What do you mean by no trans?Chezedik wrote:Well that is what happens when you drive a car w/o a trans. The weight distributes very well.
It is a coupe.........C6's are coupes as well. There are C5 hard tops/coupes/convertibles. The hard tops are essentially a base model, and if I am buying a Vette....I don't want a ****ing base model.S14tat wrote:awww i was hoping it was a coupe model. i miss the C5 coupes, the C6 needs to come in a coupe form.
heh reminds me of when my brother first put his vette on a lift, at first i though wtfudge, then i remembered about transaxles.virus77 wrote:I think he meant a car with a transaxle as opposed to 240's where the transmission is connected to the motor.
Hmm didn't know that it was a hatchback. The insurance has it listed as 2dr Coupe, 2dr Convertible, 2dr Hardtop. The steering wheel isnt' that bad, it's just big... The shift knob is HORRIBLE and I hate the stock shifter. I was out driving my 240 today and I LOVED the shifting in that compared to the Vette to be honest. My C6 Z06 shift knob comes in next week from GM. I am gonna take some pics of my 240 and Vette side by side before they come to take the 240 away.virus77 wrote:Awesome price man, keep us updated on how you like it, Im still considering going that route. So have you thought about changing the horrible steering wheel and shift knob, I think it will improve the car feel alot. And yours is actually a hatchback, the zo6s are all coupe/hardtop and they offered it in the 2001 and up models. However you are right, on the non z06 model, it is the base model.
yeh, no reason to not to go with 1 of these http://www.turbochargedpower.com/Corvette.htm tho vette's aren't 100% sleepers(lol)...you could still get them twin-screw or twin-turbo cobra's(& better).grimple1 wrote:No reason not to turbo the LS1.
The public is a little reluctant to accept drive by wire for failure reasons but according to my friend that designs the software for these systems, they are actually far more reliable than a mechanical system due to less moving parts. In fact most modern aircraft use a fly by wire setup.Chezedik wrote:Yes, it uses a drive by wire, transaxle, as opposed to a transmission and differential. It is more complicated but shifts weight to the back, and saves a little. The beef is there won't be any linkage for the shifter on a manual transmission, so no road feel. Also, I don't think there is any redundancy factored in. So if it fails, then I guess that is it.
