its been a long time coming but shes almost done... strangely i lost my alternator bolt... so i have to get a new one of them. Thanks a bunch to NICO's knowledge and special thanks to fiznat for answering all my stupid questions.

Dont worry about the cam positioning in that pic, the intake and exhaust cams got mixed up, but the problem has been fixed.

the Intercooler has been lowered a bit since that picture...

thats not me, thats my friend.

I just want to see what i can get out of this turbo, and if I want more, Ill upgrade.

I should have more pictures tomorrow.fiz when the hell are you coming up? im tired of looking at your shift knob and italian leather shift boot.

Ok got all the brakes hooked up today, radiator all hooked up, got her more- timed, and started working on the manifold.I still havent found my alternator bolt, and my radiator cap had to get used on my koyo racing radiator for my prelude (cos freggin koyo doesnt give you radiator caps, nor do they make their radiators have OEM sized caps )

Heres me declairing JIHAD on my JGS log manifold

looks like Johnny-5 from short circuit after he gets his *** kicked in the ally-way.

there she is, in the bay.

the thrilling conclusion to my long battle with the rust.

word of advice with that jgs, DO slot that flange. do it do it do it do it. the mani is great and it is probably bulletproof but the flange is so thick that it needs the slots to allow for the heat expansion. it'll save u the hassle of the flange being warped. its looking good tho man. keep up the good work.

was that an arc welder you used? LOL that was funny what you said your car looked like... johnny 5 from short circuit after getting his *** kicked LOL. that is exactly what it reminded me of when i read that. ill be doing the same thing here shortly.

MIG welder was used for the thin stuff (the up-pipe flange) and arc welder was used for everything els. Hopefully ill get it up and running right on tuesday, and to the exhaust shop on thursday. Im so excited, cant concentrate in school cos all i wanna do is leave and go work on the car, that and its getting REALLY nice outside. (its oficially summer, I turned my heater control valve in my prelude to "cold". This is harder than normal cos the cable in my interior is broken so i have to manually open the hood and flip the valve).

Well today I finally got my *** to a junkyard and got an alternator bolt. Everything is hooked up, I just need some belts. I made my fitting for my oil line (M10-1.5 to 1/8 NPT), and slotted the manifold. Originally I had a Sawzall with a "Destruction and Rescue" pure metal blade, but that was destroyed after about 1 " of cutting, so it was back to the tried and true hacksaw method (lemme tell ya, it was one hell of a cardio workout)

Heres the god-awful sawzall, and the trusty hacksaw

first cut

second cut

Third cutI only took this many pictures of the cutting, cos i was winded after each one, and needed an excuse to take a break and kill a 25 cent soda from wally world

heres my totally awesome oil line fitting (with a second bolt head welded on to the first to provide enough meat to drill and tap for a fitting) a 17mm wrench fits like a glove

sorry for the crappy quality pic, ill try to get another one.

-Thar she blows, manifold on. This car WILL move under its own power by thursday. Im planning on doing a midnight run to the exhaust shop with a bunch of my friends in a convoy, with no hood and no front bumper, and with open exhaust.

damn bro, i feel your pain all the way over here from using that hack saw. and you have to get some video coverage of the midnight run. you should make a 3 ft pipe that goes straight up in the air just for the cannon ball run.

video is gonna be tough, especially at night (video never comes out well at night). Im going to be mainly concentrating on not getting pulled over. The plan is this. If a cop somehow sees me in the convoy and pulls me over, one of my friends does something incredibly stupid and dangerous in an attempt to get the cop to go after him, while i run away. (ie, my friend does a brake-stand to donut in front of the cop while yelling FREGGIN PIG!, and throwing a bottle of booze at him)

Good work! And nice shop you got there. Did you assemble the motor yourself? Is it harder to pull (actually reinstall) the motor with the transmission still in there?? Seems like it'd be twice as hard to line everything up.

Fiz, I <3 Smokey and the Bandit, so much so I was just listening to Jerry Reed's (the Snowman) Eastbound and Down.

yeah if i had to do it again, id pull it and re-install it with the transmission. As for today, I went to the garage with intentions of basically finishing the 240 and getting it ready for the exhaust shop, but alas, the 240 gods were not with me, as i blew a wheel bearing in my prelude Daily driver and had to fix that, along with rear brakes, and I cant get the wheel bearing until at least tomorrow, so my friend boner has to drive my *** to class. (foster, you remember boner right?) Anyway, i did get some stuff done. heres the pics:

theres boner, helping to ripp out the wheel bearing.

freshly painted prelude brakes with new pads. enough on the prelude, time for the better car

the turbo is IN!

something tells me im going to have to screw with that oil fitting some more That heat shield looks pretty good though

Good luck with that downpipe angle, exhaust shop guy!

thats all for now guys, for some reason i cant seem to find my power steering belt. I have one, but it doesnt fit at all, leading me to beleive its just some random belt that got mixed in with my crap.... soo close...

oops, forgot to answer some questions, No, i Didnt assemble the short block myself, but I did assemble the timing, put the head on, etc. Also, that isnt "my" shop, but I do work for the guy from time to time helping him fix cars and whatnot, but yes, it is quite the sweet shop for my project and i appreciate it very much.Smokey and the bandit is the ****e, and i fully intend to watch it while eating chinese food in the near future, but for now, im going to enjoy some more sam adams summer ale

yo man, i hope you arent done with the way the turbo is sitting. you have got to clock that thing so the oil inlet is sitting on the very top of the center section or else.........

Im not entirely sure this turbo is clockable, first of all, there are no bolts to loosen to clock it (only some weird steel belt type thing), secondly, the waste-gate actuator is bolted to the compressor housing, so if i turn it, it will throw off the alignment of the shaft.

its clockable. that band is just one bolt, loosen it, and that will let it spin freely from the exhaust. for the compressor side take out that big *** snap ring and the center will spin freely from both housings and the compressor can sit how it is.

Is this more to your liking J-Z?

I had to re-locate the waste-gate actuator, and clocked the turbo.

I got some oil and coolant lines in, and stripped a vacuum fitting on the compressor housing

ah, there she is... ill have to drill that out and tap it for some barbed fitting from home depot or something.

I think my valve timing is messed up, Im currently awaiting some pictures from fiznat to make sure its dead on. ill keep you all posted.

wait i just noticed you didnt spin the compressor from the center section. whys not? see some custom WG work as well too. either way it works and you wont have a blown turbo on your first break in ride.

I figure I can clean my car by replacing one part at a time
