Well, there were at least 100 buttons/keys pushed in order for me to type that sentence, and during the creation of this thread 100 unknown people died, so I would be extremely happy receiving $100million right now.

I mean seriously!? That movie should be 30sec long...

We just had one of these disks show up here at work.

Have you guys heard of this? Apparently you buy the disk and once you open it, the glue inside reacts with oxygen and begins breaking down. After 2 days the disk becomes unplayable.

I could rant on the economics, waste of resources, high price of existing DVD's, ect... but I'll just summarize my feelings with one word; Stupid.

Alright, I just finished watching this online and I must say, do not watch this film, regardless if you're a fan of DBZ or not. First off, the acting was terrible. No, not terrible, beyond terrible, I can't even think of a word to describe it. The guy who played Goku is just...you could shoot him, stab him, and he would still be emotionless. It was very obvious that he was trying to be tough, especially in his fight with Piccolo, and FAILED.

Next up, the plot. It was bad, very very bad. It was so bad, I told my roommate everything that happened in the movie in 2 minutes, quite literally. The plot is very predictable and very loosely follows, if at all, the anime series/manga.

Special effects were mediocre at best. It just didn't blend in at all.

Costume design was crap as well. Piccolo looked terrible, but he was indeed green (They got something right!). Master Roshi is not old, hunchback, bald, etc. He's a very healthy 50 year old man.

The fight scene between Goku and Piccolo was a load of s***. It was very, very short.

All in all, this movie was a complete waste of $100 million, which was the budget. Extremely cheesy, corny, idiotic. I would very much suggest not wasting your time and money watching this movie.

New car graphic novel coming out

Hello Nicoclub, my name is Shaun and I have been working on a new comic entitled "Neverending Dream" that I think that some of you may be into. It revolves around a girl who is a D1 drifter and SCCA racer and loses her memory; the crux of the story is her traveling across the country to find out who she is. I'll skip the rest of the details, but feel free to visit the blog in my siggy to find out more. I'm posting here because quite a few of the cars in the book are Nissans; the main car is a 350Z, fitted with a Top secret kit and a bunch of other surprises. I'm keeping all of the parts and cars "real world"; i.e., no pink s2000's jumping off bridges and the like. You will, however, see a bunch of Nissan cars; there's a S14, S15, 350z, R33, R34, and R35 just to name a few of the cars. It actually has a wide variety of autos; JDM, american, and euro. Even some sportbikes! haha but enough of me trying to make everything sound super sweet. I'm just trying to gauge interest in the book, and get some feedback on the look of the art style; the picture here is how the entire book looks, and like I said, please feel free to stop by the blog to check it out more in-depth. Wow, talk about a step in the right direction. Granted, they will likely market it for multi-room setups where it could be possible for one, 2 channel amp to power speakers in 10 different rooms simultaneously. In any case, folks will now be introduced to economical amp power. I hope this catches on and more and more HT friendly "pro style" amps will be produced...IE more 4 and 5 channel amps instead of just 2 channel amps.

Question about 35mm film

So I just came across a few rolls of film that have to be about 10 years old. Its Kodak gold 200 if that makes any difference. I know its past its shelf life but what is it going to do to the negatives? I'm going to be taking a photography class so I'll have dark room access and it won't cost me anything to develop so I was thinking of playing with it and seeing what happens.

Any thoughts? I just a little worried about it breaking or leaving anything in the camera body.

For those of you that have showtime on demand, this should be in the movies section. Those of you that have seen this please chime in with your feedback.

This is yet another documentary by Michael Moore. The first thing you all should know is that i COMPLETELY disagree with Moore on almost everything he says or does.

This film broke my heart. It's about the US healthcare, how hard it is to get insurance, and how hard it is (when covered) to get insurance to pay. He takes trips canada, england, france, and cuba. He interviews several doctors and former americans who now live there about the universal health care, government paid school, colleges, etc.

The part that really got to me, was that Moore took 3 boat loads of US citizens who are sick (no insurance, insurance won't cover their particular illness, etc.) to Havana, Cuba to a government run hospital. (Three of these people were volunteer 9/11 relief workers who contracted serious illnesses directly from working at ground zero - but were denied the 9/11 workers relief fund). They were all treated in Cuba - FREE OF CHARGE!!!!

One of the relief workers, because of her illness, now has to raise her two kids on her $1,000/month social security/disability check. of that $1000, she has to buy 2 inhalers a month that cost $120 here in the US. Their first stop in Cuba was a pharmacy where Moore got her the exact same inhaler for 3.20 pesos or ~$0.05 each. ($120 in the US/$0.05 in cuba) The woman broke down crying saying she wishes she could fill a suitcase with them and take it home.

I believe this movie will open your eyes to the alarming fact of what's going on around us. And I think it is an absolute necessity that everyone sees this.

So I'm now stepping into the dslr world. I picked up a Canon 30D body and a Tamron 28-200 lens last week. I haven't had a chance to get out and take any good pictures with the crappy weather and just being busy, but so far it takes very nice detailed pictures. What newer products (7.1, HDMI, THX Plus or Ultra 2, etc) are you using that you like and what are you comparing them to?

I currently have a older Pioneer VSX-D509S that has been a great 5.1 receiver but it's time to upgrade. Prior to the Pioneer I was a big Kenwood fan but really loved the Pioneer (my wife has one of the last high-end Kenwood units (KRF-X9090) and I have not been impressed with it). At this point I'm looking at either the Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH or the Pioneer Elite SC-05 (ICE amplification).

Anyone using one of these receivers?

So I picked up my first digital camera last week:

Canon SX110 IS
I don't know too much about it but so far I like that it has a huge, clear LCD, takes 2x AAs and has tons of settings for many various shots, Im still learning them.

This is my first step into photography so I'm pretty much messing around and trying to get a hang of some of the basic settings and whatnot. I have several friends with Canon's and some with the Rebels so I'm hoping they can really help me out. Any info and feedback is very much appreciated.

sirius radio is killing XM, if its not dead already

So i had a very shocking event happen to me the other day while listening to XM channel 47, 'Ethel' as it was once called. The title for the station read instead 'Alt Nation' and the radio was having plugs for Sirius. I checked all my other fav stations and all of them were changed too. I gave it a weeks chance, and while they still played some good music way to much of it was crap. Sames true with my other stations.

As far as Ethel is concerned, it is now dead. Alt nation is playing crap from the 90's regularly, less new music, and now has those stupid annoying radio announcement BS's. 'This is the latest from Example, their new CD is in stores now'! --- that kinda crap.

So Sirius has killed or is killing XM, as was expected when they bought it out. Anyone else have any feelings about this?

Finally starting to upgrade my home audio system

So, It's been a while since I have added anything to my audio system at home. Since I blew the amp for my JBL home sub I have simply used my towers and luckily they have plenty of bass but there is something missing. So, I've started looking into slowly upgrading my home system and the sub is the first thing.

I just ordered a AudioSource AMP300:

I plan on using this with a DVC sub at 8ohm bridged load for 470w RMS. I will initially use the TL 12" sub I have and will use the JBL enclosure. At some point later I will make my own hardwood enclosure for the sub (or whatever sub I eventually buy). As this amp is a 2x I can always use it for something else down the line if I decide to change plans.

Next step will be upgrading my receiver. At this point I am looking at either the Pioneer Elite VSX-94txh or the SC-07. Depends on the price. Initially I will use the built-in amplification but I'm considering adding something similar to a Parasound 5250. From a speaker perspective I'm leaning towards B&W's at this point but may look at Axiom or Klipsh Reference.

Only time will tell and good deals will steer me.

Pretty much no one but my roomates and my parents know what I'm doing. I have cardboard boxes in the closet and in the corner of the living room, wood in my parents garage, an empty enclosure in my living room, and amps and sound processing equipment in the closet. I have thousands of dollars of audio equipment and barely using any of it. So here's a rough outline of what's going on.

Well a couple weeks ago I put in my order for some Accoustic Elegance Lambda TD15H's with 4 ohm voice coils. They take about a week to build, because they're built to order. Finally, today they arrived.

They do have a giant (around 3-4" long) phase plug in the center as you can see. This helps with the upper end extension/breakup and acts as a heat sink. While pumping 650-700watts into it (the clip lights were lit up), it did get a bit warm, but not too bad.

...Though what is bad, these have so much output in the 40-500hz range where they'll operate, I don't think my dual 15" subs and their 2Kw of power can keep up. I also don't have enough AC power because my lights are dimming when the bass hits. I'm affraid that once I get my system done and all the amps hooked up, I'll trip breakers while rocking out.

My next step is to source some mids and tweets. I do have one tweeter on the way for auditioning and the same company that built my Lambda woofers is building a prototype mid. When they can build a few and do some testing, they may send one out to me for "beta" testing.

*edit* I forgot to say anything about these woofers. Well I put one in a 4ft sealed enclosure with no stuffing (bad move). It let too many reflections through the cone from the backwave, so I had a hard time getting it to sound good. I had to drop my 600-2.5khz area quite a bit, then boosted the 8-15khz area up quite a bit. That's the awesom/crazy thing about these woofers. The combination of the near zero inductance from the lambda motor, the parabolic curve of the cone, the huge phase plug and the anti-resonance spray coating (just a flexible substance that absorbs energy) on the cone allows this 15" woofer to play from 30hz all the way to 16-18khz with some EQ'ing. But again, I'm using this driver as a woofer/midbass so it'll be crossed over at ~500hz.

Excellent sound quality though.

We can already watch TV over the internet, stream movies with Netflix and Hulu, and connection speeds are only getting faster. Currently we have enough bandwidth with average connections to stream standard def movies and compressed HD movies.

Verizon (and other companies, including Sprint in my area) is putting in fiber optics with package plans of 15-45Mbps d/l and lightning fast upload speeds along with it. At the upper end of the bandwidth scale, it could be possible to stream minimally to completely uncompressed HD signals.

Just like with satellite radio, it could be possible to offer many more channels to a person than they could get locally, for a fairly low price (likely cheaper than cable) so long as they have a highspeed connection.

Pioneer develops 16 layer Blu-Ray disk (400GB)

Pioneer is developing a 16-layer Blu-ray disc that has a capacity of 400GB, claiming to be the first of its kind.

The discs feature 25GB per layer, which is the same as a Blu-ray disc. This multilayer technology will also be applicable to multilayer recordable discs.

The lens specifications are the same as existing BD discs, making it possible to be compatible with existing Blu-ray players.

Pioneer uses a technique that reduces crosstalk from adjacent layers. The result is a 16-layer optical disc that plays high-quality signals from every layer.

Pioneer will release more details on July 13 in Hawaii at the International Symposium on Optical Memory and Optical Data Storage.

I was checking out some of Yamaha's new receivers that just came out and saw they still listed their 2007 models. I checked Amazon and saw this deal!
It was 900.00, now 400.00 shipped!

It doesn't have the highest level of audio codecs, Dolby truHD and DTS HD master audio, but in all honesty, it's hard to tell the difference between normal DTS and DTS bad-*** master-mother F'er audio. And for the $500 savings, you likely wont miss it!

Master in Commander--water, creaking of the boards, its just amazing
Band of Brothers--all the gunfire
Munich--I think it was this movie where some of the gunfire was amazing as well
Gladiator--what's not to like
Blue Man Group Surround Sound Mix--you can literally hear the music travel around the room

Crazy show. I don't know why a 40something mom would think she could hang with her daughter. Much too old to drink that way. Still though, I feel bad for her because her daughter is out of control with her mindset and ideals...not to mention her denial. But no one can change her daughter's mind but her. it was raining today so i decided to watch one of the Star Wars "episodes" out of pure boredom, which brought me to realize how much i used to like the series..god forbid i'm probably the only one on here who does. But, I had thoughts of the unlikely (nevergunnahappen) final triolgy of the series..and what everyone else thought about 3 more additions to the "saga."

I'm half Dominican, but alas, my spoken Spanish stinks but I am a decent listener.

Anyway, at work I work in the back room and have a nice stereo to myself. I want to get some good salsa and merengue music to play, but I am at a loss at where to start. I picked up an album from the Spanish Harlem Orchestra (united we swing) and it's decent but I want something better and I played it out already. I need new stuff and I have to keep rotating so I don't play out the stuff I already have on my mp3 player!

As far as merengue goes, it's damn near impossible trying to find something that isn't perverted and disrespectful to women. I know of Juan Luis Guerra, but I can't download an MP3 album from Amazon.. I found Milly Quezada, but meh.. I've heard better.

Just looking for upbeat, great sounding , original stuff that I can download.
