a buying of these Q's by parts houses and salvage yards swinging the price back the other way? Most of the Q's I've looked at are being sold by dealerships and salvage yards who have never had Q's to sell before. Ask my friends about me being slightly ticked in the prices of a wrecked, non-running, little work needed Q. It's like people are just now hearing about the Luxury of the Old G50's and have no idea of what will be needed to fix them up right.

Q's are simply being bought by whoever due to the very low overall price and being resold for 3 to 4 times that price.

Really good those that only need $5,000 vs the crappy that need $11-$15,000 worth of work?

That's it exactly! They are being sold "as if" they don't need work, but we here know they will. It's like they are being priced like once you buy it you're good to go with nothing to do to the car instead of buying it cheap and putting a few thousand to get it right. It's a cyclical cycle I hope!

Check out how many dealerships are selling the G50's on their used lots or are listing them on line somewhere. I've never seen so many before! It has to be the recent depreciation at work here.

You have to remember, most people in the world :even dealers:, dont know jack about cars/prices/reliability/issues etc. We happen to be the lucky informed.

Come to Kansas to buy a Q. Any G50 here will run you 3-4k and up.

And for that price your lucky if it has decent tires/seats that arent trashed/ itll have a trashed bose system/some power functions wont work/and I wont even mention the body/paint/engine condition/mileage etc etc.

Yes people buy them, Q's go fast around my way. Are the people misinformed? Id say so.

I paid the right price for mine because I got it from a family friend and had trolled on these boards for about 6 months before getting it. Thanks to the people here, I knew about the guides and what to look for. thanks:)

That being said, if I personally was looking at cars and saw MY G50 for sale, Id maybe expect to pay 3-3.5k.

Id bet it be safe to say I could sell it to somebody in KC for 6-6.5k easily.

I couldnt do that though, its just not right. lol!

Some of the q's on here could easily pull 10-12k on street dealers lots. Still dont understand why they sell the way they do.

This all reminds me of an old saying that goes something like this,

"...it's not the fool that asks, but the fool that gives."

You're right. It's just the high prices on the negleted, wrecked and messed up Q's that really ticks me. The running ones are fine actually, but man,..give a redhead a break on the broken down ones.

Kinda sucks for me....as I think I have a exceptionally nice Q for sale but it seems like it doesn't add up to jack. With dealers and people who think they have a wonderful piece of crap to sell at higher prices, it actually hurts the ones who do have a nicer one on the market. I think it decreases the value of mine (already an uphill battle to get any real money from it) if there's some gray area inbetween "truely nice condition" and "perceived nice condition".

Have you tried eBay? I've seen some Q's go for some exorbitant prices! Yours being what it is, a very nice Q, could get what your are looking for it. In your case you may have a higher reserve, but you do have a sweet Q. As long as you list EVERYTHING about your Q, I bet there is someone out there who wants it. I've seen a 91 go for $5,600 recently and they didn't have the chain guides done and no maint records! Might be worth a try. ???

Thanks for the insight. I wonder what the fees are to sell it on Ebay? I may give that a try but in the back of my mind I actually want to hold onto my Q! Still looking to reasons and excuses daily to keep it (man, I love this thing!). I haven't driven it in 2 weeks trying to break the ties but it just sits there calling me over to it. Damn.

For a passenger vehicle it's $40 to list it and $40 when the bid ends plus a slight commission. If it doesn't sell then you can re-list it with a refund type deal so your not paying twice. I'd suggest going on the Q45 page and checking out how they list them and describe the Q's for sale. Mention how yours is better then most, how clean it is, how well taken care of and most importantly come across like you know the Q45. Take lots of pics!!

Most have started with a low opening bid, but have higher reserves. Most of the action takes place on the last two days of the auction.
