VH45DE adapter plate to Z33 trans (CRUDE)

So as the title states I have made a crude yet functional 3 piece adapter plate that mates the Z33 trans to the VH45. I have been asked several times about it so I figured that I would post it up to kinda give some knowledge back to the NICO community. Yes I can make templates for anyone who wants to follow along. I can even make duplicates (better quality of course) but I've always trusted my own work to that of someone else's so assuming you're thinking like me I'm not trying to start a production run or anything like that unless its necessary. And to answer the obvious I did 3 piece instead of one because it's way cheaper and if I screwed up something I wasn't out $200 in aluminum. Plus this was done with simple hand power tools as I don't have full access to a machine shop.

My little project, VH in an HR31 Skyline coupe

Hey guys, I've had this project on the go for a number of years... it's now nearly finished, so I thought I'd share it with you!I've finished off most of the engine build that I started over 2 years ago hahahaI've used brand new head bolts, rod bolts, bearings, rings, cam cap bolts, gaskets etc... everything in the engine has been either replaced or freshened up.Most of the internal parts I've used like chains, cams, sprockets, lifters, finger rockers etc have come out of a very low km donor VH41DE I scored for 500 bucks. It used to be used in a boat, except they used steel exhaust manifolds that caused electrolysis corrosion on the exhaust ports (as seen in my build thread), hence a bunch of new condition parts for my stroker motor... woot!I'm using a VH45DE crankshaft and pistons which have been checked and prepped by the engine reconditioner and myself, the VH41DE rods are identical so I'm using the ones from the above donor engine.Block has been acid dipped, bores honed, everything checked, and deck surface machined down by about 0.3mm.Heads have been ported & polished, multi angle valve job, upgraded valvesprings installed (ready for when I cam it), and surface machined down a bit.. not sure how much. Between that and the deck machining, I should see a small increase in compression ratioI started at around 7pm two days ago, and didn't stop working on it for about 17 hours straight... stayed up all night, bled all the HLAs etc. This motor's gonna run mint, it's so tight to spin! Here's the full build thread for anyone interested in seeing my progress over the last 3-4 years.Pics are pretty self explanatory, enjoy!

GSRACER14 IS A FRAUD!!!

Hehehehe, just kidding. Jerry is a very cool dude and I just wanted to publicly thank him and his old lady for their time and generosity. He invited me over to his home and we looked at the Z last night, found a tight throttle cable and loose throttle stop, nothing else really wrong with my Z. I do have a slight vibration but it may be the spacer or flywheel mounting, to be fixed after clutch is destroyed i guess.Anyways he will go out of his way to help out random strangers and serial panty thiefs like myself with their VH swapped projects. He is a top notch guy and is very trustworthy and short and cute, like a little puppy. lol Im just playin man, thanks a lot for everything! If I can do anything for you let me know, I'm still wanting the heads. I'll be here till Saturday or Sunday, you're welcome to our poker night on friday at my place in Hallandale, feel free to bring your wife, I'll have my girl here. They can sit on the balcony overlooking the ocean, sip some wine and talk about nail polish or whatever. Let me know, I'll text addy.Sorry, I digress... if anyone ever rides shotgun in his 450sx let me tell you, it is insane, just insane. This guy can drive, seriously. I'm off to Houston now, looking forward to my next project. 560ZX Ben

Copper 450ZX

Hey everyone,I figured it was about time to finally post about my ride since it cranked up one the first attempt last weekend, much to my surprise. It is another Z32, which seems to be the most popular chassis for the swap, but maybe mine's different enough to not make a boring read. Here is what it looked like when I bought it for next to nothing right around New Year's. It was in dire need of paint, and other than having a few dents the body was in pretty good shape. Originally I was just going to paint the car and rebuild the engine, but after a bit of trouble with an engine shop to machine it, (6 months) I figured I might as well put in something with a little more power without doing the TT swap. Here are a couple of pics after painting (my first paint job) which turned out to take MUCH longer than I expected, but wasn't that difficult. It has DuPont Chroma series paint ($470 gallon, ughh) with 4 coats of clear, wetsanded with 2000 grit and buffed. Pic above shows the car with the custom nose panel that I made, and the hood wasn't buffed at the time. Probably have to repaint the hood now with the VH, wish I would have decided to do the swap before painting. So for the VH related stuff. I went ahead and notched the crossmember to fit the headers, used 11 ga and 1/4" steel to fab up the new perches to use the Q's stock mounts. The oil pan is a rear sump setup, with it sitting down as far as possible. I made it with 1/4" flanges, 14 ga body, and the back part is 7 ga with a piece of 3/8" machined down to make it an integral gusset. I forgot to take picks of the trap door and baffle on the inside before mounting it. It holds about the same oil as the stocker does, and allows the motor to sit with the headers about 1/4" below the frame rails. The goofy looking boss on the side of the pan is for the dipstick (it is hollow out, btw) to be mounted in the proper place. I had to bend the upper mount a little, along with adding a little more curve to the dipstick tube, but it looks like it was meant to be there in the first place. If anyone is interested in the oilpan, I can post some drawings and a rendering. Updates to follow- Garrett

My Z32 vh45de swap....

I thought I'd post a bit about my vh45de Z32 swap... I know this has been done dozens of times (maybe even hundreds) by nico members, but I think its cool to keep a log of completed work and share the experience with others. I have probably spent over 60 hours reading and researching the conversion before actually turning a wrench. Most of that time was spent reading the plethora of info here on Nico!Anyhoo....Here's my 1990 300zx n/a automatic pos... I got it in a trade. I've always wanted one, and have had a few 280z's in the family before. After a brief adventure getting it home, I realized the engine situation was worse than I thought. Chatty vtc's, bad injectors and some smoke issues at idle... The obvious choice was to replace the engine with something more reliable AND more powerful! I scoured the web and found a Q45 about an hour from my house for $300, with a locked up motor. My plan was to tear down the motor and use the block for fabrication(oil pan/motor mounts), and get some of the fab work out of the way until I ran across a good engine, as well as getting the wiring harness ready. I picked it up and the fun began removing the engine... from under the car... because I'm special like that. In hindsight, I recommend removing the engine from the top of the car... I just did it that way because I saw someone on Youtube do it that way, granted, they had a lift. The good news is that the engine wasn't actually locked up, just the starter, but I wouldn't find that out until after I tore it down, and my next purchase. As luck would have it, I had to leave town for work a few days after I pulled the first engine, I jumped on craigslist and found a Q45 in running condition for $500 in Richmond, VA which is where I was headed to work. Two flat trailer tires, 4 ghetto fabulous rims and 23 hours later I was home and ready to tear into the Z! This is only the 3rd engine I've ever pulled, but man it took forever. I would hate to work on a stock TT! Some people said it was necessary to pull the auto tranny off before removing the engine, but I had no problems. You just have to make sure the car is about 18" off the ground, and you have a jack to lift the oil pan/tranny over the crossmember before putting the full weight of the engine on the hoist. I found some serious issues with the steering components and rear end components of the Z. Whomever had this in the past ragged the poop out of it! I guess the giant NISMO sticker on the windshield and mismatched rims should have been a clue to stay away from this car. Regardless, between the 3 cars I think I can get the Z back on the road by next summer. I've decided to run the stock automatic q45 tranny, which is something I haven't seen done yet, but from what I hear shouldn't be that difficult, as its the same one that came in the n/a zx's, and is the same as was in my zx. Next up is focusing on the motor mounts and harness wiring. To be continued...

Vh41 Rev limiter at 4000rpm

Hi everyone, i have a '73 XA falcon sedan that ive put a vh41 into, ive removed the auto box and put a manual holden t5 behind it. It has no clutch, just flexplate still.I have it running on a commodore v8 vn delco 808 computer system, changed the cam-angle sensor to a dizzy n coil. Custom plenum with 8 I.T.B's on top.Its runs beautifully smooth, it just hits a limiter at 4000rpm...What could be the problem if you have any ideas on the computer system or possible mechanical causing this...its greatly appreciated.Thanks.

vh41 y32 vs y33

Has anyone had an experience with the y33 vh41There seems to have been a change in the manifold design, I was initially only interested in the spider design as I was lead to believe that it was the most efficient of the 2 buuuuuuuuuuuuuut.....http://autospeed.com/cms/title....html has some info that contradicts that. The y33 seems to have a log style manifold and achieve peak power 400rpm lower aswell as increasing torque by 6nm and achieving it 400rpm lower as well.Having said all that I dont want to buy one if they have changed the design of the chain guides and all the rest like what happened on the VH45.**By the way I am limited to the vh41 due to local restrictions so please dont post about the vh45!

I'm looking for a VH41 or 45 to put into my Pathfinder. I'm in Sydney and have had no luck so far with wreckers. They can get them, but nil stocks at the moment. I've tried SSS Autos and Ichiban. Does anyone know who else I could try I need the complete motor and auto, with harness and ECU etc. Would consider a half cut, but not entirely necessary and must be late model as it's going into a 99 pathy and I don't want any dramas with the engineer.Ric

VH45 Trans Bell Housing

Hi,I've been lurking around this forum for quite some time, and slowly collecting parts and ideas for my swap. I have the engine (one complete and one donor one, to be exact), couple MT's I've been toying around w/, and other misc. parts, but there's one thing I can' seem to find--a VH bell housing. I'm not too keen on the adapter plate idea, as I want to use the VH starter. And junk yards want to sell the whole AT as an assembly. Do any of you guys here still have your VH transmissionsKennyhttp://blastracing.blogspot.com/

VH45 plenum

I know that the factory plenum's runners are tuned to help the motor make power around a certain rpm range. If you were to Maz out this motor to aid in spinning it faster, would not the intake start to work against you I saw somewhere that one guy had his plenum cut down to get some hood clearance, but could cutting down on the plenum height affect its tuning point along the rpm range What about ITB's as an option I saw that someone was using them fabed up from a motorcycle application but they gave no detailed info it. Does anyone here know how this is achieved I really have faith in this motor's potential, and I am choosing it to build my car around and I am sure I am not the only one looking to get everything out of it.

Has a stock VH45 or VH41 head ever been flow benched I searched both this forum and google for the obvious terms which I thought would bring up such numbers, and came up empty. Only found VK45 numbers. Saw some mention of head flowbenches on the GPforums in a thread mettler was talking to 1UZ fan in, but didn't see any actual numbers. I imagine these numbers have got to be available somewhere, as the 41 is so popular down under.

Searching for high HP VH dynos.

I've spent the afternoon searching google and various forums including this one for VH dynos to see if there are any documented in the 600-700 or higher HP range and I'm coming up blank. I've seen posts talking about the TT VH boats down under, but no real numbers to speak of other than numbers that strike me as being ballpark and hearsay, nothing concrete. Anyone have any links to dynos of engines that actually provide some level of detail on what has been done (or not done) to the engines and the numbers associated with the build

ok I have been on this site for a while reading all the post and just dying to start a project myself. Well the project is a go. I just got a hold of a 93 q45 and I blew the head gasket on my Z. With all the information on this site I can't wait to get my hands dirty. I just have one question and I know that I will be the noob for this but I just have to ask. I read that you could put the heads from a VK45DE on a VH45DE and gain a good deal of HP. If you can what extra things if any do I need to do to make it work. Thanks in advance for helping the noob out and I will be posting picks of the donor car and my Z32 next week as well as the engine.

Right now im in the middle of pricing out a vk56de swap into my 370z, my question is are the vk45 and vk56 blocks the same/similar enough for me to throw in a crank from a vk45 to lower the stroke in the vk56 and decrease the displacement to 5L. i would be doing all custom internals and have a high revving n/a like what John Dixon has in his 300zx but with the vk engine block (I think it would end up being the same bore and stroke as his car i think 98mm bore x 82.7 stroke)

Big time fuel problems grrrrrr

Ok, guys heres the skinny.Im out of fuel.I replaced my fuel pump with a brand spanking new walbro 255hp. The car doesnt drop fuel pressure anymore and doesnt go crazy lean anymore but i am officially out of injector.Data logs showat 5800rpm 87% injector duty cycle and 12.3 afr wotand by only 6600rpm99% duty cycle 12.1 afr wot.Clearly im out of injector, now heres some ideasBand-aid ideai can run the injectors @ 4br 59psi rail pressure and give me a new flow of about 430cc per minute, and i should see 88-90 percent duty cycles by redline. Only problem is that with that rail pressure the walbro 255 will only flow enough fuel to support 440cc injectors. So ill be maxing out the pump yet again!!!! My only solution to this is to run either a second walbro intank, or an external pump such as an aeromotive. The right idea.Grab some deatscworks 550cc injectors and run them around 74 percent duty cycle by redline, but once again not enough for the walbro as at standard rail pressure it will only flow enough for 480cc. So im in the same boat.My main problem is $$$ i have officially run the project fund dry here, i cant afford to do both the pump and the injectors, so do you guys think that runnning the stock injectors at 4 bar and 88-90% duty cyclle is a bad idea Obviously i would imagine that 99 percent is much worse, but im really concerned about the 12.1 afr as i would like it to be a tad lower in the 11.7-8 range. What are you turbo guys doing, i find it so hard to believe im flowing so much air through this motor that dumping 370cc of fuel per cylnder is not completly pig rich I mean the maf is pegging 5.094 volts @ redline, which is the highest ive logged but im not to concerned with that as much as the high duty cycles and afr.

I have the opportunity to acquire a 6 speed tranny from a G35 but I need to find out if anyone has any technical info on this tranny and specifically how good a match it will be with the VH45 Is this a strong tranny How close is it to the size of the 300ZX tranny like Wes used in his Q45I'm not too concerned about the adapter but are there any off the shelf adapter plates for it If not I can get one made, I have an engineer at the office that is a wiz on CAD and we can send it to a machine shop or water jet cutting shop we use all the time to get cut out. What I am concerned with is the fitment in the Q45 and how strong it will be.Any thoughts

Bellhousing modification questions

So as you can tell the person who was supposed to be sectionong my bellhousing for me was full of it. Kept the trans and bellhousing and spare block for 4 months and didn't do a thing. So since I'm definately doing this one all on my own (I know I should've done it this way first) I was wanting to get some feedback from those of you who have been there before me. Should I section it and weld it ala Carl H Or should I create an adapter plate for it (350z 6 speed to vh) Any other suggestions are welcome as well. Thanks guys don't know how I'd do it without brave souls out there leading the way.

This motor has come a long way in the last few years. From no known swaps with it, and no third-party support, to custom pistons, mounting kits, and everything else these days. Although I can't think of anyone who has taken this powerhouse to its limit, I am sure some of you guys out there have an idea of what it would take, and maybe what it would be able to do if someone were to do it. If you think you know what it takes to max out this motor, or have a valid idea of what kinds of numbers it could put up (max rpm, hp, torque), I would love to hear it. I am quite sure some of the other people here would to.

Ticking noise at startup till warm

I have a 1993 Infiniti Q45 with a VH45DE (obliously). The engine was rebuilt at 30K miles in 1997, The Prevous Owner hydrolocked the engine by going though a big puddle of water. The #7 rod was replaced and all the pistons were re ringed, and brand new gaskets all around. The under plenum hoses were replaced in 2005 along with the injectors and rails and harness.A little more than a year ago I start up the car and I get a rough startup/idle and it idled real low when in gear (500 RPM's) and it did'nt want to move back (I had to open the thottle for it to move). The oil light stays on for no more than 2 seconds at cold start up and the pan is not dented.Throttle Body is clean as a whistle and was replaced with a clean one Yesterday.Oil changed every 3000 miles or less.Engine mounts and Trans mounts have less than 100K on them.AAC valve fairly clean.Oil fill hole:The ticking noise appears more when the engine is cold and never when the car is hot.So I am guessing oil related...What can I do to fix thisAlso the engine idles between 625-675 what would cause thatNo intake or vacuum leaks there is an exhaust leak that I need to address though. If you need any more info let me know.

Cams/Valvetrain: A Lesson learned!

Developed a bit of an oil leak a few weeks back so decided to investigate when I had some spare time. Was a bit alarmed to find a hole punced in the top of the rocker cover!!To cut a long story short, it looks like if you re-grind the cams massively like mine were and reduce the base circle down a lot then you're going to have to compensate by fitting longer valves or the rocker arms can fall off like 8 of mine did (sure the 9k rpm didn't help) No serious damage fortunately but I could have done without it to say the least!New cams/longer valves on order soon and get it fixed once I move house.Oh, also, iskey datsun 1200 valvesprings apparently work perfectly in the VH45 and give abotu 90ibs on the seat.Anyone got a spare set of 92 rocker covers!

I've got a whooping 2-inches between the pavement and the lowest part of my system which is the actual muffler. I realize there are variables so here is my setup.Tein S-techs ~1.5 in of drop3 in exhaust tubing into a Magnaflow x pipe muffler (22Lx11wx5 thick)Whats everyone else getting for clearance

3D modeling of Cylinder Head

I have access to a high quality 3D scanner at work. I would like to make a model of the intake and exhaust runners and also the combustion chamber for CAD flow analysis. However I dont think that the scanner will be able to scan deep inside the runner and I cant really come to work with a cylinder head... So if someone has a broken one all I would need is one combustion chamber which could then be cut open, scanned in parts and then mended toghether to make a complete model.I am just throwing this out there, I would have to ask the guy who uses the scanner to confirm if it is possible. I am just looking if there is interest and if an old head is taking up somebody's usefull space. Of course I would have no problem sharing the info. I would also try to make the two sets of Busa ITB's I bought of ebay fit on it by begging my collegues to make some adapters and trumpets in titanium using the EBM rapid prototyping.

Just gathering some info on what people think. I will be swapping a vh45de into my 240 one day. The car will be pretty much just be setup for drifting and whatever else spirited driving i want but putting it sideways is where i want to put the focus on. Now what would people suggest. Of course on the start it will be a stock motor and z32 trans. Planning on running some 18's out back. So people like Gsracer (sp) and others who run this similar setup. How do you like your ratio and would be like it to be higher or lower. So ummstock 2404.64.9

Z32 AC

So I have test fitted the VH in my Z, along with modifying the crossmember to fit the headers, built the motor mounts, and am 90% done with the rear sump oil pan, whoo-hoo. I am eventually going to start a thread with lots of pictures, along with my oil pan design. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Over the weekend, I was able to do some measuring for the radiator and such, and ran into a few things that are worth asking. For those of you who have completed the swap, are there any who have the AC running I measured about 4 1/8" between the VTC solenoid and where the front of the radiator will be. There seems to be very little room for the puller fan setup without pushing the radiator into the support like Superhatch did. On the other hand, if you put the fans in front, will there be sufficient airflow through the AC condenser T45, do you have any issues with not having the stock condenser fan BTW, I found the button that allows you to search past the 365 days so I read all of the older post that answered most of my wiring questions, kinda makes me feel like an idiot Thanks

Intro Thread for Protune Racing

Ok so i thought i might introduce myself finally. I have been viewing the forum for a year but never posted but id like to get more involved nowMy name is James, i live in Sydney Australia.Ok so i have owned a few cars. 300zx Z32, 260z, Q45 and now a s13Im currently building a s13 with a vh45.Ill put a build thread up soon with lots of pics and vids. The car will be the basis for the Protune Racing line of aftermarket VH45 performance parts. Finally some aftermarket for the VH!Protune Racing is a business a friend set up and asked me to join. We do alot of work with Honda and Nissans. But we would like to start to making our own gear especially in niche markets like the VH which dont have much aftermarket support but there are plenty of enthusiasts such as myself craving some gear for a resonable price. Our website will be up soon and we are currently working on:Oil Filter Relocation blockS chassis conversionOil pump drive sprocket CamshaftsITB Bolt on IntakesFuel RailsCustom FlywheelAnd other custom gearThe best thing is our gear will be cheaper than Mazworx and as we are an Australian based business and with the way the exchange rate is it will be even more cost effective for you guys to get your gear from us.Soon our new website will be up so i hope you guys check it out. Ill let everyone know when its up and running.Look foward to getting to know you all well.James Kerruish If you have any questions please email me at James@protune.com.au (Also if any mods are reading this i would like to change my user name to Protune Racing if thats ok)

Another VH Z32 Crossmember Done

Well, this one was actually done some time ago, but I figured I'd post pictures so people know the level of modification/fabrication required. This crossmember works with the stock VH manifolds, stock VH mounts, but requires a modified sump exactly as Nick's was modified, since this is Nick's new crossmember. Enjoy!

Ok so i started this project into a s13 coupe about 3 weeks ago,im putting a usdm vh41 out of a 1998 q45 (that i bought wrecked but i drove onto the trailer). Ive built this car only for track days to have fun and not care if i mess it up but what im running into and havnt been able to figure out is why i cant get spark ...OK heres what ive checked 1. good ground on all coils which all have a common ground2. I have 12.5v on all coilsWhat i dont have is anything to the wire that tells the coil to fireNow i probaly have the same problem for the injectors but im not to that point yet I did jump out the anti-theft relay and then i got power to the coilsANY help would be appreciated

The Venerable Auto Box 4/5 speed

Hey all, live in Aust so I can't actually drive one of these and am looking to put a VH41/45 Hybrid into a 240Z. Have lucked onto a guy who has had one of these with the 4 speed auto attached to a VH45 in a Patrol, he reckoned the box was great, have also heard of a few blokes who have added paddles to their car and played with the electronics to change shift rates and torque converter lockup. What I'm wondering is: Do Nissan only do a 4 speed or is there a 5I know the 41 block is diff to a 45, however is the box differentIf not then wouldn't the 41 block mate to a 45 box with a 41 bellhousingIs the VH45 bellhousing diff to a VK45 bell housingJust wondering as this way I may be able to get a 5 speed auto to play "like" a manual which may assist the traction control to get me off the line.May have also tracked a guy in Sydney who has done Billet cams for the 41 with a 45 crank, so they may fit the 45. Will post in the cams section when I find out more. The setup I may have picked up off him is as follows:VH41 Block re-sleeved to 98mmVH45 Crank re-sized(very slightly) to suit off the shelf billet rods12.0:1 forged pistons for E85 fuel, this combo gives swept volume of 5.0ltrs.Billet cams good to 9000rpm+ power wise, ground for HLA's so recommends to stop at 8200. He builds ski boat engines so these run at max revs for hours towing skiers in river racing.Stock 41 heads, available to re-valve for solid lifters, different cams, higher revs, better flows. Depends on what I want to do. Estimated power 650Hp flywheel conservative. Thank goodness I can de-tune.....a bit. Any help with the gearbox info would be very good please!!!Many Thanks!

VK in Datsun 510 Time Attack car

Hey all,I've never been too engulfed in the Nissan community but have taken on a number of Datsun/Nissan projects. My first one was too simple for me so I moved up into the realm of being ridiculous. I have built up a Datsun 510 with a semi-tube frame, big rear diff, rear radiator, etc. Its basically a GT car with some classic styling. I have a completely built KA24deT looking to make 500+whp but I am rethinking the plan. Since I started buying the parts and building the engine a couple years ago, I have started racing professionally and have become very aware of the performance in driveability gained from a naturally aspirated engine. Doing rough research has brought me upon the VK engine. I have a few questions holding me back at first...First off, what is the weight of the engine without the transmission I know the KA motor is MONSTROUSLY heavy thanks to its iron block. I figure the V8 should be heavier, but not by much thanks to lightweight parts. I have a lot of rear weight on the 510 (intentionally...) and want to try and see how bad the balance will be off with a new motor.I can't seem to find too many performance part options for this engine on simple searches-- this worries me. I am a bit confused at the difference in parts between the VK and the VH. I have seen cams for the VH but not the VK-- are they interchangeable I need all the rebuilding parts, plus the upgradeables like pistons, cams, bearings, head gaskets, studs, etc. Does anybody have a good source for all these thingsI've heard rumors of pretty serious power from these motors, what can I expect from a stand-alone engine management with some seriously hot cams, higher compression, etc I realize this is a super vague question, but I am curious if it's worth the responsiveness if my KA can make upwards of 700hp (its got the parts, it needs the tuning "testicles" to extract it).Anybody seen any ballpark prices for a beat-but-buildable VK45 I've seen a number of them in the $1500-2000 range. Is this normal I'm from [mostly] the BMW-end of the car market and have raced them my entire professional and amateur career to current. $2k for an engine is a FANTASTIC deal for a BMW and I want to make sure I'm looking at the right stuff! Thanks in advance for any help I find on here, I'm excited to get going and want to see if I can make this happen! Here's a picture of the car as of a couple months ago. Minor changes have been made, mostly to the interior and engine bay like steering and transmission stuff-- all of which will have to be removed to change motors as we packed all the components as tightly as possible! There have also been a number of changes to the rear cooling and fueling areas, so no comments on that, please!..... The original KA24det 90% finished..... Mock up of the front-end parts...... -Matt Bell

So im participating in a top speed run on oct 11th, just an fyi if anybody (t45) is around. Its a standing mile run, or a mile with a head start. We will see how she does, just interesting, i put the gear ratios into the calculator and got these speeds, ive never had a working speedometer in my car so its pretty shocking to say the least considering how many times ive buried the tach in 4th lol....

NICO ECU Buy..

Hey guys, im doing another run of a few NICO ECU's.. Im just starting working on them, and typically what I do is reprogram them and then send them out to guys, but if you guys want any customizations I need to have you prepay..MY ECU's typically are stageII and stageIII 2 way switcher ECUs...Customizations include EGR delete and Im pretty sure we can do AT delete. AT delete isnt a big deal as it doesnt throw a CEL (but EGR will) but its for those who like seeing code 55... Anyway, im beginning the run soon so if you want any of these customizations (might be able to do others too, just ask), you need to pre-pay since your ECU has to be customized for your vehicle which means I cant sell it to anyone... As usual, $350 to send my ECU out the door, $100 refunded when I get a working 90-93 core back... for a net cost of $250.. You are not required to send me a core back if you dont want to..Lead time for a custom ECU is probably about a month depending on how many I have to do... Just plan on a month or so.. IF you are interested, send me an email!!! Also, as a shameless plug...... A couple weeks ago I had to switch back in a stock ECU into my Q for a few days (dont ask)... Anything under 1500 RPMS and I would have to downshift... With my stage II program in the car, I could take the car all the way down to 500 RPMs in 4th gear and it would not buck or jerk, just slowly accelerate up... Not to mention above 4000 RPMs the thing just pulls like a freight train, and Im hauling around twice the weight as most of you guys are!!!Long story short, driveability is MILES better with the ECU in...

interesting single turbo idea..

So i was talking to a friend who is in the process of single turboing a sb chevy. Hes running a single 76mm off of one exhaust bank, i thought to my self what a novel idea. He doesnt care about low rpm power he cares about upper midrange/top end performance , plus hes only shooting for about 500 hp, and it was easier on his application just to plumb one side. This is a good idea for those of us with cramped engine bays as it is. Im just wondering as i have never heard of this done before. What are your guys thoughts on this. The q45 can be called two 2.2 l 4 cylnders and if you wanted good midrange / top end you can slap on a t3 or t4 67mm turbo and make (i think) pretty decent power there at low boost.Potential problems i see with this are1. Un even thermal load between both sides ( however this can be potentially solved by restricting the oppisite side down a bit)2. lack of spool (but hey its a v8 i doubt we will miss much of the low end)3. uneven air flow between banks given that one side will have more back pressure and less scavenging than the other (again could be solved by restricting the n/a exhaust a bit.)4. i really cant think of anything else lolAnybody know of this being done succesfully on other motors

oil light indicator

swapped engines on my Q-45- old engine was bad and got used engine from another club member with 90k and supposidly good running order. It starts and runs fine however initially the oil light came on after a few seconds and would blink rapidly. Changed the oil again and it seemed to get better but still came on. Ran some engine cleaner in oil and changed along with filter again. Now engine light stayed off and so did Check Engine light. Let run at least 30 minutes and light drive around town. No problem. First trip out of town started blinking rapidly about 10 minutes into trip @ 60mph. Then changed to solid before I got back to town. When stopped it went off but would return when started. From cold it stays off.Oil pump and other suggestions seemed to run fine even when it was blinking fast- loose wire or short sensor Any ideas would be great help. Thanks!
