XXR Wheels - 962's

Hi fellow skyliners across the pacific...I'm from Australia, where skylines are plentiful :DI've recently come across XXR wheels whilst searching for a new set. The 962's are EXACTLY what I'm after (http://www.xxrwheels.com/sportmax_962.shtml). No one has heard of them over here, but I know a guy that can get them at a good price. Seeing as they're based in the states, I figured someone here must have had a set on a 32/33/34I'm going for 8.5" fronts & 9.5" dished rears & the +35 offset sounds perfect for my car. I'm just wondering if anyone would have a few pics of them on either a 32/33/34 Do they fit fine clear the brakesBtw, pic of my car... black r33 gtst sII sedan

this is really old I'm sure of but I'm just now starting to look at skyline stuff more and more lately and landed on this while looking at raceonusahttp://www.raceonusa.com/nissa...-doorAnybody seen one of these in person I can't find any pictures other than the raceon ones. it's pretty spendy and I would think that it would take a lot of finishing work to get fitment decent.I've just been playing with the idea of building an r32 as strictly a track car, and I've always loved r34 stylings, as well as the jgtc gt500 style. call me a blasphemer or whatever you will, I like that shiz.

Blew a 2001 Skyline motor

So yesterday i was caught in trafic right. i had just rebuilt the motor and something was done wrong (non street leagle car). I failed to notice the car was getting hot sitting in trafic. There was an accident and it freed up after we passed it. I gunned it to test the new turbo. i saw a big explosion under the hood sent flames though the hood intake i havent had time to asess the damage. Any ideas what happened

hello everyone.. new member so i thought i'd say hello and post a little about my new/used car. this is one of my dream cars, so to finally get a hold of one, i'm anyway.. it's a '92 Skyline GTR. i bought the car with only 15.5k on the odometer or 9,800 miles for quick conversion. here's a list of mods it came with-Blitz SUS intake-Blitz spec NUR exhaust-Blitz turbo timer-Momo race steering wheel-3 point harness-and a Mine's tuned ECU in the glove box.
Broken Transmission

I know something broke and I have my guess but I'm going to put this out here and see what you guys think. This shouldn't have happened but I guess stuff is going to break and especially when the power is increased but this is an odd one.My Transmission is a route 6 cross with 2 & 3 gears changed, I'm running Red line heavy duty shock proof gear oil, street tires 255 X17, outside temperature around 50, my operating temperature 68 Celsius mine usually runs at that temp, boosted 1.44, and I was on an on ramp entering a highway. How it happened: Entering ramp to do a test run 1st gear shifted at 7898 rpm into 2nd, full throttle till 7352 rpm and noise and obvious drive issues. Noise is there when clutch is out alls quiet when clutch is pressed. Let clutch out noise and doesnt seem to engage and then jerk it engages for an instant. Couldnt drive had to be towed home.I thought it was something with my clutch nope clutch is fine put tranny in gear turn output shaft and definite catching going on inside. I think I know what it is but I want to hear what other people have to say before I say anything. Noise is clang clang clang clang sounds to be in sequence with rotation of flywheel. I always data log thats how I know exactly when it happened

I think that its about time that we all speak up

Ok, so let me preface my post here by saying that I am not looking to acquire a skyline for myself anytime soon.I have been a member of NICO for quite some time now, and it seems that most of the different automobile specific forums are pretty on point, with well documented tech support and a decent group of posters and great moderators..with the exception of one....the skyline forum ( im not bashing the members or the staff, this is directed to the content of the forum)What I have seen for the most part is a thousand threads on someone being scammed by an importer, or their car being seized by the government for illegal importation, or the ubiquitous how can I get my zomg JDM skyline. Not much in the way of DOING something about the situation in which we are currently constrained.I propose that we as a community of automotive enthusiasts with a common interest appeal to the powers that be to allow some form of importation of foreign vehicles.I see this being a positive influence on our country for many reasons.1. This would create jobs in the effect of having legal importers, as well as revenue for the government (federal or state) for said associated costs by the consumer.2. It would boost the economy by sales of aftermarket parts for said vehicles.3. The vehicles can be taxed as luxury and would be income for the government yet again.Im sure there are a thousand other reasons, and Ill leave them for you all to decide what they are when you write your congressman/congresswoman. The economic climate win which we live is the perfect time for changes such as these to occur, and there is certainly strength in numbers and facts. People are doing outrageous things to get these cars, if we present that to our governing bodies they might see an opportunity. Politicians love to make a name for themselves. Also, if we can legalize this, government spending can be reduced by eliminating the need to have so many agencies working to keep these vehicles out and can be spent fighting crime, or just saved altogether.Hell, we could probably get Japan to help pay for export, they have needs to get these vehicles out, thats how we get front clips. I know I am talking big, but really Ive never seen anyone take a stand. This country was founded on people doing what they believed in. We should stand up for what we believe in.My point of this post is not to carry the torch into washington, but to light the fire initially. we alone cannot do anything, but together we can do so much.Feel free to flame or mock. I believe we have the power to change. Also feel free to spread the word, or write a letter, and just tell them how you feel, and why you think it would be a good idea. Strength in numbers. We are a large group of people with a lot of influence in this.

Clicking on the link above will take you to the company's thread in the advertiser marketplace forum. It doesn't get much better than this, gang. Get on it!

GTS25T post purchase update

Well it's been a few weeks since I got my 1996 GTS25T and I have to say, I love it even more than the day I bought it. This has got to be the most fun I've ever had just driving a car - and in Okinawa where the local populace drives like they're 90 freaking years old, that's saying a lot. I especially enjoy taking it out on the expressway where sadly the fastest I can hope to get it up to without large fines and the loss of my license is 120kph. While I can't enjoy the top end as much as I like, frequent empty intersections really let me explore the versatility of the single turbo on the RB25DET. I know everyone thinks that the GTR is the end all, be all of Skylines - but I must say having a rear wheel driven car with HICAS and plenty of horsepower behind it is amazing. And the RB26DET isn't too far ahead when it comes to upgrades and bolt ons, in fact I would say it's lacking compared to what available to the 25.Sadly it seems living in Okinawa with the rates the local landlords charge gaijin is too much for me to handle. I'm going to be leaving Okinawa, and with it the fun I've had driving around. But not all is doom and gloom; I've decided to send back some 'parts' to assemble and drive on the track for when I get home .

Buying an R32 GTR and need HELPPP!!!!

Hey guys.I'm hopefully trading my 240 for a R32 GTR. Now, the guy is saying that it has a 2002 GTR motor in it. My first question is how do I tell that it actually is a 2002 motor is there a serial number I can look at or something different about the motors Anything I can check would be helpful to insure its actually a 2002 motor. Also, He has it titled as a Skyline, how do I check to make sure its legitely titled It has some rear end damage... so I need to replace the entire bumper/ taillight supports, etc. He has all the parts. Just wondering if anyone here had any experience with this and could help me out. I know how to do body work and weld. I've just never done something this extensive. Is there anything else I should check for before buyingI'm going to start it up and let it idle for about 30 minutes, make sure everything is working right. Thanks for any help, and any buying advice i can get.

2010 U.S. Skyline Owners Meet Planning

This year we kicked off our 1st annual meet as a organized group and had a fairly good attendance being it was the first of it's kind. While we were there I spoke to the owners of ZDAYZ to allow us Skyline guys to tag along and be included in the show and events. So next year (2010) we're hoping for a even better meet with lots more Skylines.Details and event coordination is being discussed and updated here,

Mulling over GTR buy in Korea

Hello! I'm military and just arrived in Korea a few weeks ago. I've been looking for a car, and I stumbled across a 1992 GTR R32 Skyline. After much exhausting reading from this awesome site, I've deamed it a car that would be fun to drive in Korea and not to try and take to the U.S.With that said, I have no idea what the the price should be and whether it would be worth buying just for a year of driving in Korea. This is a quote from the online post:R34 N1 turbo's (good for 500awhp) *Engine and turbos replaced last year *All wheel drive *all wheel steering *Power FC with hand held (after market ECU) *Boost, exhaust temp, oil temp, oil pressure, air/fuel ratio gauges *bride full race bucket seat *new paint job *glove box has turbo timer, lap counter and gauges built into a carbon fiber face plate *upgraded Greddy intercooler pipine *new race radiator and thermastat *panasport 2 peice rims The car needs a new front bumper. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to make a bad decision here. Thanks in advance!

Got my Skyline

It's not the fastest being a GTS25T, but it's clean and solid. I need to take it to an independent shop to look it over, but it came with a 2 year JCI, and it hasn't been on Okinawa for more than a couple of months. It's a 1996 sitting at around 90,000km. I'll get better pictures when I get my camera and get the car detailed. It rained a lot yesterday so it's already dirty.

Transponder key R34

Hello all,New guy here with a new project We have a 2000 Skyline R34 here at the shop that is in need of some help. The car was originally a jump car from the F&F movie so it isnt in the best shape ever But is a nice promotional piece. Apparently the car needs a "Transponder key" as I believe the ECU has an immobilizer feature and is not running the fuel pump at least. Car will crank over however Im told. (Im just getting into this project) From what I understand this is how it works without the transponder key. It appears the local Nissan dealer here might be able to make a key but not reprogram it SO Im digging for suggestions anyone gone through this before in the US Id really rather get a good key for it. But have considered just running a whole new engine management system. Which would solve any running problems. Kind of a PITA when I just need a key. But as the car was a "stunt car" it has been hacked up a little. Thanks for any help guys. Ill be lurking abit from time to time researching these cars a bit.

Sean Morris, getting you busted!

Yup thats right, the very guy who most look up too on here, rats you out so you lose your JDM import, and your investment. What do you mean Well he states it himself on his own website, with hopes of high Google ranking because he uses blogspot.com as a host. If you tell him you have a Skyline or any other import he will go to the authorities and tell them, yes, the very same guy who states he is protecting and educating you about importing, also the same guy active in the forums to get info on who you are and your import. Look for yourself, he said it.QUOTE FROM SEAN MORRIS"I am sure they don't want anyone investigating that car. I can point some authorities in the right direction, and tell them what to look for if you insist its legal.http://gtrusa.blogspot.com/200....htmlI'm sure that you don't want your hard earned savings and your dream of owing a JDM to come to a end, keep the details to yourself because it might come back on you... Well according to Sean Morris that is. Is he here for your benefit or is he working with the Government to find all of you who imported a JDM I wonder myself...

I can point some authorities in the right direction, and tell them what to look for if you insist its legal.”
http://gtrusa.blogspot.com/200....html

I'm sure that you don't want your hard earned savings and your dream of owing a JDM to come to a end, keep the details to yourself because it might come back on you... Well according to Sean Morris that is. Is he here for your benefit? or is he working with the Government to find all of you who imported a JDM? I wonder myself...

What i posted, think about it! Why are you not proactive

Why is it that in Canada they have the 15 year rule just like we have the 25 year rule and in some provinces in Canada have more strict rules for imports just like here in the U.S. like Florida vs Cali but in Canada they don't have the feds running around seizing cars and in fact regardless of the all the rules/laws of different provinces the federal government in Canada called Transport Canada let the cars in even if the destination province has high import rules but in the U.S. the Federal Government is over riding what the 50 states are doing. Florida doesnt give a s*** about the cars so how can you violate an EPA rule if the car is in Florida that doesnt require emissions testing. You can't violate a law that doesnt exists in your state can you Therefore it would be unnecessary to Federalize a car that is in a state where most of the federalizing process/work doesnt apply to the state for which the car will be registered. Again if the Feds say well the car has to pass emissions even in Florida because the car owner can then travel to Cali to visit and therefore violates the smog, clean air act. So I guess we should stop border travel from Canada because how many cars including someone who wants to visit the U.S. in his R32 violate the clean air act at the time of the visit. Doesnt make sense. The fact of the matter is it has nothing to do with emissions nor safety, its about protecting the local auto makers. Common sense would say that a 25 year old car is not more safe for the street or emissions then importing a newer car from Japan like the R35 etc.. So lets continue Even though Im going to talk about Canada at this point the topic is very similar to the U.S. BTW Anyone in Cali doesnt need to have a Skyline pass the clean air act if the motor is swaped with a North American produced engine. (2JZ, SR20DET etc.)1. The Government Should Protect The Consumer's Right To ChooseOne of the many examples that most closely resembles this issue is satellite television. It is currently illegal to even subscribe to a US satellite provider. What does this have to do with the 15-Year Rule We believe the answer is simple, local television and satellite providers have lobbied our government to ensure they face less competition and gain more market share. Simply put, the television providers are doing their best to keep a strangle hold on our near-monopoly in television providers. If you could buy better and cheaper satellite from the US, you probably would rightThe same example applies to the importation of used cars from Japan and abroad.Car dealerships have lobbied our government in order to stop even 15-Year old cars in better shape than cars available locally from arriving on our shores.2. Safety Is Not The IssueTransport Canada and some other Insurance Agencies (namely ICBC) have tried to say their main issue and concerns with JDM Japanese Used Car Imports are "safety" which is their explanation for why the car must be 15 years or older, or for the proposed change to 25 years. This to us does not make any sense for the consumer or under any kind of logic, unless you are a company or organization who stands to benefit by having less cars on the market. All of the imports coming in have met the safety standards in their own country and most come with equivalent safety features that cars from our market had 15 years ago. Further, in comparison to some cars that were already available in Canada, some of the JDM (Japanese) counterparts had enhanced safety features such as Traction Control Systems (TCS) of which till this day no North American model has had. A good example is some JDM Integra's having traction control whereas no Integra in North America ever had it.Even if one can argue that 15 year old or 25 years old Japanese cars are really unsafe, why would you allow them We know the stand point of the TC (Transport Canada) that they believe restricting the importation of such cars deters people from wanting to import such cars but does it make sense The bottom line to us, is that if the older JDM cars are not deemed safe enough by our government then they should let much newer vehicles into this country, ones that have even better safety standards than the old ones and likely more safety features than the current North American models. However, this was never an idea, option or a proposal in the legislation change, their only proposal is to increase the age limit to 25 years, thus making it nearly impossible to import a decent JDM car. What's more is that the average JDM car that is 15 years old is in better condition, has less mileage and is overall safer than a 15 year old used car on our local market. If we go further, many countries in Europe and Asia allow a mixture of local and import cars of LHD and RHD on the road with no evidence or studies proving that their domestic or imports differ in their crash or safety statistics. So if safety is the only complaint the government has and there is a way to resolve it by allowing newer JDM cars which are certainly much safer, why don't they The answer is pretty obvious, and although our government has a duty to protect our economy, it must also understand that in our democracy and free market, consumers have the right to choose the best car for their money, rather than the dealerships having the right to sell the worst car for the most amount of money.3. There Is No Reliable Proof That These Cars Pose Any DangerOf all the countries who have a mixture of local and imported cars, it's only ICBC that has come to the conclusion that RHD imports supposedly pose a danger. In 2007 they released a report which they admit is certainly not conclusive that supposedly RHD Imports are at a higher risk of a crash. However, there are many discrepancies in this report and the Imported Vehicles Owners Association of Canada (IVOAC) and others have found many causes for concern in ICBC's report, thus demanding the raw data of the statistics under the Freedom of Information Act.To summarize, ICBC made no effort to ensure the comparison between imported and domestic cars was unbiased and accurate. For example, it is well known that high performance cars such as Mustang's, BMWs, Ferrari's, Viper's etc are much more likely to be in a crash, however it appears their study compared the performance monster, Nissan Skyline to cars such as the Nissan Sentra (a small and slow family sedan). In fact, any study that was conducted in such a manner is bound to be inaccurate considering that the majority of cars being imported tend to be high performance, turbocharged cars which by their very nature would account for a higher accident rate, just as local performance cars are more likely to be involved in an accident. This is just at a first glance but one can see how any study based on such a premise is inherently flawed.ICBC later admitted to the press that the study is not conclusive or perfect, yet for some reason they released it knowing the implications it would have on the owners of JDM Imports. What's more is that many other insurance agencies began to refuse to insure such vehicles, citing ICBC's flawed study as the reason, a result which ICBC must have known would occur as a result of the study. As far as anyone can tell, the only motivation to release such a flawed study would be to devalue and further deter people from purchasing and importing more JDM cars to compete with the local market. As most people are aware of, with the onslaught of cheaper American cars, local car dealerships are doing their best to deny warranties and ensure people are deterred from bringing cars from the United States in order to protect their marketshare.4. Most Countries Do Not Restrict Imported CarsThere are few countries who have such tight restrictions on the importation of vehicles and in fact many countries such as Kenya depend on JDM Imports because they are known for their value, reliability and safety. They also commissioned local Japanese agencies to ensure the cars being exported are safe. In reality, Japan has far more controls and safety regulations to ensure their used cars are road worthy, this is known as Shaken and it is a strict safety test to ensure the car is in proper and safe working condition.Even the way the Japanese auction their cars is more honest and accurate compared to North American car auctions, where every scratch and sign of an accident or repair is reported and disclosed regardless of the total damage.5. The 15-Year Law or Proposed Changes Only Benefit DealershipsWe hope that anyone reading this has come to the very obvious conclusion that the only interest in disallowing such cars to be imported is not in the interest of the public or the consumer. This appears to be another desperate move by the car industry to maintain their profits and marketshare on a very tough market. If safety is the issue with these cars then the government should not allow such old vehicles to be imported. It makes sense to only allow 10 year old cars in and to allow the newest cars from Japan to directly enter our shores which would instantly alleviate and resolve any outstanding or debatable concerns on safety.Modified by DriftTuners.com at 3:51 AM 8/28/2009Modified by DriftTuners.com at 4:17 AM 8/28/2009Modified by DriftTuners.com at 6:57 AM 8/28/2009Modified by DriftTuners.com at 6:58 AM 8/28/2009

Importing Skylines to USA (i know, i know)

Love the forums, first time poster. I don't want any flaming, no bs. If people start flaming i will leave and figure it out on my own. I would just like some input because this is about the most respectable forum I have found. Lets keep it that way. My friend and I have about $800,000 to start up an importing business. Its set in stone. We started different companies but we are working together. We are trying to pick up where motorex f-ed everything up. No s*** get this rolling again. I have all the crash test dockets so I dont need info about that. Ive read your 90 year, 19 page long post on importing skylines. Very good info, sooo much great info on there. Thank you so much AZhitman and Gold Digger and to all those who have posted. I know everything that was said there, so lets not repeat ourselves too much. Lets not make this into a discussion about how it won't ever happen. Help us make it happen. I got the rb26dett obd-II. I have a first class MECP (Never took masters test, because my shop I used to work at didn't really care and I never went for it.). But it wasnt that hard for the OBDII mod with using an aftermarket ECU and wiring. Now my questions are. Does the stock ecu/wiring (So it stays NISSAN) need to be modded for OBDII to pass regulations, or can you make your own ecu My friend that is doing this with me actually programs his own ecus using daughterboards, flashing, etc... We have the obdII figured out on a 240 with rb26. Now sorry if this is hard to follow, I only have a few mins to get 5 years of info out of my head. We were thinking on getting a 1 year visa, going to another country and finishing our r33 gtr over there so it will completely pass federally with USA, so when we bring it here it will be done and we don't need to worry about the 120 day bs. Once we sell a few r33's and start making some profit we would like to crash test r-34's (No need for r32's, by the time we get it done they will be legal here).-To pass EPA can it be a home made ecu/wiring harness, or does it have to be a modded skyline ecu/harness-Is there any way we could bypass crash testing r34's and try and get Nissan Japan to release their crash test data to us We will then hire the engineers to make the car to USA standards. That would eliminate a lot of BS, speed up the process, and save millions. We are really at a standstill, we don't even know what questions to ask. Our brains are done, seriously done. We've figured out the emissions, kind of... We still don't know if our ecu/wiring will be legal, because its not Nissan. Now about going for the VIN numbers we are working with lawyers to get us the rights like motorex to make our own. Don't worry about how we made it OBDII, we are actually thinking of releasing harness/ecu combos once we work out all our problems and get the rb26's legal. So people who have RB 240's etc can run obdII and not worry about John Law.What we need is any info, past experiences, or any advice at all to help us get the ball rolling. Long story short, to get the skyline off the blacklist, and start selling them FEDERALLY legal. We are not trying to steal peoples ideas at all. We just want to finally get Skylines off the blotter and keep it that way.

Hypothetical Question

R32 and R34 Skylines are Banned by the US govt for legal use on the streets except on a couple cases. Everyone here should know how to get one in the country (remove doors, hood, engine/trans, trunk lid, front and rear bumpers) cause then its not a "car". Kit cars are legal and considered as cars that are not mass produced by manufacturer. Heres the question: If I were to bring in an R32 Skyline (doesn't have to be a GT-R) w/ everything removed: doors, hood, trunk lid, front and rear bumpers, but leave the RB and trans and build it w/ a 2jz or 1jz (some might say blasphemy but IDC) would that be a loophole that the Feds can't touch it

I would like to set some things straight about NICO and our Skyline community.I have talked to other people outside of the forums who are non-members of NICO, but hear other stories about how we "don't have the right information" concearning Skyline importation. While we may not know exactly everything, we know a great deal more than most other forums. I also want to stress that we are in no way against owning a grey market/illegal Skyline, but we just want to make sure that people who are contemplating buying a car like the Skyline are aware of any/all obsticles that may bring themselves to light. It seems that we always get threads asking if such and such is a legal way to bring in a Skyline from outside the U.S. And no matter how much we try to reason with people, it seems that they know all the answers, even though, they were the ones asking the questions. We encourage people to have their voices heard on the current legislation preventing the legal importation of Skylines and try to get things changed. Masses can make a differences, but trying to circumvent laws will only hinder our progress.Let it be known that, as of right now, it's pretty much impossible to get a legally imported Skyline into the U.S. While the 1996-1998 R33 is on the list of eligible cars for importation, there is still the hang-up of the OBD II system/ECU/engine.For what it's worth, I feel for you guys there in the U.S., I really do. But the more you try to do things the wrong way, the harder it will be to get things done the right way in the future. Also, please be sure to read the following article about Skyline importation. Thanks for reading,Gold Digger.

R33 GT

So I think I've tracked down my first Skyline. It's not a GTR, and I'm not too sure what it is to be honest. I'm pretty sure it's just a GTS25T, but I thought I'd get your opinions. I probably won't do anything crazy with this, just use it for my daily driver until I find a R32 GTR vspec that I like. http://www.okinawayardsales.co...00305 I'll probably go take a look at it on the 24th (will move to Okinawa on the 22nd). Speaking of the vspec, what year did those start for the R32's, 1991EDIT: Nevermind, finally got word back from the guy, it's non turbo :/ Not such a good deal any more with the GTST's going for just a little more, or R32 GTRs going for 500,000Y

Found a 1990 GTR

Found a 1990 GTR with the DOT bond release (showing Motorex as the RI) , the California Burea of Automotive Repair sticker and the safety laws conformance plate. But it still has the blue vin plate and the 11 digit vin number. My state (Colorado) tells me vehicles imported after 1981 should have the 17 digit vin number. The car has been registered in two states up to now. But I''m afraid that if I buy the car and try to register it in CO that the motor vehicle dept will flag my paperwork and send me for a vehicle inspection at the state patrol office. I already talked to the state patrol people and they said that if the vehicle gets sent there I will need the DOT certificate of conformance which the seller does not have. In addition I worry that the state patrol people will start to look over the car. The car still has a Japan windshield, headlights and bumper. Either Motorex neglected to put these items on the car or they were switched back to Japaneese equipment later. So where do I go from here How does one get a new 17 digit vin number If I can get a new vin the car will never be seen by the state patrol and the lack of upgrades will not be discovered. Or if the new vin is impossible to get then how costly is it for me to do the upgrades and let the state patrol inspect the car I am financially able to handle a lot of grief, but I don't want to fight with bureaucrats for the next couple of years. Thanks for any help.
