On my old I30, I would always pick the maintenance items that I knew needed done and I did the simple stuff like lubing the door locks, inspecting brakes, rotating tires & the like.Your dealer should let you do the same. Now that I have the M, I'll do that again and expect to save roughly half the labor cost. Much of what they're doing is simply inspecting things anyway like hoses, belts, coolant, etc.

Depends on how long you wish to keep the used car!Dealer recommended service intervals are never enough to truely prolong the vehicle.Dealers breakeven at best on labor, whereas almost all the profit comes from selling replacement parts, therefore don't expect them to concentrate on preventative mainteance.About all one can do is replace the oil every 90 days and change all the other liquids annually. PS, brake, coolant, ATF, diff. Many never think of compressor oil or PS until they have to pay thousands to replace a failed component. My 18.5 year old 318kQ still has its 1990 Evap and steering rack and pump, and of course the engine......75 oil changes later. When my oem rad failed at 165k, I had an expensive all aluminum solid custom unit made.Again all depends on when you sell the vehicle. Can you plan that specifically ahead.Might be that $8 gasoline forces early retirementHistorically Q shocks have lasted about 60k before rebound goes flat so be sure to budget all those wear and tear items before 100k.

Welcome to NICO! Quote, originally posted by agilyard Looking to buy a used M-45 with 58K. I know the tune-up is just around the corner and probably the reason the previous owner is offloading it. What can I expect to pay for a 60K tune-up for a 2003 M-45. Thanks in advance.Search and ye shall find: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/148207. Prices are a bit dated, but will be close enough ...Note that there is no engine tune-up required at 60k ... just a service that covers a lot of stuff though. So, it ain't inexpensive unfortunately.Z
