  <description>Welcome to our little group here, It sounds like you shorted the battery lead connected to the threaded rod on the alternator. Below are a few images of the first thing I would check as this is the primary circuit protection device for the terminal most likely to be shorted during this repair (I know from experience)Next time disconnect the battery and you will not have this issue although you will have to reset your radio presets.
