Is it absolutely nessesary to remove the dash of a 240 to extract (and install the next wiring harness and ECU) the complete wiring harness? I will be using a RB25det wiriing harness and ECU.

Not at all unless you are using the rb25det interior harness. Get a friend feed the old harness out and its a pain in the butt to get the new harness back in. Some people take out the dash to remove the evap core and a/c and it makes it easier but unless you want extra work or to take the a/c out then no.-Alex

no need to remove the dash, do remove the glove box, however-- it'll make life easier to reach down there.

OK AFTEr thinking it long and hard, i did not feel taking out the dash and removing the evap unit...

/with that said i got my dewalt sawzall and took 30 seconds to cut the support bracket from the blower motor to firewall...Yes it was that easy...I pulled the harness thru with the slightest of ease...

when i reinstall the harness i will expoxy weld the support bracket back on FTW

I guess not having a/c to worry about makes a difference? I didn't have a single bit of trouble when removing mine--oh wait, minus disconnecting the white plug above the ecu...just pulled it out bit by bit myself.

Not a huge fan of cutting anything...

Holy thread revival!

This thread is so old that the info in it doesn't really apply anymore. The ECU plug and dash plug on the engine harness can be fed through the OEM hole in the firewall. It is kind of a PITA, but it can be done without using a sawzall. LOL To each his own I guess.

well since we're grave digging...I'm curious about the "FerrariTruck"

Now, I'm assuming you have a Dodge Ram truck right? Did you ACTUALLY put a ferrari motor in there? OR (looking at your post) Have someone put a ferrari motor in there for you?

OR...Do you have the Ram with the SRT-10 motor? Which is from a Viper?

Please clear this up for me as I'm very curious AND confused.

I was able to feed the wires thru the hole even thought the connector was beeotch to unplug.

but i thought long and hard of a way to get it out and removal of that bracket was the only way..

Did i comprimise the integrity? slightly, but eh..

Did i save my self aggravation and frustration? You better believe it!

both harness are at the sr20 store getting converted now
