300zx N/A coil oacks same as J30 coil packs

All ready searched and the term "Coil Packs" brings up no results in the j30 section. The j30 is a funny car using the 300zx n/a engine yet it uses an n62 MAF.So back on topic, Im pretty sure my coil pack finally died on me as my engine is now running on 5 cylinders. I pulled the spark plug out and it is wet with fuel and has nasty build up all over it from obviously driving on it with out combustion happening in the cylinder. Will the 300zx NA coil pack work on the j30 They look identical except for a few small body lines on the body above the rubber boot.

J30 Transmission Overhaul

well, not much to say. I never come on here a lot anyways. However, I recently blew all the internals of the transmission. pieces and pieces in the pan. Had it rebuilt for about 800 bucks. I like to favor the mechanics who work in the rough part of town, because they know everything and talk straight with you. best deals. It was more electrical work than all the other stuff like clutches etc...I must say, I just picked it up today and it drives like a dream!!!! its perfect! no common symptoms:hesitation 40-50mph: ELIMINATED!Surging under heavy acceleration: ELIMINATED!Park Neutral, reverse lights on: ELIMINATED!Hard 1-2 shift: ELIMINATED!Kbflip. don't mind. but I think you can get your J running again. I got to see a little but of your car. I was actually chasing you down Mason Rd./St Catherine's...ring a bell about a month ago. I was trying to pull up to you in the right but I missed you. I also want to thank driverdriver for all your help. I've never met you but, you must be one of the most disciplined drivers on the road.

Crashed J :(

Hey guys, i just figured i'd post this to say that I crashed my J .No, I wasen't doing anything stupid, or attempting to.Long story short... I was driving home late (3am) from work when someone decided to dart across the blvd (car chase) Hence I swerved the car to the right and was welcomed by a giant pot hole and a tree. The resultbroken a arm, break lines, control arms; basically everything that was holding the tire was ripped off, and the strut was bent, tired ruined and was hanging and facing sideways. I then side swiped the tree which took out my turn signal and ruined my fender.Well.. I didnt want to be bothered with the car afterwords.. I mean i was heartbroken; but realized the effort to put into it i could get another car.. So i sold the car to my uncle for 500; and hes in the process of fixing it right now.and I'm now the proud owner of a 2006 altima with 32,000 miles.I'll still come on here and help other J members cause you guys have definitely been a help and I wanna thank you all; and I must say... The people on the altima 6th gen forum SUCK compared to the people on this forum; no ethusisam what so ever. or replys. lol.. Well yeah.

Sunroof gasket replacement dillema

Sorry to start yet another sunroof post, but I'm stuck & need some advice. I am trying to replace my sunroof gasket using the information carlos provided in the following post:http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/160015I opened the roof half way, released the two clips, and pushed the felt liner back. Per the instructions in that post, it says I should be able to start closing the sunroof and felt will stay all the way back, allowing me to remove all 6 bolts from the lid. However, my felt liner catches on a second set of spring clips located about 1/2 way back on the lid! Therefore, when I go to close the roof, it grabs the liner about 1/2 way and keeps me from reaching the last 2 bolts. I have not been able to release these other clips as they are very tight & far back.Has anyone else run into this problem It sounds like a few people on here have used this method to replace their gasket without trouble.

Code 32/34 on a 1995 Infiniti J30

Any suggestions on main possible reasons for code 32 The EGR value is functioning correctly. I presume that the EGRC Solenoid needs to be replaced. Anyone had the same issues with their J30 I know that the code 34 is knock sensor which can be replaced easily. Should I get an OBD2 reading to actually pinpoint what the problem is Suggestion would be helpful. Thanks!

weird electical issues

I installed a new antenna power assembly today after my last one was broken by a mechanic trying to remove the mast (this all started when my girlfriend drove my car through a car wash with the antenna up). I've, unfortunately, run into many odd problems with other electrical systems since installing the new unit. There is a three wire connector that connects to the OEM assemby made of a black, a green/orange and a yellow/red wire. The black is ground. The yellow/red is 12 volts from radio and is powered when the radio is on. The green/orange looks like it comes directly from the battery based on the wiring diagrams. The antenna assembly I installed is the common one sold on ebay that others have mentioned on this forum. I matched up the wires on it with the ones from the car and spiced them together as is instructed with the manual that it came with. Now I have multiple electrical problems, even after I disconnect all the wiring done above.1. the bose unit is always off when the car is put in acc or on. (it should return to its previous state)2. every time the car is turned off, the stations programed into the radios memory are gone.3. the temperature control module is off every time the car is restarted (it should return to the state it was in prior to the car being turned off)4. my wireless remote to open and lock the car doors no longer works5. I can not open the trunk with the wireless remote. In addition, the new assembly did not work when it was all hooked up.I'm at a total loss as to why this happened and what to do next. There could be other things too, this is all I have noticed so far. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I've check all the fuses for the antenna and radio - all seem to be fine. What am I missing here

Fixable or replace I know where there are a couple M30s in a couple yards.Speedometer - same thing although it shows flashes more often. Probably go to a GPS rather than replace. It's been broke for 3 years and I've only been pulled over once for a warning.I been looking thru all the local junkyards for the upholstered back seat, Lumbar section only, BEIGE for a COUPE (no convertibles) no tears or dry rot. Let me know. I'm in Maryland.I'm thinking my exhaust is going or getting ready to. I got almost 150K on car. Is the cat a goner What's a good sounding muffler

Transmission Problem

I recently had a minor wreck to my 1995 J30t (85,000 miles) that damaged my front right headlight, bumper, and quater panel. The car is still driveable, but on my way to get it looked at the transmission wasn't shifting into OD on the highway. It would shift fine from 1st thru 3rd. I also noticed that my gear shifter wasnt working when I tried manaully downshifting into 2nd or 1st while driving around 20 mph. My car has never had any kind of transmission problems before I got into a wreck. Does anyone think the wreck had anything to do with my transmission acting up or is it just coincidence I was hoping the problem would be electrical or something minor. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

It would be nice if everyone starting a thread about a problem finished it

Quite a few threads I read start with someone posting about a problem they are having with their car, then various posters offer suggestions as to a fix, then the original poster may post that he tried this or that and still had the problem, and so on, and then the thread ends and we never find out what the final solution was or whether the poster just gave up and junked the car or just decided to live with the problem or what. It would be helpful to the readers if when a fix is finally found the poster posts it so others will know what worked and what didn't. And thanks to all the posters who were willing to share their knowledge and experiences with the rest of the forum.

It seems 300 zx parts are more ready availble and half the price, IE power stearing pump, water pump, alternator, etc. Are these the same How about a 5 speed tranny Also, I read a few posts that say the rear struts from a Maxima will fit. Can anyone varify this for sure Any advise for maximizing efficiency and performance Also the chip under the driver dash the "fail safe" does not work, someone bypassed it with a wire so that it will start. What other functions does this do I am also not getting power to the audio Any help would greatly be appreciated! I am new here to this club!!! Yea! Lance

A couple of J30 keyless entry questions

Whats up guys this is my first time posting a topic here. But from what I can tell you guy are far nicer than the Q guys (Me included ). But the questions: 1. When you press the unlock button ONCE on the remote does the drivers door open only 2. How far does the keyless remote really work, because what it says on paper is sometimes never really true. 3. How hard is it to remove the door lock timer and keyless entry control unit I had more questions but I already answered them. I ask these questions because I own a 1993 Q45 and it has no keyless entry. So I was looking in the Infiniti Parts forum and I looked some guy J30 that he was parting out. And I thought to my self the 1993-1997 J30 has keyless entry but NO BCM*....DING DING DING, JACKPOT. And ever since then I have been studying the wiring diagrams for the anti-theft and Multi-Remote Control Unit. Needless to say that a 1992-1993 Q45 can have keyless entry from a J30. I bet some of you are saying why would you want it. The reason is because some people who own a car take it or parts of it for granted. And: 1. I want to keep my car as OEM as possible because I hate aftermarket stuff. 2. I want to keep the costs low, but really that's just the perk of #1 above...Only in this case though. 3. I want to have video, pictures and wiring diagrams and what ever else I can make should there be a problem with this system in the future. Now the boys in the Q45 forum one especially tries to find all the faults in my idea's, You know who you are. And I originally though of disbanding from NICO because of this one ***hole. But I come to realize after many hours of reviewing wiring diagrams that its not worth leaving because of one guy. So I can go back and rub this in there face. So in the end my Q will be like America in that it will have modifications (People) from all different sorts of cars (nationalities). *BCM=Body Control ModuleJ30 guys ROCK!!!

Running lights / side markers and tail lights will not go out - must pull fuse

It happened incrementally. Phase I: One day a few weeks ago when I parked my car lights both the dash and running lights remained on when I opened up the door and after lifting the outside door handle - but they would turn off after about 10 seconds. Mildly annoying, but at least I could drive the car. Additionally, lost overhead light and the key fob would unlock the doors, open the trunk, but would not open the doorsPhase II: about two weeks after dealing with phase I - NOW running lights (tail lights and side markers) remain on unless I pull the tail light fuse. still dealing with the overhead light not working and key fob will not opening the doors. I took the car a '96 J30T to the local shop for diagnostics as now I have a safety issue. The mechanic felt the first problem was due to a short in the turn signal/light switch on my steering column. They wanted to replace it for $400. I took the car home, went by the pick and pull, bought two levers/switches and installed both separately which resulted in no change to existing problem. Thankfully I took the car home or I would have been out $400 instead of the $80 I spent on the diagnostic and used switches. Any suggestions on a possible fix

Buying another J

I had a question about buying a car that's had a crucial component replaced. Should I be wary about a J30 that's had it's engine replaced I'm looking at another J to buy and found one that says its engine has been replaced and has 45,000 miles on it and the car itself has around 190,000. Is this usually a sign that other parts will follow behind

J30 idling rough

Long time no talk to NICO peeps! I still have my J and need some advice/tips. Recently my car started idling rough about a week ago and am trying to figure out what the problem may be. I've since changed all 6 spark plugs, which seemed to help a little, but not entirely. I've read that the coil packs may need to be swapped, and that I may need to change my fuel injectors. I have about 98k miles on the car, if that makes a difference. Considering that I doubt I have the tools, let alone the know how to change the injectors, should I invest in replacing the coil packs, or just take my car to a mechanic

Poor acceleration

A year ago, ,my wife complained that the car could not get out of its' shadow. It had 100000 miles and I decided to change the timing belt. It did not help. Last week, I had to do the water pump, and while there confirmed timing belt by counting teeth. All is well. Yet, the car has slow acceleration from a dead stop. If you are running along at say 40 mph and mash the pedal into "kickdown" mode she takes right off. But not from a dead stop. It seams to want to think about it.Any ideasRegards to all,Bill1997 J30T

power door locks

Okay ,. I have an update to my J30T Drivers Side Door Stuck Locked Shut Problem. I had tried the method of putting the key in from the outside with the window down and unlatching the lock manually but it wouldnt break free. If you listen really close, as you try it , there is the sound of some relay clicking from where sounds like under the steering wheel as its close to the unlock position. Im puzzled now because I figured if it would open with that method it would be at least diagnosed. But its still locked. The key and manual unlocking method wont work .. Any one got anything else I am just assuming that where I am hearing the clicking that it could be the Door Lock timer that I had read about . Still Not Certain.. Anybody, Any opinions.. Any help is appreciated hahah Cold New England Winters Coming up Lol Thanks

radiator fluid leak

Hello, while I was waiting to pickup my mother-in-law...I was parked, idling, with the air on. When I finally departed...I noticed a SMALL amount of radiator fluid on the ground. I immediately shut the air off and drove directly home. The temp gauge never rose above normal. No abnormal smells, no steam, no nothing bad. When I inspected the engine at home....I noticed trace amounts of radiator fluid expelling from what appears to be the upper rad. hose housing. The point where the hose mounts into the front of the engine block, at this point...I could detect the signature smell associated with over heating. The temp gauge still remained very normal, (basically cause I never allowed things to get too hot ), This is nothing like cars of yester year lol I would prefer to hear it from you all prior to spending BIG BUCKS at my local INFIN DEALER ..ANY and ALL help will be greatly appreciated. Till then.... Oh, it's a '94 PRISTINE 2nd owner J30 with 164k. thanks !!

Is there a way to find them Can anyone from Columbus OH area give me a lead Should I go and ask if they can diagnose the problem.I have had troublesome experience with changing the timing belt. I think the problem is that J30 was not there for a long time in the market. First I called the NISSAN dealership (No Infiniti dealership in 200 miles), they said they dont think there is a timing belt at all. After I moved to Ohio, I called the dealership, the first person was not sure if there was a timing belt, after I told him I am pretty sure there is, he talked to some other person and said yeah there is. But asked for $1200. That seemed to much so I looked around. In this forum, in some thread there was a mention that it would take around $600. I found a mechanic who seemed to work on imported models and asked for $600. However, after the repair the car wont got beyond 25 mph. I had to take a few times the car back because 1st time, he forgot to reconnect the airflow () pipes, and said that was the problem. The 2nd time after arguments the manager acknowledged the problem the belt was off by 1 tooth. But after 2000 miles driving the problem started again.

My ecu gave me a code 21. Where do I locate the Ignition Signal circuit :Werd

Hey everyone, I still have yet to get my car started. I still have a problem with the security going off like Bon Qui Qui at King Burger. I unplugged the Head light circuit under the steering wheel as to avoid the battery drain. Now I am trying o start it but it won't turn over. I pulled the codes from the ecu and it gave me a 21 this time. I think my ecu was a magic 8ball in its past life I almost want to shake it and see what it give me next. With that all said could some- one tell me where the ISC is I can't find it in the manual. I checked the index and the EL pdf pages. Thanks

My friend sold me his 1991 Q45 last night for 200 bux! Its the pearl white with 150k on the clock. She needs a new fuel pump and control unit, but other than that the only prob I am aware of is some small cosmetic stuff. So, now my only prob is what 2 do. I think I might give one of my Infinitis to my sister, depending on how much I like the Q. Do I keep my 93 J30 w/ 202k, or the 91Q w 150k I am unsure if the chainstays in the q have been done, and I dont have pics yet, prolly be a few days. Let me know what u guys think. If you're feeling froggy, shoot me an offer on either car, I really dont need four vehicles. Thxs, Nico is Nice.

Timing Belt Problem :confused

Few months back I changed the timing belt. At that time I had huge problems. It turned out that the mechanic did not to the job properly, but the real problem was he was denying that there is a problem. After the change at times the car would struggle to go beyond 25 mph. Say you are going in 45 mph, suddenly you will feel a slack in the engine, the acceleration would not work. After struggling it would eventually go up to 60mph. Going back, the mechanic did not want to acknowledge there was a problem saying he test drove and found no problem. After some argument and going a few times the owner who is also a mechanic intervened and fixed it saying the belt was off by a tooth. Recently while I was driving I faced the similar situation. The slack and the car does not want to accelerate. It is not as bad as before but definitely it is off. What should I do Is this a problem that can be fixed easily Do I need to change the timing belt again. Is it something to do with the torque, timing, tension Please help ! Also anyone knows a good mechanics in Columbus OH who can solve this problem. Till to date I regret for not taking it to the dealership.

J30(t) Suspension and other gremlins

Hello i am new to this board. i was wondering if anyone knew any aftermarket strusts/shock absorbers for a 1995 j30t. also the A/c wont work because of a part called a fan speed resistor(according to our nissan dealer). other gremlins include the horn and alarm honking as soon as the battery is put on and the trunk not closing9i think that is due to a blown fuse). I would like some help in sourcing some front shock absorbers and a fan speed resistor. alos i would like to know if the eletrical gremlins is due to a blown fuse..thank for the help in advance

Installing new stereo in 1993-J30

This J30 belongs to my wife and she wanted to have MP3 capability + iPod.So, I decided to replace BOSE stereo. We repaired it few years ago for ridiculous amount of money (I should have replaced it that time, but I was told horror stories about using after market stereos with Bose amplifiers. I didn't check it the Internet that time). How it was before. All pics were made by my phone, so quality is so-soHere is what you need:1) New stereo. I went to BestBuy and bought Sony something, which has iPod support and USB capability (as later we found it can play music files from memory card, so you don't really need iPod-like device). Pretty much any size stereo will fit. I used DIN size stereo + dash kit. If you're going to use double din, when you don't need dash kit.2) Local WalMart: a) scosche 71-1763 - Nissan wire-harness kit. Make sure to use yellow-white plugs (it has black-white as well) and follow color codes from the insert b) scosche adapter. I ordered mine from the Internet. Found later that local Walmart has newer model cheaper. c) Nissan dash kit. Don't worry about J30. You won't find it in the catalog - everywhere it's said "doesn't fit". Just get one, which said Nissan Altima 1993 d) set of crimp connectors. Or wire-nuts. Or whatever you want to use. e) antenna adapter - scosche 40-NI103) Online manual - how to remove radio. You can find it on this forum or in other places. 4) I checked color codes here (just in case) - http://www.modifiedlife.com/19...agram/. Never thought Infinity has the completely different set of colorsProcedure:1) Take off old radio. 2) Assemble the harness using Nissan adapter (yellow-white plugs are used), scosche adapter, and plug, which came with your new stereo3) Mount radio and the pocket from dash kit on brackets. Mine fits perfectly. Front panel from Sony radio is removed on picture. I didn't remove AC controls.4) Attach all wires and adjust scosche adapter according to its manual. Do it before you install everything back, obviously. There is enough room behind radio to hide whatever you want, so don't worry about adapter.Check left/right/front/rear speakers to make sure everything is connected properly.5) Now the most difficult part. Installing a trim. As I found opening in brown panel is too small for "standard trim". I had to use file to remove about 1/8" from each side of trim. And I wasn't able to install Sony trim around the stereo. Can't glue it, since it will interfere with faceplate. Ideally, it would be nice to remove extra material from Infinity wood panel, but for obvious reasons I didn't want to do it. It me few tries to make trim around the pocket fits properly6) Put everything back. Since I wasn't able to put sony trim around the stereo, there was a small opening between stereo and pocket trim. For now I closed it with flexible black tubing. Look very nice. Will figure out later something elseSound quality is much better than it was with original Bose. Plus all fancy stuff with equalizers, bass-boost, etc. My 4 Gb memory stick works perfect with USB. Extra pocket - more room to keep junk handy. Everybody is happy Total cost:1) Stereo - $120 (can be more expensive, can be less expensive)2) Adapters, etc - $453) Time - 2.5 hrs. Took me an hours to remove extra material from the plastic front coverDefinitely cheaper than I spent last time to fix the broken BOSE. If you don't want to install it yourself, then my local Bestbuy told me that they will install it with extra scosche adapter and anything else I bring to them. Hope this info will be helpful.

I know my dash is supposed to light up briefly when the car first turns on. However I noticed a number of lights briefly lit up for just a couple seconds while I was driving. Is this telling me I'm about to have electrical problems The lights that let up were all red (I think) -- it was brake, seatbelt, and one other light but I don't know which one because it was too fast.My car is a 1995 J30t.Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!

Good afternoon. I am having trouble starting my 94' J30 T. I recently started driving a Van Pool to work so my J30 sits for week at a time. It was recently low on gas (almost on empty) and it sat for about a week. I added about a gallon of gas. (I thought that might help), then I tried to start, after a few tries it turns over, and then after literally a second it sputters out. When I try it again, it will not even turn over. Does it have something to do with the fuel injection Any thoughts. I am stuck here. Please help. Thanks.

so about a month ago we were leaving the hospital at night and i noticed some of my dash lights came on. specifically my brake, battery, light lights all came on at once. brand new red top optima, full brake fluid and no lights out. i thought about it for a day and came to the conclusion that it was the alternator. well, it was, three days later it stopped charging altogether and the car died. i put in a reman. nissan/bosch alternator and the car ran like a dream again. the lights are coming on again!!! different this time though. last time they came on when i stepped on the brakes, which makes sense. now the come on when i step on the gas and all of my lights flicker. dash lights, brake lights, interior lights, headlights, all of them. also, when the alt was new, or before the oem one broke, it would read 14.4 at idle. of course that went down when the old alt died. the new one used to read 14.4 at idle, now reads 13.8-13.9 but goes to 14.7 with revs. please help as i dont want to get stranded if it is the alt again.

J30 Alarm problem

Hi,My j30t is currently experiencing a big problem. Often, my remote will not work. The remote doesn't seem to be the issue, as i've replaced the battery and it makes the beep whenever i press a function. Nonetheless, my car often doesn't respond to the remote and i am forced open manually and start the car. This is not an issue, but when in this situation, i let someone into my car before i start it, the car's alarm will go off, and the engine won't start. When the alarm finally does stop, i often have to wait several minutes before i can start the engine again. Until last night, and over 12 hours later, it seems my car still won't start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Koree
