JL just happens to have a new promotion on the W7's, so I am trying to figure out what my new cost on them is in order to give you an accurate quote. I'll hit this thread back up later tonight with all of your pricing.

Yep, the TR650's will work perfect in the doors. I throw in the adapters for free. I would then just use Boston Acoustic S75 4x6's in the rear. They run $59 for the pair.So you are looking at $178 shipped for everything.

Alright so it seems the front and rear (not sure if all) speakers are blown in my 1993 240sx hatch.I'm interested in the TR650-CXi and I'm going to need the 6.5 in adapters, but I'm going to need a pair of 4x6's for the back. What do you recommend Most people say run a cheapo pair in the back if i'm staying with 4x6's there. Let me knowthanks

Well, drop in's would be 4x6's, but with simple adapter plates you can drop in 6.5's.Boston Acoustic 4x6's would run you $59 shipped and Boston Acoustic 6.5's would be $89 shipped. You would need adapters for the 6.5's which are $10 from me or you can make them yourself.I only stock 4x6's in the Boston Acoustic line. But I have several brands of 6.5's.

If you want some decent speakers, but are on a really tight budget, then you could do some Boston Acoustics:Front doors: 6.5's with free adapters $79 for the Boston S65'SRear: 4x6's bolt in $59 for the Boston S75'sI you have a slightly higher budget I would highly recommend doing a better front speaker and stay a cheaper one in back. The rear speakers are small and in the back, so you will barely hear them anyway. So I would put more focus on the fronts.Front doors: 6.5's with free adapters $135 for the JL Audio C2's found at the beginning of this thread.Rear: Same as above $59Shipping is included with all of these prices.Let me know if you have anymore questions. Of course we can always get you in to something even better if you choose. Toby

If you want the best, then Hybrid Audio is what you want..... no question about it. The nice thing is they are actually cheaper than all the other components they beat out. I would recommend their Clarus 6.5" set. The Clarus is actually their entry level, but you won't think so after reading the review below.Do a little research on them, you won't be disappointed! Email me for pricing on them. May 2008: Car Audio & Electronics Publishes a Glowing Review of the Clarus C51-2 Set; Evaluative Scoring Places Clarus Better than Sets Costing Five and Six Times as Much!In the July 2008 issue of Car Audio & Electronics Magazine, there is a review of the Clarus C51-2 set (5 1/4" component speaker set). The results of the evaluation were glowing. The highest sound quality score ever achieved, using the new Car Audio & Electronics scoring criteria, went to the Clarus component system. For example, near perfect listening test scores were achieved (9.5 out of 10 on the song "Spanish Harlem" as performed by Rebecca Pidgeon). According to the reviewer, even despite being 5 midbass, they compared well to competitors 6 and 7 component sets! Using a formularized Excel spreadsheet, which subjectively compared the old Car Audio & Electronics scoring criteria to the one adopted relatively recently, it was quickly determined by Hybrid Audio Technologies staff that this was one of the best component sets, if not THE BEST component set reviewed by the magazine in the past several years (as far back as we were able to take our research). Reader Note: Clarus C51-2 is a $469.99 set of 5 speakers which was compared to, and found to exceed the performance of 6 and 7 component sets costing literally up to six times as much ($2,000+).Notable quotes from the reviewer:"What I found was one of, if not, the best owner's manuals I've ever encountered in my many years in this industry! It is a comprehensive description of the speaker system and a lengthy and very informative tutorial on sound quality system setup in general...""To adjust tweeter output, you select between different push terminals (a nice way to do this)...which eliminates the common selector switch that can degrade over time and affect the quality of the connection.""It was a large sound...other components sets I've auditioned employ a 6.5-inch low frequency driver, so the fact that these diminutive speakers can hold their own against a larger driver is a feat in itself.""When (Rebecca) Pidgeon's solo vocal starts it's as though she's in the room with me! The image is strong, at eye level, and perfectly centered with a life-like tone. I can even detect the size of the room and there's a feeling of air around the vocalist.""There's a realistic, sweet sound to the strings...that I've rarely heard from even the most expensive component sets that I've auditioned.""When (B.B.) King starts singing, his voice is stable and perfectly centered. It has all the rich, soulful character he's famous for and when Lucille (King's guitar) plays, she sounds totally life-like and robust.""If you and/or your installer completely read the owner's manual that's downloadable for these components, and institute the damping and driver placement recommendations therein, you'll be able to realize the same excellent imaging and staging details these components are capable of producing.""I wish more speaker manufacturers would take it upon themselves to educate their customers as to proper installation and placement of their products as Hybrid Audio has done.""After listening to these speakers for literally hours on end, I didn't experience any appreciable listening fatigue.""From the extremely complete user's manual to the construction and sound of these diminutive drivers, they're a class act by any standard, and they're probably one of the best bargains out there for a retail price of $469.99. It's obvious that the folks at Hybrid Audio did their homework and a lot of research, testing, and listening to perfect this product.""If you're in the market for a component set for your car audio system, you'll be doing yourself a great disservice if you don't audition these speakers for your application."We invite you to support our last remaining dedicated car audio publication in the USA, and further, invite you to check out the review of our Clarus C51-2 set!Blatant plug: After winning "State of the Art" from England's Talk Audio Magazine, to winning seventeen (17) national- and world-championships last year alone in organized competition, and now getting a review which says that this $469.99 component set is better than systems costing five and six times as much---if there was any remaining doubt---even those that relish in doubting---you have hereby been given notice: THERE IS NO DOUBTING ANYMORE.

If you want the best, then Hybrid Audio is what you want..... no question about it. The nice thing is they are actually cheaper than all the other components they beat out. I would recommend their Clarus 6.5" set. The Clarus is actually their entry level, but you won't think so after reading the review below.
Do a little research on them, you won't be disappointed! Email me for pricing on them.
May 2008: Car Audio Electronics Publishes a Glowing Review of the Clarus C51-2 Set; Evaluative Scoring Places Clarus™ Better than Sets Costing Five and Six Times as Much!
In the July 2008 issue of Car Audio Electronics Magazine, there is a review of the Clarus C51-2 set (5 1/4" component speaker set). The results of the evaluation were glowing.
The highest sound quality score ever achieved, using the new Car Audio Electronics scoring criteria, went to the Clarus component system. For example, near perfect listening test scores were achieved (9.5 out of 10 on the song "Spanish Harlem" as performed by Rebecca Pidgeon). According to the reviewer, even despite being 5 ¼” midbass, they compared well to competitor’s 6 ½” and 7” component sets! Using a formularized Excel spreadsheet, which subjectively compared the old Car Audio Electronics scoring criteria to the one adopted relatively recently, it was quickly determined by Hybrid Audio Technologies staff that this was one of the best component sets, if not THE BEST component set reviewed by the magazine in the past several years (as far back as we were able to take our research).
Reader Note: Clarus C51-2 is a $469.99 set of 5 ¼” speakers which was compared to, and found to exceed the performance of 6 ½” and 7” component sets costing literally up to six times as much ($2,000+).
Notable quotes from the reviewer:
"What I found was one of, if not, the best owner's manuals I've ever encountered in my many years in this industry!
cool cool, i forgot to mention that im also looking for a rear connection for an ipod cause i want to route the ipod cable through the console to hide it. also was wondering if the apline headunits let you control your ipod through the headunit, ie. changing songs and so forth. I think i might pass on the add on amplifier right now. Could you email me a price or just let me know a price of JL Audio C2's or C3's. I think i'll do one of those $150 headunits in your other thread, i dont know the model number, i'll get back to ya!

Quote, originally posted by x240xdrifter Hey toby, I'm looking to buy a new headunit and some new front speakers. What do you reccomend to get I want decent bass without having to have a subwoofer. Something that sounds like a newer car stereo system. Not looking to break the bank either. Also do you have the speaker adapters for the s13 doorsI would recommend an Alpine head unit of your choice and maybe some JL Audio C2's or C3's. If you want more volume than the head unit provides, then an amplifier would be advisable. Alpine has their new add-on amplifier that should be a big hit.... no wiring and simply plugs into the back of the radio.http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-e...P-445

Quote, originally posted by Broadfield Well, JL has a decent set for $209 shipped. They are the C2-650's. This component set uses a 6.5" midbass/midrange driver and a .75" silk dome tweeter. I would say these are your best bet in the $200 range. However, they will not be available until May at the earliest. These are a brand new model for 2009. The C2-650x's are available. These are the coax version of the components that I have for sale at the beginning of this thread. I might have some VR components left over..... which are what the C2's replaced. The rears have to be 4x6's unless you relocate them to the rear seat panels.I can do Boston Acoustics for $79 shipped and Orion Cobalts for $49 shipped.Let me know if you need pricing on 4x6's for the rear.Tobyforgot about this thread. ill probably hit you up about the TR's + adapters in a bit.16 year old + 19 year old "drift" car = no moneyhaha, ill let you know.

I would say the best amplifier that I have at a great price and decent power would be the Alpine MRP-M500. 500 watts RMS mono-block into 2 ohm. If you start to get into even the entry level JL's or the PDX Alpines, then you will be over $300. The MRP-M500 would run you $169 shipped.http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-e...-M500Toby

My budget is under 300 and I guess my power requirements are whatever would be in line with a pair on 10w3-3 4ohms. I figured 400watts into a 2 ohm load would probably be enough, but too much is always better than not enough right

Ooops, sorry about that! This one fell through the cracks. A nice little 4 channel at a really good price would be the Alpine F300. I can do that one for $179 shipped. You could then do the JL Audio TR or VR coax front and rear. You will also need the amp wiring which I will throw in for free. You also have the option of doing some Boston Acoustic coax for a little lower price than the JL TR's. They are little more harsh and don't sound quite as "full" as the JL's.So the F300 and 2 sets of the JL TR's would run $417 shipped. The F300 and 2 sets of the better JL VR's would run $517 shipped. These both include the amp wiring.Let me know if you are wanting the cheaper options. Thanks,Toby
