Hello! New Here...

Hello everybody, new guy here. Looking forward to talking with you guys over the next long while! I've been looking over everything for the past few days and have been totally impressed. I'm a big searcher before asker so don't mind me if I'm a little quiet for now. Recently just got a 1992 240sx Coupe 5MT with the head pulled off the KA and some bits missing here and there. Planning on a GTR build but I still have a long ways to go before deciding if that's worth it! Love to keep the AWD, seen it done on that RS14 or whatever they have a website for, but hell if I know how they did it. Yet. Plus's, I am a fabricator and a career bodyman with a MIG welder on hand. Can't wait to get started!! Have a good one people!

Far Cry movie...I swear I saw this on TV in the '80s.

http://www.youtube.com/watchv=Q2AgFecNaksNot exactly new, but I ran across it again today and had to post it up.It looks like an '80s made for TV movie. The cinematography is horrible, the dialog is horrible, the special effects aren't special, and they actually make a "is that your gun or are you just happy to see me" joke. Wow. I knew Uwe Boll sucked but it appears this time around he chose to capitalize on that suck. If it's bad enough it might be awesomeAnd why do they keep changing Valerie's last name In the original it was Constantine. In the Xbox port it was Cortez. In the movie it's Cardinal. WTFEDIT:Also, the guy who plays Krieger looks familiar:http://www.youtube.com/watchv=qptL18HZax4

For the DIY'er: Tools and their definitions.

DRILL PRESS: A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly-painted project which you had carefully set in the corner where nothing could get to it. WIRE WHEEL: Cleans paint off bolts and then throws them somewhere under the workbench with the speed of light. Also removes fingerprints and hard-earned calluses from fingers in about the time it takes you to say, "Oh, s***!" SKILL SAW: A portable cutting tool used to make 2 by 4 studs too short. PLIERS: Used to round off bolt heads. Sometimes used in the creation of blood-blisters. BELT SANDER: An electric sanding tool commonly used to convert minor touch-up jobs into major refinishing jobs. HACKSAW: One of a family of cutting tools built on the Ouija board principle ... It transforms human energy into a crooked, unpredictable motion, and the more you attempt to influence its course, the more dismal your future becomes. VISE-GRIPS: Generally used after pliers to completely round off bolt heads. If nothing else is available, they can also be used to transfer intense welding heat to the palm of your hand. OXYACETYLENE TORCH: Used almost entirely for lighting various flammable objects in your shop on fire. Also handy for igniting the grease inside the wheel hub out of which you want to remove a bearing. TABLE SAW: A large stationary power tool commonly used to launch wood projectiles for testing wall integrity. HYDRAULIC FLOOR JACK: Used for lowering an automobile to the ground after you have installed your new brake shoes, trapping the jack handle firmly under the bumper. BAND SAW: A large stationary power saw primarily used by most shops to cut good aluminum sheet into smaller pieces that more easily fit into the trash can after you cut on the inside of the line instead of the outside edge. TWO-TON ENGINE HOIST: A tool for testing the maximum tensile strength of everything you forgot to disconnect. PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER: Normally used to stab the vacuum seals under lids or for opening old-style paper-and-tin oil cans and splashing oil on your shirt; but can also be used, as the name implies, to strip out Phillips screw heads. STRAIGHT SCREWDRIVER: A tool for opening paint cans. Sometimes used to convert common slotted screws into non-removable screws and butchering your palms. PRY BAR: A tool used to crumple the metal surrounding that clip or bracket you needed to remove in order to replace a 50 cent part. HOSE CUTTER: A tool used to make hoses too short. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent to the object we are trying to hit. UTILITY KNIFE: Used to open and slice through the contents of cardboard cartons delivered to your front door; works particularly well on contents such as seats, vinyl records, liquids in plastic bottles, collector magazines, refund checks, and rubber or plastic parts. Especially useful for slicing work clothes, but only while in use. SON OF A b**** TOOL: Any handy tool that you grab and throw across the garage while yelling, "Son of a b****" at the top of your lungs. It is also, most often, the next tool that you will need.

Super light beers...really

Ok, light beers have been around for years. Typically they have a little less alcohol than their fatter older brother, but also have a couple less grams of carbs and proteinthus less calories making them light. For a while, I drank light domestics and if Im at the bar and all they have are the typical domestics, I will still order a Miller light. Why Because they all taste like water so I might as well save a couple calories. So, no issue with light beers, they have their place. But now we have these annoying super light beers out that I normally would have just ignored, but I keep getting bombarded with commercials on my radio stations. Bud Select 55 is the lightest beer in the world at only 55 calories! Awesome, now we can have just as much watery beer, but with half the taste!Thinking of the chemistry behind beer and calories, I laugh thinking of these super light beers. A normal beer has between 4-5% alcohol by volume, which means either .48-.60 ounces of alcohol per 12oz beer.Ethanol has a density of 23.3g/ozSo that means theres 11.2g-14g of alcohol/12 oz beer.Ethanol has a caloric value of 7cal/gSo now we know there are 78.4-98 calories/beer in just alcohol. You can now probably see why I laugh at these super light beers. If a beer has 55 calories, then we know its going to have quite a bit less alcohol than other beers.Sure enough, I looked up the alcohol % of Select 55 and it says its 2.4% AbV . So a person would have to drink two of those beers to equal the same alcohol content of one normal beer. So now theyre up to 110 calories and had to drink 24oz of crappy watery tasting beer.So seriously, why do we need these super light beers And dont say for women, because women can drink light beers and just get drunk off 2 or 3; Cheaper that way too.Side note: My favorite beers have between 250-320cal/12oz depending on the beer. My most favorite has nearly 320 calories in alcohol alone...so it's likely around 400 calories per 12oz, maybe more.

Anyone collect Baseball cards

From around 1995 - 2000 my X and I needed something to do as a hobby and we started collecting baseball cards. I probably have 40k+ cards in boxes and I'm going through them to get rid of them on ebay or whatever. I have some complete sets I'm putting up and I have some "working sets" I was trying to put together, along with lots of inserts and crap.Anyone collect these on NICO or have a certain player they like I'm letting these go pretty damn cheap.

Pics from Edwards AFB in Mojave, CA

So I've been to Edwards AFB in Mojave, CA 3 times this week and decided to take some pics. Edwards is where all of the Air Force's new jets get tested and Nasa's shuttles land there when Cape Canaveral isn't able to accept them. Apparently they've also got a bunch of F22's and the new F35 Joint Strike Fighters. It's also where the Air Force's Test Pilot School is located which is why I was there. Not because I was in training, but because I was building 2 new command posts for them, unfortunately no pics of those. Here's some pics of the aircraft that they've got on display. Thanks to all in our armed forces for their dedication and commitment. I gotta say it's amazing being on base and seeing all of the work, money and technology that goes into our military.

Saw a new Taurus SHO today.

First time I've seen one in person, and I was struck by how much less attractive it is in person than on paper.Primarily, it is WAY too tall. Even by modern car standards. In person, however, its little flaws gain emphasis. Things like the black rollpan and rockers, which make the already-tall car look like it is riding 3 feet off the ground. When I was driving next to it, the lip of the trunk lid was mere inches lower than the ROOF of my Q. The lip spoiler was above my eye level. That's retarded. The trunk is significantly higher than the nose (you can kind of see that in the image below). With nothing to compare it to, it looks nice. But next to normal cars it ends up looking cartoonish. The little dimple in the quarter panel (you can see the shadow from it in the picture below) looks TERRIBLE in person. I know it's supposed to continue the line from the doors...but that line ENDS at the doors. It doesn't need to continue. It doesn't work at all. That quarter panel would look better left smooth...even if it emphasized the cars tallness more, it'd still look better than the dimple. Also, I can't stand it when cars have those bulging abscesses around the license plate. My friends and I hatefully refer to them as "a** cancer." The license plate area should be cleanly blended to make it minimally intrusive, not augmented by giant rubber blobs.Perhaps most sadly, I didn't HEAR the car at all. The guy accelerated to pass me because his lane was ending. Not so much as a hum accompanied this. Who the crap wants a silent 350hp turbo car Ford fails. They had the opportunity to make something really interesting and instead were content to stick turbos on a blandmobile.

Synthetic Blend safe for breaking in a new engine

Would it be ok to use synthetic blend oil during the break in period on a new engine Winter is right around the corner and was wondering if I should wait longer or could use it right away. I had the engine replaced due to oil consumption and I'm running castrol gtx right now. I normally use Mobil 1 on all my vehicles but I'm gonna wait till I put about 5k miles on it before switching over. So far only 400 miles on the new engine.

For anyone that is or may know someone that is on Plavix.

I know most of us on here are waaay to young to be on heart medications, but we may know someone who is. http://www.google.com/hostedne...I4Q80Basically the FDA says that if you're on Plavix and are taking heartburn medications Nexium or Prilosec, that they may cut the effectiveness of Plavix by up to half. Plavix can cause heartburn, so it is sometimes prescribed with heartburn medication.
"FAIL" story from the SEMA show - XXR Wheels (rant inside)

I wanted to post this up as soon as we got back from SEMA, but we've both been busy as hell - Finally, I'm getting around to it...For those of you who haven't been to SEMA, it's the automotive industry's largest trade show of the year... It's HUGE. Four days isn't enough to see all the new products, displays, and upcoming technology - It's a car enthusiast heaven. So, Bex and I were wandering through the South Hall (wheel and tire vendors) when we happened upon the XXR Wheels booth. I'm off to one side looking at something, and Bex is taking a picture of the wheel display (from maybe 15 feet away).Suddenly, one of the vendor representatives (a young Asian woman) puts her hand on Bex's shoulder, steps between her and the display, and tells her "No cameras - No pictures!"I think we were too dumbfounded to even process what had just happened, because we walked away from their display - Becky was PISSED.So, here's my RANT for XXR Wheels:First of all - It's a trade show. EVERYONE is taking pictures. It's what you DO when you go to SEMA. Perhaps you didn't get the memo.Second - You do NOT lay a hand on an attendee. She's incredibly lucky that Bex didn't slap the snot out of her. Bad, bad idea.Third - XXR isn't a high-end wheel company. We took all the pictures we wanted at the HRE Wheels booth, and their wheels are well over $1,000 EACH. You can buy EIGHT wheels from XXR for the price of one HRE wheel.Fourth - You're handing out catalogs that contain pictures of your wheels. What are you trying to protect Oh... those "original" wheel designs Last, and most importantly - EVERY single design I've seen from XXR is a knock-off of another wheel. Yes, we all remember when XXR was called SportMax, and the wheels were knockoffs back then as well. So, what's the harm in someone taking picturesSo, here's what I'm going to do:I have a set of SportMax wheels on one of our cars, and a set of XXR wheels on another of our cars Since our cars get a TON of attention and publicity, I am taking those wheels off... I might sell them, I might store them, I might take them down to the recyclers and get $12 each for the aluminum.I'm also going to speak with someone from the company and find out who the idiot was, and let the company know that she cost them a LOT of customers.Since I'm a SEMA member, I'll be contacting SEMA Show Management as well. And next year, I'm going to stand in their booth and take close-up pictures of every wheel in the display and DARE someone to lay a hand on me.Stay tuned...

Stop going over speed bumps at an angle.

IT DOES NOT HELP ANYTHING. It just makes it effectively 4 bumps instead of 2. And it drives me nuts.Sure, if you're driving through a deep gutter, approaching diagonally can reduce the approach angle and make your bumper less likely to scrape. But speed bumps are not gutters. They are bumps. There is no "approach" there's the bump. If your bumper clears, your bumper clears. If it doesn't, it doesn't. No change in approach is going to help. This is not a gradual incline, it is a bump. And that's not to mention the fact that some of the lower points on many cars are between the tires. Going over a speed bump straight on lifts that point since both tires climb together. Approaching diagonally means you'll be dropping that centerpoint between the tires right onto the speed bump. Also, due to the fact that the car pivots over an imaginary fulcrum somewhere near the centerline thanks to spring suspension, you're actually LOWERING the inside rocker of the car as the 2nd front tire raises over the bump. That first tire/suspension is compressing. You are MAKING THINGS WORSE NOT BETTER.Even more annoying is people in 4x4s who cross the things diagonally. What in the blazing hells do they think they're achieving What the hell is the benefit supposed to be I don't get it. They're once again turning two bumps into 4 bumps. Just go over the damn thing! As long as you've got clearance there's nothing to screw around over. Just go over the damn bump and move on. Quit texas-turning across the whole smegging road/parking lot/lane/etc. just so you can traverse a speed bump at an angle in your Excursion. The Excursion does not even notice.Speed bumps are simple: you either have enough ground clearance or you don't. NO amount of approach variation can change this for a standard 4-wheeled vehicle.Just wanted to rant about that for a minute. Every time I see someone drive over a speed bump at an angle I want to stop and smack them.

Stop Sign Ahead Light Blinking Interval Decreased

I pass this sign all the time on the way to my girlfriend's house that is a 4-way-stop ahead sign. It has two flashing yellow lights attached to the top. I used to skate near there when i was young and i KNOW they used to blink slower than they do now, by a lot. They used to flash like every second and now it is like twice a second. I thought maybe something was just wrong with this one sign, but i noticed today that ALL of the yellow blinkers in Chesterfield VA are going faster. Has this occurred anywhere else or am i going crazy I would record a video but it would only be present day, i have no evidence of the pre-conspiracy blink rate. Can't find a picture, looks like this sign but with a 4 way ahead symbol:

Here Comes Kia

Today, the first Kia built in the United States rolled off the assembly line in Georgia. A 2011 Sorento SUV. One of 300,000 vehicles to be built here annually by the auto maker. Kia employs 2,500 people in their 2,200 acre facility that they invested over $1 billion dollars to build. The first thought that came to mind was "Here come the Koreans", especially considering the success Kia and hyundai have both had in the past several years. I wonder if anyone at the Big 3 felt like this when Nissan and Toyota first came to Americahttp://blogs.thecarconnection....Blogs)

Kia employs 2,500 people in their 2,200 acre facility that they invested over $1 billion dollars to build. The first thought that came to mind was "Here come the Koreans", especially considering the success Kia and hyundai have both had in the past several years. I wonder if anyone at the Big 3 felt like this when Nissan and Toyota first came to America?
http://blogs.thecarconnection....Blogs)

rip mazda3

i'm a little late on this, but about 2 weeks ago i had jury duty and on the way back from lunch i was traveling on franklin about to turn left onto walnut in Lancaster city. i approached the light and saw another car come the opposite direction. the light turned yellow so i began to slow down as the other car slowed as well. since the other car was slowing to what looked like a stop i decided to make my turn before the light turned red. as i turned the other car sped back up, i'm assuming because the driver thought it was clear to go through the intersection. She most likely thought this because she was diving without her glasses which her license states she needs in order to drive. when i saw her speed back up, i stopped with my front end slightly over the yellow line and someone with good eyesight would have seen and had the time to slow down. she did not see however and clipped my front passenger side and pushed my car into a parked car. No one was seriously hurt but we were both taken to the hospital to be checked out. the officer issued me a citation stating that i was at fault for not yielding. obviously i disagree with this so i hired a lawyer and i'm fighting it. the insurance adjuster was able to come out the next day and the car was declared totaled. the pre accident value for the car was determined to be $18000 and we still owed $12000 on the loan so after paying off that loan and our deductible we got a check for $5500. i'm still dealing with insurance companies and such but we were able to purchase another car already. just some background on the old car, but it was a 2008 black on black mazda3 hatchback touring edition and auto. we purchased it new and had it for almost 2 years. we went with the used car lot at the mazda dealership this time around, mostly cuz the new mazdas look dumb. we managed to find a single owner 2007 mazda6 in cranberry red. 5 spd this time around and with the sport package; meaning v6, 5spd and stiffer springs. 17k miles (2k less then the 08 3 we had) and they wanted 19k. we talked them down to 18k and bought it that night. the car i really wanted sold from the time i was there on friday to when we came back on monday, which is too bad cuz it was a black on black mazdaspeed3 i'm very pleased with the 6 and love the power of the v6 and the 5 spd since the 3 was auto. the only thing missing on the car is an aux hookup and stock rear spoiler and i'm working on remedying both those problems. i dont have pics of the 6 yet but heres the add from the dealer's website. it probably won't stay on the site for long since the car isnt there anymore thoughhttp://lancastertoyota.com/Vehicle.aspxv=2387799and finally onto the pics of the carnagei'll keep this thread updated with how everything progresses

I dunno if you have heard about it but... http://www.dailyfinance.com/20...land/ I went to check it out as I couldn't believe it was real. Walked in the door and yup...it was real. Everything was tantalizingly out of reach(I don't really smoke anymore) though because only card holders and members of some organization are allowed to blaze in the cafe. There were jars of tons of different strains behind the counter that people had donated. Their coffee was pretty good too.Neighbors in NW Portland aren't too thrilled but hey what can you do.

I worked alot on programming in this mix. Programming is very important in a mix. As you'll see here. Programming is track selection and order. This mix flows and vibes so well throughout the mix.I planned on dropping this dirty on b****es as a closer for the electro stage at a local event. Sadly that fell through. Not much of a surprise though. No one wants to book me here in NM even though I'd rock s*** all day all night. Enjoi http://soundcloud.com/djz/tech...i-mix

Anyone around Washinton know Joshua Barbour (KillTheApex) He's got my wheels.

So, long story short, Joshua Barbour contacted me about some 240SX parts I had for sale. He came around and paid cash, the deal went smooth. He came around and worked on a motorcycle with me, again, everything went smooth. I did business with him several times and had nothing but good results. Well, he was getting ready to move to Washington and wanted to buy a set of S14 base model alloy wheels from me. I held them for him. He came around, picked them up and we rode out to sell his other set of wheels (Motegi MR7's). They didn't end up selling, and I let him hold onto the S14 wheels with the understanding that he'd pay me in the next day or two (yeah, my bad). He kept communicating for a while, and I agreed to either take the cash or the MR7's on trade. He never came through with either. Since then, his phone has been disconnected, he won't answer his emails or his myspace. Last myspace logon was 11/15/2009. I recognize I screwed up and let the merchandise go on a handshake and a promise, so in a way, I suppose I get what's coming to me for trusting someone. Even so, I think I'd be remiss to not see if someone else has any information on him or may know him personally, drop him a line and see what's up. I've got all the emails I sent and received with the agreements on what price or trade for the wheels if anyone would like to see them. Also his old phone number, too. User name here: KillTheApexMyspace page: http://www.myspace.com/barbour14 Last known email address: joshuabarbour@me.comHe drove a red 1991 240SX SE hatch. These are the wheels: On 10/2/2009, he asked for one week to try to sell the MR7's. The last time he responded to a message was 10/15/2009 and made no mention of the money or wheels, only a note he was in Washington and would be in touch. I haven't heard from him since. If anyone knows his whereabouts or has current contact information for him, I'd love to hear from you. Or just get in contact with him and see if he's alive. I hate to call him a scammer, since a cross country move does take some time to get sorted out, but even with that, he hasn't bothered to email in a month. Or if you all want to play personal army and flood his inbox, that's fine, too. Cliff's notes: An acquaintance got a set of wheels on credit. He never made good on the deal, moved across the country, and disappeared.

Woman who has 300 orgasms per day finds her perfect man

A WOMAN with a medical condition that gives her 300 orgasms a day has found a man of her dreams after she wore out a string of boyfriends.Michelle Thompson, who suffers from Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome, thought she was just too demanding for men and would never find the man of her dreams. But she has been with her neighbour Andrew Carr, 32, for the past six months and he's as keen for sexual intercourse as she is and they make love 10 times a day."Andrew has changed my life. I'm no longer looking for a cure for my orgasms - I've found it," Michelle told The News of the World newspaper in the UK."Now I have a huge grin on my face all the time, and it's not just because of the orgasms."Michelle's rare condition means she always craves sex and can climax at any time anywhere. She even had to quit a job in a biscuit factory because the machines kept setting her off."I know I'm lucky to have so many orgasms when there are women who have never had one. But the condition has ruined my love life," she said.Michelle's first boyfriend bowed out after a few months saying he couldn't keep up with her demands. And over the years several others gave up - with one telling her he was a man not a machine. She dated one man for five years but "by the time we broke up, he was exhausted, he left as a defeated man".Then in May she met Andrew, who is divorced, who lives over the road in Nelson, Lancashire, England."I did worry that he would grow tired of me like everyone else, but when I told him he laughed and said he would burn me out first," she said.Source: http://www.news.com.au/enterta....htmlVideo: http://www.newsoftheworld.co.u....htmlShame she isn't hot but I do hope there are more women with here "syndrome" out there, Gigidy

Even without Dodge Ram, Ghosn says Nissan Titan will survive.

When Dodge announced that it wouldn't be sharing its Ram platform with Nissan, we just kind of assumed that the Titan was going to go the way of the Do Do. Why Because Titan sales are the suck. Nissan has only sold 15,393 copies of its largest truck through the first 10 months of the year. For perspective, Ford sold more F-150s in the first two weeks of October than Nissan has sold in 43 weeks. Last year wasn't much better either, as only 30,000 customers walked out of a Nissan dealer with a new Titan. But if a report from Inside Line is to be believed, the Titan will live on. Renault/Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn reportedly told IL that "Titan will have a replacement, we are staying in the large pickup truck market." It makes a bit of sense that there will be another Titan given the fact that Nissan also uses the basic platform for the Infiniti QX56 and the Nissan Armada. But then again those portly SUVs aren't exactly flying off the shelf, either.Speculation is that Nissan could be looking for an outside partner (or already have one) to collaborate on a new pickup. We're thinking one candidate could be Toyota. The only other Japanese automaker competing directly with the domestics in the U.S. half-ton pickup truck market, Toyota was expecting to produce 200,000 units per year of the Tundra when the it launched, but has sold only 66,000 through October. Teaming up with Nissan would help bring costs down, soak up extra production capacity and mitigate the risk inherent in competing against Ford, GM and Chrysler at what they do best.sourced: autoblog.com

http://www.wtvynews4.com/news/....htmlA burial at Arlington National Cemetery Friday had all the trimmings of a proper military funeral except one thing, the soldiers remains. It's theft in front of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. has left the family distraught. The urn containing the remains of bronze star and two purple hearts winner Army Colonel Norbert Otto Schmidt was taken from his familys SUV just before the funeral. The thieves also stole a computer and other items from the vehicle. The ceremony had to be moved to a different part of the cemetery but the gravestone will be moved to its proper place if the urn is found.Norbert Schmidt always wanted to be buried in Arlington so he could be alongside fellow soldiers he fought with in the Korean War.His family is hoping the thieves will return his remains.-----------------------------------------------------Wow.....How can anyone be so damn selfish to steal an urn.

A little local meet (took the Datsuns out...)

Bex and I hit the local westside meet (about 10-12 miles from the house)... Decided to take our 311 and 411. Bex got to drive the 311 for the first time, and the 411 desperately needs some steering work...There was a pretty good Datsun turnout... The highlight was a pristine orange 72 S30 with like 40K miles, the owner got it for $3200. Anyhow, pics of the meet:

The highlight was a pristine orange 72 S30 with like 40K miles, the owner got it for $3200.
Anyhow, pics of the meet:

Ok...Every time Im working or cleaning my car,My friend Nick (macneil) says I need to take off my mud flaps. I like them and imo without side skirts or rear valences the car looks kinda plain. Im just wondering everyones opinion on them. This is an old picture but you get the idea.
