Always nice when the problem turns out to be something simple (and not expensive).

Probably just need to adjust your dash lighting dimmer. Dash lights are supposed to dim when you turn the headlights on, but if you have the dimmer turned down enough they will turn off completely.

I have owned a 2001 I30 for the past 4 years without an ounce of problems until now. We drive the car with the light switch in the "auto" position, which as you probably know, the headlights come on when it gets dark. What's happening now is that when the headlights come on, the dash, radio and heater lights go off. If I turn the switch to put the lights on manually, they come on, but still no dash lights. When the headlights are off, the dash lights are on. I checked the fuses under the dash and everything looks fine. Please advise. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.Mike
