Hi Guys,

I have a friend Stevan McAleer http://www.driverdb.com/drivers/12146/ who is an aspiring race car driver that's had great success through the various ranks(even victory over Lewis Hamilton is Karting) with the only thing limiting him being the exuberant costs of the sport...much like everything else in life in racing you gotta pay to play. The reason for this post is he's trying to enter a major competition http://www.db.com/grandprixshootout/ which can be his catapult to the upper echelon of the sport and even though theres a hefty entry fee theres also a way 3 drivers can be allowed to compete for free if they receive enough votes. There are 150 drivers competing for the 3 spots so I want to do my best to help out a friend who is so close to achieving a dream he's pursued his entire life. You can vote(ends September 30th) individually a maximum of 7 times at http://www.driverdb.com/drivers/12146/.
If you can find the time to vote it will be greatly appreciated, or if you can get friends to vote through facebook, myspace, etc. I would be hardstruck to find a word to express my gratitude. quadruple amputee to fight in MMA match

I just had to click on this story. THis guy was born with no arms below the elbow and no legs below the knee. He is supposed to be competing in a MMA match. There was a lot of debate about him fighting, and after appealing a denial for a license, he was allowed to compete.

I just dont think this is a good idea. I honestly dont see how he can defend himself or even move around the ring. His opponent isnt allow to kick him, which should give him a chance.

Big 12 South Headed for a 3-way tie! What do you think the BCS will do

With OU, Texas, and Texas Tech likely ending their seasons with 1 Loss, the BCS system as usual has been thrown into controversy, but a little earlier than usual. Interestingly enough in the Big 12 conference the BCS rankings at the end of conference play determine the victor of the Big 12 South or North in the event of a tie. Here's where things get hairy, with the obliteration of Texas Tech in Norman (I was there, helluva game) Texas took the #2 spot in the BCS polls but barely edging out #3 OU (IIRC it was by .0028). This week represents and interesting week for many many reasons. Firstly, the winner of the Big 12 will likely play in the national championship in Florida. This is unique because with a 3 way tie, each team has ideal scenarios. Coming into this week Texas is royally screwed, coming off a by-week and playing a Nobody Texas A&M team is likely to gain Texas almost no points. Texas doesn't want OU to beat #12 OSU because the points OU gains by beating 2 ranked teams in a row will likely cause OU to leapfrog Texas, automatically winning OU the Big 12 South spot BUT, Texas does want OU to beat OSU because if OU loses the comparison will be between Texas and Texas Tech and Tech won their head to head matchup and Texas Tech will win the Big 12 south. Texas can only hope that the BCS polls will hold them over OU in the event of an OU victory over OSU. Things get hairier from there trust me, OU has to hope and pray that their steamrolling of Texas Tech doesn't make Tech drop the ball against Baylor this weekend because that will put the consideration only between OU and TExas and Texas beat OU head to head on a neutral field. Lastly Texas Tech has to hope Texas beats Texas A&M (who has beaten Texas 2 times in a row) because if Texas loses, the consideration will be between OU and Texas Tech and OU beat Tech head to head. Needless to say this will be an interesting week in College Football. The Big 12 south can go to anyone this week and That makes it so damn exciting! Discuss!

I like it.

Allen Iverson finally adds some superstar spice to Detroit's "same-old same-old" mix. Rodney Stuckey is well on his rise to becoming a great point guard, and with Chauncey Billups at 32 years old, Detroit definitely needed some change. Iverson's already proven he can play alongside other superstars (Carmelo in Denver), so we'll see how well he meshes with the Pistons. I'm just wondering how Detroit will utilize his skills; if he'll be the go-to-guy in their setup, or if they'll try to make him more of a contributor and just a reliable scoring backup..... it'll be interesting

Mr. Big Shot Billups brings reliability, consistency & veteran leadership to the point guard spot in Denver. McDyess & Samb fill in the Marcus Camby-less void that Denver now has. J.R. Smith has been progressing nicely, and looks to be like a future carbon copy of Iverson. Billups will be a great compliment to the young team. and hey.. Carmelo gets the ball more. Always a plus

I am assuming that this would be a more appropriate place for this particular question than Gen Chat.
I am looking into the Cell Mass product in particular. I have had great success with creatine powders over the years, and lately I have read good things about BSN. I would like some actual real world opinions from users or maybe other brands or alternatives. Can anyone recommend an effective creatine in capsulated form maybe?
Not interested in any sterol compounds or crazy stacks. I am just interested in something that will maximize good old fashioned nausea inducing routines, randomly ruthless workout schedules and a decent diet.
I plan to run a simple stack of creatine, properly balanced amino acids, and some quality whey protein. This trio has served me very well in the past, and due to the simplicity, reasonable cost and general effectiveness, I will continue along this path. Outside of my daily multi-vitamin and Metabolife, I have been off supplementation for just over 2 years, and I see quite a few things have changed in that time. My trips to the gym have fallen off considerably both in frequency and especially intensity.
I am starting to get a li'l bit squishy here and there...and there...and there also.

Not-So-Ancient Chinese Secret.

The International Olympic Committee has ordered an investigation into the age of Chinese gymnast He Kexin, The Times of London reports. Faced with almost insurmountable evidence which suggests that He is two years younger than the birth date listed on her Chinese passport, the IOC has launched an inquiry that could result in the stripping of He's gold medals.

This news comes on the heels of another Times report that details the findings of a New York computer security expert who found official Chinese documents that list He's age as 14 years and 220 days. Mike Walker used a Chinese search engine's cache feature to find He's actual date of birth on spreadsheets from a Chinese government website. The spreadsheets were taken down off the site recently and He's name had been removed.

Assuming the IOC is committed to a real investigation and not some dog and pony show, the revelation that the Chinese government covered up the ages of gymnasts could end up being the defining moment of these Games for the host country. Officials wanted the Olympics to be a coming out party for a new China. But while the Games have been a huge success, there is a legitimate possibility that China's legacy from Beijing '08 will be that of a massive government cover-up, not the magical Opening Ceremony or the transformation of Beijing or anything else positive.

All the good work China did to put on these Olympics could be forgotten because of an unnecessary, arrogant move by the government. Why risk everything to put a 14-year old in the competition when they could have replaced her with an of-age 16-year old gymnast? Sure, He is a better gymnast than the Chinese gymnasts who were eligible to compete, but with the judges they had at the Olympics, would it really have mattered?

anyways who do you think made the biggest improvement in the offseason since its coming to the end

now im not saying oakland has made the best improvement by any means or anywhere close to it. as a matter of fact they never address there biggest problem for years. a OFFENSIVE LINE. but im still a diehard fan

but i think dallas should not be metioned because thats kinda a given. Even tho they made a terrible mistake dumping everything into this next 2 years and not stretching it out (like every other respectable and great franchise) and they will be where the dolphins were last year

Only real loss for the Cavs was Drew Gooden and Larry Hughes was underachieving and overpaid while in a Cavs uniform.

Man what a disappointment, I just happened to start watching the Patriots full time in the pre-season this year to see what Randy Moss can do when he's finally on a good team(I'm from MN, how embarassing:cry:) I started cheering them on before everyone jumped on the whole undefeated bandwagon. Tonight they got close to being 100% undefeated until Plaxico Burress had to spoil everything, and make me lose money against acouple friends and co-workers.

..are FINALLY back on track. this is by far the best Laker team post-Shaq. we're 26-11, putting us ahead of Dallas and San Antonio, tied with Phoenix for First place in the West. we're also 3rd place overall, only behind Boston and Detroit.

with Bynum out for at least 8 weeks (knee injury), and Chris Mihm out for 3 weeks, rumor has it the Lakers are looking at bringing in free agent Chris Webber to fill in the 5-spot. I think he would be a perfect addition to the triangle offense, seeing as he is a great passer and can also knock down that midrange jumper.

I've got a situation I have to figure out by Sat. when we draft.

First off... I've got the #3 pick in the draft.
Also.. it's a mild keeper league... I was fortunate to pick up Joseph Addai last year, and I will be able to retain him by using my 4th round pick.

So I have pick #3 in a 12 man league.

I am positive that #1 will be LT, and #2 will be Stephen Jackson.

So who do I take with #3????

- Larry Johnson seemed to me to be the obvious choice, but.. He is still holding out (though sounds ready to sign soon), so he's missed camp, he lost two all star o-lineman, and they don't have a strong passing attack now that Trent Green is gone. I think opposing defenses are going to stack the line and try to make KC win by throwing the ball.

- Frank Gore is a keeper for another player.. so he's out.

- Addai I already have.

- Shuan Alexander - A strong candidate.. hopefully will stay healthy! Has a pretty strong line and a nice passing game to keep the D honest.

- Rudi Johnson - solid and consistant with the Bengals

- Laurence Morony - should have a strong year with the Patriots as the featured back... but will they pass 80 times a game now?

- Payton Manning - can't go wrong.. but could he fall to the 2nd round? Is he worthy of the #3 pick?

Anybody have any insight for me?? I'm looking for opinions and ideas.
