C&C4: Tiberian Twilight.

I see Nali's rocking a Joe Kucan avatar, so I figured this was as good a time as any for this thread. Many of us long-time C&C fans (I've been playing from the beginning...before I even owned a PC, and my first PC game purchase was Red Alert) wondered WTF was up when C&C3 did not bear the Tiberian Twilight subtitle, as that had been expected for several years. Now, the closing chapter of the C&C series is upon us, and it's...freaking different. My feelings on what's known of the game so far are mixed. I know EA is capable of making a good C&C game, because C&C3 and Kane's Wrath are both fantastic. But Generals and Red Alert 3 are s***. So there's just as much risk of the game being horrible.I cannot say I'm pleased with the changes to mobile gameplay and consistent "character" development. I have never liked the idea of unlockables or the idea of persistent experience game across game modes. I dislike the lack of differentiation between multiplayer and singleplayer.I also DO NOT like the removal of harvesters. It ruined RA3, and it will ruin C&C4. I could ALMOST understand mines in RA3 since piles of "ore" on the ground never made much sense anyway. But tiberium harvesting is THE staple of C&C. I don't want a "resource node" that magically generates income. Protecting your harvesters is a key piece of C&C strategy and removing it is unacceptable.Mostly, though, the levelling/unlockables crap is stupid. It completely interferes with story progression. If you play online a lot, you can enter the early missions with tons of units. But if you never play online you won't get them until later. How the hell can that storyline have any balance with that degree of devianceI feel like this is yet another case of "why not call it something else if you don't want to make [x franchise] style game" Why didn't EA just make EA's World Combat Strategy Extravaganza 2009(!) and call it a day I don't see the point in shaking up what makes C&C C&C just to make it more appealing. ESPECIALLY considering it's the last game in the series, it should appeal to hardcore fans over anyone. To hell with casual gamers. C&C is NOT and has NEVER BEEN for casual gamers. C&C is freaking crazy-a** wartime doom with green crystals from space and a villain who refuses to STAY DEAD.And that brings my to my other fearful point:EA interviews show that they COMPLETELY miss the point of C&C's live action cutscenes. They talk abou the camp ruining the experience, and how they're going to make them more serious and believable. C&C IS NOT SERIOUS. IT HAS GREEN CRYSTALS FROM SPACE AND JOE FREAKING KUCAN IN IT! The camp WAS GOOD. It was part of the atmosphere that IS C&C. If they go overboard trying to hard, they're just going to come out with something that's neither good NOR bad. Kane's crooked plastic helmet in Kane's Wrath was CAMPTASTIC and exactly what C&C needs more of. I don't want serious. I want crazy world-domination Kane monologues. The idea of mobile crawlers is interesting, but I fear the current implementation strays TOO MUCH from what underpins the core C&C experience.I am very excited to see walker AND treaded versions of the Mammoth finally get to fight side by side, though.

Forza3 Pictures Thread

Limit one pic per post, and only post clean images - none of those "I can see her cervix" paintjobs. Turn one at Tsukuba, look at the nose dive on that poor Chrysler. I was an idiot and painted directly on the car and didn't make a vinyl group for the Cobb logo. As soon as I finish it I'll put it up on my storefront along with the one I've got for SPL Parts. So far my largest disappointment with the game is the lower than usual number of manufacturer logos.

Can anyone recommend a good set of PC speakers for gaming. I'm still using the speakers from my first PC, they put out excellent sound but they're almost 10 years old so surely a new set would put out even better sound. I already have a subwoofer I just need a good set of speakers.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

I had totally missed the announcement and videos of multiplayer on the new BC because I was being blind sided by MW2 (which with IW's current PC community shenanigans may quickly get my pre-order canceled). I was a bit miffed that the original BC wasn't on the PC, but I thoroughly enjoyed it on the PS3, including the multiplayer. The new BC looks to be even better. They're fixing my main gripe from BC1. The squad system. I have always liked the Battlefield franchise over other FPSes due to the way they reward you for performing team work. 2142 was a prime example of how to coordinate squads. My clan would generally join a map, form up our squad and then quickly gain top squad for the map. BC1 had squads, but the lack of being able to choose your squad was what killed the idea for me. BC2 looks to fix that by bringing back the squad customization.Total destruction is being promised this time around too. I haven't seen any videos of a house being completely wasted, but if DICE says it'll happen, it'll happen. I understood why it wasn't originally done this way in BC1, so I'm interested to see how they're going to implement total structure destruction. On gold rush maps, the crates were usually in a house, so I wonder if the crates will be in more open places now. If so, it's gonna be a pain to plant a charge on it with snipers always out and about. The beta should be announced soon I think. They'll probably try to run it after the new year is my guess so they can get some numbers data collected in time for final tweaking before the March 10th street date.

Machinarium

This game was a real treat. It's a point and click adventure game with some neat mechanics and an incredible hand-drawn art style. It is also backed with a great soundtrack. You must help a little robot, who has been kicked out of the robot city, get back in and...I can't really say much else without giving things away. The robot can telescope...stretch vertically to reach different things. This matters, because unlike most point-and-click adventures, he can only interact with things he's standing near. While that might sound annoying, it works with the gameplay: if you can walk somewhere, there's something to do there. Which helps prevent the tedious "click everything on the screen" syndrome that often accompanies these kinds of games. The puzzles are great, and require some nonlinear thinking. To solve one puzzle, you may have to solve several others in other areas...it's a multi-threaded interweaving that keeps things from being predictable and really requires you think about what you're trying to do.The story is great, but nothing particularly groundbreaking. However, the way it's told is brilliant, and as it's told you'll find yourself smiling or laughing or feeling bad for the little robot. One of the most brilliant things is the game's help system. There are two tiers to the help. The first is a "you need to achieve this" though bubble that helps you realize what you need to do in a given scene. The next is a thorough walkthrough...but to keep you from abusing it, you must play a short R-type style minigame that is very simple but takes time. Once you complete it, the walkthrough shows ONLY the steps for the scene you're currently looking at. This goes back to the interwoven progression I mentioned before...it might show you leaving an area and returning with batteries...but how you retrieve those batteries is covered in a DIFFERENT scene, and on a different page of the walkthrough...which you must access separately by again playing the minigame. Keeps you honest but also means you'll never put down the game due to frustration because good help is always there. The game's biggest weakness is it's overuse of minigames as puzzles. Some of them are tedious, others are just unfair, and all of them break up the otherwise brilliant flow and pacing of the game. The very worst moment of the game was, without question, the stupid tic-tac-toe game. You must play 5-spot tic-tac-toe against another robot, and it is, as tic-tac-toe ALWAYS is, a complete waste of time and more luck than skill. As the WOPR taught is in Wargames, no one wins at tic-tac-toe unless the other guy screws up. And playing game after game waiting for the computer player to screw up is anything but fun.The game is disappointingly short, too...too short for it's $20 price tag if you ask me. BUT...it's such a wonderfully enjoyable game that it really IS worth those $20. It's too brilliant...the visuals are too good, the sound too perfect, the story too adorable, and the puzzles too much fun, that passing it up is a huge mistake.

Wow...Darkest of Days is amazingly bad.

Worst game I've played in years. Strong contender (very strong) for Worst Game I have Ever Played Ever.Holy crap it's bad. There are not enough superlatives in all the languages on earth to describe it's monumental badness. It's one of those games (or books, or movies, or whatever) that's so amazingly bad you find yourself wondering why it was even released. How did the dev team not look at this game and think "Good Lord...this is abysmal...we can't release this!" or "I will not have my name attached to this pile of rotting mutant rat feces."Pretty much everything about the game is horrible. It looks, sounds, and feels like a game from 2002. The visuals are really, really horrible. The controls refuse to adopt common sensibilities, too. The number buttons don't change weapons...you must use the mouse wheel for that. They're also really numb. There's no reticule or guide of ANY kind for grenade throwing, and the grenades' ballistics are not anywhere close to what you'd expect, so throwing grenades is a pointless crap shoot. The game also imposes a Gears of War style reloading gimmick that requires to to "hit" a target point as a circle fills. Missing extends the reload time dramatically. Note to game developers: GO FIRE SOME REAL GUNS. They do not jam EVERY TIME.But easily the worst thing about this game is that you are not in control of your own character half the time. And I'm not talking about cutscenes or dramatic moments. I'm talking about DURING GAMEPLAY. Most of the time it's very poorly denoted, too. During the first battle (Custer's last stand) I found myself being (apparently) pummeled to death (red blood-ish glow on the screen which I can only assume means I was being hurt). I whirled about looking for the culprit, and no one was near. Then, suddenly, I was in a completely different part of the map, unable to move. I realized, upon noticing legs in front of me, that I was lying wounded in a circle of soldiers, several yards from where I was an instant before.I next went to Antietam, and after being dropped into the map a hundred yards from the front lines (why!) found that, upon approaching the front line, MY CHARACTER BEGAN WALKING OF HIS OWN ACCORD. I LOST CONTROL OF MOVEMENT. I was running through corn fields and NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. I could hear gunshots, but there was nothing to shoot at. Just corn stalks and me not being in control. WTF! Eventually I emerged from the corn field with the other soldiers to perch on the edge of a trench. Enemy soldiers stood at the other side. I still could not move, my character MANEUVERED HIMSELF into position with the other soldiers and I began taking shots at the enemy.Terrible, horrible, amazingly bad. What PURPOSE does taking control away from me serve The game is not doing anything I could not do. It is not creating any cinematic moment (insta-teleport and a corn field...wow). There is no BENEFIT to doing this. Why was it done! It's beyond comprehension.Anyway, if you value your sanity, stay the Hell away from Darkest of Days. It's riddled with terrible design decisions, horrible voice acting, a story that does nothing with itself, numb controls, one of the worst cases of "floating camera syndrome" since Goldeneye, random control-stealing moments, dull, tedious gameplay, and not an ounce of fun.Oh, and that reminds me:The game begins with a solder at Little Big Horn being plucked (from the nineteenth fargohells***assing century) to "the future" (22nd century I kind of guess but they never actually say) and faced instantly with portals, computers, TVs, holograms, etc. with NO QUESTION. There's no STORY there. No "WHOA WTF is this crap get me out of here." He just goes with it. Really horrible. Might as well have used a guy from the 22nd century...why'd they even bother with the Custer bit at allThe game also brags about it's use of Nvidia Physx. Dunno why. If I were Nvidia I'd be embarrassed to have my name associated with those claims. There's nothing that I saw that couldn't be done without Physx. Nothing even remotely "realistic physics" looking at all. Characters fall stiffly and sharply upon death, and there's not exactly anything in a freaking field of grass or corn to show off physics features. I never once saw anything that looked like it needed or was bettered by the use of Physx tech.Really, really, REALLY horrible. I cannot believe how bad it is. It must be a joke, that's the only explanation. NO ONE with a functioning brain would make or publish this game. I refuse to believe it is not a joke.Keep an eye out for games from 8monkey lab in the future so you can avoid them like a plague-ridden zombie carrying a nuke.

Got a netbook You want to read this. (Torchlight)

The awesome is coming for your netbook. Without mercy. One of the greatest game developers on earth, Cond...er Blizzard No...wait Flagsh...I mean Runic Games. Yeah. Runic Games is about to release what is without question my most highly anticipated game of the year. Torchlight.Torchlight's a classic Diablo style ARPG with nice, sophisticated modern gameplay. It's got an isometric view and a really nice art style. But the best part, for all you netbook owners, is that its system requirements are so low, your netbook will be able to run it without breaking a sweat. It's singleplayer only (not even coop) because Runic have plans to take the Torchlight world into the multiplayer realm with another title down the road. So for this entry, the focus is on good old fashioned solo monster-wading.Check it out. It's due out on the 26th, which is exactly 17 days too far away by my count. Initially it'll only be available as a direct download (very small, Runic says the whole client is only 300MB), but there might be a boxed version down the road. One need feature of the game that should keep replay value high (as if replay value was in need of help in an ARPG with random loot and level generation and 3 character classes) is the "endless dungeon." No bottom. Keep going down for more challenge and more reward.http://www.torchlightgame.com/*(BTW, if you didn't catch my not-so-subtle hint at the beginning of this post, this game is being made by the original Diablo/DiabloII team. So it's going to be good.)Oh, and the system requirements, so you can smile at the fact that your otherwise useless netbook can indeed run the game:PIII 800512MB RAMDirectX 7 compatible video card with 64MB RAM400MB hard drive spaceFeels like the turn of the century again, doesn't it

PSP Go: NO UMD "conversions" for already-purchased games.

Yup. Like I said all along: the PSP Go is crap. Smaller screen, more awkward button placement, and 16GB of storage to do...what with NOT STORE YOUR EXISTING PSP COLLECTION, that's what. Sony's promised UMD conversion that would allow existing PSP owners to transfer their existing library of useless-on-the-stupid-GO UMD games to store them on the Go and continue enjoying them has fallen through for licensing reasons. So what the hell's the point of the Go You can get more storage and better screens with a Zune HD or iPod. But those won't play PSP games OH WAIT NEITHER WILL THE PSP GO. Stupidest idea ever. Especially considering that the PSP3000 wasn't exactly lacking in "pocketability" anyway. At least it had a drive for the PROPRIETARY MEDIA FORMAT DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR GAMES FOR THAT ONE SINGLE SYSTEM. WTF was Sony thinking What a stupid move.A list of retailers is already refusing to carry the device because lack of support for physical game media effectively shuts them out of software sales for the system, which is where the real profits lie. It's looking more and more like a brick in water as time goes on. Desirability for the consumer is heavily restricted due to lack of UMD support and lack of good titles on the PS Store, while support from retailers is waning. I think it probably would have been wiser to work on a PSP4000 or maybe put some of that R&D money into giving the PS3 backward compatibility again.

Interesting Gaming Study

http://blog.brainhex.com/I highly suggest you take the test BEFORE reading any details about the results-classifications. They contain info that could tip the scales, whether intentionally or subconsciously. It's a study looking into why people like particular types of games, and the physiological means by which those different types of games are "fun."I'm in the "Mastermind-Seeker" category. http://onlyagame.typepad.com/b....htmlInterestingly, my sub-type is predominantly made up of casual gamers...I'm in the 17% of "hardcore" mastermind gamers. Maybe that explains why there are so few genuinely good puzzle-based games out there...everyone's writing for casual gamers instead of me.I listed Half-Life, Stratego, and X-Com as the 3 games that best exemplify what I look for in a game.It can help to know your "Myers-Briggs" type (Jungian classification...you can just google Myers-Briggs and find pretty quick tests online to tell you what type you are), but it's not absolutely necessary. (I'm apparently an INTJ, fwiw).Curious to see how other NICO members classify. I know I'm an odd man out here much of the time, as NICO's gaming forum is much more "what's the latest online console [x genre] game" vs my PC-centric ultra-pickiness and single-player bent. My guess is that most NICOnauts will fall under the "Conquerer-Socializer" sub-type, with a few (like Hash) coming in as Achiever-Seekers.

Forbidden things

Debug/Dev stuff, pirate ROM's and hardware, not-for-resale store demo items, unreleased games/code/3D models, etc.Who has it, who wants itI collect some of this stuff, and recently I've been focusing on non-physical items (i.e. ROM's, kiosk demo footage, 3D models, etc).Lately, I've been getting into Chinese remade pirate games for the Famicom. In China, people can't typically afford a new $400 game console every few years like so many gamers in Japan, Europe, and the US can. Thus, older hardware is still very popular, particularly the Famicom (or NES) and MegaDrive (or Genesis). Problem is of course, no one has produced new Famicoms or MegaDrives for years. This is where the clone market comes in. Thanks to their healthy disregard for copyright laws, there is a huge pirate industry in Japan for clone hardware and software. The clone hardware comes in all shapes and sizes, and often will look like a PS2 or something, but is invariably a FamiClone or MegaDrive clone. But these kids don't want to just play Super Mario Bros. year after year, they want NEW software, and obviously Nintendo and Sega don't develop software for "dead" systems. Instead, increasingly talented Chinese coders "adapt" high-profile current franchises to run on these older systems. By "adapt", I mean that they're making new NES and Genesis games from scratch, or sometimes just drastically hacking up ROMs.Yesterday, I downloaded Final Fantasy 7 for the NES. Here's what it looks like:The Aeris death sequence:My copy, however, has an English language patch on it, and I assure you that EVERY SPECK of original dialogue is intact. It definitely doesn't LOOK like FF7, but the story is 100% there. What's more, it's actually a *really* good game by NES RPG standards. It's better than the original Famicom versions of FF1, FF2, and FF3 by a comfortable margin. It's probably the best NES RPG I've ever played. Now, I'll say that the original Chinese version is incredibly difficult. Impossibly difficult, to the point of being unplayable. You have maybe a 10% chance of making it through the first few battles. Luckily, my English language patch changes some stats and now it's a very balanced, enjoyable game. The music is lifted from other Famicom FF ROMs, I'm told, so don't expect FF7 tunes. I was playing with the sound off anyway.I think eventually I'll buy a retail version, as it comes in this snazzy packaging:It will ONLY run on Nestopia, other emulators need not apply. If anyone is interested in this, I can send you the emulator, ROM, patch, and the program to apply the patch. It is all small enough to email.

Blurry 30sec GRID Replay

Haha im so bored. So im playing GRID for my PS3, which i've had for a few weeks now. I really like it and i'm usually pretty picky about racing games, i think it took Gran Turismo for my new favorite. Anyways. I was doing a race with the Mazda 787B(I think its called) and was in 2nd place, i was flying around a right hand corner and slid around the first place guy, but there was a little boulder/rock on the left hand side of the road. I clip it with my bumper and then do a perfect barrel roll [(Do a barrel roll! --Starfox reference)] and land it, then continue to finsh the race in 1st place!! GRID has awesome replays, but one thing that f***ing sucks is that there is no option to SAVE your replay. The whole race was good though. I made my own save replay on my cell phone, thats why its only 30 seconds long and its blurry from being resized. Sorry if it sucks, like i said, boredom. Just got Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, gonna crack that guy open.

Korsakovia. It is named for Korsakoff syndrome, a condition that causes loss of real memory and invention of false memories to replace them. Korsakoff sufferers believe those invented memories are real. The game was developed by Chineseroom, a group of experimental game developers who tend to make less than traditional games. Their first project was another HL2 mod called "Dear Esther" which has no real gameplay...you simply explore and experience, and the game is an interesting look inside the human mind. To say more would ruin it, so I won't.Back to Korsakovia, it's a more traditional game in that there is combat, interaction, and simple puzzle solving. But the game is still more about experience. You experience what I can only assume (having not yet completed the mod, as I keep getting stuck) are the visions of a Korsakoff sufferer. You watch as his psychiatrist attempts to talk to him, and see how that "true" reality is viewed as an intrusion into his invented reality. The game is quite creepy, with well-employed sound effects and some cool eerie monsters as well as some just-not-quite-right level design that throws off your senses.Unfortunately the game lacks professional polish, with the game often leaving the player completely directionless and at a loss as to where they took a wrong turn, often going in circles for long periods of time before discovering the little thing they missed. The game also employs an atmospheric effect that causes the flashlight to flicker and die periodically. While neat and immersive at first, later on it just becomes irritating.Still, despite it's lack of polish, the game's insanity and creepiness make it well worth playing.

Forza Motorsport 2 Drifting - Light Em Up

I hope it's safe to post this here...I'm not sure if any of you are into video games at all but I just wanted to share a project I've been planning/working on for about a year now. I started editing it all last month. As I've been trying to develop my skills in video editing and film, teaching myself, practicing tutorials, and finding inspiration from other places, I try to progress as much as I can and take note of any critiques so I can become better.DIS is an online drifting team I belong to on Forza Motorsport 2.If you've ever played this game online and/or watched some of the average videos you can appreciate the amount of time and work that goes into this kind of thing.(all credits were given to the original artists)Check it out here...DIS's Light Em UpThanks, and comments welcome.

I bought a PSP. Suggestions needed!

EDIT! Can a mod please move this to the gaming forumI didn't realize we had a very active section of the board for just this purpose!Thank you!Yeah, yeah, whoop de doo, I just got a PSP after months of deliberation (and Nintendo influence from Mark). So far, I have to say that I love this thing. Its a PSP3000 that I got used from Gamestop after they learned'd me some knowledge. They mentioned that it had internet capability, Skype, and could be made to use AIM and other cool things. What are the other fun things you can do with a PSP other than play games, watch movies, move music, and use the internet (which I haven't done yet)Is there a good forum that anyone can point me to

Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

Absolutely smegging brilliant. This is easily the best game ever to be released for the DS. The story is well-written, the voice acting is actually GOOD. Not just not-bad or passable, it's GOOD. The fully animated sequences are top-notch and very smooth. And the puzzles are even better than before. This time around, the story is tied into a lot of the puzzles more palpably. There are still plenty of random puzzles to be found, but those that are strictly tied to story progression are suitably related. It gives the game a more coherent feel and makes progress feel that much more real. The story is a good one, with some neat twists and good half-hints that have you wondering (and, if you're paying attention, perhaps guessing correctly) about things. The pacing is great, too. The game's tough to put down. So far I have about 13 hours into the game, and I'd estimate I'm 2/3-3/4 of the way through (though I don't know for sure as I have no idea what's left). The minigames are more fun this time around, too, and all are rewarding in some way (more puzzles and even a means to help find every last hint coin).Anyone who owns a DS and does not pick up this game is missing out.

Iphone/ Ipod touch - Wifi Warfare - download the game now!

lmao... if you have an Iphone or Ipod touch... download the game Wifi Warfare.... its fun as hell to play (can only be played on wifi).on internet play, theres 4 rooms and like 5 maps and you get to play with other ipod touch/ iphone users... the controls take a few minutes to get used to... but afterwards, its fun as heck. You can change your options to use a d-pad to navigate + aim, or you can be cool and use tilt to aim (more accurate shooting, but takes more time getting used to imho)...only downfall is theres no bots, so if no ones online, theres nothing really to do.they have a lite version and a full version. The only difference is that on full version, you're able to use a sniper rifle and plasma grenades, and Lite version players will be given a n00b hat. here's some screen shots..http://www.wifiwar.com/home download it now (if you have an iphone/ ipod touch)... me and my brother and his friend will be playing tonight... look for the users "Adrians_s13 iphone" or "Adrians_s13 ipod"

Gratuitous Space Battles.

http://www.youtube.com/watchv=U1QYMFGEv5MYes. It lives up to it's name. It's an interesting approach to space combat strategy. You design your ships, customizing their weapons, shields, armor, and a lot more, then you assemble your fleets for battle using a deep order-creation system. But then, when you click "start battle" it's hands-off. Your ships fight on their own, according to their outfitting and orders, while you watch and enjoy. You can zoom way out and observe the grand scale of battle, or you can zoom in and enjoy the carnage on a more personal level. There are 3 categories of ships: battleships, frigates, and fighters. Fighters come in squads. You can assign engagement rules (even individual engagement conditions vs different ship classes and even on a per-weapon basis), make formations, assign ships to protect each other (a massive capital battleship with squads of fighters swarming protectively around it is a hell of an awesome sight!)...There's a lot of depth to just about every aspect of the game, which makes for a wonderful degree of balance. One of the best parts of the game, though, is the fact that you're not burdened with participating in the battles. Instead, you're allowed to sit back and enjoy the space carnage, which is indeed gratuitous. You can vary the speed of battle progress so there's no threat of things ever getting boring. But they don't, anyway. It's the kind of game you can jump into for one match or sit and play for hours and hours...immensely playable and easy to just jump right into, but (I can only assume, as I haven't had it for long) difficult to master. The game uses a masterful mix of detailed pre-rendered ship designs and beautiful effects to build some spectacular visuals while still being pretty lightweight as far as system requirements.

HL2 FakeFactory Cinematic Mod - Good links

Since I have a pretty beefy PC and 64 bit Vista, I figured I'd give this a try (I haven't run Cinematic Mod since the earlier versions). But the only links I can find are multi-part rapidshare links, which is way too much effort. None of the torrent links I have found actually work.I'm looking for V10...I can download the beta 3 update easily...it's getting the base V10 content that's the problem. Anyone know a good place to find it

F**K YOU ACCLAIM!

Well, I"m done taking 2moons seriously. I've been reading all this crap about how acclaim is trying to "fight the hackers" ad asking players to report them. I've reported 5 hackers thus far all with the same story."Dear Player,Thank you for contacting Acclaim Games,The screenshot which you have send to us is not clear to determine if he is really hacking. Please send us clear screenshot or video so that we can ban the guilty player. Please reply back to us if you have any further issues and we would be glad to assist you. Our customer service is open 24/7 and will attempt to resolve the issues as soon as possible.Sincerely,Eric2Moons 24/7 Support,Acclaim Games."The last time I sent 3 f***ing screenshots that I had to spend 15 minutes gathering, as well as getting player killed by the hacker 3 times. Everyone I talk to has the same story. So after working halfway up the level tree and getting at least 300 mil in assets, I'm done. I spent over $100 on buffs and s*** from the Dshop, so I could help keep the servers running, the hackers sure as f*** aren't. I pay to play that game and they don't, but I am the one who gets told "Oh well". So f*** Acclaim and f*** 2moons.This was my reply to the last "we're not banning the hacker" email."Are you kidding me The guy has stacks of monsters right on top of him, and it's not clear that he's hacking Are you serious That's 1/4 of the monsters on the whole damned map! And what do you mean screen shot I SENT 3! Don't you have server logs you can look at THIS IS RIDICULOUS! THIS IS WHY THIS GAME IS NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY! ACCLAIM DOES NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY! I had been stringing wow players over to 2moons but I will not do that anymore. I will enjoy D&D online because they are taking the game seriously. I can not believe I have spent over $100 on this game for Acclaim to repeatedly tell me that the people that are cheating are going unpunished. I'm an adult, I'm 28 years old and I want to play this game the way it was intended to be played. I put in hard work for the items and EXP that I have. What you are telling me is that I may as well cheat, because no one is going to get enough proof to get me banned. I would rather not play the game than cheat. This is ridiculous. Im withdrawing my application for VGM. This is at least the third petition to be returned with a negative answer. I will not waste my time donating it to a company who will not act on problems, despite volunteers submitting proof. I dedicated 15 minutes of what should be my time to relax to report a hacker, only to be told later that the 3 screenshots that I took are "not clear". I had to go back and get PK'd 3 times to get the screenshots. I have been trying to convince my friend who was with me that the hackers are going to be dealt with, and that this will be better than WoW. I no longer believe it. You tell your players to help fight the hackers by turning them in, and every single person I talk to says they all get the same response. Do you want to know what is not clear Why Acclaim has such a hard time banning free accounts."

So, even though this is predominantly an electronic/video game forum I felt the need to post up my latest game purchase. Games Workshop decided to re-release Space Hulk! In limited numbers too, so I thought I should pick up my copy before they all got snatched up. Only set me back $100. Yeah, that's right - for a board game. One of the benefits of being an adult kid is that I can get the toys I want. The box weighs a ton! I was at the local game store and when people asked to see a copy the clerk always said, "Use two hands." Look at the contents, all those brave space marines and mindless genestealers, waiting to have at one another. Can't wait to paint them up and play!

GT5P Time Attack

I don't know if anyone here is a member of the GTPlanet forums, but right now they're running a time attack on Suzuka with the Gran Turismo Concept Tuned Z06. I was just checking to see if anyone here was interested in doing our own time attack. For the first we can use the same set up as them: * Mode: Online Event :Expert Class: 800PP Free Run * Game Spec: SpecIII * Physics: Professional * Track: Suzuka * Make: Concept by Gran Turismo * Model: Corvette Z06 Tuned (car can be tuned to your liking, as long as the PP stays under 800) * Laps: Hotlap in online Free Run Post your T1 and T2 splits here. No discussing full lap times. Lap time submissions must be emailed to me after 12:00 Noon on Saturday and before 12:00 EST Midnight on Saturday Night. So in this thread discuss T1 and T2 splits, along with tuning if you'd like.If you save your replay of your best lap, you can go back and watch it to get your T1 and T2 times.I hope people will be interesting, I think it would be fun.

Metroid Prime Trilogy

In the words of Strong Bad, "It's about time."Nintendo wasn't satisfied to just release the first two Prime games with updated controls. This trilogy pack is a whole updated package, with HORDES of unlockable extras and graphical updates as well.Even though most of the actual in-game assets for Prime and Echoes are carried over from the gamecube versions, the games have still recieved graphical makeovers, with new shinies like dynamic lighting as well as 480p widescreen support (Wii doesn't do full HD).For those who like unlockables, there's an awesome new system that makes achievements look pathetic. It's similar to achievements, except that for each one you get a token (different color depending on what type of achievement it was). You get orange or grey from Prime, purple or grey from Echoes, and red, blue, and gold from Corruption and, in an effort to promote the Wii's friends system carried over from the standalone Corruption, gold is gained from sharing "friend vouchers."Some extras only cost a couple of tokens that can be found in a single game, but others cost dozens of tokens that require efforts spanning all 3 games. Extras run the gamut from concept art galleries and sound test mode to bumper stickers and a bobblehead for your gunship (the bumper stickers are a particularly creative reward...the game looks for OTHER game's save files on your wii and applies bumper stickers from those games to the gunship). So now there's even more incentive to try and scan that hard-to-scan enemy or hunt down that last missile expansion. As for the controls, anyone playing Prime or Echoes for the first time this way would never guess the game hadn't been designed for it. Even the residual HUD elements designed around the gamecube controller's d-pad and c-stick mode switching have been redesigned slightly. The Wii controls are as superb as ever, with 3 sensitivity settings, though why anyone would use any but the highest is beyond me. That highest setting emulates a keyboard/mouse FPS, where the lesser sensitivities require you to move the reticule to the very edge of the screen or near it to move the view even the slightest bit.One of the neat surprises I've found so far (early on in Prime) was one of the first times I switched to morph ball mode after reacquiring that ability. I was in a small, poorly lit room and as I started rolling, I found that the seam around the morph ball (exposing the energy core inside) was casting an arc of light across the walls and ceiling. The dynamic lighting updates definitely weren't done shoddily.I'm most looking forward to Echoes, which should definitely put those new shinies to the test (with the light suit's numerous small sources of light).I was surprised to see that the trilogy even includes the multiplayer mode from Echoes (which is local split-screen only).Overall, an excellent package worth picking up even for people who already own all 3 titles (like me) and absolutely worth getting for those who never had the chance to play them before now.

2moons

Anyone else play thishttp://2moons.acclaim.com/2mlanding5.htmlIt's a free MMO. It's a cheap medieval fantasy game that is poorly translated and buggy. But for some reason I enjoy playing it. There is next to no support for the game anywhere except the sparsely populated forums. Most of the players in the game are punk a** kids. But with the way the game works it hardly matters. There are no respawn penalties. You keep all your stuff / gold / exp when you die. It sucks because if you like to PK you never get any loot for it. The game is long. It seems short in the beginning but the level cap is somewhere over 150, so the fact that your first 10 levels take like 2 days doesn't mean the game is going to be over soon. In typical MMO style it will let you into places before you can solo them to encourage party playing. There is a simple but effective guild system. One thing I find lacking is the lack of guild wars. However all but the 5 lowest level maps are full PVP zones so you can get ppl almost anywhere when you have to. There are party dungeons for up to 6 ppl. Every instance dungeon has a level minimum, and multiple difficulties. The higher difficulties give better rewards. There is a shop called the D shop where you can buy items for acclaim coins. A lot of them are useful. I'm a big fan of auto potions. THe game can get tedious if you don't have friends around your level. I find myself wandering around alone a lot because I'm 28 levels higher than my closest friend. So I have to get crap exp to run with him, as he cant get into the higher level areas. All in all I give the game a 6 of 10. Largely because it's free, and the mechanics are solid. If you play, my IGN is Lenrock.

If you play, my IGN is Lenrock.

about FFVII

So i am not a fan of rpg's at all, unless you count any of the mario rpg's. My girlfriend on the other hand is a major rpg person. She has never played the coveted final fantasy VII, and with how much a copy costs these days she wasnt going to be playing it any time soon. But i was checking out the PS store and found you could DL it for 10 bucks, so i got it for her as we have both heard its a must play game. I DL it, install it..... and am shocked at how horrible the game is (sound and graphics) I understand its a 12 year old game, but seriously those characters look so ridiculous that i couldnt take the game seriously. The music sounds like it came from the old casio in my closet, and no VO at all thats a deal breaker right there. No real point to this thread, not trying to start flame war, im not spoiled by good graphics, i just prefer my games to not make me want to gouge my eyes out. So what are your guy's opinions on the game Best game ever Most overrated ever Stupidest Price for an old PS1 game ever

Shadow Complex, Best free Xbox360 game ever!!

Metroid fans should love this game. Its one of if not the best Side scrolling shooters in recent yearsIve been playing it for the last few days since its release.Unfortunately i made the mistake of buying Trials HD when it came out, and now im outta MS pointsSo whats a broke guy to doUnlock the full game for free. Here is how*When you play the Trial, when you kill the tarantula boss, wait a few seconds for it to go through its whole death animation.....about half way through its death Press Start. When the menu comes up, chose to load last saved game. When you do this it will load a game with the tarantula already dead, so the prompt screen to unlock full game will never come up. Now you have the full game minus the achievements.Summary.- Kill tarantula- Press Start halfway through death animation- load last saved game- Enjoy awesome game for freeHave Fun!!I wonder if theyll ever patch this

DSi: Flipnote studio

Anyone with a DSi needs to log onto the shop and download it. It's a free app that lets you make your own frame-by-frame animations. It has an adjustable lightbox (to show prior frames through the current page), multiple brush textures and sizes, two animation layers per frame variable animation speed, and some pretty powerful cut and paste tools in addition to basic sound mixing support (including imported sounds from DSi Sound). It only has black, blue, and red as far as colors, though. The biggest downside to the software is that drawing on the DSi's screen is kind of awkward. A textured screen protector would help make it more paper-like to draw on, but unfortunately those also destroy image quality. Still, I've been having fun making some gory cartoons of people getting sawed to pieces and tanks exploding and crap like that. One of the neatest features of the program is that it allows you to upload your animations to flipnote.hatena.com for others to view. Some of them are really, really good.
