Will Likely Pull the Trigger on 11/22

Met with a very cool salesman at Infiniti dealership east of Seattle, WA. I'm on the VPP program, so they were upfront: nothing difficult about the deal as the prices are pretty much known. Since this has to come from dealer stock...one was there: 2010, Premium package, Bose/Around view, Nav, 18" wheels, Plat Graphite.

I'm crunching numbers tonight, wondering about trade-ins and all that crap when I receive an email from the sales guy. He tells me how they average trade-in values (based on three things: Nada, Edmunds, and the auctions). Seriously. I've never had this kind of treatment and I'm pretty damn pleased. The auctions are the only wild card here as it could completely undermine my other calcs. Whatever, I guess.

Not sure why I'm waiting. I think I just need to start the whole process and get this over with so I can drive that beauty.

Anyway, just sharing. So far, so good!

How to skip voice options

After the 10th time every body knows the options you have once you press the 'voice button'.
Does any one of a way to skip the introduction....I mean the 'Please say Phone, Navigation or...' ?

My bluetooth is awesome - for ME. I hear everything fine, but all my friends don't want to talk to me because they hear every noise in the car like blinker, engine, air conditioner, bumps in the road, etc. There is so much background noise they can't hear me. I've played with volume settings but can't seem to find a way to fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Never seen anything so overly complicated in my life. In my last 3 cars I've never had this much trouble. Remove the ENTIRE glove compartment for a filter? You've got to be kidding me. Still, I did it because even after all that work it is still not worth paying the dealer to do it....but I came close.

To save frustration though you might want to do this every 20k unless you live in a dusty area.

XM Radio Reception Magically Returns

While tuning some FM stations set in my pre sets yesterday I happened to accidently click on one of the XM stations that remained in my pre set "A" screen and magically they all played? I havent signed up for any service since my 3 month trial period ended last June even though I have received 3 mailings from XM to re activate my service. I am not complaining but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this magic re activation?

Re-Painting Scratch Shield Paint

I was told my a body shop, they can color match the EX Scratch Shield Paint, they cannot re-paint any parts with the same paint. I guess if you need to paint a panel, you end up with one panel painted in regular paint with the balance of your car in scatch shield. My guess is that it will show over time. This might be a down side to our paint.

Ambient temperature reading low

Today for some odd reason my ambient temperature started reading about 15 degrees lower then it actually is. It was working fine up until today which is odd. I did wash and polish the car today..not sure if that could have affected it somehow but I doubt it. Any ideas? Unless it fixes itself I may have to bring it in

Door scrape

I went to the bank drive-through this morning. My deposit slip flew out of my hand and when I opened the door to get it , the edge of the black plastic part of the door that frames the window hit the teller window. Now the black peice that frames the window has a 2" scratch right along the EDGE. It appears white ... almost as if some of the black coating was scratched off when I hit the door. You can only see it from a 45 degree angle, but still the car is new and I hate stuff like that. Any ideas on a fix? Thanks.

Almost everyone who answered my Dunlop tire question said, they were lousy tires even if they are OE tires for my upcoming 2010 EX35 AWD Journey, so I decided that I'm going to replace them !!!

But, I was told by one EX35 Forum member that the Michelin Primacy MXV4's were the best way to go !!!

But, I found out to day that these MXV4's are H-rated and "not" the speed rating of V-rated which is a higher rating !!!

So, now I don't know which is the best tire to buy for my wife's EX35 AWD Journey in all types of winter driving conditions !! So, do any of you EX35 Forum members have a better suggestion for the tire I'm looking for ?

Hello folks,

after 16 weeks of waiting I finally got my EX last tuesday. This is the track of my EX comin to me: Los Angeles - Balboa (Panama) - Anterpen - Rotterdam- Hamburg. It's alot of fun driving it, although there are a few things that are annoying. I've changed the unit to metric but the driven distance is still listed in miles, phone does not accept spoken area codes other than the us ones, fm radio can only be tuned to odd fractional frequencies.

Has anybody managed to set the clock that is shown on the display? I can choose between several Timezones of course Europe is not among them and that leads me to the next question. How can you update the nav software? I've had a look at navteq. They offer an europe map but on DVD. I have 2008 EX and I don't think that it will accept the DVD in the in-dash player?

How ever this was a short pleasure. Today I gave the car away for modification. It is going to get a headlight cleaning system, a rear fog lamp (mandatory for registration) and some small changes to other lightning parts.
One week and I will get my EX back

noise when making right turns in 2008 EX

When making right turns in my Ex I get a vibration through the steering wheel and a low rumbling sound. It feels almost exactly like making a turn in a 4 wheel drive pickup with the front hubs locked. It does not happen all the time and I've felt it with three different types of tires so it's not them. The dealer says its normal for this model but would look into it for me. it sure doesn't seem normal to me.

Expensive $46 light bulb

Be aware of high prices of parts from Nissan.
I went to Nissan dealer to get a replacment bulb for front parking light on my EX35.
They charged me $46 + taxes for one.
As I thought it was very expensive for standard H8 bulband I stoped on a way home at Canadian Tire store.
Thay had the same bulb in shelf for $16.
I promptly returned the $46 bulb back to the dealer complaining about the high price.
The parts man told me the Nissan is charging the dealer more than $16.

I like to consider myself an Infiniti enthusiast in addition to being a technician. I am in a position to see the new models, not the one off pre production models but the ones that are hot off the delivery truck. It is not that grand of a rollout as they arrive on our lot covered in tape and plastic. Getting to see some of the new technology items is one of those things the techies usually look forward to.

So my dealer received our first 2010 EX today. This was an interesting model, light silver in color with the 18" wheels used on the previous years. From the exterior there appears to be no visible differences. The interior appointments are still the same but the center stack looks a little more refined. One thing that immediately stuck out was the lack of a CF drive, and when looking into the Settings menu I was intrigued to find an option for software update? What are they planning? Did they realize the software coupon idea was not working well?

The only feature of note that warranted photographing was the updated user interface and options available from the center display screen and hvac controls. The radio default screen is very similar to Lexus and Acura now with colorful images of Satellites and station logos of the station when using XM. XM also adds weather report, actually very detailed and searchable weather reporting options. I was very impressed to see (when stopped) you could see a three day forecast for the DC metro area but also quickly access the weather at your destination point (if a destination is set into the Nav) or several other options are available with a search option. One of the things I am really happy to see is a removal of the iPod proprietary port, especially since this port did not work with the newest iPods. The replacement is a usb terminal which supports common audio sources and inputs. From some of the reading I have done about the options include Bluetooth streaming audio capabilities, which I use all the time with Pandora in my car and it is the best audio option in my opinion and if your cell phone plan includes a unlimited data, there is something about streaming audio from the internet while driving that makes the geeky little kid in my smile.

The new EX will also have the IonCluster system used in the G37 convertible and FX50. With that should come the Grapeseed Propylene odor reducing in cabin filter and some variation of the frontal emission sensor they are putting on new models. It seems that the options they have changed are not interchangable among other model years. The exception to that would be the Grapeseed micro filter. The electronic features are far to expensive in these cars to be rationally interchangeable. In order to get the smallest of change, say the screen design of one of the above pictures, you would have to replace the entire control unit. In the near future the interface will be adjustable through direct interface,I bet they will make an App for that.

How to Set Lights to Automatically turn off when door opens

Hi ... I had a QX4 before my EX and it had a great feature. If you had your headlights on, they would automatically go off when you turned off the car and opened the driver's door. Does anyone know if this is feasible on the EX and how to do it? Thank you!

Rear signal lights

2009 EX - After I picked up my new ex I noticed that the rear signal lights were not working, however I did have working brake lights. Anyways, I brought it to the dealer who apparently fixed the problem. Before I left the dealer i checked to make sure they were working and I saw that only the lights in the bumper flash and not the rear taillights. I asked the service guy and he said that's the way EX's are. Is that the normal signal operation for this vehicle. It seems kind of odd to me that only the bumper lights flash when signaling and nothing from the rear tail light clusters...can anybody confirm this?

Folks,

I apologize for bringing this up again but none of the earlier threads quite some up my issue.

I had a little fender bender and needed to replace the front bumper cover as well as the driver side parking sensor.

I just had the new sensor installed by my mechanic and we both cannot figure out why the sensor keeps throwing off false readings and beeping like crazy. I mean there is nothing around and the sensor goes off. Stop signs, etc. I thought maybe the entire system needed to reset itself now that it is complete but it has been a few hours.

Is there a reset or calibration sequence that needs to be done?

Hi, im new to the forum and am planning to buy an EX35 Journey. i wanted xenon headlights but i realized inorder to get factory hid, you have to get the premium pkg. i didn't want to pay more for things i didnt want. can i just have the bulbs replaced w/ xenons (factory, not aftermarket)? can the dealer do it for me at a low cost. does the replacement have to include the whole housing, or just the bulbs will do? will it affect the vehicles warranty in such case? hope someone here can enlighten me, thanks in advance.

I just put on new winter tires on new rims. The Tire pressure Monitor system light is now on. I take it this is normal as i did not put the special valves on the winter tires.

I checked this forum with no results.

Any way to turn this off while i have the winter tires on?

HID ouput height question

I have installed HID, but I noticed the light output height from each lenses on the wall are not same. Right side is lower than left side. I heard it should be like this in the picture. Right side is higher than left side. I am not sure if this is true for ex35. If you have the ex35 model that came with HID, please post your picture. Thank you.

Should I get Tail Light Tints

I am seeing a lot of cars on the street with tail light tints. i do think they look neat and its a cheap way to inprove the cars appearance. my only concern is will it affect the light output to the point that it would be unsafe? i mean i know there are different % tints but for the most part will it be harder for the guy behind me to see the brake light?
i am asking because i want to put on tail light tints but i would never put appearance over safety.
what tints should i get?

Entry/Exit Function And Seat Memory Not Working After Service

Got the steering rack, fuel pump, and steering motors replaced at the Dayton, Ohio dealer.

Now the entry/exit function (seats slide back and steering wheel raises) doesn't work, and the seat position memory does not work.

Reset it in the Comfort And Convenience settings (it was off) and activated it by pressing and holding the Set button on the door for 10 seconds with 2 blinks. Still doesn't work.

Tried activating the default factory settings in Comfort And Convenience, still no joy.

Any suggestions? Hidden disable function or button perhaps? The trip to the dealer is a 60 mile hike...

Luckily I have 1 free oil change but after looking at their maintenance prices I wish I had more. They are crazy.....$70 for an oil change!!!! $190 for their "7,500 mile maint." (which only includes an oil change and rotation of tires).......$950 for "30,000 mile maint." (differential fluid change, transmission fluid change) which I don't even see in our manuals that we need all this crap done at 30,000 miles!!!!

What really bothers me is that I had a Chevy Trailblazer for 3 years and in the manual it specifically said "change oil when oil indicator light comes on or once a year." I also see that BMW, VW, Mercedes, and some American companies all have free maintenance. I blame myself for not researching this before I got the car.....oh well, I only have 2.5 years left on my lease.

I am thinking about getting used 2008 EX35 with 6000 miles on it. The seller is a private dealership and they are telling me that car probably was never serviced. I see in carfax that it was purchased in Sept 2008.

do you think it may void the factory warranty?

I did call the local infiniti dealership and they told me I need to have maintenance records if it was serviced at third party or it was serviced at infiniti, they would know that...

Do you think 27k is a good price for it? (journey w/o options)

My Wife's EX is a little over 3 weeks old and she has done a great job of taking care of it and being mindful of where she parks. So, naturally, some nucklehead backed into her in the church parking lot. We lucked out in that in the lady has decent insurance and she hit it in the one spot where ther is just air behing the bumper (right below the headlight and right above the fog lamp on the driver's side). She was driving an Xterra with bumper guards, so the surface area that actually made contact with the EX was relatively small. It's not even remotely the worst I've ever seen, but it still sucks.

Anybody have advice on the EX front bumper? Should I push for it to be replaced or accept a fix? It seems to be a composite or plastic of some sort, so I don't really know what is a standard fix. Most of my body work knowledge is sheet metal.

Anyone with "Fender Bender" advice, feel free to chime in.

Crossbars and Fuel Efficiency

My new (less than a week old!) EX35 Journey came with crossbars. Since the chances of my actually affixing something to the roof bars is slim to none, I was thinking about removing them. They are bound to put more drag on the car. Does any one know whether removing them would have much of an effect on fuel efficiency? (Or looks for that matter.)

Snow tire recommendation for the EX?

I have almost no snow driving experience but now have the EX in Utah, commuting daily from Park City down to Salt Lake. First snow Sept 28. Get the picture?

Bose radio / stereo changing stations on it's own

Has anyone else heard of this before? Last week, the radio (Bose) in my EX35 started changing stations on it own. It will be tuned into a preset and then it will change to 87.7 from (non-preset) ... sometimes a moment later it will change back to the revious station ... other times I will have to hit the button. VERY odd. I have also started to notice that my bluetooth connection to my cell phone has been acting up as well (dropping and reconnecting mid-call ... where the phone's message is that the bluetooth signal is weak). Thinking I have a ghost in the machine and maybe need a new stereo unit? Has anyone else experienced this? Background: my EX35 AWD w/ Premium is about 15 months old and has about 27K miles on it now.

climate control doesn't turn OFF

Now that the temperatures are down into the 40's I've noticed that the heat is either on or off. At 61 degrees it blows outside cold air, at 62 it blows cook-your-chicken hot. No in between, so I turn off the climate control. It continues to blow hot or cold air - whichever it was on when I turned it off. Has anyone else noticed this or is this something I need to have the dealer check out. This is extremely annoying.

Another Bluetooth Gremlin

Lately, whenever I've received a call in the car while paired via Bluetooth, the "nag" screen (where you have to click OK before entering Nav functions, for example) flashes, then the expected phone screen where I can answer, etc, becomes visible.

After the call terminates, the "nag" screen remains. When I click on OK, the map actually shows up.

Anyone else encounter this?

For a '10 EX Journey AWD, with all the packages & a couple of accessories, the invoice price is 41K. Minus the 3K rebate from Infiniti for cash buy, I'm looking at 38K.

Just wonder what kinda profit the dealer make at this price? Since they priced my trade-in a few thousand less than projected, I hope get a little back from their profit.

I had my car in to fix some noises and was give an EX35 AWD loaner. Since they needed to keep my car over the weekend I ended up taking it on a 450 mile road trip. This is the first time I had spent any quality time in an EX35 AWD.

The difference in how both cars drive and feel is bigger than what I expected. Having driven an G35x in the past I was surprised at how much harder/heavier the steering effort is in the EX35 AWD compared to the 2WD.
The combination of the AWD weight, internal friction, and heavier steering makes the 2WD feels light and nimble. The AWD front drive system weight can be felt going over bumps. It almost feels like the shock valving has more bump or there is a difference in the spring rates for the AWD. The AWD automatic unlocks the torque converter more on the highway with minor increases in throttle or changes in slope. I was actually driving slower on this trip and using the cruise control much more than I usually do. The AWD averaged 20 MPG where my 2WD would get 22 MPG with heavier foot on the same roads.

So the moral of the story is if you live in a milder climate you should really test drive both versions. I think you will be surprised at the difference in how they feel. Some dealers don't like to stock 2WDs because they feel they are harder to sell. I hope Infiniti continues to offer a 2wd in the next generation EX. A sports package with a suspension tuned a little more towards handling combined with a real limited slip differential would keep me interested.

Noises fixed

I got my car back this morning and it appears they have fixed my two long term noises. Noise one was a vibration rattle in the left dash near the front left speaker. This was their 3rd try at fixing this and I think they got it. The fix was to "place insulating foam between cowl and windshield". I think this noise may be a common feature with G35s and EX35s. I had heard a similar noise in two loaner cars I have had in the past but it wasn't as bad as my car was.

The 2nd noise the tapping/popping sound in the passenger foot well area under load. They did the heater core flush and I think that solved the problem also. My car was one of the first batch of EXs to hit the US and fell within the VIN ranges for the service bulletin.

To celebrate I bought a dozen cookies for the service team that worked on my car and dropped them off at the service department. It is nice driving down the freeway and not hearing the dash buzzing.

Changing Volume on Blackberry while using Bluetooth Function

Hello Everyone!

I hope someone can help me with this issue. When I use my Blackberry Curve while in my EX35, I notice a limitation in the volume. I can change the volume via the controls in the car...no problem. What I want to change is the volume on the Blackberry...it seems to go to a default mid level and pushing the volume controls on the Blackberry do not increase or decrease it! I have been able to change it using a Bluetooth earpiece in the past...

I found there was a way of getting into the diagnostics to adjust bluetooth volume in the car. This only changes how loud the volume is through the car speakers when using the phone.

So...has anyone been able to change the volume on the Blackberry from the mid level while using Bluetooth in their EX35?

Will these fit on the EX35? I ask because they come with winter tires and its someithing i would be interested in. The bolt pattern and size are the same, what i am not sure of is the OFFSET +35? they come from an infiniti GS37S coupe

Ever had a look at your Spare Tire

My Wife's Tires on her Infiniti EX35 were starting to feather & cup and make noise, so I thought it was time to rotate them in a "X" fashion.

I couldn't find the Lock "Key"... so I went snooping around in the Spare-Tire Compartment.

I pulled the Spare-Tire out... it's a 17 Inch Alloy-Rim painted with Gloss-Black Paint and a Bridgestone Tire mounted.

I was impressed...

Re-installed in the Spare Tire Well...

BOSE Sub-Woofer re-installed...

No greasy looking, stamped out, rusty plain ol Rim for us !

License Plate Installation

I was notified my plates were in so went by the dealership for them to be installed. Unfortunately, I didn't check the front one and when I got home I noticed the mounting plate was crooked and not centered. It looked terrible.

Went back today and had a talk with the service manager, expressing my disappointment that "someone" wasn't paying attention to what they were doing or didn't care. My vehicle is less than two weeks old and although the license holder and plate have now been correctly installed, I know there are two holes in my front bumper that shouldn't be there.

Am I being unreasonable or too picky? What would you have done? I have ordered another accessory for the back bumper it has to be precisely centered to look right and now I'm not sure I want to take the chance they will screw this up too.

I've owned Honda's for 30+ years and little mistakes like this is what made me leave Honda and try another make/model. Now I wonder if it's the same with all dealers. Talk to me. Oh, forgot to add the window tint had to be redone too...

IPod adaptor does not charge IPOD

Anyone know if the Ipod adaptor is supposed to charge the IPOD mine does not? Every cheapo Ipod interface charges the IPOD while in use, I do not understand why my Infiniti adaptor does not charge. This seems wrong!

For all of those that speculated on the resale value of the EX35, all I can say is WOW! I purchase my 08 EX35 AWD Journey in May 2009, it was a base. I paid $27,500. I drove my car 3300 miles and 3 months later fell in love with the new option package of the 09's. I took the car to Carmax and they offered me $28,000 CASH. I then brought it to Infiniti and they gave me $29,000, yes $1,500 more than they charged me 3 months ago, they sold me my New 09 EX35 with Nav. for $7,500 off sticker.

I do not know how this works but the dealer sold my used EX in only 2 weeks??

All Weather Mat Colors

I am interested in buying a set of Infiniti All Weather Mats, My EX35's interior color is Stone, they offer Black, Gray and Beige for mat colors, what would be the best match for my car? I wish they used the same color for thier mats as they do thier interiors.
