There is a big thread on this issue in our forums. Please do a search ... You may need to print it out and take it with you to the dealer and push them to give you a fix. If the car is out of warranty, then you need to push them a bit - may need to contact Infiniti Corporate about the issue.Z

Quote, originally posted by kingpin35 Has anyone had a problem with their fuel gauge I have a 2004 M45 and ran out of gas the other day. My gauge showed over a 1/4 tank and the computer said 90 more miles until empty. Very common problem among Y34s (mine for one). If you ultimately want it fixed, it will take a trip to the dealership to have the gauge cluster replaced.

If you can't get it fixed I recommend you put a fixed amount of gas in (I use 10 gallons) and reset your trip odometer. If you are pretty sure you get say 16 MPG then you should get 10 more gallons when you get to about 140 miles. It will work with any number of gallons but it's easier to do the math with 10 gallons and if you do the same every time you get gas you won't have to remember how much you put in each time.My M45 seems to be accurate, but I had a Jeep Cherokee that did what yours is doing.

Mine is the oposite problem. Shows I am empty when I still have about 5 gallons left in the tank.
