2006 Nissan Quest Bearing ISSUE

So I have a 2006 Quest 3.5SE 5-spd Auto. The drivers side CV Axle was shot so i replaced it with an aftermarket one. I noticed upon taking the old one out that it was sloppy on the transmission side. Put the new one in and all went well. The reason for this post is that it makes a horrible noise from the drivers side wheel well and its a pulsating noise. I figure its the hub bearing. Although when i turn the wheel, the noise doesn't progress or diminish. I jacked up the drivers side and shook the wheel...all is tight. I grabbed the CV axle in the middle and notice that on the transmission side it is terribly sloppy (moves up and down and side to side about 3/8 of an inch...now its a BRAND NEW CV Axle and not a refurbished one. Has anyone had any trouble with the tranny bearing going where the CV Axle goes into the trans ANY help or advise is appreciated.

Can anyone tell me where the TCM is located on my 2004 Quest

My 2004 Nissan Quest starting that problem where it does not go anywhere when you give it gas. Stop the car, turn it off, then restart it and it goes. Anyhow, we were told it was probably the TCM. We found a used one since the dealer wanted over $600. We just need to find out where it is located so we can replace it. We heard it was behind the glovebox. Can anyone help

Roof Rail Crossbars for 2008 Quest 3.5 SE with Glass Roof

I'm trying to get a set of crossbars for my 08 Quest. Called dealer and they said (after checking my VIN) that they're not available for my model. It's an SE model, with sunfoof in the front and the glass panels in the rear. There are factory installed rails (chrome) running front to back, and there are multiple screw holes/covers along them so I have to think something must go in there. The rails are not the round kind, they're more rectangular. Why put rails on it if there are no crossbars, rightAnyone else have this problem and find something to fit I'd rather not spend the $$ on a Thule/Yakima type setup, I just want to be able to strap some stuff up there every now and then. If you can help, pls let me know. Thanks

Headlight adjusters for 95 Quest

Hey Quest lovers out there,I just picked up a 1995 Quest with 109,000 miles. Of course after buying it I started to find allthe little stuff that needs to be fixed. So I'm looking for both headlight adjusters. The plastic washersthat hold them in place that the actual adjust screws go through are both snapped in half. Doesanybody know where I can get replacements without buying the whole headlight assembly. Also, I read on a website that Nissan will replace the motors on this model within a certain range ofserial numbers for a design defect that involves piston oiling. My new quest falls within this range.Anyone reading this that is aware of this or has had this done Please let me know. Either post orbetter yet email me. jcerny@morrisbb.net

2006 Quest Radio

My friend is buying a 2006 Quest. The stock radio in his dash is out and not working. Apparently it was in an accident and since the accident the radio has not worked. What options are there as far as the radio and have any of you encountered a similar issue with it Are there options to replace the stock radio with aftermarket, or are there options to have an aux input to the stock radio Apparently this vehicle is unequipped with an aux input from factory on this model. He tells me that it has a computer screen and that there are people that have converted that to the factory nav. Are all vehicles prewired for navigation Possible to find the nav units for the QuestLots of questions, thanks for your thoughts.

Strange Issues in My 2004 Quest (Gremlin)

Have a few strange things happening with our car.1. When you lock the doors it no longer beeps, yes I check and it is set for horn chirp on lock2. The Down Shift button on the gear selector is not selecting a gear when in L and push the button can't get the car into 2, same when in D can get the overdrive off3. Drivers Seat stopped sliding back on exit, yes, I check it is programmed to slide on exit. I did unplug the seat ECU and that did seem to fix the problem. It is like the Computer is hosed and needs to be rebooted. How long should I leave the battery disconnected to totally get the ECU's to forget any memory and go back to default.Any thoughts would be helpful.

Quest is messed up.

Van started acting up! It will start up and run for a couple of minutes. Then dies and doesn't start anymore, just cranks and cranks. Someone said it was the sensor by the throttle body. So we changed that, added a new air filter, and I think they bought a new throttle body also for it. But it still does it. No Luck there.I decided to check the fuses and low and behold, I found that the o2 sensor fuse under the dash is blown. Changed the fuse. So now it starts. I let it run for about ten minutes, then it starts to bog out and then dies. Started it back up, but I had to give it a little gas to get it started. It will start and run for a lil bit then it will bog out and stumble. Got to give it some gas when it tries to die. It will eventually bog out then die. Do you think its a bad o2 sensor Since the fuse was blown.Or I was thinking maybe the catylic converter is clogged upI don't know what it could be, I ran out of sunlight today. But I'm going to mess with it again tomorrow after church. I will let you guys know what else is going on with it.Thanks in advamce for any advice any of you guys can give... . .Modified by Dznutts at 3:05 AM 8/30/2009

1994 Quest Won't Start

We don't use this car very much. The battery was purchased in April of 2008 and tests OK with a multitester. We have one of those combination jump-starters/compressors and it will not start the car. No lights or accessories at all come on. No noises when ignition is turned.I looked at the various fuses and the ones I could examine look OK. Don't know what those one inch cubed-shaped fuses are or how to examine or extract them.Don't know if this is pertinent, but when I took it to be inspected in February, I noticed that the speedometer was not working. Any ideas for further checksThanks,Bartolo

Next Generation Nissan MiniVan - What do you Think Would you Buy It

The replacement for the Quest, the "Nissan Forum" sounds sweet to me.Although the power train hasn't been finalized yet and that will play a big part in my overall assessment of this vehicle. A small displacement efficient and powerful clean diesel or high efficiency hybrid gasoline would be a must for me, the reason I haven't bought a mini-van yet is because they all get terrible gas mileage, the Quest included, so if they can improve on that and do it for a reasonable price I'd be sold, and I'd trade my Rogue in (even thought I love this vehicle!). Let me know what you think: What items do you like, what do you dislike, did they miss anything, if so what Would you buy one of thesehttp://www.nissannews.com/news...d=468

Replacement radios

Hello everyone,I am new to this so bear with me. I have a 2004 Quest and the CD unit has gone south. I have found several radios to purchase bu the part numbers and descriptions are not the same. One is a 6 disc unit that fits a 2004 - 2006 Quest. I am wondering if it is a direct swap for what I have. If not, if there any way to find out which ones are a direct swap The van is my wife's and we have been extremely happy with it. The radio is the first real problem other than the front rotors which everyone seems to have a problem with. Thanks

How much fuel left in tank when warning light comes on...in an '07

The manual says "This light comes on when the fuel level in the fueltank is getting low." Duh! I want to know how many litres (approximately) remain in the tank at that point so that I can tell - roughly - how far I can still go. I also want to check the accuracy of the copmputer's disitance to empty feature.I can find out myself by simply filling right up as soon as the low fuel light comes on and seeing how many litres it actually takes. It's a 76 litre tank so if if it takes 70 litres then I'll know there's about 5 in resreve once the light comes on. I will do this myself anyway but I'm just wondering if this info is published anywhere.Btw, please don't tell me that it's not wise to run the tank that low. I know, but I just want to know, ya know

Intermittant Steerin Wheel Vibration

Just bought a 2004 Quest from the dealership (preowned obviously). There was something wrong with the steering column as I was getting a clunking noise inside it. They replaced it under warrenty and that fixed that issue. Unfortunately, it didn't resolve an intermittent steering wheel vibration that I get ... usually between 80 and 100 km/h (which was there before the steering column was replaced). The problem is that the majority of the time it's fine, so when I go to the shop, they can't replicate the problem. But when it happens, it's very noticeable ... the steering wheel shakes side to side quite significanly. The front end of the vehicle appears to be good, according to my mechanic. I had the front tires balanced too. No one can explain the issue. Anyone come across this problem Is this normal operating for this vehicle

2004 Nissan Quest - Important message to CHECK YOUR ECU Housing.

I own a 2004 Quest and recently it started to develop some strange codes and very odd engine behavior.A quick scan showed all the Oxygen sensors, MAF Sensor and the Fuel Evap-Valve were bad. Then the engine went into safe mode and would't go over 2200 RPM. The engine would buck and stutter like a new driver learning to drive car with a standard tranny.I replaced the MAF Sensor but the hesitation came back a few days later. A quick review by the Nissan techs found a bad connection at the Evap-Valve but nothing else. The other codes were all false. The tech had the scanner connected to the gang plug under the dash at first but he then decided to connect directly to the ECU. He was blown away by what he found! It turns out the ECU is located in such a crappy position, below the exterior plastic cowling for the cold air intake for the heating system, that it comes into contact with washer fluid and water that drips off the windshield. The warranty period for the Quest was recently extended to 5 years and 100, 000km in Canada so if you have a 2004-2007 Quest, you might want to take some time and check your own ECU. Mine was covered under Warranty, which expires April 30, 2009! Glad we caught it before the warranty expired. PS the ECU's are around $1000.00 cdn plus labour to replace....

I own a 2004 Quest and recently it started to develop some strange codes and very odd engine behavior.
A quick scan showed all the Oxygen sensors, MAF Sensor and the Fuel Evap-Valve were bad. Then the engine went into safe mode and would't go over 2200 RPM. The engine would buck and stutter like a new driver learning to drive car with a standard tranny.
I replaced the MAF Sensor but the hesitation came back a few days later.

Backup sensor not turning on And driver side window won't stay up

Hello there, Just picked up a 2006 Quest S Special Edition today. We like it alot. One item I am having trouble with is the backup sensor. The button has the off light on and it will not turn off (meaning it is in "off" full time). Anyone have suggestionsAlso, when you roll the driver's side window all the way up it then immediately opens by 1/4. The only way to get it to stay up is to hold the switch in the up position for 5 - 10 seconds after the window is all the way up.

Sunroof help

Hello, I am new to this forum, and I am so glad to have found it. Came across some interesting information. I am having a problem with the sunroof on my 96 Quest GXE. Well it is totally stuck in the open position worse of all. I tried ckn the fuses in the inside of the vehicle and they all seem to be good, I also didn't see any labeled sunroof. There was one for power windows under the hood by the drivers side; but it only operated the windows. I tried resetting it, by taking of the negative battery cable for a minute, but not luck there. I am going crazy with this sunroof, that if I ever get it closed I am never opening it up again. Can someone PLEASE help. I read in one site that there is an emergency crank in the front of the sunroof under a plug, but I couldn't find anything. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.ThanksEvie

93 Quest Fuel Tank

Before I disassemble more than I have to, what is the correct proceedure to drain the fuel tank. I don't see a drain plug and the shop manual just says drain it -not how. I need to drain iot as it is full and has set 18 months. The engine runs fine when I start it, but I'm afraid it will gum up the works if I burn too much of the stale fuel. I need to have it smogged by June and so must drive it at least 30 miles round trip.

2004 Quest SL brakes and rotors

Ok, I managed to nurse 35K miles out of the front brakes on my 2004 Quest. I feel fortunate compared to other stories I have heard. The rotors were turned twice; at 24K and 30K due to warping.I replaced the rear brake pads at 32K about the same time as the tires.I am wanting to know what other people may have found to be quality replacement brake pads and rotors to mitigate the brake system problems. Hopefully I can use the info to make a better decision for my front brakes.thanks!

new member w/2001 Quest with questions about obdII codes

Hi everyone, Rusty here... hope someone can help. I've got a 2001 quest with 117,000 miles on it. Had very little trouble with it, but I've got the service engine light. Took it just to see what it was to Autozone and the codes are 0325 (knocksensor) and 1440 (evap small leak). I have the Haynes manual but where it shows the charcoal canister to be located, mines not there and I can't locate it. Also, the connector that you can jumper across to clear the codes isn't where its supposed to be nor is the connector for the knocksenser where it's supposed to be. Can anyone share any info on where these parts are located. Also do you think it would be worthwhile to take this car to a nissan dealer and let them put there machine on it to further diagnose it.Thanks for any help.

3.0L runs ROUGH when warm...

I know it's not a true Nissan but it's a Nissan wrapped in Mercury clothing.I have a 95 mercury villager minivan, 3.0L auto, which has been pretty dependable for all my needs.Today it started doing something strange and I'm at a loss as where to start looking for a solution to this problem. Here's the scenerio:Engine runs normal when first started (cold), but as it heats to normal operating temperature (about 15 min.) it begins to run VERY VERY rough. At this point it starts sputtering, coughing and the vehicle becomes inoperable (no power, backfire and will not get past approx. 10-15 mph) and will not run smooth again until engine cools. At NO point does the CEL come on.Now that's the part that is getting me, after it cools off it will fire up and run fine till it reaches normal operating temp again.I's obvious to be temp related but whatIf an O2 sensor it would throw a code.If a MAF it would also throw a code.It runs fine when cold so I ruled out timing belt issues.Maybe a crank sensor, would that throw a trouble code ECU I dunnoI sure would appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks in advance...

1999 nissan quest v6 3.3L 140k miles auotmatic

I have a 1999 nissan quest v6 3.3L 140k miles automatic. I was driving on the highway and the car started to miss a little and then it died out when I got to the side of the road. I pulled over and checked everything out and everything looked good so I started driving again and I got just a little bit down the road and it died out again. Now this time it wouldn't start. So i got the car towed to my house. The next day I started the car and let it idle and it turned off after 10 minutes. I tried the next day and it also tuned off after idling for 10 minutes. The only issues I notice with the car is a squeaky belt and I know of the stabilizer belts are bad.The only things I had to do in the past year is change the alternator.I do have a check engine light and got the following codes.P0110 Intake Air Temperature SensorP0325 Knock SensorP0340 Camshaft Position SensorP0731 Gear 1 Incorrect RatioP1336 Cranshaft Position SensorAny ideas whats going on or what to check for

New 2000 Quest owner w/ intro and a question

Hello all! First post so I thought I would intro myself before I ask my question. Just picked up my fiancee' a one owner, all records 2000 Quest GLE w/ 98K on the clock. Dark blue over silver w/ charcoal leather and all the bells and whistles. I'm a car guy that works on jets full time and at a custom car shop part time. So I know my way around cars and tools. Now on to my question:I got a set of 2004 350Z rims w/ tires for cheap. I bolted them up to the Quest and there are no fitment issues at all. They look great on there. About a day later the car threw a CEL. I read the codes and pulled up a P1706 and P0325 on a Mac Tool code reader. They read out as MFR CONT TRANS and KNOCK SENSOR, CIRCUIT 1 BANK 1. I erased the codes and it drove fine for a day. The CEL light just came back on again and I am assuming it's the same codes.I've also had a Viper 791 remote start/alarm installed as well however that was 4 days before the CEL came on.According to a search on here P1706 comes up as Park Neutral Postion switch/circuit. I'm not sure what that is exactly and I'm hoping you Nissan guru's can help a fellow car guy out. Thanks in advance!

Nissan Quest reliability -- better info -- please sign up

I wanted more up-to-date auto reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started conducting reliability research at TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so any significant changes in a model's reliability become apparent quickly. Thanks to the help of NICOClub, for which I am very grateful, TrueDelta has been providing results for most Nissan and Infiniti models. For the Quest, though, we still need more participants to include it in the survey.Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter. To encourage participation, panel members receive full access to the results for free. For the details, and to sign up to help out:Vehicle reliability research

oil pan leak, now car won't do anything but idle

so i bottomed out the good old 95 quest the other night, drove it home while it was leaking, it seemed fine, figured i'd get the leaking oil pan taken care of and the car would be fine.well the next day i put some jb weld over the little hole in the pan, fill her up with some new oil, turn the car on, it starts fine, put it in reverse and try to back out and it won't go! it's like it's stuck in neutral.... i really hope it isn't transmission trouble, but i'm pressed to think of what else it could be any suggestions

Hi guys,Please help me out.My Quest suddenly overheated in one day. And then the thermostat got changed. But now, I got a puzzle to figure out. The scenario has lasted for a few days as follow:- I parked my quest outdoors. it is about -5C ~ -10C in the night- in the morning, after 5 minutes the quest got overheating- keeps driving slowing or let engine running in idle, or shut down/restart the engine, the temperature keeps increasing- when it is overheating, the upper hose is warm, but not hot, and the lower hose is cold. the radiator is cold. the coolant is enough.- after a few minutes, the temperature will suddenly drop to normal.- in the rest of the day, the car won't get overheating until the next morning.- after the temperature is back to normal, the lower hose is warm, the radiator is warm, and the fan will be running on/off.please help!

faulty odometer on 2004 quest any way to get a true reading on it

I have a 2004 quest se. The odometer is unreadable as if the led lights are burnt out and the backup sensors are not working. I can not reset the back up sensor when I restart the vehicle. Also, the gas gauge and temperature gauge is missing led lights. My question is .... is there a way to get a true reading on the odometer so that the repairs will be covered under warranty

I have a 2004 Quest that has an issue with the radio. Radio will cut out with no reason. All electronics still function as if working, just no sound. The speakers will work in the rear, then the front, then no sound, etc. Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and is it something repairable, and if so, can anyone tell me how, I am mechanically capable. Thanks!

2005 Transverse Link - Leaking

Took a look under the van cuz there was blue/black drops of fluid under just where the driver sits. I see drops coming from the bushing at the back of the transverse link. I thought this would simply be a rubber bushing....does anyone know if this bushing contains any fluid Don't want to change the transverse link and find out the fluid is coming from somewhere else (though I don't see any potential sources near here). Thanks, mike

Oil dripping from Oil Filter

For the past year we have been getting oil spots on the driveway. There was oil on the oil filter and it was dripping off of it. I cleaned and checked everything as well as replaced the filter many times. My guess is that the front seal is leaking and the oil is migrating to the oil filter. Does this sound rightI also noticed that after changing the oil from 10w 30 to 5w 30 for the winter that the oil spots were much larger.thnxs
