Finally! took her in for the swap friday!

so i'm getting a new used tps and icv, and chipping my na ecu to tt specs with an upgrade to 555's and to allow for 15psi hopefully this will take care of my richness and the bogging and fluctuating idle. if anyone wants to buy that mines tuned ecu off me after i take it out let me know i dont have the time to try and get it to work i'm leaving for school in like a month. i'm also going to install my boost gauge so i can see wtf's going on with my boost cuz i dont feel like i'm getting all 9.5lbs. oh and new front brakes.

my dad uses the corolla and my mom uses the suburban. It's not that hard, just run the line out your hood and into the car just to check boost pressure so you don't have to dick around with drilling a hole through your firewall under the dash blah blah blah..

like i said you'll need two other things like a nylon tube connector (looks like a small rubber boot and a nylon tee fitting so you can tee your nylon tube into one of your vacuum lines.

sunpro kit:

also i'm going to chip my na ecu up to tt specs and get rid of this mines joint cuz its jut not working right for my car. do you know how to socket an ecu so i can just plug and unplug chips as i upgrade?

that is why your detonating buddy you got stock injectors that are only good to 15 psi your pushing harder then it can pump out the gas when you push hihger then 15, that is your reason for detonation

from what i remember stock intercoolers were good for about 500-600 hp and stock turbos can be boosted to 18 as long as you have the right things in place to not cause detonation like increased fuel flow,good tune,and at min 93 octane level

i am running stock injectors with 93 octane.. stock injectors can handle 370hp. im doing around 340whp, so yea it could be bc my injectors but i think its because im running stock intercoolers, and stock turbos.

phanatikz32 use .045 welding tips and you should be good. every z is different so get a boost gauge.

i have a front mount that is an upgrade from stock and according to the stats its good to 500-600 hp. and i have that mine's ecu tune though i dont know what its on it still. i only want to boost around 13lbs i dont want to go all crazy and boost 15 to 18 thats more than enough.

people have boost 18 with stock turbos with out detonation i just wouldnt though, let me ask you twinz what size injectors you on that you went above 15 and were detonating your not on stock injects are you?? and of course the higher octane fuel lessens the chence of detonation

yes we have 93 octane here in texas. even though he is running 555cc injectors doesn't mean he can boost 18psi. 1 you need upgraded turbos, 2 upgraded intercoolers, and 3 a good tune. the stock turbos get sooo hot when boosting over 15psi that the air explodes in the engine before it even sparks (detonation). i was detonating at 16psi on 93 octane.

im sure your running 93 octane correct z32twinz? anyways we only have 91 in CA so 15 is tops i would go, you can run 15 with single pop and catback exhaust if you have more then that yippie but still wouldnt boost hihger then 15 bc of our fuel (91) if you get 93 or higher you can do like 18 i beleive since you got 550cc injects, 18 is what i think max you should do on stock turbos and ecu tune matters also, all in all just keep at 15

if you have upgraded your ecu or have nistune you can run boost jets. I just installed mine. All you have to do it go to a welding supply store and buy welding tips. I used tested .035, .040, .045. with .035 i was doing 17-18 psi (detonation). with .040 i was doing 15-16psi (detonation). with .045 i am doin 14-15psi rarely going to 15 (PERFECT). i would recommend .045. if you have upgraded intercoolers you might be able to get away with .040 but every car is different and every car is setup differently. get a boost gauge so you have an accurate reading. when putting them in spay some pb blaster, wd40, something to lube the hole so they go in easier.

to get an accurate read you need two as far as i know, and if you put an bung upstream for one wideband thats still like running off one bc whats calculating the a/f mix on the other 02?? considering our exhaust are seperated

I don't htink you need two widebands, usually just one works upstream from your o2's. You keep the o2's and put a bung for a wideband

time is money for the ones that dont want to work on their cars, parts arent to bad price wise we dont have honda civic's so nothing is cheap, turbo cars can be alot to maintain especially are's alot of us knew this jumping into the z32 otherwise this is not the car for the 20g a year person.. we have to be realistic about what we can afford sometimes as much as we want the cool car

problem is when mines tuned the ecu they put a chip in it and put jb weld over it so whatever they did cant be removed so i'd have to program over that program and i don't know that you can do that. also you cant adjust boost jets can you? and i dont want to run 14 psi all of the time.

stock boost, my car is slower than yours for sure if thats what you're wondering. i dont have a boost controller so i cant adjust it and even if i did, i need that afc and wideband before i touch the boost.

as far as I know there isn't anything that is a wideband and a gauge in one. People get a AFC NEO and then use the wideband on the dyno(sticking the sniffer down your pipe) and dyno tune it. The wideband guages are nice cuz you can always monitor your AFR's when you're driving so you have an idea if your engine is gonna blow....if you see AFR's in the 16's on full boost then you know you have to back the f*** up or you're gonna blow something.

The Idle jumping and slow response sounds like it could be the TPS, check the unplug her and adjust it to like 500, then plug her back in and she should jump to around 750 or 8, thats what was happening to mine.

UPDATE: ok so now that the whole "omg i have a tt" excitement is starting to wear off a bit i have a few questions. i want to raise the boost a bit but alex was telling me not to touch anything untill i get a wideband. now does anyone know if there is a wideband and afc combined into one? i'm trying to avoid buying 2 things dedicated to the same task, i dont want just a gauge to tell me what my air fuel ratio is i want something that can tell me what it is and allow me to adjust it. does anyone know if they have somthing like this? also low end torque is a b**** on this car does anyone know how i can improve this? also my throttle response is kind of laggy could this be due to a bad tps? and my idle fluctuates alot it bounces up and down and nearly dies sometimes what is that about?

water pump is easy its towards the front changing exhaust gasket would need removal of engine all in all their not that much a pain to work on just a liil more time consuming

but damn that's sick that your swap is done as for the bumper, you should sand it down and use some "bulldog paint adhesive" for plastic surfaces. It makes the paint stick to our urethane bumpers. Just a quickie sand, 2-3 coats of bulldog and some white paint should make it look a ton better for now.

again, congrats on the swap..when i get my 14 back within a few weeks to a month I'll go and check it out

yeah i rattle canned it once before but i didnt sand it down well enough and it started pealing. but i'ma get a cheap macco paint job prob next month for now. but yeah i'm not sure why i didnt take pics of the engine but it just looks stock... i'ma wash her and detail her today clean the engine bay and then take a few more pics i guess.
