Good news for owners of CVT-equipped Cubes!

Anyone who's had a transmission fixed knows it can cost thousands of dollars for both the unit and the labor. And the cost of repair of a CVT transmission can outpace that of a more conventional transmission with four to six forward speeds as most repairs require that the transmission is replaced. Thankfully, Nissan has been listening to its customers, and as a result, the Japanese automaker is doubling the length of its warranty from five years and 60,000 miles to ten years and 120,000 miles. That's all well and good for Nissan CVT owners who have yet to experience an issue, but what about Nissan CVT owners who have already shelled out thousands for repairs Good news, Nissan is going to reimburse you for your pricey fix. If you've already paid for a CVT repair, you'll need to fill out Nissan's Reimbursement Form (downloadable from Nissan's letter to customers) and follow the instructions. Nissan is also looking after customers who have to repair their CVT transmissions outside of warranty, working with suppliers and dealers to lower the cost of replacement transmissions and repairs.

anyone have this issue

Im actually taking my car in later today to have it checked...twice in a row when i went to turn the engine off - I could not get my key out. Eventually of course i finally got it out (without knowing how) the first time it occurred. This morning it happened again (at the drs office). So i had to leave the key in the engine for 2 hours. I did call my nissan dealer and they had NO clue what hte issue was.SO... when i got home- i put the car in park and the automatic shift's button popped out (sorry i dont know the proper terms). NOW i realized that was the problem since the key came right out. HOWEVER both times I put the car in park - I DID try the shift to park to make sure that wasnt the problem. Obviously it is.I should find out today if there is a problem with my car - but has anyone else had this issueTHANKS

BEFORE I START I WANT TO THANK GREG FOR THE OPORTUNITY TO HIT THE GUYS FROM TOKICO SUSPENSIONthey need it a local cube to do a test and fit so they worked on the cube yesterday morning using the kit they make for the versaas expected it fitted like a glovehere are the picsthey actually look nice with the orange megan springs we took the cube for a quik spin after they installed the shocks.a big diference felt rite away over the already exploted oem,s, the cube is much more firm at hard curves and a lot less body roll, still they made the cube feel more comfortable kinda like when you just bought the cube rite off the dealer, thinking that im rolling on 18" with low profile tires the results are amazing.now the cube doesnt feel so hard on the road potholes or street damages as of now if you are interested on thems you must order as versa kits just like with megan, sbut the tokico guys said around december they will have them under nissan cube, i guess the only thing they have to do is the label boxes.once again thank you so much TOKICO guys and greg

KILLERGLASS.....DIY

well its finally here and with time supertight on hands even the guys at killerglass didnt even had enough time to do the installation themselves due SEMA so i picked up the kit and just got a quick explanation from thems, also i got an instruction page on how to do itTOOLS:long nose plierscutting bladeheat gunprob. one of the easiest mods to do on your cube with simple tools, if you dont have a heat gun use a hair dryer and for pliers you can use almost any kind as long as it compress the clamps properly.you have the choice to either use your oem water hose or actually buy a spare one, after that you can choose to use the new one or still use the oem for the job.your starting point is to measure the killerglass on top of the oem hose to have an acurate cut on both sides, you gotta cut the hose where it will meet the end of the killerglass grooves, myself i decide to use the new hose and leave the oem alonesee here the cut proces and measure picstry to cut the hose with extra gap, you dont wanna cut it to short and then be in the need for an extra hose, cut it slowly until you think is pretty tight.once you got it on a nice measure take it off trying to keep eveything on place, now is time to slide the gates clamps, this clamps shrink with heat so make sure you dont pop the inner cardboard until the very moment you are ready to install them, make sure the gates clamps go over the killerglass grooves and at the same time to grab a good part of the hoseonce i finished mine i put it on top of my xb and leave it alone while i got a couple more things ready for the cube, 10 minutes later just seating on the sun the clamps already had some shrinking on themsnow it is time for heat gun action, using the heat gun on high i shoot heat rite on the gates clamps while spining the killerglass so it wont get to hpt to a point you cant hold it.i did the heating process 3 times and 5 minutes each and even when i thought i had it tight the pics shows in one side of the killerglass how it wasnt the closest to the killerglass, still it did a great job sealing the hose, those gates clamps are GREAT!once it cools off a little bit you can now go ahead and place the killerglass on position, if it fits fine go ahead and put back the oem clamps on each side of the killerglass and you are done with it, add the missing coolant back in and you will see it go in thru the glass is pretty cool!run the engine for a quik minute and check the installation for any leak, after that drive the car for a little bit just so the more water goes thru the new killerglass installation, no leaks and you are done and guess what from driving the cube for a bit the engine will send heat thru the killerglass so one more time the gates clamps with be under heat shrinking.gates clamps are used on high end companys like NASA, the guys at killerglass told me until this day not one clamp has come back defective or leaking and mine didnt dissapoint at all.thank you so much killerglass, not only a fun do it yourself but also very easy

KSport releases coilover suspension for Cube

KSport USA is pleased to announce the release of their 2010-Model Kontrol Pro Damper System for the Nissan Cube. The Nissan Cube is a Mini-MPV which is currently being produced for the North American and Japanese Domestic Markets, and is planned for release across Europe. The 2010 Kontrol Pro Damper System for the Nissan Cube include all of the features one would expect of KSport coilovers, including quality and flexible performance. The recently improved Electro-plated shock body, Pillowball Upper Mounts in the front, rear Aluminum Top Mounts, as well as the increased strut body diameter and a color change all come together to complete the performance and aesthetics people have become accustomed to when using KSport Damper Systems. The recently improved shock electro-plating means the KSport Damper Systems last through the elements. Whether road grime, water, mud, or sand and dirt, KSport Damper Systems are engineered to overcome the abuse seen by both track and street cars. The aluminum rear mounts allow for a lightweight, yet durable and solid strut mounting point. KSports patented Pillow Ball Upper Mounts, which are found on the front struts for the Nissan Cube Damper Systems allow for increased adjustability, and are more durable than stock shock mounts. KSport has also changed the color of their shock bodies from the previous silver finish to a more subtle gloss black.Since many Cube owners will likely be seeking an extremely low ride height, many end users will be taking advantage of KSports adjustable lower mount in order to achieve an aggressive stance for their vehicle. By using an adjustable lower shock mount, KSport Dampers allow independent adjustment of both ride height and spring pre-load. This has multiple advantages, including increased shock longevity as well as improved tuning of suspension systems. By allowing independent adjustment of both spring pre-load as well as ride height, the shock is able to retain full travel while the vehicle can be raised or lowered to the vehicle owners specifications. In addition to a wide range of ride height adjustability, KSport Damper Systems feature 36 levels of damping adjustment. With these three easy to make adjustments, KSport Damper Systems have nearly unlimited configuration possibilities.

3 questions about my cube....

Hello to everyone. I just found this forum and since I have a few questions about my cube was hoping I could get some answers from fellow cube drivers.1). Does anyone ever have the issue with the engine revving pretty much on its ownSometimes Ill just be driving and the engine will seem to get more power without me doing anything. This happens when not in cruise control - I do know it will do this while driving up hills. Is there something wrong2). My back doors have a "hole" (one on each door) l - under the door handle. It looks like something should have been installed there. Anyone know what this is for3). Do any of hte cubes have door locks on the back doors This is my first 4 door car and its actually annoying to have the back doors open and have to have my key handy OR open the front door to lock the car. Just wondering if that option came with a higher price.THANKS SO MUCH for any help.

Anyone else notice that when pulled down, the vanity mirrors are huge! I had real bad sun glare the other day, and not only do I have to reach kinda far to pull them down, but they block my whole view when driving. Unless you push them all the way back, it pretty much takes up the whole view when driving. I don't know, I try to not use them that much haha .

NST pulley.....DIY....on a nissan cube

today was freaking hot! perfect day to install the pulley on the cube, i got it since monday morning but the last couple days here were just cloudy and wet, oktools you will need:flat screwdriver19mm socketbig wratchet and long socket wrench9/16 wrench small wratchet with extension and a 10mm socketjack and jack standsstart lifting the car and remove the front passenger wheel, after that put the jack stand rite next with the jack (safety is always a must)-after that start by removing the quik snaps all around you wheel protector and a few ones under (just pry up with the flat screwdriver and they come off)-once you finished with the quik snaps remove the couple 10mm screws that are holding the front part of the wheel protector-after that move half way back the wheel protector and you will see the oem pulley along with the rest of the engine components-next step is removing the belt, with the 9/16 wrench pull the tenssioner so the belt can loosen up and take the belt off, the tenssioner is rite on top the oem pulley with a hexagon shape-the next step is to lossen the pulley, this can be done easily with an air gun but i dont have air tools at all and due to the size of the holes on the oem pulley you also cant use the pulley puller kit that you can loan at auto zone or pep boys so this is what i did to undo the bolt with the use of the 5/8 wrench and a strong bolt trap the oem pulley so it cant rotate anymore see the pictures below-unscrew the big bolt with the 19mm socket and the long bar, once you hear a pop it means the bolt got losse, take off the wrench that was holding the oem pulley and continue removing the big bolt-dont panic if you see oil coming out of the bolt that holds the pulley it will be only a couple drops-next with the flat screwdriver pry off the oem pulley, take your time and do it on a left&right sequence you will see the pulley will start to move around and soon it will come off -next you will have the chance to compare both pulleys, the nst and the oem together, you will notice rite away how heavy the oem is compared with the nst-now you are ready to installthe new nst pulley -use some of the oil that came off the big bolt and put some inside the nst pulley -align the pulley with the engine shaft and pop it position just so it stays up there-dont hit or slam the pulley to get it all way inside, instead used the big bolt again and tighten it little by little, you will see the pulley going in with no problem at all, once both pulley and bolt start to rotate together remove the bolt again just to make double sure that everything looks good in there- after that procced to install the big bolt again and get it ready for a strong tight-once you notice again the pulley rotates with the bolth when you tighten it do the wrench trick with the screw again and give it a good strong tight you will notice the engine will shift down a little bit as you tighten it for the last round (use a terry towel to wrap the wrench around the pulley so you dont scratch it when you tighten the bolt-get the belt back on position and make sure the grooves meet the belt lines and after that you are ready to goreverse all the steps and put back the wheel protector back in place from here and after is your own decision to just leave it as normal or cut a small window like me so you can see the pulley.remember! take your time and dont rush it, total time it took me just about one hour no air tools and no pulley puller kit need it

today was freaking hot! perfect day to install the pulley on the cube, i got it since monday morning but the last couple days here were just cloudy and wet, ok
tools you will need:
flat screwdriver
19mm socket
big wratchet and long socket wrench
9/16 wrench
small wratchet with extension and a 10mm socket
jack and jack stands

start lifting the car and remove the front passenger wheel, after that put the jack stand rite next with the jack (safety is always a must)
-after that start by removing the quik snaps all around you wheel protector and a few ones under (just pry up with the flat screwdriver and they come off)
-once you finished with the quik snaps remove the couple 10mm screws that are holding the front part of the wheel protector
-after that move half way back the wheel protector and you will see the oem pulley along with the rest of the engine components

-next step is removing the belt, with the 9/16 wrench pull the tenssioner so the belt can loosen up and take the belt off, the tenssioner is rite on top the oem pulley with a hexagon shape

-the next step is to lossen the pulley, this can be done easily with an air gun but i dont have air tools at all and due to the size of the holes on the oem pulley you also cant use the pulley puller kit that you can loan at auto zone or pep boys so this is what i did to undo the bolt
with the use of the 5/8 wrench and a strong bolt trap the oem pulley so it cant rotate anymore see the pictures below

-unscrew the big bolt with the 19mm socket and the long bar, once you hear a pop it means the bolt got losse, take off the wrench that was holding the oem pulley and continue removing the big bolt
-dont panic if you see oil coming out of the bolt that holds the pulley it will be only a couple drops
-next with the flat screwdriver pry off the oem pulley, take your time and do it on a left&right sequence you will see the pulley will start to move around and soon it will come off

-next you will have the chance to compare both pulleys, the nst and the oem together, you will notice rite away how heavy the oem is compared with the nst

-now you are ready to installthe new nst pulley
-use some of the oil that came off the big bolt and put some inside the nst pulley
-align the pulley with the engine shaft and pop it position just so it stays up there
-dont hit or slam the pulley to get it all way inside, instead used the big bolt again and tighten it little by little, you will see the pulley going in with no problem at all, once both pulley and bolt start to rotate together remove the bolt again just to make double sure that everything looks good in there

- after that procced to install the big bolt again and get it ready for a strong tight
-once you notice again the pulley rotates with the bolth when you tighten it do the wrench trick with the screw again and give it a good strong tight you will notice the engine will shift down a little bit as you tighten it for the last round (use a terry towel to wrap the wrench around the pulley so you dont scratch it when you tighten the bolt
-get the belt back on position and make sure the grooves meet the belt lines
and after that you are ready to go

reverse all the steps and put back the wheel protector back in place
from here and after is your own decision to just leave it as normal or cut a small window like me so you can see the pulley.

<IMG
Is anyone else having this problem with their Cube's brakes squeaking I know its a new car, but I'm still a little worried when I hear it, especially since it's been happening for a little over a week now. I read somewhere that new cars shouldn't have this problem, and if they do, it's only because the brakes are wet, but the other day my brakes squeaked quite bad, and it was completely dry out. I only seem to have this problem when coming to a complete stop or going down a hill. If it continues, I'm bringing it in..

New Cube questions

First,a bit of info on me -- Ive been lurking around here gathering info and ideas (help with my old Nissans, mostly) and finally got to the point I just need decent, inexspensive, new car. I don't need a bunch of goodies and gadgets to get me back and forth to work and I really HATE car payments since I run up miles quick.....So yesterday I went to the dealer with price bieng a huge concern, but also thinking I have to "like" the car if I'm making a payment at all.....Looking them over, I couldn't talk myself into even bothering with a test drive of a Versa....everything else was a higher payment than I'm willing to deal with (allthough Nissans pre-aproval thingy thinks I can afford 600 bucks a month!!!)....so, I now have a nice white Cube 1.8 with the 6 speed manual in my driveway! I have only 2 questions:1: The base model radio only as front speakers. Is it worth it to add just the rear 2 and are they anything special, or standard type I figure the wiring is already there....2: I also see the rear cargo area organizer is offered, but does anyone have a good basic mat for that area Preferably the deep type like Weather Tech makes for everything BUT the Cube....I usually end up carrying potentially dirty stuff - tools / parts back there. Maybe I just missed somethig, but I didn't see the dealer offering a mat for there......

As the title implies, what do you think about Cubes being collectables in the future The Kroms would more than likely be more desierable over the S and SLs. If kept in good condition for the next 20 - 30 years... what do you think Maybe the next "Mini Cooper" type collectable Just some food for thought and plus Im bored!

If so is there a trick to doing so that's what i'd love to find. But one dealer told me if you get an sl you have to get one of the packages and that just sounds way shady. then another dealer was looking around in the area outside their dealership and said all of the sl's in the area had some sort of extra package. I just want the base sl and nothing more. any one have any tips on if this is even possiblethanks

Dynamatting a Cube

I did a little research and on the Dynamat website I found a Honda Element (closest car size/type to a Cube) install page. Info: $520 with 11 hours of work for a novice. So Im taking that as just parts expense. Expert time is 8 hours. How much would labor add on to the costMy main concern is how hard is it to pop all the side panels and take out the seats and carpet Where can I find a reliable company that can do this and would it be practical to put Dynamat in a Cube Thanks a lot and any help is gladly appreciated!

so just did a test drive this evening and when i got in i was really surprised to see a sunroof. cause i had tested the car at another dealer and none of theirs had this option. when i asked the dealer about it he didn't really know anything and said maybe it was after market. but again he wasn't sure. but nothing on the window info sheet mentioned the sunroof or an extra price for it. anyone have any more info on this i had to leave right after the drive so i couldnt check if any other one had it.

My cube is already scratched and chipped!!!!

So I was following some A$$hat in some other type of Nissan, and i wasn't following too close or anything like that, but i could hear something being thrown up at the front of my car for about 10-15 seconds... So i immediately notice specks in my windshield then in my whole front area when i got home.. I think that guy must have had snow tires on or something, because now my car has a bunch of micro chips in it everywhere..Anyway, this happened a couple weeks ago and i am unsure what to do about it. I live in Virginia Beach so Snow tires are not at a normal thing around here. The scratches are thankfully under the front bumper fairing area, so it isn't noticeable to anyone other than me, when i was it. And when they delivered the car to me the night i took it home, there were already swirl marks in the hood from where the dealer guy detailed it.. I am not having any luck with this kind of issue already. ARRRG!!

cube with ROTORA big brake kit

well finally the day has come, i made the jump to have the first US carbon hood, first cube with hood dampers and now the first cube with a big brake kit and who else better for that than ROTORA i deliver the cube wednesday and friday they called me and say my cube was ready but i had to pick it up today due to my working schedulethe first and most important note i have to bring up is that the bracket wasnt the same of for versa,s they had to tweak with it a little bit to make the cube own,s bracket, the rest was easy for them, being sucha huge brake kit my wheels didnt clear them so they had to put small spacers (my wheels are +38) quiet braking and quik on the pedal it feels a million times better, not sure if they will clear 17" wheels, my 18" seem like they barely give space for the calipers

Got my car back but missing shaggy carpet.

My car was hit by a bicylclist few weeks ago. Took it in (bodyshop) last week and picked it up on Friday and found my shaggy carpet is missing. It has been sitting on the floor (rear) since I've bought the car. Went in this AM to talk to mgr and he told me he will looked. I am really upset that who would want to still something like that. I am hoping it is just mis-placed in the shop somewhere and they will return it with the un-used velcro. Before I drop off the car I 've already took out all valuables already including my GPS. Didn't thing the shaggy carpet is a valuable. It always make me upset when car gets service/repaired. Something always happen to my car. 007

My company has an annual car show this month. I have already signed up with my Cube. There are no specific category but will be competing against some heavy weights: Ferrari, Lambo, custom raced cars/bikes, classics.Anyone think I have a chance There will be voting and is mainly based on look. I am confident the Cube will have a good chance unlike others which have been competing with the same car year after year.007

Got to looking at my cube and noticed the rear wheels have a good bit of negative camber, since I havent seen another cube I have nothing to compare with. To me it's very noticeable. What does you're rear camber look likeI'm getting a camber gauge soon and will be doing some checking just to see if it's real or an optical illusion.I'm not overly concerned about it, mostly curious. Regardless of what it is now, it will be corrected anyway with shims once I lower it.Does anyone have the manufacture's alignment specs for the cube. - Dan

Eagle One Nanowax

Is anyone here other than me using Eagle One Nanowax in the spray bottle If your using it, what to you thinkSince my Cube is black I obsess with the paint, thats why I usually dont buy black cars. Black is one of the prettiest colors but a real PITA to keep up.Anyway, some of you know. I drove between 600 700 miles to get my Cube. Shortly after I picked it up I had to drive it the long journey back home. I drove through the night arriving home about 1:30 A.M., needless to say I went in for a nap. When I woke up I went out to the Cube and it had about a bazillion bugs splattered all over the front. So I mixed up some dish soap and warm water and gave it a good washing. I know, your not supposed to use dish soap. I did this purposely to get every bit of wax, oils, and dead bugs off, then I dried it. Next I took it into the garage and put Xzilon paint protectent on it, the next morning I put a second coat of Xzilon on the hood and front facia. After the Xzilon set I wanted to put on a nice coat of wax. Everything Ive ever read about Xzilon, like paint, it needs proper care using a good wax with no cleaning agents (grit). I looked up every wax I own and they all have some cleaning agents even stating that they can remove very fine scratches, even the bottle of NXT. But the Eagle one has no cleaning agents and is purely a liquid synthetic wax.Ive had the car now about two weeks, Im thinking its been washed and waxed now about 8 times, but man is this thing smooth and shineyLOL - Dan

High Pitched Noise

Hi fellow Cube owners. I was driving on the freeway earlier today and noticed a high pitched noise. I turned off the radio and noticed the sound appeared when I drove at least 70mph. Driving slower than 70 and the sound would disappear. The sound is very annoying now that I notice it. I was thinking it might be wind noise coming from the windshield. I'm hoping it's not the engine or something serious. Maybe it's part of the breaking in process. Any ideas Has anyone else experienced this problem Thanks for the help.

Auto Financing 101

Long, but read......Just a little tid-bit I learned about getting your car financed. I just bought a 2009 Nissan Cube last week. One of the deal clinchers is that I was just coming off of a lease on an 06 Nissan Frontier. Because of the lease, my financing was already pre approved through Nissan up to x amount.Anyway, I returned my truck and made a deal on this Cube. Signed all the papers and brought the new Cube home.I got a call from the dealership telling me their finance person missed a signature and they would be sending me a new contract to sign, assuring me there were no changes, just a missed signature line.I got the new contract and read it over. Sure enough there were no changes. But if you look over the contract closely you will see a block that say's "SELLERS RIGHT TO CANCEL".If you read the terms it basically say's that the dealer can request the car back anytime withih 60 day's if they have a problem getting the financing through. This is the block I didn't originally sign. Their finance person didn't have me sign it because my financing was pre-approved. I wouldn't have agreed to this anyway. In my case this term wouldn't apply since my financing was already pre-approved. I learned that if you sign this block, this gives the dealer blanket authority to request the return of the car and to change the terms of the contract for more money by simply telling you that the financial institute wouldn't approve of the contract as originally submitted, and they want different terms. You have the car and don't want to give it back, so you will most likely agree to a slightly higher interest rate, payment, etc. making the dealer more money. So, if your like me and have pre approved financing, this condition doesn't apply. Be sure to have the dealer write accross it "Not Applicable" before you sign. Even if this doesn't apply the block still has to be signed, so be sure it's marked NA, because if you don't, this gives the dealership the leverage needed to change your financing or take the car back. The new contract they sent me didn't have NA written accross that condition and I refused to sign it. I called them and b****ed them out. I caught them trying to pull a fast one on me. Had I signed it and sent it back, they would have manipulated it into another contract with "new terms and conditions" to their benefit. In my case, they already know how much Nissan approved me for. And since I was well under that amount this gave the dealership some room to increase my payment, or their profit by simply telling me they couldn't get the financing through (it's usually an interest rate spike they're after).Anyway, they're sending me another contract. This time with "NOT APPLICABLE" written accross this statement.I researched the subject and from what I've learned. This term / condition has been added onto just about all financial contracts that dealerships use regardless of who they're doing the financing through. It's a bogus term is designed to give the dealerships leverage to change the terms on their behalf. It's just like the so called dealer fees. Dealer fees are nothing more than a tacked on amount the dealer asses to a sale, it's nothing more than a little more profit. The buyer get's absolutely nothing, no benefit what so ever from a dealer fee. - Dan

Lowered Cube comfort

So, for those of you who have lowered your Cube with aftermarket springs, what do you think of it.I know some of you have already done this and I'd like you to be as honest as you can about the ride quality, and bottoming out your shocks.I plan to lower mine simply because I like the look. I'm not at all doing it for improved handling, if better handling is a by product then great. My Cube is going to be used as my daily driver, I don't race anymore so the aspect of improving handling is much lower on the list of importance than the ride.I've been doing Sport Compacts for many years and one of the things that always made me cringe is how some people won't even be honest with themself. Often people will swear up and down that their lowered car's ride was very similar to stock. But when I ride in the car I find it pretty harsh or bouncy. Some people won't admit that their choice of springs were a bad choice, and since they're vested in what they bought they defend it regardless of the reality. One of the things I've learned is that you can't always depend on brand name or price being the better choice.I've done 100's of sport compact suspensions over a span of 10 years, many times a no name coil spring would ride and hold up better than the "High Dollar" competition and experience and information is the only true test.I realize the Cube is a very new car so there's not a ton of data out there yet. But if those of you who are running on lowered springs would give me some good honest feedback I'd really appreciate it. - DanI don't want it slammed so coil overs aren't being considered, and living on a retirement income coil overs are cost prohibitive anyway.

So I'm a professional designer and I just purchased a new Cube but I can't find a Nissan Cube shirt for the life of me. I was considering printing a few unique designs oriented around the cube.I'd love for some input and suggestions on my work. I'll have them on the forum within the next week. Also, if anyone would be interested, let me know. These will not be childish designs built on an online program I'll add a few this week

Anyone know of an easy way to make the rear seats removeable

Hey I know I can take out the rail bolts and remove the whole assembly but I was wondering if anyone knew of a simple way to just hit some kind of release that would let the back seat slide right out of its tracks the way old Volkswagen seats used to. It's a bummer that they didn't design the seats to tumble. I figure if they just slide out, they should be easy enough to remove and store when I need that extra cargo room.kaos
