I read an article about this some time ago... it said it's not so much about tyre width, as contact patch surface area. The weight from that corner of the car acting down on the wheel doesn't change... and by widening the tyre, you reduce the length of the contact patch, making it wider across the surface of the tyre.In cornering, when camber changes and weight shifts off the wheel, you can imagine this strip of contact patch narrowing to a small area, as opposed to a narrower tyre where a more elongated section of contact patch would theoretically remain.Basically, there is an optimal width tyre for each application, taking into account the other factors such as weight and suspension geometry. Once you go wider than that you are changing contact patch shape during cornering, but with a less optimal result. This is also dependent on suspension settings of course. Will try dig up the article, it was a good read!

Stupid queston...If the goal of drifting is to get the car sideways, wouldn't you want less tire on the road, not as wide as possible Does the wider tire give more predictible traction Seems harder on the engine to me but I suppose once the tires break loose it's not that bad. I guess it just goes against common sense. Please enlighten me...

I second that. I would say just by looking at it though that it seems like if you clearance the frame for the alternator to stay in the same spot that the ac compressor will fit ever so slightly depending on how you mount your motor. It looks like it would have to be removed and put back in with from the bottom. I know that for me if it fits in any possible location than I'm keeping it because I HATE the heat 80 is the limit for me.

TMO your tranny is thrashed, you realize those are teeth right. Aww who am i kidding that thing will probably last forever, i had an sr20 tranny a few years back that had even more teeth drain out one day, it lasted me 60,k miles and i sold it to my friend and hes put about 25k miles so who knows lol.Any way just as i thought the c clip came loose, you can see the washer and clip in the first pic at the bottom then the gouges and indentations on the shaft and housing where it rattled around, i probably installed it wrong the first time, anyway cleaned it up, put it back in and we are on the road again.

Quote, originally posted by CrazyTrance Well that really sucks..Do you have any pictures of how you mounted your PS pump I'd really like to see where you put it. That is a painless wiring kit right Those things are sweet. I'd really like to see what you were all able to cut out of the harness. I've thought about tackling that and re-doing my setup but i dont have a spare car to drive haha.Yea tell me about it, unfourtunatly i dont have pics of how its mounted right now. I used an altima pump this time clocked in a different direction with a custom bracket, but in the stock location for the VH, the alternator is sitting where the a/c compressor used to be.As for the harness , i made it myself from scratch, i special ordered the fusebox to my specs from bussman, actually the rep i spoke to at bussman was a 240z enthusiast and just sent it to me for free . It took me a few weeks but i eliminated alot especially length but kept a few things. Obviously all the lights where kept, i also kept the p. windows and sunroof and radio. Everything works like stock, the only thing i omitted was the mirrors and power locks. Before the original harness and fuesbox/relaybox was 51.5 lbs front to back. My harness weighs in at a feather lite 9.2 lbs edit'forgot to mention i also cut outall ac/heater wiringrear defrostfactory amplifier wiring

I dont think i broke any gears, like i said its probably the c clip in the snout of the tranny that holds the stopper for the rod, it probably either fell off or broke and is holding the shaft from going in. I dont think its really possible to break the z32 tranny sub 550lbft of torque after the abuse ive seen them take on slicks no less. TMO are you slamming thru the gears at 7500 rpm also Tranny will be out tonight to inspect, im sure its something stupid

Well i relocated the p.s pump and the alternator for fitment, the wiring is not that hard you just need the service manual like all other swaps, i got the tach to work by re-calibrating it, the stock radiator might work but i havent tried. In other the news, i took the car out tonight to do some flogging and broke the transmission. It wont go into 2nd, 4th , or reverse. I might have broke a shift fork or the c clip that holds the stopper and wedged the shaft. Who knows ill have to take the trans out tommorow and possible replace it with one of my spares. Sigh, if it aint one things its another.

Ok swo my hands where falling of wetsanding not ot mention i couldnt get it right, so i bought this kit from 3m called the perfect finish. It comes with some 1500 / 3000 grit discs and an adapter for the DA sander, and 3 different compound, not to mention a dvd with instructions. It cost me 100 at the local body supply. All i can say is wow, what would have taken me 2-3 days i did in a matter of hours. Here is the process with the 1500 disc on the sanderWiped down and ready for 3000 grit, matte black FTLHere you can see the difference with the 3000 grit on the left and 1500 grit on the right. With the 3000 the surface already starts to shine before you even buffThis is complete, my camera died on battery so i didnt get the in between steps

What size tubing are you using for the main cooling hoses I had some ghetto rigged lines from the parts store on my last setup but I'd like to make some hardlines this time around. I'm having a hell of a time finding 1 3/8" aluminum tubing.
