We have all had electrical connection gremlins--auto,stereo, etc. and they are growing more difficult to trace and fix. After quite a bit of research--including the military aero-space community of electronic techs, the attached link is to THE BEST stuff there is for electrical connectors--PERIOD.

""The BORG-WARNER brand CL85 Contact Enhancer provides a reliable, low-toxicity alternative to repetitive contact-cleaning treatments. The BORG-WARNER brand ...http://www.borgwarnerbrand.com/whatsnew/bwn22.html ""

Borg Warner rebrands 'Stabilant-22', which is manufactured in Canada. I talked with the manufacturer , who sell to the Defense Dept, IBM, Xerox, and others. Their Agreements with OEM's, auto mfg's and parts suppliers prevent them from retailing the stuff unfortunately.

It MAY be possible to do a group buy of larger quantity of the concentrate (retail stuff is ready to use 5/1 dilution with isopropyl alcohol.) I may be able to use my business name&credit card or check to buy undiluted and repackage for NICO members if ther eis sufficient interest.

Borg-Warner part # CL-85 is available throuh good parts houses- that carry Borg-Warner merchandise---and is usually 'order to customer request' since it is $58 +/- for 10 ml of the diluted ready to apply stuff and almost nobody knows about this stuff--a few 'The electronics/electrical problem fixer in town'.guru's use the stuff and keep quiet about it--a drop of this stuff permanently fixes a bad connection and $$$ get billed for knowing how to fix it.

It takes a very very tiny drop to do the MAF sensor connector for instance--and they include several tiny swab type applicators.

I have researched the real technical aspects of this stuff and find most ALL the high end video and sound recording studios now use it on all their connections to improve signal-to-noise ratios and reduce harmonic distortion. Most military electronic techs have it in their kits since it is now availabe to them under a Federal Stock Number and endorsed by all the component/box suppliers, all Xerox service techs, all IBM mainframe computer service techs, etc.

I use dit on my wife's 92Q45a MAF and temp gauge connectors--both of which were repeatedly troublesome even using the best other stuff I had found. CL-85 WORKS as advertised. It also quieted a noisy gold plated input connection on a high end stereo amplifier-resulting in total silence instead of a detectable hiss on quiet signals.

I can swear by CL-85.

ALL Q45 DIY and shops/techs should have and use this stuff on all the connections. no more MAF connector proplems--period.

So, is the Borg Warner product the only channel, or will you stock some for redistribution? Need some for my older non IC controlled McIntosh pots.

I'd be interested. I have some Deoxit that claims to do the same thing but I'm almost out.

I'll say this one more time for emphasis-- Stabilant 22 (rebranded as CL-85 by Borg Warner) is FAR superior to anything else out there--deoxit, radio shack, etc. Any fixed electrical connection will benefit from using it. The IPA merely acts as a diluent for the 'stuff', which is a high tech 'semi-conductive polymer' that acts as an insulator between adjacent pins, but as an excclent conductivity improver in the joint.

this stuff will not work in a make/break switch or potientometer application--only for fixed 'permanent' (take apart type connections.

When I first read this I thought, "then what's the point?" I mean, i'd just use silver solder. Then I read that you said take apart connectors.

I'm reading up on the Stabilant 22 that you speak of.

Check this site:

http://www.micro-tools.com/Merchant2/deox.htm

Features a kit of 5 ml of Stabilant that is mixed to make 38 ml of Stabilant 22. Price is $38. Close to reasonable.

I'll go in with a group buy... I know some others who may join in too.I am glad they took freon spray off the market, but without it I've felt crippled. This sounds better.

Could these solve the common stereo display problem using this? If so, how? AFAIK, the problem with the Bose HU display is that there is a cold solder connection somewhere in the circuit. That's why the display comes sometimes comes back on after the car has been running for a while. There used to be a thread about this in the J30/M30 forum, but I can't find it anymore.

Anyway, back to my question: is this a possible solution for the intermittent display on the Bose head unit? If so, how?

I bought the $35(?) bottle at http://www.micro-tools.com earlier this fall. "A little dab will do ya" with this stuff.
