Sale or Not to Sale

I have A 1991 White Q45 with 150 something K miles on it but it needs some work. 2 fuel injectors P/S Leak may just one of the hoses And exhaust leak at one of the gaskets. but on the highway she moves and rides real nice. The last trip was to MGM Grand Foxwoods over an 1 1/2 hours away from the house. But I just got a new toy so it maybe time for the Q to go. What do you all think is it worth fixing or sale to someone needs parts

91 Q45 electrical dropout

Here's a fun one - My Q has worked fine up until recently - it's been intermittently dying and then hard starting. What happens is the engine will stall, then be very difficult to restart. When it restarts, it is in fail safe mode (3k limit, engine light on).At first I though MAF or something common like that. But some further playing around (and after a new MAF) revealed that when it dies, the running lights shut off. And they will remain off when it is difficult to start. The alarm system also stops functioning. You can turn on the main beams, and the starter will crank just fine, it just doesn't seem to get any spark/fuel. When the engine stalls, the computer throws a "Low Battery Charge" warning, even though the battery is strong and has lots of cranking power. So I'm looking for an electrical culprit but I have no clue how to proceed. Obviously it's something in the system that controls the running lights and alarm system (probably the ignition as well) but independent of the starter and main beams. The relays and fuses look fine, and a burnt fuse link wouldn't cause an intermittent problem.Ideas There is no rhyme or reason to the dropout. It happens when cold, hot, at rest, driving down the road, pretty much totally random.

NEW BATTERY, NO POWER TO MOST ANYTHING, CH #2!

OK, Heath, this is mostly in response to your thoughts. Finally got a bit of sun down here on the coast so I backed the Q out of the garage where I could see better, noticing right away that one of the faults was no power steering assist!Checked all fuses and could find no faults there. Then, per your instructions, started making a list of what worked/did not work. The operational/"worked" list is the shortest, so here goes: flashers, head lamps, interior lights, dash lights Iexcept warning panel in lower right of pod and trip mileage in lower left of pod), door open bell, fuel gauge, clock, visior vanity lights, forward map lights, and glove box light. Now, this is where it gets strange! After making the list, I blipped the throttle before putting it back in the garage. Amazingly, everything began working! Everything (that is, except the radio, and I think I may have moved the fuse on that issue!). I attributed this astonishing fix to the fact that the car had been sitting for over 4 months, and the car Gods are still alive and well!Well, I decided to take it for a spin, staying on some back roads near here and, as Alan Greenspan would say, drove with "irrational exuberance"! Stayed in lower gears most of the time, with revs up. Got into a bit of a tussle with a new Camry and, as I was gearing down to 2nd, the engine raced a couple of times and...it seemed ....as if the ABS kicked in!!!Anyway, she settled down and I came back home to put her in the garage and, turned it off to see what would happen and, lo and behold, all the electronics again died except those mentioned above! Started her a couple of times and revved engine and, at about 2500/3000 rpm, I would hear click in the dash and all the AWOL electronics would begin working again! And, would continue working until ignition was switched off and, then DOA once again! So, Heath (and any other old Q gurus here!), please weigh in if you have any thoughts! Thanks in advance!JohnCarolina Low CountryBTW, for grins in that I had a guy recently lust over the M30 convertible, I thought I would let him buy my Infiniti collection and I would regain my sanity! Anyway, checked with KBB and, for a 92 Q in excellent condition showing 137K miles, the "private party" value is....sit down, please....$985!!!!! KBB "retail" is $2,460! Or, in the words of a now exited SECDEF, "for goodness sake"!

[PLEASE HELP] my 97 Q45 won't start.. from a car newb..

Hi all,I have been desparately looking for an answer to my problem but I have no idea what to look for mainly because I know NOTHING about cars.. (yeah maybe just tiny bit since I am still a guy.)Anyway, I have 97 Q45t with 170,000 miles on it. One day I started the car and it didn't start (it worked just fine the day before). To be more precise, the car "tries" to start as it makes that starting noise but the engine doesn't get started.. It seems to me that battery is working fine but something that delivers the power from the battery to engine is not working.. (that was my logic)I really don't wanna spend hundreds of dollars with towing and repair costs since I will be using the car only for next 6 month or so...So could anyone help me please

1999 Q45t Cruise problem after heavy rain.

I searched for this and found 1 post that was unanswered that described my problem exactly.Just after a heavy rain storm all of the sudden I experienced the trac light, suspension light, CEL, and ABS light all flashing intermittently. I lost all ability to accelerate and had to pull off the highway. After doing the cursory look under the hood i decided to get under way again. No Problems for 65 miles then the same thing.I had been using the cruise so decided to eliminate that as an issue and made the next 300 miles of the trip without incident.Any ideas

Help With Tire Size

I have a 1994 Q45. About 2 years ago I got 4 i30 17 in rims from a guy with bridgestone tires on them with about 90% tread left. The tire size is 215/55/R17. Before those I had the standard BBS rims on it and had a incident where my rear driver's side tired blew out while I was going 75mps on the highway and I lost control of my car and spun out. Needless to say I dont want that to ever happen again lol. Two of my tires have gone bad and now I need to just replace all of them. What size tires should I get the same size that came on the rims or maybe a size that will better handle my Q since those tires were originally intended to be on an i30 Also, where is the best place to purchase them I dont know much about tires and will be grateful for whatever help you guys offer. Thanks!

What oil is best for the 91 q

So my brother just recently purchased a 1991 q45(1qikq45, I believe his user name is). Its his third q in the past few years. When we bought the car we found three quarts of Valvoline conventional 10w40 and a penzoil filter (still in the box) in the trunk. The oil in the engine is a dark brown, but not completely black yet, so it has about 1000more miles left before she needs to be changed. So my question is: Is the Valvoline 10w40 ok to run in these cars I know I have to run a synthetic blend before I go full synthetic. But what oil would be best. In his other q45 he liked to run that Q oil. Should we do that What oil makes the car last longer Speaking of oil, we havent checked the tranny oil yet. What brand should we use these cars are starting to grow on me, so I get to do the work in my auto class!

Help Testing Dash Component backlighting prior to Re-assembly

I am in the final stages of my lighting install on my 91 q45. I have the dash, gauge cluster, and all other components taken out. I would like to make sure that all of my new lighting works properly before re-assembling the dash. Tonight I connected the hvac controls, turned the car on, turned on the headlights, and turned on the hvac system. with the lights off the screen appeared normal. When I turned the lights on the display disappeared and no backlighting turned on. At the same time I had the clock connected. I have tested the clock backlighting with a 12 volt battery so I know it works on its own. When connected to the wiring harness at the same time as the hvac controls neither of them functioned properly. Could someone who has already gone through the lighting install provide some steps for the install and troubleshooting.all help is appreciated. shane

02 Q45 HID Ballast Question - Suggestions Please

My 02 Q45 has been having issues with the passenger low beam HID light not working. At first it would flicker. Now it just doesn't turn on unless I am driving for more than 10-15 minutes. The longer I drive the car if I turn the headlights on and off while waiting a few seconds before turning them on again the passenger light will fire up occasionally. Sometimes like tonight it stays on for an entire trip (30 minutes after lighting) other times it will die again after staying on for a minute or two. I have checked all the fuses and they are working fine. I tried replacing the bulb and that didn't do anything. I now have a new bulb in the driver side and the fully functioning bulb from the driver side in the passenger side. The passenger side HID light does not have the aluminum jacket surrounding the connector that hooks on to the back of the bulb while the driver side does. Could that make a difference Based on these symptoms is it the ballast that needs to be replaced or could it be something else Is there some simple test or tests I can run to definitively determine the issue It just seems quite odd to me that the light works once the car has been running for a while but never when the car is just started up. Could it be the amount of current getting to the lightPlease let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Supercharged VK45 update

I spent the entire summer season riding my Yamaha R1 and put the supercharger project on the side. Now that the season is over and my bike is stored, I have started back on my project. As most of the members here remember, I started off with the Keuylian supercharger kit using the Autorotor 1.7LThis is my current lineup. On the far right is the original 1.7L, the next one is the 2.2L that was to replace it. I acquired a 2.6L over the summer, which is the current "Big Bore" Kenne Bell designed and manufactured unit. The last one beside the manifold is the Whipple 3.3L made by Lysholm. The 1.7 and the 2.2 use the same discharge and inlet flange , while the 2.6L requires the intake manifold to be either modified with a larger discharge flange or an adapter plate. The 3.3L Whipple requires both a new inlet manifold and either intake manifold modification or adapter plate. It is taller and longer, which now requires consideration whether there is enough room under the stock hood as well as the distance to the firewall. The Whipple flows nearly twice as much as the original 1.7.I still need to order the main bearings and assemble the motor, as well as get the transmission rebuilt. [IMG][/IMG]

Funky Chicken...er....vibration

Genamins, You regulars (and you irregulars) will recall that I recently jumped in the Y33 wheel bearing post due to a slight vibration in the seat of me britches and the steering wheel. I think my car has a slightly different ailment. What I was able to determine today (through some fairly sporty and aggressive driving) is that the vibration is MOST prevalent during acceleration / load at speeds above about 77mph. If I stomp on it pretty good at that speed I can feel it, and if I lift off the pedal it almost disappears. Now, that's not to say that I don't also have wheel issues, but this makes me think either drive shaft or rear trans mount. What says youI am unable to bring up anything using the search function vis a vis the tranny mount, although I do recall it as being somewhat prone to failure and a cause for vibrations. I will peruse the FSM and try and get my learn on with regard to this mofo.My queries to the great Qmasses are.....Am I smokin' crack thinking it might be the trans mount Is that mofo relatively easy to replaceI read so many horror stories (here) regarding replacement drive shafts never being right that I want to avoid that item. Plus, that sumb**** is expensive! When it falls out I'll junk the car.And ahh let's see.....I have never replaced, greased, torqued, tweaked, fondled, lubed, stroked or manipulated the trans mount. Ditto for the drive shaft. There's the detailed maintenance history.Flame away.

NEW BATTERY, NO POWER NOW TO ANYTHING!

Greetings to all, and, yes, a long time since here! Out of the country doing "fun" things, following orders!Anyway, returned to where the M30 and Q45 had been stored in my climate controlled garage, both on a trickle charger. M started immediately and was taken post haste to be serviced. Q would not start, even though Interestate Magna battery was less than a year old! Would not take a charge, and service guy said battery shot, and replaced it with new Interstate at no charge. Installed battery, and car started immediately and settled down to smooth idle. BUT.....I am getting no power to anything! ANYTHING! Seems as if a breaker switch has been thrown some where! Tried the "SEARCH" feature here, but no luck on my issue. My workshgop/service manual is somewhere, but I must do a search mission for it! Thought I would ask the Q gurus here before I tried anything else! While M was being serviced, it caught the eye of another Infiniti type who asked the manager if it was for sale! He was told that I would be facing divorce and alimony if I sold HER car!My Q (pearl over tan) is the one Dennis (aka Q45 tech) found to be "one of the best examples of an early Q" when I took it over to T-3 for guides, etc, back in 2000! It still is one fine auto!In advance, thanks for your help!

Thought I would ask the Q gurus here before I tried anything else!
While M was being serviced, it caught the eye of another Infiniti type who asked the manager if it was for sale! He was told that I would be facing divorce and alimony if I sold HER car!
My Q (pearl over tan) is the one Dennis (aka Q45 tech) found to be "one of the best examples of an early Q" when I took it over to T-3 for guides, etc, back in 2000! It still is one fine auto!
In advance, thanks for your help!

I have had a rubber type squeaking for a few weeks now which I have determined is the left rear sub frame mount. A friend has a lift and we used a pry bar to isolate. From reading posts on the prior generation Q45 1990 - 1996 it seems as if the sub frame has to be removed to fix this. Is this also the case with the Y33 model that I have

Engine Vibration Issue...help please!

Hey guys, So I am running into an engine vibration issue and need your thoughts on to what it may be. I have been racking my brains and searching but havent found anything that is exactly the same as my issue.I really have two issues:-Rough idle-At speed roughnessI have already cleaned my MAF and have recently run injector cleaner, engine flush, new oil, and K&N cone filter. This reduced the idle roughness, I would say it reduced ~50%. However at lights I still idle like I have aggressive cams, very lumpy. Once moving, it happens again but only in a small RPM range. At speeds around 40-50, when cruising, I will give it light throttle, between 1/8-1/4 throttle, around 1800-2000rpms it will vibrate again. Now this is a more of light shaking than a actual vibration. Once I get it above 2000rpms it goes away and is fine.I still have yet to clean the Idle Air Control Valve, but before I did, I wanted to get opinions on what the issue may be, so I can tackle it with some direction.I read somewhere that our crank pullies are adjustable with weights to perfect the balance, maybe i lost a weight There is some lateral movement with my fan clutch(the blades/fan assembly) could it possibly be this I really am at a loss.... Please, someone give me some direction.

Help!!!! with wheel part...I'm a newbie!!

I have a 1991 Q45. I am a female who knows very little technically about cars so please bear with me as I try to explain my problem. While driving yesterday I noticed this horrible feeling in the rear like I had lost control and were on a big sheet of ice. The weather is NO where near freezing however the ground was slightly damp so I knew something was terribly wrong. Once I was able to get off the road I looked at the rear passenger side tire and it looked very crooked. I thought it was coming loose which has happened a long time ago but all the nuts were on tight. A closer look underneath revealed some kind of bar or brace that connects the tire to the underside of the car. This brace was completely broken in half causing the tire to wobble freely. Does anyone know the technical name for this part. It looks fairly simple to replace since it is only held on by two nuts, one in either end. I am trying to get an idea of how much this part will cost but I have no idea what it's called. I took a picture of it hopefully I can load it here. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
"POSSIBLE" 2002-2006 Q45 excessive oil consumption fix

Quote, originally posted by http://en.wakopedia.org/wiki/Nissan_VK_engine Warning to all those who own this engine** All VK45de engine consume oil. The PCV-positive crank case ventilation passages in the valve covers are not designed correctly and flow too much, thus allowing large amounts of oil into the intake system. This will cause puffs of blue and white smoke after cold starts! In lack of attention this condition will cause low oil level, which in turn results in worn cylinder rings causing excessive blow-by gases. The engine will eventually develop low compression in the rear most cylinders first. To easily confirm this condition- remove the intake duct from the throttle chamber and open the throttle flap manually. Large amounts of oil residue will be seen, as well as oil pooling in the back of the intake manifold plenum... Nissan and Infiniti are not stepping up to the plate although this is a know issue. They are putting the blame on the customers lack of service. Record all service data and present your case to a dealer. Under proper service the engine will be replace under full warranty it the vehicle is within the time and mileage limit...I had to correct a fair amount of spelling errors but does the above apply and help any F50 Q45 owners"Please delete this if it does."Please delete this topic if this in no way helps.

Service department at the dealer says I need new front tension rods for my 1999 Q45T, but I do not want to pay $300 for the parts from the dealer. I have searched the internet for these everywhere and can not find anything. Is it possible that they go by some other name I would prefer to replace the part and not just the bushings. Does anyone have a site suggestion Thanks!

Recently I had someone change my spark plugs in my garage. Bad idea. Ever since, if my Q45T is driven more than 5 miles it idles rough and then rougher and doesn't want to go unless I force it. The warmer the engine gets the worse it gets and the engine will smoke, but the temp is ok. When the plugs were changed, I had bad valve cover gaskets, but they were not changed until a week later. They are not leaking now, but it is still acting horrible. Do you think the delay caused a problem Can it be fixed Or could it be something elsePS Ive been bad and have been not using premium gas for a while.

So, i have been patiently waiting. Searching everywhere for another Q, since my old one got Boned (t-Boned ) Tho she sits in my driveway, under a tarp, with everything there, and 99%complete. I could even get it back on the road, but it would be salvaged cuz of the inner-structure damage, So i didnt. But its has PERFECT tan interior.Anyways, back to my story.I came across this beauty on craigslist for 900. Called the guy up, spent some time BS-ing with him, decided what-the-hell, and went to look at it. Its a 1991 Q45, Clean title170,xxxBurgandyNon TCSWith HICASTHE GOODS;-Eibach Springs (only about 4 months drive time on them)-Tokico Blues (only about 4 months drive time on them) -06 G35 Rim's with new Goodyear rubber-Ebay Drilled rotors with ceramic padsTHE BADS;-It didnt run, and he couldnt figure out why. Wouldnt run on its own power, but it ran on ether.-Interior was Black/white combo, and the driver seat was shot to hell.-Non of the electronics in the driver seat worked eather.-The power antenna was broken off-The Climate control didnt work-Both side brake lights didnt work, but the 3rd on the spoiler did. -Dented passenger fender-a HOLE in the hood!!! (the size of a dime)-General Clear coat pealing everywhere. Now he was asking 900 to start of with, but then i peeped into his garage and saw he had a bodydropped toyota half torn apart!! I was like "HEY! You need some parts for that" And he was like "HEY! Hell yes I do!" And i said "So you wanna trade" He said "SURE" And then i did a little dance!!!!!
Third link / knuckle arm

I'm looking for some help regarding a recent purchase and my probable confusion. In the threads I've read, there are mentions of a third link that include bearings and the kingpin. I thought I had correctly tied this to it being the knuckle arm (54590- and 54591-66U26), but apparently not.I just received the knuckle arms and there are no kingpins. Not a problem, I just want to be sure that this was my error and not the supplier. Can I now simply purchase the kingpin (40022-60U05), and do I need anything else such as the seal rings (40290-33P00 and 40579-33P01) Although, the latter part# appears to be in the arm already. Does the kingpin simply fit into both the knuckle arm and knuckle assy (40010 and 40011 for the knuckle assy's)...is there anything else I may need to know to properly install thisFortunately, I have new motor mounts, lower control arms and tension rod bearings to keep me busy for now....Thanks in advance,Steve

I'm looking for some help regarding a recent purchase and my probable confusion.
In the threads I've read, there are mentions of a third link that include bearings and the kingpin. I thought I had correctly tied this to it being the knuckle arm (54590- and 54591-66U26), but apparently not.
I just received the knuckle arms and there are no kingpins. Not a problem, I just want to be sure that this was my error and not the supplier.
Can I now simply purchase the kingpin (40022-60U05), and do I need anything else such as the seal rings (40290-33P00 and 40579-33P01)? Although, the latter part# appears to be in the arm already. Does the kingpin simply fit into both the knuckle arm and knuckle assy (40010 and 40011 for the knuckle assy's)...is there anything else I may need to know to properly install this?
Fortunately, I have new motor mounts, lower control arms and tension rod bearings to keep me busy for now....
Thanks in advance,
Steve

*URGENT* My 98 Q @ Dealership now, I need repair advice ASAP!! (THX)

Hello Everyone, it's been a verrrry long time since i've logged in (a year or so) & i wish i wasdoing so w/o a "crisis", but i really need the wisdom & advice from you good people..So- my 1998 q45 (82,000 miles) is currently sitting @ Pepe Infiniti, awaiting my approval (or otherwise!!) for service that will cost me over $3200.00 (!), money that i simply do not have.*A month ago, my Q began to feel "weak" while accelerating/losing power periodically and alsobegan to have an audible exhaust note- especially at idle, sounding like the exhaust is cracked someplace.. Next the "service engine soon" light came on, & has stayed on..*This is what Infiniti says i need replaced and (ballpark) what they want to charge me for the repairs:1) Knock sensors & harnesses- $650.00 + 8 hours labor2) Bank 1 rear oxygen sensor- $230.00 + 1 hour labor3) Right side cat tube (rusted & leaking apparently)- $1300.00 + 2 hours laborSo, with the labor per hour it's over $3000.00+ *Next, my friend who is a classic car collector gave me the name/# of a mechanic he uses, and while the guy couldn't give me a complete estimate w/o seeing the car, he did tell me that he could "likely" do the repairs for about $1000.00 less (!) -I would have to figure out how to get to and from work etc. each day w/o a car though, and the work could take 5 daysAlso (sorry guys!), I have been using a loaner from Infiniti (09 g37x) for 4 days already, as they took a long time to diagnose/look at my Q; it is going to be damn awkward to bring it back and p/u my own car, especially after they looked @ it.... dunnoo what i'd expect to pay (if anything) for the diagnostics :-( -Do these repairs sound dire & absolutely essential ASAP, or can i safely hold off a while-Is it worth it to go to a private mechanic (the car's 11 yrs old, after all) to save the $$, or will the parts potentially be of lesser quality Last thing, I promise: to make matters worse, i need all 4 tires replaced, something i can do @ tirerack etc., but i'd also ((really)) appreciate any advice on the best "affordable" & safe tires, what with winter looming. I have had Michelin, which i know is the standard, and since then Pirelli tires, which are "ok" at best. (i am thinking that Hankook, Dunlop, or Bridgestone are worth a look)***Thank you in advance to anyone who can offer any thoughts what so ever!!!!!

Troubleshooting Glove box Light

I have had my q45 since 1995. I purchased it with 30k miles on it and it has been stored indoors since day 1. I am now in the process of restoring it back to new, with a few additional performance mods. While I have it apart and up on the lift I am correcting everything I see no matter how big or small. With that being said I am attempting to trouble shoot the glove box light not working. I have checked continuity on the glove box switch. I have also checked for voltage at the wiring harness connection to the light on the side of the glove box next to the switch (no voltage). I have checked all of these with the car in the "on" position in the off chance that the glove box light only works when the car is "on". I have read the fsm at length and do not see a next logical place to check. I have checked the interior fuse box and all looks well there. All of the other interior lighting is functioning properly. The only light inop is the glove box. I still have to finish the window switch lights and then the light part of the rehab will be complete.any suggestions would be helpful.thanks

Why not Front suspension is shared in design with the skyline, more than enough engine bay room, more power than you will ever need is attainable, hell the 240 guys are getting away with it by welding in skyline front suspension. Bottomline is more mainstream power increase options, it would fix the "off the line" sluggishness So why not

No loud noise. There was a loss of power(car would cut off) and occasionally the act susp system would fell but the engine looked good no leaks. A while after I got my girl told me she smelled gas one time when she drove it but I never did. And that shop said I needed a timing chain with out opening the engine just on the sound and not starting alone. Is this a timing chain issue or something simpler

Official Cheap Y33 airsuspension (bag on OE shock) with no compressor/tank

Hey guys, so i have a few 97-01 q45s and like 2 parts cars, and what ive been meaning to do for quite a while is to try to put a bag on stock strut and just run a braided steel line fromt the bag to somewhere in the trunk. Do so to all four corners and have some type of valve at the end of each line, then drop/raise the car from each separate valve from a compressor i have at the shop, the way i would make sure they are all same drop is by checkin the compression in the bag. what i need now is some more info from all you guys that been working with bags for many years. how would this setup work, how would i fit the bag on the shock how will the bag sit on the shockAny imput would be more then apreciated

Flashing interior lights Security system issue

Hey all,Just bought my first Q45 this weekend. Its a 1993 with 104k miles on it and in pretty good shape. I am VERY familiar with Nissans. I am an avid Z31(300zx) enthusiast and considered one of the more knowledgeable members of Z31 and Z31performance.com. Since I am new to the Q, I was wondering if anyone has run into an issue of your interior lights flashing for ~30-60 seconds when you get in the car I tried removing the fuseable link but it didnt change anything. I havent had time to really look into the issue yet and already searched the forum but didnt come up with anything. I detailed her, flushed the engine, gave it some fuel injector cleaner, cleaned the MAF and throttle body this weekend. On top of that I installed my Watanabe RS-8's that I had sitting on my Z31 project car. The stance of the car is perfect. I will be putting pics up later today in the 'show your ride' section.

FGY33 Radiator is needed now

As I was looking for the metal plate that had my interior/exterior paint info early this morning while the car was running, I was surprised to see antifreeze running along the top of the radiator from left to right! I could see the fluid under the air duct that connects to the air filter box. My car hasn't been running hot and I never smelled antifreeze after getting out of the car. I see that I have a small leak. Could you all recommend me some good radiators/brand and place of purchase I'm thinking about just going with the oem radiator again since it lasted to 211k but there might be aftermarket radiators out there that are built just as good or better. Here are some quick pics I snapped with my BlackBerry camera. Sorry for the quality since it was dark outside....but these pics will give you an idea of what I'm dealing with now. Please chime in...

Y50 Owners! Need feedback on 2002 Q45 Purchase

Hey guys, I am about to pull the trigger on a 2002 Q45 as my daily, and want some feedback. I had a GS400 in the past, and really enjoy a big body JDM crusier. I've been wanting something a little more professional for daily use, so I can keep my 350z garaged. I found an 02 with 115k on the clock and its clear that there hasn't been much service done recently besides oil changes. The owner clearly doesnt know much about the car, and says he rarely drives it. I did do an extensive test drive and check of the car. There are so many bells and whistles on this car its hard to check everything! Its got the nav pack, sport suspension, sunshades, and reclining rear seats. Here's what I found:- Shimmy in the steering wheel at speed - I would assume I need an alignement at the very least, do these cars go through tie rods and ball joints- Rear shocks are blown (it has sport suspension) and seem to be chattering/banging around, almost like someone installed it wrong- Brakes are toast- Spare tire in trunk is underwater - I read that a few owners had this problem - I would guess its a bad seal some place- HID not working. I would assume bulb, but someone mentioned these can have Ballast issues.- Exhaust leak- Front tires getting low- Coolent and Oil low- Are the clocks backlit It didnt light up at night- All interior guage lights seemed dim to me, even on full brightness.- He told me he hadn't done the timing belt yet, but I thought these were on a chainYou guys would also know best as to what these are cars fetching on the used market. And how much am I looking at for parts and service. I think most of the stuff I can do myself. The brake job is a PITA, but I could turn the rotors and toss on pads. The shocks seem to be the most pricey at 200 a piece. I think I can grab cheapo HID bulbs on ebay and be ok for a while. And ONE MORE QUESTION - What kinda everyday MPG are you getting with your Y50'sWhat do you think guys, send this one back, or pull the triggerOh and if Pioneer is still on here, shoot me a PM, I sold you some racing harts a while back and would really like your feedback.Modified by phisig at 11:33 AM 11/8/2009Modified by phisig at 11:47 AM 11/8/2009Modified by phisig at 2:18 PM 11/8/2009

There are so many bells and whistles on this car its hard to check everything!
loud fan/engine heat in the cabin

ok first off i a have done the regular maintenance for my Q. All the regular flushes and change all the fluids and so forth. I use all oem replacement parts. I also have tried searching through the old post but to no avail. Now on to my question. Recently my car was overheating. the coolant seemed fine but the gauge was reading right below the overheat mark. I figured it might be the thermostat. my fan clutch was also going out. So i installed a new thermostat, fan clutch and fan. I did not install a new water pump. I also had the coolant flushed. The thing is now when i start the car the fan blows really hard. it kinda sounds like a bus if that makes any sense. like a loud wooshing sound. the rpm idles around 1250. The sound kind of goes away when the car warms up. But you can really hear the fan when i step on the gas. Also now when im driving and the car has warmed up i can feel the heat from the engine coming in around my feet area. Kinda like if you ever rode in a muscle car you can feel the heat of the engine at your feet. I have compared it to my friends Q but i cant seem to figure out whats wrong. Please help Q gurus. Constructive criticism please. I am willing to learn to fix the problem and do it right the first time. THANK YOU for your help in advance!!

Possible suspension issue

03 Q45 with 107k miles: When applying brakes, a rocking-vibration motion seems to be transmitted thru the car body....more intense at highway speeds. So far the only troubleshoot done was to inspect brakes and they passed. Could this be related to the need to change out the u-joint, motor mounts, etc.. Any clue as to where to focus would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
