Got a cool app for iPhone users

So I first tried the free version and shortly after bought the full version because it rocks. It's called Gas Cubby and tracks MPG and more. You can input service and maintenance data and see your total cost of operating the vehicle. The free version limits you to 5 entries and the paid is unlimited. Here's some pics of the app. Obviously I dig it and recommend it. If you're at all interested in tracking MPG, fuel price trends, and operating costs this is the app for you. Plus you can have multiple vehicles and look at them individually or as a group.BillyBilly

Some pics from Edwards AFB

So I've been to Edwards AFB in Mojave, CA 3 times this week and decided to take some pics. Edwards is where all of the Air Force's new jets get tested and Nasa's shuttles land there when Cape Canaveral isn't able to accept them. Apparently they've also got a bunch of F22's and the new F35 Joint Strike Fighters. It's also where the Air Force's Test Pilot School is located which is why I was there. Not because I was in training, but because I was building 2 new command posts for them, unfortunately no pics of those. Here's some pics of the aircraft that they've got on display. Thanks to all in our armed forces for their dedication and commitment. I gotta say it's amazing being on base and seeing all of the work, money and technology that goes into our military.

Front end thoughts..........

Ok guys I am just now getting around to fixing a small fender bender on my Q. The front got clipped and the two black bumper pieces that stick out of the bumper cover got messed up beyond repair. Other then that the bumper cover and supporting brackets and front end are fine inclding all lights. I was planning on getting new cover and painting myself. After I took it all apart I was thinking about just cutting all the black that is not painted out and putting a mesh grill in it's place. It will be a big mouth on it but don't know if it will be too big. What do you guys think If someone has Photoshop skills please help by seeing what you can do.I would post pics but it's not letting me from my phone. SorryThanks!

Your thoughts on throttle body bypassing...

So I've been doing lots of research about a throttle body bypass. Some people say it's worth it, while others say it's dangerous. I can see how the hot throttle body can heat the upper intake manifold, thus warm the air a degree or two (probably not two tho). I can also see how the Venturi effect can cause ice to build up on the throttle body at startup (at least I think that's what causes the ice buildup). Lots of people that live in the north and have done the bypass say they've never had a problem. I've also seen dyno runs before and after a bypass and it showed an actual gain in HP.Have any NICO members done a throttle body bypass Any from the northWhat are your thoughts

REALLY REALLY dim Dashboard lights

Hi all, been a lurker for a few years. Did a search but can't seem to find what I am looking for. 2001 SE, 60K. NICE car which replaced my 97 that got t-boned with me in it (another story). BUT this 01 has always had very dim speedo/tach/fuel and temp gauge lighting at night. The dimmer works but it's not bright at all, in fact I'd say on it's highest setting I would conside it the lowest on any other vehicle. SO my question is could this simply be fried bulbs or is there some other gizmo that might be creating the problem. I have NO electrical issues or other ligthing problemsTHANKS!!!Peter Chicago IL.

If you cant open a car door. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE A LICENSE

Does anyone else here have dings on their door mouldings from fk head drivers that cant open their car doors without slamming into the ones next to them!! I just got my car detailed a week or two ago and came out from the grocery store parking lot and saw where some Deuche bag had opened their door onto mine. It wasnt bad.. but enough to ding the paint. Fortunatly i have touch up paint mixed for my car so i can fix it but but its impossible to make it look perfect and IT IS SO FRUSTERATING. I am a firm believer that parking in close proximity of other cars, and showing you can get in and out of your vehicle without smashing your door into cars around you..should be a standard test before you get your license. Bottom line...if you do not have the mental capacity to open your door without damaging others property, you should not be able to operate or even ride in a vehicle. Ok im done ranting...thanks

Diff between 99.5 and 2000 QX4

So i have a 99.5 SIlver (KR4) Qx4.A branch fell on my driver side mirror and cracked the housing. I just ordered a replacement from a recycler on car-part.com (100$ including shipping for housing/mirror etc !!) The listing was as 1999 KR4 color. Called the guy he verified it is KR4 paint code..same bluish tent on mirror etc. Said it was an exact match. He than sent me the VIN of the vehicle and it is pulling as a 2000 Qx4 (Kr4 paint). When i run my vin in pulls as a 99.5 (kr4 paint)Is this going to be a matching part I assume it is since the paint code is the same and the body was the same, but im curious. I know i will find out when it arrives but figured id ask.thanks!

It is probably the single worst idea in the history of really s***ty ideas. NONE of them stay on the panel and they usually cause the panel to break or something else really f***ing annoying.NOTE TO NISSAN: STOP USING THE METAL CLIPS, THEY DON'T WORK FOR s***!Sorry, this is my stupid rant post of the month.

I just picked up a '03 QX4 with the standard system and want to know what is involved to upgrade to the factory Nav system I know, I can save time and $$ by going to bestbuy and buying a ms garmin but all the mess (power cable, mount, the gps itself) just bugs the crap out of me and the fact u can't just leave it out or it's guaranteed to get stolen. To me installing the dash nav system is it. So besides finding the head unit, what else is needed Antenna How difficult is it I have installed aftermarket systems before so I'm not afraid to pull the dash apart.

I have a 01 Infiniti QX4 and really need to get this problem solved. About every week I keep on getting the P1441 code.. I already replaced the bypass vacuum valve and the control unit to that. I just recently noticed that when i remove the gas cap there's no gases escaping, no hissing noise. So I replaced the gas cap and still nothing.. it seems like theres no pressure when removing the gas cap. ANY HELP PLEASE NEED TO PASS EMISSIONS TEST.. Thanks

Clicking noise from the rear right

I need help here, I have a 1999 QX4 and the problem i'm having is from a full stop, when i take my foot off the brake and press the gas you can hear a loud 'Click" from the rear right of the vehicle. Forward, reverse whatever, it will click. Just a single click. When I come to a full immediate stop, you can sometimes hear the same "Click" but not as often. It seems more apparant when the vehicle is not on the hoist, and has the full weight on the ground. I already replaced the rear sway-bar links and the lower trailing arm bushings because they were gone however i'm going crazy with this "Click". Thanks for reading, I hope somewone can help.

Removing/replacing rubber fender trim

99.5 Qx4The rubber trim between the body and fenders is dried out and looks like crap. I went over it with touchup paint which made it look better...but still just looks like a crappy touch up job on crappy dry trim(had to paint it on the car obviously) Because the trim is so dried out..it has like an alligator skin or "hammered" appearance.Anyone have or know if you can replace the trim At least if it can be removed and than without to much difficulty put back on. If so, i may just pull it off..than paint it and put it back on. Painting it on the car is too much of a hastle. I have a 2oz bottle of the touch up paint. Could get more if needed.I found this http://www.partstrain.com/Shop...i/qx4but i dont know if it would match the existing oem trim. The picture obviously is not the exact product.thanks

2001 QX4 needs work

It's been a while since I've posted on this forum, I do visit it very often but have not posted in a while.Ok here's the deal with my Q, every morning when I go out and heat up the truck (40 deg.) my engine belt is wanting to start squealing. My belt was replaced not to long ago and I've already had it tightened twice, does this mean I need to tighten it again I also noticed it only does this when it's chilly outside, when it's warm, it will not do this.2nd. In the mornings when my truck has heated up and I leave my driveway and drive off but hit the brakes to a STOP sign my rear brakes will screech very badly, I've had my mechanic check my rear drums and have been told they are fine but the screech sound is very loud, it will only do this once when I drive off for the 1st time, once my truck has hit the brakes a couple of times it will not make a sound, and if it does its not crazy loud.3rd. I've brought this up a couple of times but have not received a definite answer on it. I was once driving in downtown DC and recall that I hit a pothole which caused my steering wheel to snap, I didn't hear anything but felt like if something snapped on the steering wheel rod. I recall having a mechanic check on this and told me they were the bushings Are there different types of bushings I am confused. I recall the mechanic checking the steering rod in the engine and it was loose. Another friend of mine has a pathy, same year, and his steering rod in the engine was tight and did not move at all. I'm thinking something broke. I've had this problem for quite some time.I'm also in the market on replacing my shocks and struts and have been told that the KYB's are the best for our trucks, in the case I cannot get the KYB's what would be the 2nd best for our trucks I would like to avoid Monroe at all costs!! I've experienced these and boy do I have a lot of bad things to say about them. All thoughts are welcomed!!

Hey guys!I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I wanted to know if anyone knew of a good place to find aftermarket replacements for the in dash gauges on a 2001 Path. I like the stock white ones that i have now, but would like to find one that have a tick mark at every mph and 100 rpms, instead of every 5 mph and 500 rpm. I've seen a few pictures on this site of what i'm looking for, but they have not been for my year (i think i saw it on a 99 SE). If anyone could help me out, i really appreciate it!

BUT the other thunk-ing noise I had was when I brakes (especially going down hill to a stop) My right front brake always seemed to be slipping.. So I thought it was a glazed out rotor needing replacement (after all the mechanic that inspected my car told me I needed new front brakes in about 5k) So I went to kragen to buy pads and rotors..... $150 later, I ended up returning them, because my gf's dad, who runs a Jaguar repair shop, told me its the ABS controller with some air in it. Today I bled the brakes, and had a TON of air in them. It took 2 DOT3 12oz bottles to finally get the air out (or so I thought I got it all out). BUT when I took my car for a test drive after I did the repair, I had NO BRAKING POWER! The pedal went to the floor, and only the last inch before the pedal hit the floor, did the car actually build up enough power to stop. So I assume I have MORE air in my lines. BUT I dont know where the air came from! The tank never ran out of fluid to get air into it, my ABS module isnt leaking, all lines are tight. So I guess what I did was pull the air from the abs controller into my brake lines... SO know I gotta figure out how to get it out! Should I just continue to bleed them using my vacuum pump (see pic below) until I get a steady stream of fluid My gf's dad offered to open his shop tomorrow for me and he said would do a brake flush, but would that work better than me just bleeding them by hand I need the car by tomorrow night (to drive back to school) so im kinda in a sticky situation. Otherwise im stuck driving the explorer around til I get this pathy up and running again...... Thoughts, opinions, please post! Thanks, James

part # for factory instrument cluster #74 bulb base

I need a base for one of the bulbs behind my instrument cluster, one of them broke on me while trying to get the glass bulb out. i went to a nissan dealership and had a base and bulb ordered because thats the only way i can get it, and the base is wrong and doesnt work, the base i got from them is identical to the bases bought off autolumination.com, and those do not work either, the base needs to contact the circuit board on the underside which we cannot see, the ones from autolumination and the dealership are made to contact the back of the circuit board whick doesnt work. so does anyone have any of these correct bases or a correct nissan part number foe me!! any help is greatly appreciated, 03 pathfinder SE, weird loaded package tho, doubt it makes ant difference but i have digital climate control, compas/thermometer, and (had) bose factory radio.

Help got a few CEL codes

Well my wifes 01 pathfinder started studdering yesterday as she was trying to get to the store. It was weird because it was just running fine the day before. So today I decided to pull the codes. Got a code P0303 for a cylinder #3 missfire detected. Also a code P1320 for ignition signal primary circuit fault. Has anyone had these code come up before I wouldn't even know where to start for the missfire and the ignition signal is something new also. I was thinking about checking the plugs for the missfire or something but might also be the coil. I just have no idea about the ignition signal code. Please anyone with any info would be appreciated.

Painted My Wheels

Hey guys the name is Bryan, this is my first topic in the Pathy/QX4 forum, I wanted to share my experience with the DIY painting of my stock wheels. I just picked the QX4 up a few weeks ago with 53K on the clock. I am new to Infiniti Trucks but I have owned a G35 Coupe for about two years now and my Girlfriend drives a FX35. So I got tired of seeing my newer looking QX4 with such filthy wheels. Here is a few shots of what I started with. -As you can see the finish on the wheels were in bad shape from the previous owner. Most of the time I was embarrassed that my wheels looked the way they did. Materials Used:1. "Stripper" I used the stuff you apply with a brush but you can also buy a spray on "Stripper" which I feel would work just as well. 2. Scrapper - started with plastic and moved onto a metal one3. 2 "Fine" Sanding Sponges4. Acetone (for cleaning surfaces)5. Primer (sand-able)6. Wheel Paint7. Clear Coat8. Tape9. Sand paper (200-600 grit) for smoothing any scratches or cuts in the wheel10. Heat Gun After I purchased the things I needed I started by applying the stripper to the wheel in plentiful amounts, the thicker the coats the better it strips. It took about 8 - 10 coats per wheel to get most of the paint off. I was not able to get all of the paint off so I used the sponges to get the remaining loose paint. The paint that did not come off at least got smoothed out. NOTE: At this point I nearly gave up on getting the paint completely off. I called around to some local shops who specialize in sandblasting as well as powder coating and got a few quotes. I really was only considering getting the wheels sandblasted and still painting them myself. It will cost anywhere from $100 - $200 for 4 wheels depending on the shop you go to. CONTINUED: I decided against getting them sand blasted. I spent about 1 hour on each wheel just simply sanding away with the sponges. I watched many videos on youtube on how to paint your wheels. I came across a guy who was painting these BMW wheels and he had an interesting idea. He used a stand, in which he was able to mount a wheel facing upward and spin it as he sprayed the wheel with paint. Genius! I began to look on the Internet for something similar that I could use to spin my wheels. I then read somewhere about possibly using a desk chair because it can spin in circles. Well it just so happens I have a desk chair that can provide me with a spinning surface. I rigged something up on a whim. It was everything short of pretty but it got the job done. Here is a picture of my contraption. I wanted to keep the Infiniti Emblems on the wheel cover chrome so I popped them off of the cover. I thought this would be easier than trying to mask them off. I again thoroughly sanded all parts of the wheel to make sure it was smooth enough for primer. The wheel covers only got minor sanding just to rough up the surface enough for the primer to grab. One can of primer was enough for two coats on each wheel and I mean just enough to finish the last one. I had planned on sanding the primer to smooth out any imperfections in the primer, but it was not necessary because it looked good and smooth. Immediately after every coat of spray I used a Wagner Heat Gun while continuing to spin the wheel to allow the paint to dry to a smooth finish (careful not to get too close because it can melt the paint). Here are pictures of what the primer color looked like. Not a bad color huh The only thing I did in between primer and paint was wipe the primer surface with Acetone just to get any dust particles that may have settled. Again one can of paint was enough for all four wheels. Again I used the heat gun in between each coat. Here are some pictures of the difference between primer and the graphite paint. Also in between paint and clear coat I wiped down the wheel with Acetone. One can of clear was enough for two coats for each wheel. Heat Gun was used in between coat as well. I let the wheels sit for about two days before I went and got the tires re mounted on the wheels. I feel this was enough time for the clear coat to cure. The final product is not too bad for my first time doing anything like this. I feel the color is a bit too dark for my style. I was also watching on youtube where a guy with a sweet mustang used graphite paint and then used stock color paint over the top. It made the stock paint a bit darker and I really liked that. I figure if I want to go over the graphite with stock color again I can do that. But this is it for now. At least through the winter, lets see how it holds up. Thanks for reading.

Not a bad color huh?

The only thing I did in between primer and paint was wipe the primer surface with Acetone just to get any dust particles that may have settled.

HOW TO: Replace Instrument Cluster Lamps

Overview: The following tutorial will explain how to replace the bulbs which illuminate the instrument cluster (speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge). The following images are based on a 2003 Pathfinder; the process is similar for all R50 models with the exception of the number of cluster lamps and wiring harnesses. It is recommended that you unplug the negative terminal of your vehicles battery before beginning the following procedures, it is not required, however.IMPORTANT: If you do not disconnect the vehicles negative battery terminal for the duration of the procedure, then DO NOT turn the vehicle to ACC or ON mode while any of the clusters wiring harnesses are disconnected. Doing so will result in an open circuit for many of the vehicle systems and the SERVICE ENGINE SOON lamp will illuminate and you will need to reset the ECU.Disclaimer: I am posting this tutorial for educational purposes and cannot be held liable for any damage to your vehicle resulting from this tutorial. The following information is given to you at the best of my ability and if used correctly, will result in a successful instrument cluster lamp replacement. The following tutorial is based on the circuitry for a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder and may differ slightly for other vehicles. If you need help with any parts suggestions or calculations, please feel free to post on this thread and hopefully someone will promptly help you.Difficulty: 1 out of 4Time: Approximately one hour, depending on your skill levelCost: The replacement bulbsTools: Phillips head screwdriver (a short screwdriver is best), Needle-nosed pliers _________________________________________________________________________STEP 1 (Removing instrument cluster surround)_________________________________________________________________________Begin by removing the two Phillips-head screws which hold the instrument cluster surround in place. Once they are removed, you firmly pull on the cluster surround (pulling on the bottom of the trim closest to the steering column) towards you. There are two small metal clips which hold the surround trim in place (see picture below). It is easiest to remove the cluster surround with the steering wheel lowered as much as possible. (Picture 1) Remove the two screws shown (Picture 2) Note the two metal clips which hold the trim in place_________________________________________________________________________STEP 2 (Removing Instrument Cluster)_________________________________________________________________________Now you need to remove the instrument cluster assembly from the dash. Remove the four screws in the following image and pull the cluster towards you as far as possible. Now tilt the cluster so it is facing up (towards the roof). You need to unplug all of the wiring harnesses going into the instrument cluster. Once all of the harnesses are disconnected, you can remove the instrument cluster from the vehicle. (Picture 3) Remove the four screws shown (Picture 4) Unplug all wiring harnesses from rear of instrument cluster_________________________________________________________________________STEP 3 (Lamp Replacement)_________________________________________________________________________Now you will need to lay the cluster face-down on a solid surface (on a soft cloth as not to scratch/damage clear lens). In the following image you can see the designation for each bulb in the cluster. The amount of lamps or the placement of each lamp will likely differ from production years. To remove each bulb, you want to twist each base counter-clockwise (about 90 degrees) and pull the socket and bulb from the cluster. You will see that the bulbs which come from the factory are incandescent, and sometimes covered with blue latex (for softer light). Is is common to replace these bulbs with LED's for longer bulb life or to customize the cluster illumination cluster. It is important that you save the factory bulb sockets, as some aftermarket sockets will not fit the cluster. If using the factory sockets, you will need to remove the bulbs from the sockets. To do so, just pull each bulb out using the needle-nosed pliers. The bulbs will probably get crushed and this is common, they are usually seated in the sockets pretty tight. Just make sure you pull all of the old bulbs remnants. Now you can just place the new bulb in the socket and put the bulb/socket back into the cluster (installation is reverse of removal).NOTE: When using LED replacement bulbs, it is necessary to use correct polarity or the bulb will fail to illuminate. There is no way to tell the clusters polarity, so you just have to guess. If the bulb does not illuminate when you test the cluster, then you will need to remove the bulb/socket and rotate the socket (WITH the bulb in it) 180 degrees and then re-install. The bulb should now illuminate when you test the cluster. If using incandescent replacement bulbs, then polarity is unimportant and the bulb will always illuminate.(Picture 5) The lamp layout for the 2003 Pathfinder. The cluster lamps illuminate the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge. The odometer lamp only illuminate the digital odometer._________________________________________________________________________STEP 4 (Testing)_________________________________________________________________________Once you have replaced all of the lamps, it is necessary to test the cluster. Plug all of the wiring harnesses into the cluster (and replace negative battery cable). Turn headlamps on (without putting key in) and ensure proper lighting of all lamps. If you replaced the turn signals then turn on hazards to test both simultaneously. If you replaced the headlamp brights lamp, then you will need to put key in and turn to ON (without starting vehicle) to use brights.(Picture 6) This is a picture of my instrument cluster after replacing the cluster lamps with blue LED's and the odometer lamp with a white LED._________________________________________________________________________STEP 5 (Cluster Installation)_________________________________________________________________________Installation is the reverse of removal.GOOD LUCK!

'02 Pathy 2-3 transmission shift flare when cold

I've searched a come up with a bunch of stuff for the '01, but nothing for the '02.There is a TSB for the '01's that suggest a new TCM and solenoid assmbly. Also read a few people changed the fuel filter. Some people cleaned the MAF. Then I read the flare is normal when cold to protect tranny.Mine does it first thing in cold weather (under 10 celcius). When the truck shifts from 2-3 the RPM gauge increases, then it shifts. After the vehicle warms up it goes away. This past summer I had the tranny flushed with Nissan fluid & the fuel filter changed just as reg maintenance. Any thoughts TCM and solenoid are quite expensive, but then again, it this normal operation Does the TSB apply to '02's as wellThanks

Ipod interface for 2010 Pathfinder with nav&xm

Hey guys, I just purchased a 2010 Pathfinder and I love the car but for the fact that it doesn't have an ipod interface. I'm not really sure why Nissan would have an interface for some models (Murano), but not for others. My last car had an interface, and as spoiled as it may sound, I really don't want to resort using the AUX input. I want to be able to control my ipod's files through the screen. Is there anything out there for a 2010 model pathfinder with the navigation and XMAlso, I thought I could maybe purchase a large (30GB) compact flash player and resolve my problem, but I keep reading that the system built into nissan can only player so much of the files. I created files using the following configuration: arits albums songs...but when I played the card in the car, it showed up as only albums songs. So you can only go through 2 levels of foldersOther than the audio technology, the car rocks...just very dissappointed that I can't listen to music the way I like.

I have to replace the O2 sensor in my 2001 QX4. It is a rear one on Bank 1. I assume that bank 1 is the passenger side right Has anyone used an aftermarket O2 sensor I was going to get one at Atuozone and they are kind of universal. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with them. Also, do you need to get the PCM reprogramed after replacing an O2 sensorThanks,

Re-Upholstering Doors...

So after lots of consideration, I will be relocating my rear door tweeters from the doors to the D-pillars. In the rear doors, the tweeters can be very overpowering for the backseat passengers. Once I remove the tweeters from the doors, I will be left with a hole in each door (in the area between the top trim piece and the armrest, next to the interior door handle) which will need to be fixed. I will need to re-upholster each door, just the little piece of fabric that matches the seat fabric.I would like some suggestions on replacement fabric. I would LOVE to do Alcantara or perforated leather but those are both out of my price range (Alcantara is outrageously expensive). I was thinking of using some black microsuede since it's super easy to clean and feels nice. I also don't have any auto recyclers near me to swap interior door panels, so that's also out of the question. Below is a picture of the type/color of the interior I have (not my car) and the red arrow points to the piece of fabric I will be replacing on all four doors. If you can think of the perfect fabric, let me know!

Why would nissan put two hinges to one compartment I was on CarMax the other day just cruising around looking at avble. Pathfinders and I noticed the guy took a picture of this plate which seems to be removable. The P.O. must have removed it from mine and forgot to put it back in... anyway I need it..
Grind when turnin right... bearings

So this weekend I have some free time, and im going to work on my pathy.. It needs new brakes (rotors and pads) and I thought while I was at it, I should do a tranny flush and while im down there replace the gear oil and transfercase... I know how to do all those no problemo. Questions though: - When I turn right at low speeds (5-20mph) I feel a grind.. its noiseless and is mainly felt in the wheel and floor.. Its not like a hella grind that everyone can notice, its something the trained perfectionist like me picks up. Could it be a bad bearing- The tranny. It says it has a "lifetime filter" but we all know lifetime is B.S. So how hard is it to change, and is it do-able- Brakes... What do I need to know about I have changed brakes on my S4, and my Explorer all the time.. anything the pathy might surprise me with THANKS!

Best Tires for 2000 QX4 to fit my budget!

I'm new to the site, so I hope I'm posting in the correct section.I'm looking for recommendations on new tires for my 2000 Infiniti QX4. My last ones were Bridgestone from Costco and wore out pretty fast. I plan on selling my car in the near future and like everyone, I'm looking for reliability at an economical price. I won't need winter tires anymore since I am relocating to California, but I am driving my truck from Chicago to LA and want to be safe. So far my only quote (besides Costco again) is:Continental Grabber $495 installed I hope you guys can help me out. Thanks!!

pics and stuff from Australia

Well, just got back from a great month long vacation in New Zealand and Australia. Everyone should go there at least once in their lives. As promised, I took some pics of some cars that I found interesting. Hope you like them.Observations: First off, Nissan is but a crack in the pavement in Australia. Kind of sad actually, given the landscape of vehicles. There seem to be a lot of "prestige" cars there (BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, etc.), and there are also lots of AWD and crossovers there. Doesn't make sense not to see Infinti's. The g37, M35, FX35, Rogue, EX35 would do well there. There are also tons of Camry's, Corolla's, Accords, etc, and yet there is not a single Altima, Maxima or Sentra type vehicle from Nissan to be seen. I really think they are missing the boat here.Holden (GM) and Ford are also popular, and very competitive. You either love one or the other there. Reminds me of the Chev/Ford wars of the 60's and 70's here in North America. Both of them make some nice vehicles. Wish we could get them here. Unfortunately, neither company has the vision to do that. Instead, we get Malibu's and Taurus. Lastly, I saw some cars that I didn't get a shot of because I wasn't quick enough with the camera (e.g. saw a '58 Chev with right hand drive in really nice shape). Also, some shots I took from a moving tour bus, so excuse the quality.QX4 by any other name:Aussie Pathfinder:Looks like a G35 to me:Not a car, but still caught this thing taking off:Not sure what this is, but it was cool:Self explanatory:Cool:Ford Falcon XR6. I liked this car. Very popular:Check out the snorkel:Nice Skyline:Going to a wedding, I think:Aston Martin:1963 Chev on Sydney freeway:These are very popular here. Holden and Ford both make one.Holden SS:New Honda Civic Type R:A little bling (Holden):From the bus:Holden GTS. Another favourite:That's it for now.
The Latest Project (and it's a good one)

It's my first year at college, and here at Bucknell, freshmen aren't allowed cars. That's been a big problem for me; I really miss working on my Qx4. So, a fellow mechanical engineering major and myself have decided to start a project. We bought a 1986 Toyota Celica for $150 (that's the beauty of going to school in central pennsylvania). We've been pulling the car apart for the past month or so, removing any components we might want to use. Tomorrow we're dropping the engine, which we will rebuild here at school. We're then going to design and build an ultralight tubular steel chassis around the engine, which will be mid-mounted, and eventually supercharged. The goal is to build a super-light, ~150 horsepower, street legal go kart, capable of some massive acceleration. I'll post pictures and stuff as the project goes on, as well as, of course, some questions.

So all in all my Q is in really good shape. Just built up some normal wear and tear that i am now looking to get all fixed up.I just got about 8 little dings popped out on my car. I am getting it fully detailed tomorrow and just recieved some "custom" mixed touch up paint from paintscratch.com to go around and fix some old crappy chip touch up jobs. All of them are on the panels on the doors..the panels that look..and have been acting as stupd peoples door stoppers...I swear people have hit mine on purpose..it sucks. Can those panels be removed I figure it may make the touchup job easier. I also plan on repainting the rubber trim that goes over the fenders...the sun has beat the crap out of them and they turned brown..hope it works!Alsoanyone had any luck repainting their wiper arms mine on the front and back are chipped up and look like crap. I cant figure out how to get them off though! Anyone tried painting them while on the car Seems risky.

The car didnt start the other day (not saying this has to with the code coming up) but i verified it need a fuel sending unit and pump. While i replaced the pump and sending unit i was right there so i replaced the temp sensor also. I have been driving it for about two days now and the p0183 temp sensor code has came back. Does any one know why the code keeps coming back Any recalls or TCB's, i looked on alldata and it didnt have any recalls or bullitens. If you could all help me out i that would be great. im a brand new member and i look foward in helping out with any posts i may see in the future, thank you , Richard

Compass / Outside Temp Digital avail for upgrade

Hey everyone! Im new here, yet im excited because I have so many questions and upgrades i cant wait to get started on! First question is this:On my 2003 SE Pathfinder, where my rear view mirror is, i only have the sunglasses flip-down compartment, w/ the two overhead lights...in others, i see the Compass / outside digital temp gauge..and its beautiful. You think i could grab one online/junkyard something like that and have it work Going from the manual climate control, to digital is a bit more far fetched, but i didn't know if something like this was simpler Anyone done this beforeThanks!

What to do when the eye breaks off your ignition key.

I recently had the eye break off my ignition key. Here's what I did. There arefour tie-wraps, two going vertically, one going horizontally through both verticaltie-wraps, and around the key. The fourth doesn't really show in the picture, but is at the top and goes around both vertical tie-wraps and the little loop ofcord. These are SMALL tie-wraps, Ancor p/n 351225 (bag of 100) available atyou local ship's chandlery (West Marine, etc.). The loop of cord is to reduce thestress and it might be a good idea to do something like that BEFORE it breaks.Anybody got another solution

Belt noise

'97 Pathfinder XE 5spd, 100k, ridiculous belt screeching noise sound, doesn't go away regardless of hot/cold exposure...minutes to hours does not matter. Tried belt dressing and nothing! If I hold running water on the belts it is new car quiet, which leads me to believe that they are slipping on the pulleys, bad tensioners/pulleys Clutch fan is shot, doesn't lock up, can hold it with my hand while idling, would this cause the noise About to take a 12 guage to it, a little help here please...
