It won't hurt anything to convert back to castrol. That's an old myth that's been disproven. Whether synthetic is better, I don't know. On paper, it is better, but in practice, there are plenty of opinions, but not much in the way of actual proof. If the manufacturer recommends synthetic, why wouldn't you go with thatMy own Altima has 241,000 miles and still runs great, good compression, good power, no smoke. I use Castrol. However, it's not a Turbo.

Most manufacturers of factory turbo setups recommend synthetic oil. Where does it say on the bottle that it's a turbo rated oil

I know synthetic has its clear advantages but I've heard some great things about castrol gtx being that its a turbo rated oil. Also its less expensive then synthetic which is awesome considering how good it is.

I would recommend sticking with synthetic. The synthetic oil will cause less friction which causes heat and heat is not something you want on a boosted motor.

I bought a 240 with a sr 20. The former owner swapped the engine in and put synthetic oil in it. Drove it for less than 3000 before i bought it. Would it be bad for me to switch to castrol gtx I hear its not good to go from synthetic to conventional once the engine is run on synthetic.
