Quote, originally posted by mutiny is it possible to just drill a hole for that notch, or some other flywheel alternative I don't think I wanna bust off that notch on the crankshaft hahaThis is "240SXAddict"... and I already answered your question on 240SXforums...the "pin" broke with a tap of a wrench, it's not important. and the write up was just meant to be a base concept for KA24 owners to upgrade from. If you're buying a new clutch/flywheel, might as well make it bigger!

I found the following info at an online retailer. Only checked the D21 vs 300zx NA, but they list the same part numbers for clutch and flywheel (cant believe the same parts are used in so many vehicles). I guess this could help when shopping the local salvage or part store for "white bunny" parts. 280ZX 78-83 2+2 non-turbo280ZX 1979 2+2 turbo300ZX 84-1/31/89 non-turboPathfinder 86-89 2.4Pickups 2.0 83-89, 2.4 83-12/31/96Years Make Model Engine Type Liter Size 1987 - 1988 Nissan 200SX V6 3.0000 1975 - 1978 Nissan 280Z 2+2 L6 2.8000 1978 Nissan 280ZX 2+2 L6 2.8000 1980 Nissan 280ZX 2+2 L6 2.8000 1982 - 1983 Nissan 280ZX 2+2 L6 2.8000 1981 Nissan 280ZX 2+2 GL L6 2.8000 1984 - 1989 Nissan 300ZX V6 3.0000 1984 - 1989 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 V6 3.0000 1983 - 1985 Nissan 720 Pickup L4 2.0000 1983 - 1985 Nissan 720 Pickup L4 2.4000 1986 Nissan 720 Pickup L4 2.4000 1986 Nissan D21 Pickup V6 3.0000 1986 - 1994 Nissan D21 Pickup L4 2.4000 1987 - 1989 Nissan Pathfinder L4 2.4000 1994 Nissan Pickup L4 2.4000 1996 Nissan Pickup SE L4 2.4000 1995 Nissan Pickup Short Bed E L4 2.4000 1994 - 1996 Nissan Pickup Short Bed XE L4 2.4000 1994 - 1996 Nissan Pickup XE L4 2.4000 Q: I'm quite positive that most people reading know quite a bit more about this topic than I do, but I've read a crap load of "white bunny" threads and no one has said that the flywheel required modification.
Hey guys, sorry for the late reply. This is Ryan Yap's (white bunny) conception. I was just the first to have it in my car. I made 55X RWHP and 47X RWTQ and i've had very good luck with the clutch. With that said I hardly launched the car but I did plenty of beating on the car once it was moving. Ask anyone who really knows me... I can't stay out of the throttle. I'm currently rebuilding for more power so I got a chance to pull it apart and it looked pretty good. ..... Remember the "real" white bunny had a aluminum flywheel (custom) and a ACT Z32 non-turbo street/strip disk and pressure plate. It was also lighter than stock with that combo. Anyhow I remember Ryan saying the D21 flywheel didn't fit the KA24DE so he had a custom flywheel made... so it might just be on the KA24E that it works If this works it looks like a great budget clutch but if I now believe the better solution is a chromoly (lighter and stronger) RB20 flywheel with any aftermarket 350Z clutch. FWIW,Mike Leebtw you can use a Z32 TO bearing. It's much stronger.

Today i went over to Nissan to order my clutch and went to Advanced to get my flywheel, and i'm doing this same setup. 240sxAddict is actually my brother and he said its a really nice setup. Also it is pretty good price Edit: This is "240SXAddict". big, you only used one of my pictures! Haha. And I really dont agree with letting the flywheel grind away at the plate. Shards of metal + clutch = something I don't want to deal with. Our install went into a buddies coupe that didn't have the shield. This setup is perfect for guys with relatively low numbers who want a near stock feel but a clutch that will last them a very long time. But this setup kicks the stock setup's ***. And if you're shooting for bigger numbers, just add an aftermarket clutch kit with a higher stage to the "larger" flywheelAnd no, it will only work on the SR20 if you can find a flywheel with the 240mm surface and the correct flywheel "bolt pattern"

The description of the item is Clutch Set-Matched. The picture looks like it includes pressure plate, clutch disk, TO and pilot bearings, and that centering thing. I checked what engine came with the early 90 D21 and it was a KA24E, dont know if the transmissions are the same as the 240sx, so still not sure it the TO and pilot bearing can be used from the set. It also makes special note calling is Performance The part number is 06-901I think they use the same bearings, both vehicles list the same part numbers for them. HA, actually the same part number will pull up for use on the 240 or D21. Luk the manufactures site says its 240mmhttp://www.autozone.com/home.htm and pop in the part number

I am unable to load that autozone link, however, just guessing you got a flywheel from a truck, a clutch from a 280z, and the crank and transmission are still 240sx I do not know for sure, but I'd think the throwout bearing and the pilot bushing for a 280z will not work in a 240

Yup well after more research i went with this setup, i would explain, but ill just show the facts from another buddies setup. I have had a mixture of different clutches over the years ranging from oem to ACT Xtream. i just like to try new things. my current setup with lighten flywheel is failing becuase of Weak Diaphragm.---(taken from 240sxforums 240sxAddict/creator from another forum)The "White Bunny Special" was first created and explained by s14turbose, the "white bunny" being his 98 S14 turbo SE. KA24's come stock with a 225mm clutch surface area, but using parts from other nissans allows you to run a 240mm clutch, which by logic gives you more tractable area for the clutch to grab onto thus reducing the chance of slippage. We used the flywheel of a 1993 D21 Pickup(4 cylinder model), which is the standard flywheel to use because it carries the same crank bolt pattern as our cranks but is a 240mm flywheel. I believe any year will work, 87 being a common year people use but to play it safe use the 93 because I just installed one and it fit fine. There is also talk of lightened 240mm flywheels, but I have yet to see any that arent custom made. Now the pressure plate and clutch disc are varied. We used the stock setup of the afor-mentioned 93 D21, but common clutches used are off the 280Z Turbo, the 300ZX Turbo, and the RB series clutches. You can use both aftermarket and stock as long as it is 240mm. But one rumor surrounding this special is the truck and 280Z clutch can hold balls of torque, some saying near 400ft/lbs and they still retain stock pedal feel and longer life than aftermarket clutches. I'm still searching for the answer, but I read it went on Mike Lee's T66 KAT, and it had no problems holding 500rwhp.One very important point is that the 240mm clutch uses 9bolts to hold the pressure plate onto the flwheel, while your stock uses 6. Be sure to pick some up before you attempt this. Also, you'll have to break the small pin on the crank off to bolt up the flywheel, as it has no slot for it.and of course here are the comparision pictures:this is both setups(225mm and 240mm) set beside each otherexample of size differenceUpdate:installation pictures White bunny test video after about 2 cans of brake cleaner still had 2more to goas a result of not running my dust cover this happen. i thought it would help with cooling, but was I wrong..................yupmore size difference picstools used to remove old worn pilot bearing for act bearingputting new setup onthe little bulge that you see at the bottom of the dust cover is what the flywheel will grind down. when the noise has stopped, you will be able to insert your bolts at the bottom of the bell housing. after that, more noise will sound for about 1 minute. after that your all go.My pictures ( total price $215 dollars)Modified by Biggamehit at 6:59 PM 2/9/2007
