You've just bought a relatively new pre-owned car. It's a beauty. Just the one you wanted, with all the goodies and power you dreamed of. You worked hard for it, you deserve it!
But the factory warranty is either about to, or already has, run out.
You KNOW you need a warranty, since even seemingly minor problems can be pricey if you're going "out-of-pocket", especially at $100+ per hour.
There's simply no need to buy an aftermarket warranty through the dealer. Most dealer warranties are the SAME as you can buy aftermarket (I have owned two, and they were SPECTACULAR), plus you don't pay the dealer markup. They all use one of about 3 underwriting companies, and a warranty is nothing more than an insurance policy.
Many dealers will tell you their warranty is superior in some way or another, but DON'T be fooled - not true.
My personal experience with an aftermarket extended warranty: When I bought my 1995 Q45t, I immediately shopped for an extended warranty, as the factory warranty was about to run out. The one I settled on was 30K miles (went from 75K to 105K), or 4 years, cost me $1500 (payable over 1 year, NO interest), I could take my car to ANY dealership, get a loaner, and a $50 deductible each time. Your results may vary, but suffice it to say I was VERY pleased with my coverage.
