Can't go over 2700 rpms. Almost like there is a rev limiter there.

I have a 90 240sx with a ka24de. I have owned the car for over a year and the other night while I was driving down the highway, the serpentine belt that controls the power steering and fan broke, so I got that replaced, now when I start driving, there is a burnt oil smell, and the car is unable to go past 270 revs. I checked the spark plugs, and they seem corroded. I cleaned them as best I could, which wasn't too good, but it seemed to help the rough idle. I'm wondering if any of these are linked and thinking that the rev problem is possibly electric.

Can someone link me.

I have found a thread before I thought it was in a sticky somewhere about the base numbers and what all you need to get a round about estimate of horsepower in an sr20det. I am curious to see what you can pump out of a stock turbo sr20det. I will have a greddy fmic, tial bov, apexi safc 2, Aem wideband Uego, Aem boost controller, walbro 255lph pump, stock turbo, I was thinking about boosting around 12 lbs. I just was kind of wanting to get an estimate of horsepower. I can't find the thread and I have been hunting around for awhile. I know I probably just overlooked it. But my eyes are getting tired lol. So please someone help a fellow Nico member out. I want to get the setup running before I decide to go with anything more like bigger injectors etc. I set my horsepower goal at 250. I have heard that is a pretty easy goal.

KA24 questions.

So I've been checking out YouTube for some drifting vids of ka 240's and alot of other videos have something along the lines of "killing a ka24e" (sohc) and comments of burnout videos where the motor bounces off the rev-limiter say something like "suprised it didn't blow up" I was wondering. Is "blowing up" common for ka24e's And what about ka24de'sI'm kinda freaking out about it.

S13 Stance GR + Pro Coilover Question...

So, I've already got the coilovers, and am in the process of installing them. I am removing some KYB AGX + Eibach Sportlines in the front right now, and I was putting on the front set of coilovers, but my bolts for the KYBs are bigger than the holes on the Stance Coilovers. Clearly, I need new (smaller) bolts, but will this fix the issue entirely Will I need spacers, any bushings, etc Here's a pic from the tech article for reference.

Headlamps Don't Turn On

S13 pop ups. The headlights go up but the lamps don't turn on. I'm pretty sure my gauge cluster still works, I'm at school and the car is at home. When I pull the stalk towards me for high beams the high beam indicator on the dash does not light up, I know this for a fact.I got them to cut on for a second when I jiggled my ghetto positive battery cable, but after I tightened it down again they turned off. That probably has something to do with it, but I figured I'd ask to see if anyone else had this problem. I might take the combination switch out and clean it, but I'm pretty sure that's not it.Thanks.

Side diffusers for S-chassis

There aren't any side skirts that I like out there. I came across these side diffusers from gotuning.com but obviously they're for a S2000. I kind of like them and think something like this will look good on a 240. Anyone know where I might be able to get something like this for my 240 Does anyone even make anything like this for our cars....and no, that website don't carry these side diffusers for 240's.

BRM exhaust review (with lots of pics)

So I got my BRM cat back exhaust system Yesterday. Put it in the car this morning and went to a local shop here in Dallas, that lets me work on the car with their tools, when business is slow. I tried to take as many pics as I could, for references for the next n00b who wants to install this exhaust on they car.Installation process:We are talkin bolt-ons people, its not rocket science. Stock exhaust is in two pieces, using a wrench I removed the nuts from the bolts near the muffler. Using the same wrench I unbolted the pipe from the catcon. No elbow grease needed, simple as simple does. Here was the tricky part. I spent 5 mins trying to get the muffler off the rubber hangers. Damn near impossible. Then I sprayed a lil WD40 all up in the rubber hangers. Muffler slid clean off. No elbow grease needed. Removed the pipe by putting WD40 on the hangers again, no stress at all.BRM (magnaflow) muffler install was easy as slicing cake. The fabbed hangers slid right into the rubber hangers with no issue. BRM (magnaflow) resonator pipe hangers slid right into the rubber hangers no issues. Of course gaskets were put in place. 2 bolts came with the BRM system, so I bolted those up appropriately. Bolted the resonator pipe with gasket back to the catcon. (thanks for this extra gasket greg, mine was completely shot)And then I pulled the car down. Total install, 40 minutes. Literally a joke. Took 5 mins to wrestle with the rubber hangers (just use WD40), 5 mins to find the right wrench. So really this install took 30 mins. Here are the pics, Kind of alot. But why not. Most kats are on high speed internet anyway. Car in air with stock exhaust system in: The welding job (not the best, but it will hold for a lifetime) The stock to BRM comparison: Absolutely perfect clearance: Tips come out a bit farther than I expected: Another clearance pic. Lookin good IMO Lookin a bit crooked. Nothin a lil elbow grease cant fix I know Im monster truckin, but I autocross in stock class, so form over function trumps this one. Im 2 seconds off the mini cooper here, so no coilovers until I beat the mini Final pic: Now for the quick sound review. Sound clips are out there already. I think the exhaust sounds much louder on youtube than it does on my car. When you start the car, its a hella nice deep throaty tone. And then its almost as quiet as stock if not quieter. Rollin around town, is as quiet as stock if not quieter. Now you do hear the deep notes as you are rolling around town, but its not that much louder than what you would hear inside the car. Outside the car however...its a very very nice sound over the stock notes. Ive also got the solid subframe bushings so I will hear a bit more than you guys with ES bushings or stock bushings. But its nothing, as I said, just as quiet as stock IMO.The highway is a different ballgame. Nothing a lil Sports-Radio cant handle. But the speed limit on the highways here are 70. So I go 75, and the exhaust note is Quieter than stock I kid you not, but mind you, you can hear the deep tone. Around 60-65, the note is um, LOUD. Might have to crank that radio up some, or tell the GF to speak up. Its louder than stock yes, but nothing that is annoying. If anything its enough to make you either speed up or slow down. Speeding up works best for me.And there you have it. Ask me any questions, and I will do my best to help.-Your easily seasoned n00b240

Ignition issues

As of today I started having with starting the car...the starter is turning over, after the third try or so each time it will start after giving a little throttle. After starting the car runs fine aside from an idle at about 1200-1300. I would like to say the problem can be attributed to a faulty MAF. Can this be case or should I worry about something else.

I have been outside all day trying to figure out what is going on with my car. Whenever I turn my key all the way forward, a load buzzing sound comes from where my ECU is at. None of the lights on my dash come on, the radio, or anything else like that. I tried to start my car but it won't, it just keeps turning over. I am willing to give someone $5 if they can help me figure out what is going on.

sorry guys i hate to start another bodykit thread but i have been reading every thing i could find for the last week and everytime i decide on a kit i hear their no good. Im looking for a kit that has good fitment/quality, and around $1000 or under. Im getting confused, there are so many knock-offs around i dont know whats good or whats junk, so this is where i need your helpmy car is a 92 240 hb, completely stock and has been sitting for the last 2 years because i paralyzed my right arm in a motorcycle accident. i ordered a sr20 last week, and i was gonna order a v-fiber kit that was $350 but after reading they were junk im not gonna waste the money instead i'll fork up a few extra bucks and get something decentMy decision is basically made on the Charge Speed, i just need conformation that its a good kit and i wont regret putting it on the 240If that falls through im looking at the Streamline Origin Kit i can get here in Canada that would save me a few hundred in shipping.Theres a few other styles i like but i found some good info on this site for those, mainly im looking for info on the Charge Speed. if you have any input on other quality kits that are in the $1000 range im all ears, pics if ya got emIf theres another topic on this that i couldnt find my apologizes and a link would be great. Thanks for any help

VG33ER swap

The 3.3 L (3275 cc) VG33ER is supercharged and produces 210 hp (157 kW) at 4800 rpm with 246 lbft (334 Nm) of torque at 2800 rpm.has anybody ever attempted this swap It seems with it being a USDM produced engine there would be more parts and units available than some of the JDM options like the SR or RB series, and with torque coming in pretty low like that and the design (lower compression) already being aimed towards forced induction a blower upgrade or turbo setup would seem capable of decent numbers.

HELP!!!

I'm seriously ready to take my car to the shooting range. I put a new coil, condensor/resistor, ingnitor chip, dizzy, and checked all of the connectors on the harness along with all of the grounds. THE DAMN THING STILL HAS NO SPARK!!!!! WTF!!!!! I even had the mechanics that rebuilt the motor for me come by and inspect my work and they said everything was a o.k. and that the only problem that could be left was either a loose ground or corroded connector. I've checked it all over and over and over. The only thing I haven't changed is the ecu. Is there Anybody that lives in south Alabama that can come by and help. I'm about to scratch my eyes out. Has anybody ever had this problem before God. Any feed back will be appreciated.

HALP!!! i can't think of anything but maybe staples. but that'd look REALLY rugged for such a clean car :

starts sometimes but wont idle, wtf

Ok I took my KA24DE out of my 92 hatchback and swapped it into a 91 coupe. The original KA24DE that was in the 91 coupe was blown. When pulling out the KA from the 92 hatch it fell about two feet (fail) and put a small dent in the oil pan, there is no leak or anything from the oil pan or anywhere else. I know what your thinking that is your problem right there but as far as i know there are no sensors or anything else besides the pump in there. Once the swap was completed and we tired to start the car it would not start, we tired; changing the dizzy, sub coil and ECU. It remained like this for a week until we realized that the fuel lines were backwards and it started, second failure. So then i get stuck at work for bout a week straight so I didn't have time to play with mt baby until yesterday. O i should mention that the coupe was sitting for awhile a couple of months before i got it and the gas went bad. It was like a brown color( think it turn to turpentine). So yesterday we pumped out the whole 1/2 g of bad gas. Put about a gallon and half of fresh gas in there with 108 octane buster. So it started up yesterday when we tapped the gas and turned the key. The car would rev up from us tapping the gas but if you let off the gas or floor it the car shuts off without holding an idle. Switched the original ECU from the coupe back thinking maybe they are mapped different. No luck.Tired tonight and couldn't get it to start at all figured hey put the ECU from the hatchback back in there again, still nothing. Please any ideas or suggestions or related personal experience would be helpful. Things I've tired and checked; changed ECU's more than once, lol, changed dizzy twice, the one from the hatch is there now, change the sub coil to the one from the hatch, checked the harness over and over for something unplugged, the only problem we partly saw were that two vac holes between the valve cover and the fire wall were broken so we fixed it also the sensor nearest the driver side was broken on the bottom where the vac holes connects this was also changed. All other vac holes as far as we can see were connected except the EGR valve, cant figure out where the connection is. O also changed the headers w/ the bridge that goes to the intake manifold. My MAF is good and it clean. So basically please any help would be appreciated i know i have fuel, spark and air cause like i said i got it to start a couple of times but it would hold an idle.

No luck.
Tired tonight and couldn't get it to start at all figured hey put the ECU from the hatchback back in there again, still nothing.
Painting for the first time!

Hi, I am new to getting a car, and one of the first things I want to do is get a paintjob, since the factory paint has faded and the finish is scratchy. I, however, have no idea where to go get the paint done, what quality to get, how much to pay, and DIY is totally out of the question!!!! Please, please give me advice, cause I'm at a complete loss!!! (BTW, I got a quote at Maaco, but I have had some friends telling me that Maaco paint jobs suck... is that true)

350z pedals into s13

Hi everyone,I'm new here , mostly spending time reading, rather than asking questions .... I've been thinking of what to do with my stock s13 pedals...The story begins from an auto to manual tranny swap with a ca18det engine (btw, the swap was successful).I ordered an s13 clutch pedal and had it installed, but had to cut up the auto brake pedal in order to get the clutch pedal fit...now the brake pedal doesn't look pretty. After searching @ ebay I came across (1) a used s13 brake pedal, (2) oem 300zx (fits most nissans, including s13) rubber clutch and brake covers), (3) used 350z pedals set - brake, clutch, accelerator, dead pedals), (4) 350z pedal covers. The most attractive for me is the #3 choice...therefor my question is does anyone know whether the 350z pedals fit into s13 any modifications necessaryI understand that my idea might sound stupid, but I hope I won't receive any sarcastic replies (such as regarding the 350z console to 240sx console conversion)...Hoping for a adequate answer Regards,- TimP.S. I've seen a picture of such conversion somewhere, but can't find it... P.P.S. I prefer to stick with nissan parts rather than momo, sparco, etc...

My second chuki! Give me ideas!

I'm not sure if anyone remembers me or not, but I posted a topic last year about my 92' chuki I was going to attempt at restoring it, long story short; I ended up selling it sometime after I made that thread, lol. Anyways, last week I picked up another chuki for $200 bucks, runs and drives great. I couldn't ask for a better car for 200 bucks, brand new Michelin tires on it, new pads, tune up just done. There really wasn't anything wrong with it besides a few minor things I've already fixed. When I got it, it needed a slave cylinder and ignition coil. I had the parts in my garage from my last 240 so it wasn't a big deal, I put the parts on, bled the clutch and drove it home. Check it out:Everything is original, nothing is done to the car. It has some cool interior things my other didn't like a sunroof cover, hatch tonneau cover, a case for the sunroof glass and some other nick-nacks. It has some frame rust, nothing too bad, I plan to fix that this winter. I'm thinking of doing a SR20VE n/a for something different. What do you guys think What would you guys do with the car if you had it I need some ideas!

It's gonna be a fun week

So my buddy asks me if I could help him working on his friends car. Thr name "optimus primer" is a known name around school. It's the name of the WORST CAR EVER. 1993 Honda civic hatch vtech "not hooked up" so it makes about 70 horsepower. Kickdown sensor gasket leaks tranny fluid everywhere. It's slammed in the front (wheels grind against the fender) needs. Both wipers, windshield, windshield trim, vtech wiring harness, pass. Mirror, etc etc. It's painted in black and grey primer, it's got 17" wheels but one is different, there's wires sticking out everywhere in the hatch and interior, it has no radio, and the upholster. Is destroyed. It's covered with Canadian tire parts (10" steering wheel, interior LED's, headlights) it's an automatic that doesn't havethe power to coast, and the wheel doesn't snap back after turning... Here's the funny part. Thr kid paid $1500 for it :/

240 Impressions

Recently I located a 1993 240sx at a dealership nearby and having loved these cars for so long I am nearly ready to trade in my VW GTI and begin making the 240 my own. As these cars are getting on in their years, the normal wear is present but nothing that can't be fixed. However, being a 93 it does have the KA24DE and the timing chain rattle that comes with it and when test driving it I felt a lack of power from the motor. My GTI has 180 hp in a tiny car and it's got a small turbo so I'm not sure if the 240 is down on power, or my impression is off because of the power I have in my current car.So my question can only be answered by opinion. How should a 240sx feel I only ask that you try to be as honest and descriptive as you can because from what I read here will determine whether I go for it or not. If not, then its a few more months of saving up and I'd prefer to pick it up from a dealership.

First things first this is going to be a slow but sure build as i want to do everything right and the first time. Plus moneys tight right now since im still in high school (17 years old) and just bought this 240sx. after two vdubs.Ok so about 3 months ago i bought my first 240sx. Its a 1991 5spd with 163k but i picked it up at what i thought was a steal at $900. it needed a a left fender for the body to be complete since the guy still had the bumper and right fender and headlight. plus it had the jdm 180sx seats so i just had to get it. i loved my low and slow vdub but it just had to go. Im looking to go ka-t, keep the body oem, but slammed and of course some nice rims.this was my vw, first carFresh off the trailerPuttin in some work on the liftBad pic, suppose to be winking ill be updating as i go along with the project, let me know what you guys think, feel free to give advice/suggestions i still need a color! so if youve dreamed of painting your car a certain color ill consider painting it for you Also just put it on the road today and i feel like im at home in a 240sx!

how do you find a thread you posted, then someone moved and now someone has either moved or deleted now and they dont know how to email you to tell you where the hell it is. needless to sey it was moved to the correct spot by a mod, and now i guess either he or another moved it or deleted. you could at least send a email or pm to explain. dont even tell me to search, already done that to no avail. getting tired of everything someone wants to say is search, when in the time it takes someone to type that, most of the time they could have answered the thread to start with. oh and btw the thread was about a 240 i was thinking about selling
