I can feel something in front of the blower but can't see what it is, is this the heater core?

I removed the 3 screws and the cover but can't see the filters. Are the filters fitted on the the side I can feel something on the side towards the back of the van.I was wondering if I was looking at the right thing, so I started the car and turn the fan blower on and lots of air was coming out of the vent cover hole. But can't see any filters. Be careful to not let the G/B hang from the lamp harness. Behind that there is a small cover with 3 screws. Take it off and the filters are right there. There should be 2 of them according to the Service manual. Install is reverse of taking it off.
