Speakers shorting out for no apparent reason

Alright, installed my rear speakers a few weeks ago. The terminal doesn't designate which is positive and which is negative, so I took a guess that red is positive and black negative, it proved to be good.

Then the screw which was grounding my amp got loose and lost within my trunk, so I made a new one and now my speakers, not the sub and amp keep shorting out randomly.

No bumps, but wide turns.

It's a 98 sentra so you have pull the particle board to get at the rear speakers, I shifted one and it seems like one of the screws holding it in will spark when you shift it.

The speakers are hifonics 6.5", they sound very nice, almost as good as the boston acoustics in the front, and this is just confusing to me.

Intelligent Key experience for 2007 Maxima Story!
I just went through a harrowing experience when the �Green Light� started flashing in my 2007 Maxima. Of Course I Panicked! At first I did the noble thing and called the dealer; who stated that I had to purchase a $25 battery and that it would take another $125 to program it (That�s $150�WOW)...After hearing this disturbing information I searched the internet an d came upon (FA) this site; where I received some hope.
IN following the guidance from members at FA; I went out to the nearest AutoZone; purchased ($4.30) a pair of CR2025 batteries (Duracell); and the attendant assisted me with placing the battery in the remote. I walked away from this one only spending $4.30. Wow! I believe I saved $121.50! Nissan Service Dealers must get better with scarring consumers or past clients who purchased their cars. I hope this is helpful and if your battery dies; don't fret; buy the battery, and screwdriver (small flathead); If you do not have manual use this:

INTELLIGENT KEY BATTERY
Replace the battery in the Intelligent Key as follows:
1. Remove the mechanical key from the Intelligent Key.
2. Insert a small screwdriver (A) into the slits (B) of the corner and twist it to separate the upper part from the lower part.
3. Replace the battery with a new one. (Recommended battery: CR2025 or equivalent.)
� Do not touch the internal circuit and electric terminals as doing so could cause a malfunction.
� Hold the battery by the edges. Holding the battery across the contact points will seriously deplete the storage capacity.
� Make sure that the + side faces the bottom of the case.
� And that�s basically IT! That Simple; No weird science, key programming or dealers rip off!

I Hope this was helpful and will save some great consumer a lot of money in these economic hard times! Peace!

Complicated audio issue

Ok, first of all sorry if this has been answered! I have a 2001 Nissan maxima with Bose. My friend thought he knew how to install an aftermarket radio without a wiring harness.The car had two white adapters that plugged into the back of the stock radio. My friend clipped one off and he wires went everywhere. The other one was clipped but I made sure I kept the wires into the white adapter just in case I needed to wire it back! I can wire one of them back on but I have no idea what to do with the rest of the wires? I bought a wiring harness so that problem is solved I just need help restoring my car back to what it was so I can install the radio. Any information or ideas would b appreciated!!!

91 q45 bose sound system problem - high pitch noise

Hello all, stock system sounds good but now Im having a problem with my bose sound system. The front speakers went out recently, now the front right speaker has a really high pitch sound coming out of it with no audio sound just the really high pitch noise. No sound coming out of the front left speaker at all. Its so loud I just have to keep radio off. Is my factory amp going out? Is there way to fix it or should I not bother an go with aftermarket setups? If I go with aftermarket I know I'll need the metra connectors and the antenna adapter for where the radio is but after buying it Im not sure what I'll need to do.

Any help preciate it

THE MOTOR IN MY 02 MAXIMA HAD TO BE REPLACED AND AFTER I GOT MY CAR BACK, THE CD PLAYER WILL ONLY PLAY A CD FOR 10 SECONDS. I AM WONDERING IF ANYBODY HAS AN IDEA OF WHAT TO DO.

Hi, I have 2007 M35X with nav and 8 speaker bose pkg.(not those 14 speaker bose). Since my car does not have any kind of aux jack, I'd like to add those OEM RCA AUX in the armrest,so I can have AUDIO&VIDEO source. Can this be done without major work? What are the parts I need? I am going to install a Clarion in my 07 Versa. The HU came with all of the neccessary stuff, but a wiring harness that says "for Subaru only". Crutchfield tech guy said it's okay because the harness has the correct number of pins & holes. Can anyone confirm or deny if this will work okay? Thanks in advance.

Im looking to upgrade my door speakers for my 91 240sx hatchback, and all i can find for the wattage i want is 6x9's. Has any one put 6x9's in there 240sx doors before, and was there any cutting involved and did your door panel cover the speakers?

I went out to my garage and the windows on my 2008 G37 were down! I didn't roll them down!

Then I remembered I had my Smart Key in my pocket and the car alarm kept beeping because my leg was against a bar stool (I think they should redesign the key with concaved buttons). So, I turned the car on, rolled up the windows, turned the car off, locked it and then pressed and held the unlock button on the smart Key. Sure enough after 3 seconds the windows started rolling down! You have to hold the button down untill the windows are all the way down otherwise it stops when you let it go.

I've had the car for two years and just discovered this. I guess I should have read the quick reference guide, I now see it is in there. Cool!

Programming key fob

I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra SE-R. When I bought the car used, the owner did not give me a key fob with it, she said she lost it. Well, I ordered a used one, and I need to know how to program it for my car. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

well i just bought some audiobahn 6.5 mid bass speakers alot better then i thought there were going to be for the price lol 20 bucks haha but so on.. i put them in my back of my coupe they sound good after i got most of the rattles out. But it seems to be all bass. like just the vibrations and not really of those deeps notes. Is there something i can do. i went with mids in the back because i like having a trunk and with that stupid sub box i could not fit s*** in there thanks.. and plz pics would really help lol

I just bought a new Sony xplod headunit and intstalled it myself, turn it on, it seems to work fine, radio works and sounds great.

I put in a cd and it doesn't play, it shows it playing on the screen and the equalizer is dancing on the screen but no sound from the speakers.

I tried pluging in my ipod and it does the same thing, it shows it should be working on the screen but again, no sound.

Did I get a bad headunit or what?

My friend just recently bought a 95 s14 without a radio and the rear speakers not hooked up but it has aftermarket front speakers hooked up. He bought an OEM radio thats in working condition but when he turned on his car he couldnt hear anything. When i took it apart it looks like a plug is missing on the back of the radio. I dont know I need some tips on this. And if you had the same problem and hav pictures on how to fix it let me know. I did research and i only found things on s13's

Ok so I have a Viper 791 alarm installed on my 97 240sx. Everything seems to be working except that when the remote start is used to start the car the starter will continue to run. The only thing that shuts it off is when I release the e- brake. The e-brake is tied into the system as the neutral safety because it is a 5 speed. I have checked tach signal, learned tach signal verified, checked the settings to make sure it was for tach check and also changed the crank time none of which makes a difference. Any ideas what I need to do? Please please help this is the only thing holding me up on a long awaited project. Thank you.

Stereo problems. Need some help

Ok, so for the past month I've had a problem with my headunit. It would randomly turn off. about two weeks ago it turned off and didn't come on for the next week. After being fed up with it, I stripped my interior. I got a few other things done like paint the carpet and stuff. I cut the 2 rectangular plugs that go to the stereo. I removed all the the speaker and rear amp wires and have run my own wiring for the speakers. I used a multimeter and the stereo is getting power. I have a feeling that it might be the illumintation wires. Its the orange wire, but once it goes through one of the plugs it turns into a red/blue wire, and on the plug the wire that is right below it is the red/yellow, which doesnt connect to anything on the stereo. I just stop at the plug. I want to replace this wire all the way back to the source, and I can't find any schematic for it online. Does anyone know where it goes or what else might be causing this? It isn't the headunit because I bought a new alpine today. Also, when the headunit turns off, so does the clock light on the speedo, which is why I think its the illum. wire. Im installing an alarm in a 1989 240sx and im having trouble with the relay.
The orange wire that comes out of the alarm thats supposed to be Ground when the alarm is armed has 12v Constant... and i have one of the wires on the relay wired to 12v constant off of the power wire and the Orange from the alarm is supposed to create the circuit but it doesnt because it has constant 12v also.
Please help

I'm just trying to get a cheap HU installed with the factory speakers. I'm confused because there are 2 sets of pink and blue wires in the factory harness. One pair goes to the right rear speaker and pink is neg. The other pair goes to front left speaker and blue is neg. How can I tell which one goes where? Also on my new HU, there is no 'amp on' wire. (light green/red stripe) on the factory harness. How do I get that to work? Obviously I'm noob at this. lol Thanks

Ok so this is my first time doing a sub installon a car and i need a little help can some one put in simple terms what I need? I am making a custom enclosure for a set of 2 10" pioneer premire TS-SW1001S_ now they can be either S2 or S4 for either 2 or 4 ohms. I cant find out what the difference is between 2 and 4 ohms and which one I should get. I also dont have a clue what amp to use with these subs if any one could send me in the right direction there that would help as well. The RMS for these is 300 for each with a 1200 max. I hope some one can at least reference me to a good write up cause from the hour of searching on google that I did I am more lost now then i was before.

A buddy and I have tried and all we keep getting is static through the sub. Any tips or info would be great! Okay, I'm looking to get an amp and a sub. The amp would not only drive the sub but would help out the speakers too. I'm kinda leaning to only one sub as I don't want a ton of weight in the hatch of my 240. I'm just now learning all about amps, bridging and such and wanted to ask before I go out and do something.

I was thinking about getting a four channel amp, running four speakers off two of the channels, and then bridging two of the channels to power one subwoofer. Is that do-able and a good idea? Some questions I'm wondering:

How big of sub should I go with?

Would I absolutely need two?

Ported or sealed box for that sub?

Is that the right selection in amp?

How many watts RMS should I be looking for?

Is the bridging thing okay?

Sorry if I sound like an ignoranus, I'm new to this and am trying to learn. Also, if you know of any good deals on stuff fill me in, cause I'm trying to make this as budget friendly as possible. Me and my dad can make the box ourself no problem, we just need dimensions. And should I stray from used amps?

Hifonics speakers and subs yay or nay

I've looked all over online, and can't seem to find any reviews positive or negative about hifonics speakers and subs.

Their amps are praised all around, but wherever I look nobody seems to want to talk about their speakers and subs and was hoping somebody here could help me.

I mean is it because they are bad or don't measure up to the amps?

Seems like they all have a lot of RMS power power for the price.

I just got my new spec v with the rockford fosgate stock system in it and I rather like it. I do have a pair of 12in subs and a 500W amp I want to toss in, but my question is this--

Does the stock rockford fosgate head unit in the b16 spec v have RCA and remote wire capabilities?

I'd really like to be able to just use the rockford head unit for this, as I like it's look in the dash, and don't much care to install the kit required for the monochrome screen to work with an aftermarket head unit.

1996 200SX SE-R Remote start issue

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, I drive a 1996 200sx SE-R 5spd as my winter beater. I live in MN, so remote start is very nice to have in a winter car.

Here's the issue, i can't find a correct wiring diagram for the ignition harness for my car. Usually I use the12volt.com for diagrams, however the wires listed on their diagram don't match the colors under my dash.

I have a white/red stripe as the 12v constant on my harness. none of the diagrams i've found list that as a color in the harness at all. I metered the rest of the wires in the IGN harness and i have it hooked up as a best guess. The remote starter works but the starter gear does not disengage. All my accesories turn on and the car does run via remote, so i'd assume that i have the 2 ign and acc wires correct.

I am using a Ready Remote Starter from DEI, if it matters. I have installed this same model in 3 other cars, this is the first time i am having any trouble installing it.

I hope this gives everyone enough info.

I took out my stock clarion speaker out of my passenger door yesterday 1993 240sx hatch btw. I cut the wire b4 the black connector and left it there overnight. Come to put my new speaker back in today, stripped both brown wires and now there is just no sound at all just in that one side of the car. Checked the harness behind the radio and its all wired in still so wth could it be why im getting no signal just at this speaker?

hey so im installing a viper 560xv in my 95 s14 and im almost done with the install. the remote start is giving me problems. when i hit the key fob to do remote start the brain clicks like its trying and my lights flash but nothing happens. it doesnt kick the fuel pump or turn the car over. i think its a problem with the pink wire going to the black/red wire. and i even have the neutral safety switch hooked up to the trans and inline with that a manual shut off switch. everything is soldered and heat shrinked. can anyone help?? broadfield.. i know your amazing with wiring. I have a 98 Sentra, right now all my speakers are blown because I upgraded everything but them.

I have a 12" JL in the trunk hooked up to a 450watt amp, it's pretty loud but it's not a permanent setup.

In terms of speakers I've been looking around and was wondering about putting mid-bass in place of my two rear speakers, getting nice sounding speakers for the front and replacing the 12" JL with two 10's.

I'm obviously still not 100% knowledgeable on everything there is to know about car stereo systems but I'm attempting to learn and was hoping somebody could tell me if this is an idea I should pursue.

My deck right now is a two year old kenwood, it's nice but it's not the best.

The sub goes on and off.it will work for maybe 5 seconds then stop for a minute then work for another 5 seconds.When i go in the trunk,if i push up on the sub and apply some pressure it starts to work but only when i have the pressure applied.Any ideas what can be the problem.btw its a stock bose 8in.sub

ok well for some reason my car stereo keeps turning off when im drving or when ever o press like the skip button to to chance the settings on it.. Its only my ignition power because it keep my time and everything and i dont know what to do. Try to keep my car nice and when i have people in my car and it keeps turning off... its getting dam annoying. Is there something i can do i have no idea to what to do sorry noob when it comes to stuff like this

My 91 civics audio system is being retarded for real.
A few days ago, my rear speakers would cut in and out, like they would be quite, then normal volume.
The next day, they were just quiet.
Now, the I can't adjust the rear speakers volume, the passenger side speaker isn't playing anything, and the front driver speak is the only one working correctly.
Oh, and when I have my ipod playing, I can change it to radio or CD and the ipod music will play along with the radio or CD music.
I don't know the first thing about audio or electronics. Anyone have any insight?
It's a Jensen head unit with no amp or anything, if that helps.

Sorry to have to bother, but I've spent the last hour wandering this site looking for info on hooking up a Sirius set up and changing the speakers in my wife's 2007 Altima non bose set up.

I found most of what I need but in one section they refer to the speaker Removal and Installation links and they are listed as "INT-15 and INT-11"
I can not get to these, can anybody help please.

I'm just trying to replace the stock front door and rear deck speakers.

Help making front reflector LED's parking light and blinker

I have a 2007 350z and I'm going to be adding LED's to the stock front reflectors. I'm using 3 yellow LED's per reflector and originally I was going to connect the top and bottom LED to the parking lights and the middle LED to the blinker. Is there anyway that I can hook up all 3 LED's so that they come on with the parking lights and also work as a blinker? I would like for them to work as blinker only during the day but be on at night when headlights are turned on, but continue to be a blinker at night as well. Any help would be appreciated. Apexi boost controller not showing image but has 12v

Just install it in a 1990 300zx, It has power( orange light glows, on the button) if i hold down any button , the images appear, but if i let go of the button ,it goes away. here is where the issue began, when i install it, it has constant 12 volt and stayed on even though the car is off, so cut the wire red and black wire from the boost controller for the mean time until i buy a switch (so it was working before), i added it on and thats where the problem began. Can it be the ground? should i ground it separately or keep it tap with the ecu ground? also i am missing the pressure sensor so i didnt install it, do i need it? thanks for helping me solve this problem.

Ok so i just bought some speakers thinking it will be 6.5 but it turned out to be 3.5. Instead of returning it, I figured i can make it fit the headrest like miatas and rx7. I already took out the headrest and kind of have a thought how to do it. I drew a 3.5 circle right in the middle of the headrest and plan on making the wires come down from 1 of the 2 hollow metal poles. My only worry is that it might be to loud if i put it in the headrest and how to make that section more comfortable since the speakers will right right there.
I will add up pics later on tonight.

Electrical Experts: Possible to tap into dome light thru fuse box

I'm a complete newb when it comes to automobile wiring, but I was wondering if it is possible to tap into the dome light's power through the fuse box, and still get the effect of having the additional lighting to come on only when the doors are opened (then fade after 30 seconds) like the dome light? Since the switch to determine the dome light's off/door open/on setting is usually found up on the dome light itself, it seems like you'd need to tap in any additional wiring on the same circuit at the dome light itself... Is that how it works or is it easier than I think?

I'm thinking of installing a 1200watt amp in my car, but I'm not sure if the current alternator will be able to handle it. It's a newly rebuilt alternator, but unfortunately is still the stock KA24e one. Here's some specs on the amp:

New Head Unit in S13 with Active Speakers Questions

I'm trying to wire in my new head unit using a wiring adapter with help from a web guide. It said,

"I recommend connecting the new unit�s speaker outputs into the existing
amplifier inputs, instead of direct to the speakers. The existing amplifiers have electronic equalization that enhances bass and treble response, and sounds better than running the speakers directly from the new unit."

1. So does that mean I should splice all the speaker output wires (4+ 4-) from the head unit to the adapter's amp wires (1+ 1-)?

2. Should I connect the ground from the head unit directly to the car, or should I splice it to the ground from the adapter?

2001 path le with bose cd changer problem

i have a 2001 path le with the bose and 6 cd changer in dash the problem is the light on 1 stays red and will not load now i bought this car used and i dont know if there is something jammened also the error 2 comes up on the screen when playing around with it also the radio gets really bad recption

Okay, I'm going insane from GIS'ing this for literally 30m, w/ every combo of words possible.

If you're unfamiliar w/ what I mean by iridescent headlamps, I'm referring to the actual plastic/glass lenses on the headlamps having a faint colored effect, one that changes color depending upon your angle of view.

I've seen this on ferraris, lambos, and I'm almost positive I've seen this before in real life, so not likely a lambo/ferrari lol.

Any information as to what this may be called, the technique, whether you need glass/plastic lenses specifically, etc would be greatly appreciated. I can supply a pic of a ferrari with this lense (aftermarket lense or lense treatment..) if people are unfamiliar w/ what I'm referring to. It's mindbottling, the amount of time I've spent searching online and haven't found one.single.reference to the damn stuff, the ONLY thing I have to know it exists is a pic of a sweeet black ferrari w/ the lenses, and a magazine (the newest "heavy hitters" - yes, a cheeseball mag, but great pics - has that "sharpie lamborghini, which has these lenses).

any help, I mean just the name of the lense/treatment/whatever would be greatly appreciated, I want to know more but simply cannot find a damn name!!!

Pioneer DVD and Sub install on 93 G50unit

Hey guys

Just after some tips on installing a Pioneer double din (AVHP4050DVD) head unit in my 93 G50. Its got the factory "Bose" 6 speaker system and stacker.

I am wanting to keep the factory speakers running off the Pioneer head unit and have a 12" sub running off the head unit's RCA pre out.

Am I best using a ISO to Bare end connector to wire in the Pioneer dvd unit? What are some other installation options for the head unit?

My main concern is the factory speakers not running off the new head unit.

Does anyone know of a double din radio bracket/face plate that can be purchased so that I can change my head unit to a double din unit i.e. TV, Navigation, MP3 player? I do not want to go modifying the existing one. You only get one shot at it and I can't afford the mistatke. Also, what would be a good unit for the conversion?

Anyone here have previous experiences or recommendations on which one to buy? I need on out of desperation because of those cops hiding in the bushes taxing people for speeding. I got my second ticket in 2 months and i wasnt even going that fast. first ticket, 15mph over, second, like 8. im not in the position to pay those hiding cops with the laser gun in hand any more than i would donate to drug addicts. please help. im looking at the Lidatek reviews, and they sound awesome, but they're discontinued and im having trouble location one, new or used, in the us. some of the others like escourt zr4 and m45 are so prohibitively expensive. $500 for a kit. any others?

Is it even possible to conceive a light kit like this for a real 240sx?

I am guessing it would have to use, LED lights and some sort of pre-programmed relay system..

A friend in my club is selling an elemental designs 15" subwoofer in a ported box with a Tsunami amp for $250. Is this a good deal? Ive never heard of these brands. Also Crutchfield is having this deal where you buy one 10" Rockford Fosgate P1s410 sub and get one free, with a kicker amp, ported box, wiring, all for $436. Which is a better deal?

ipod in car without and antenna

When I bought my '91 S13 hatch, the previous owner had removed the stock antenna and shaved the quarter-pannel. Although it looks nice, I can't get anything on my radio except an occasional signal. Since I only really listen to my ipod, I was wondering if there was any way I could "hook-up" my ipod to the car and have it function perfectly without an antenna. I do have a ipod-cassette adapter...unfortunatly my cassette player doesn't work (it won't "eat" or accept the cassette). So if anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks

ok im really frustarted, this is the second set of led lights i buy for my cluster and i dnt think im buying the right ones because the dash looks bright right were the light is but around it is not bright....

Alright so yesterday, I went out to just look around at some stuff for sale at this flea market type place.

It was a "liquidation sale" but most of the stuff was probably stolen or something,

anyways, i got 2 pairs of Pioneer TS-G1341R (5.25") and I am assuming they will fit fine in the front two panels (the ones in the doors)

However there is some fitment issues, with the back two, behind the rear seats. Yeah i know I should have gotten 6.5", but i got these for a good deal, and of coarse they are strict on there "all sales are final" rule, so returning them is out of the picture.

So I am open to any type of ghettoness you guys have to offer up to make these things fit. Or should I just try to sell them.

ok sooo i have a single 12w0 and i plan on putting it where my spare is, my question, does anyone know a good way to secure the board to the trunk, i plan un just sealing a peice of wood to the trunk floor, but i realllly dont want to use screws. i was thinking that liquid nails stuff, i mean itll hold and seal. i used it in contrating so i know this stuff is hardcore lol but do you guys think itll work or do you know of something better?
