For those with the Tech package...

This week I've been working on condensing, consolidating, and organizing my music collection so that I can stop switching CDs so much or having to worry about carrying so many. So, I found out (the hard way) that the DVD player will only play DVDs encoded as DVD-Audio but won't play a DVD full of mp3s or wma's, etc. I've also figured out that it's an extremely difficult task to find some reliable free (not pirated) software to make DVD-Audio DVD's.

Anyway, for those who haven't experimented with this at all, the DVD-Audio format allows for you to encode your music a different way with a better sound quality (I won't bore you with all the details of lossless formats, etc.). Anyway, I have made two DVD-Audio DVDs and I can really tell the difference in the sound. It's a much fuller sound with a more realistic replication of sound.

I've found 2 programs that allow you to make this type of DVD:
DVDA-Audio http://dvd-audio.sourceforge.net/
and Adobeman's DVDA GUI http://home.comcast.net/~adobeman/DVDAGUI/.

I never got the first one to work, but I did get some success out of the second one, but only with 2channel sound (I'd love to make 5.1 DVDs) and only using one "group."

For anybody else who has tried this...Is there any other software that you've used that allows for 5.1 channel DVDs?

06 m35x wants to kill when starting

i have a 06 m35x after it sits for 45 minutes to 1 hour, hit the start ignition starts up but the revs real low like it wants to kill, then it comes out of it and revs to normal, the car could sit for 8 hours or 5 minutes seems like it only has this problem between 45 minutes to 1 hour brought the car in twice cant figure out whats wrong. any ideas out there.

Anyone else get a letter from Infiniti stating "the radiator fan motor may become in-operable, which may cause the engine coolant temperature to rise." ? They are extending the warranty to 96 months or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first and only applies to the radiator fan motor.

So I just made a comment on another post about horrible engine noise (rsg123) and said for me the noise would come and then go away after a few minutes. Well today it was back and never went off! It just came on at a stop light, so embarrassing to drive with that loud as noise that just gets louder the higher your RPMs. I just had the oil changed 3 days ago too, so it shouldn't be that. I now have it at the dealership and ill post the outcome when I hear it....

Anyone experience vibration/noise in the 2006 35/45. It is near the camera/sensor right above the rearview mirror. The plastic center piece is not snug on mine. How is it for everyone else? They changed that piece I noticed in the 07 on.

So I get into my M and this little key and battery icon starts to appear on the LCD. It takes me two-three sessions (I'm 62...) to begin to realize that this is probably a reminder that I need to change the battery in my key fobs. I did it and its disappeared. Kool..!

My car (an 06 M35x) has this insanely annoying rattle/ping/metallic vibration that occurs around 2700 to 3000 RPM, when I'm accelerating, especially when I "punch it". I also noticed that it doesn't do it if the engine/exhaust is still cold, and that it is the worst when I'm driving hard. (Needless to say it is extremely embarrassing when driving with friends)

Hey guys. The other day I was on amazon and I came across this, and so I bought it:

Line out - composite AV cable for Ipods. I was a little unhappy with the sound quality of my ipod which was hooked up though a cable from the headphone jack of the ipod, to the aux inputs.

Immediately when I hooked this cable up I could tell the difference. The sound coming out of the ipod is at the line-out level, so the volume is controlled by the car stereo, and not the ipod. The sound is 100% improved!

I also bought one of these, so that I can take the usb plug from the above cable, and plug it to the cigarette lighter attachment, in order to charge the ipod at the same time.

The reviews on amazon say the composite cable doesnt work with IPOD touches running os 3.0, and although I do have a brand new IPOD touch running os 3.0, I havent tested it to confirm. I use my old ipod in my car. However, I encourage everyone currently connecting their ipod via the headphone jack to consider this solution.

Vibration at 38 mph

I am relentlessly checking tire pressure. The wheels were balanced during my last service. But still, there is a noticeable vibration between 38 - 40 mph. I can feel it when the car is coasting. I can feel it while braking. It's NOT subtle.

Could this be tires? The dealer swears up and down it's not warped rotors. I have about 55k on the car, and the tires are Goodyear - lots of tread left, so perhaps not original?

Any thoughts?

I live in Iowa, I am getting my oil changed tomorrow and bought Mobil 1 0w-30. Is this a good choice for the winter months outside? Also I got the quarts at Wal-mart and the oil was really cheap, $22 for 5 quarts and I bought a single quart for adding. Total was around $30. What do you guys think?

M45 Intelligent cruise control not working -- Help please

I have an '04 M45 that has worked fine since new except minor issues that have been resolved under warranty. The car now has 77k miles and has given me its first real issue.
I took it on a trip to Florida recently and the intelligent cruise worked fine. Upon my return, I tried to turn on the cruise control like I normally would and immediately would beep and a yellow cruise light would light up on the dash. The cruise doesn't seem to work anymore.
So I would have to turn off the car and it would do the same thing each time.
The standard cruise control function works fine if I hold the cruise button for the few seconds required, as long as I don't create the error condition I described above. If I have the error condition, the only way to get even the standard cruise to work is by turn off the car and starting it back up again and directly activating the standard cruise.
Any of you guys seen this before? I'm kind of surprised at how it stopped worked all of a sudden. Is there a way to diagnose this without taking it to the dealer? I reset the car's battery but it didn't help.

I've seen a lot of post on what to do before peoples warranty expires, and I have also noticed some people saying you can pay some mechanics to find a lot of things that would be covered under warranty. Does Infiniti ever just hook the computer up to see if anythings wrong, even if no lights are on your dash? I would love to find a mechanic to find stupid little things that they know they can get fixed under the warranty before it expires!

I have to take my car in for an oil change here this week and would like them to look at a couple other things, but is there anything I can say or do to make them look for anything that would need replaced or fixed?

Had a Question ( and being new to this forum, but not other car forums I did do a search function to no avail.)

Can I add on a Rear Seat entertainment package to a used 07'? and also how does this thing work... I understand you cant wach DVD's in motion so what does it display while in motion, the navi screen.

also in my model is there av and video inputs in that little panel in the back.

and last question, do my passengers have rear audio contols, and how does that work.

Horrible noise/smell on starting car this morning

I started my car yesterday and turned it off after 5 seconds (testing out my radar detector install) and everything was fine.
This morning, when it started it made a very loud noise that got louder as the engine revved. I immediately turned it off and tried again with the same result. It smelled like burning plastic throughout the garage.
I did not have time to check any fluid levels and just took my old car to work. I am leaning towards low oil as the problem since I heard some similar engine noise problems in this forum, but those were all during driving.
Any suggestions on what to check?

Stillen Exhaust on 2008 M45 Sport

I have purchased a 2008 M45 Sport and am trying to decide between Megan Exhaust and Stillen Exhaust. I would like to see if anyone has a picture of a M45 or M35 Sport with Stillen exhaust. I am concerned how it will look since I will be going from dual exhaust tips to a single exhaust tip and the cutout in the Sport rear end for the exhaust is rectanguar. Any thoughts/pictures would be appreciated.

I just want to cry. While testing points on my screen connector for a custom video integration install, everything went out. I unhooked my battery, tested all the fuses under my hood and see nothing obvious. Here are some symptoms:

Screen doesn't come on (non-navi car)
Buttons don't turn on Climate control, stereo, anything else on the panel
Buttons on super switch panel don't light
Speedo and tach don't light
Tape deck won't take a tape
Power steering column and power seats won't work when car is running.
Column and seat controls work when car is not running.

Anyone know how all these things are tied together? I feel sick to think how much a dealer will charge to fix this.

Help with stained 2007 M35x stock rims

I just purchased a 2007 M35x. Wow, what a great car!
The rims have a stain that looks like some kind of chemical corrosion from a cleaner that was sprayed on. I think they are unpainted alloys. Has this happened to anyone? Can I use metal polish to remove the stains?

Rotor Question

Besides the rust being there which won't come off after driving it for a bit the pads doesn't seem to contact all of the rotor. If you look at where the lower part of the rotor where the dripping rust on the hole that spot has never been on contact with the pads. Is this considered normal on the M or something else?

To be truthful I only have the drivers side header partially installed. It is the more cramped area and definitely requres more massaging of the titan header but it fits.

I just traded one Infiniti M45 for another. My "old" M45 had 35k on it and I had it in to get the Element 114 cat back taken off before I traded it in. The shop ran the "accessories mode' for a little while while they changed out the exhaust. When I picked up that car, it was deader than a doornail and needed to be jumped.

Cut to my "new" Infiniti M45 that also has 35k on it. Twice in the last two days it has been dead on me. Once when I picked it up from getting my aero kit put on and then today after I had a couple of windows re-tinted.

I have an appointment tomorrow for a new battery. Has anyone else had these issues with the battery?

Surround Sound Volume

Have you guys with the 14-speaker setup ever turned up the Surround Sound Volume all the way up? I always hated the fake surround sound plugins and such you can get for your mp3s using programs like winamp, so i kept it the surround sound volume at a low setting. I was messing with the audio settings today and decided to turn that setting all the way up and WOW what a difference in how the audio sounds! The seat speakers just make the music pop to life, kinda disappointed I didnt figure this out earlier!

So i was messing around with the GPS features and I turned on the "Track" feature where it lays down blue dots on the roads you have traveled. It was interesting at first but I later decided to turn it off. But the damn blue dots won't go away!

i performed decarb clean service at the dealer $150 45k ago, and now that i have almost 90k , i called to set up another appointment and they told me that they usually dont recommend it due to potential problem cause. i was surprised, i as i remember , it should be done very 30k, that is what they told me. i am not talking about adding can of BG44 in the gas tank of course.
Tech told me that it cause , oxygen and catalytic converter failure.
car runs fine, but mpg dropped.
I always ran shorter tires all around,(that is how i went 14.1@100.5 in the 1/4, which is a good thing) but i put right size on the rear and my mpg went down from 20,5 to 18.5. tire add 2lbs to the wheels of course.

anyways, what you can tell me about this service?
should i bother with it?

I'm starting a new thread because my response is fairly buried in my old thread about warranty stuff.

I just got back from the dealership and here is the story. The service manager asked if he could drive the car home and back and really spend some time with it to see if anything else is going on; I agreed to that. The SM and the master tech there spent two hours this morning driving my car as well as another used 2006 M35x they had on the lot to see if there is any similarity.

Well apparently there is some similarities. This might simply be a AWD thing, but both cars apparently experience this slight back/forth vibration while the car is running around 36-38mph (in drive) and ~ 1500rpm (on a flat or slightly decline road). My car was more pronounced than this other one, but they both vibrate. The SM is convinced that it's the overdrive engagement and that speed and rpm is right at the point where it can slip and shudder between gears.

This issue cannot be replicated in manual mode at all or when you pop it into neutral at the same driving conditions.

Since they have already replaced the entire transmission, the SM manager is convinced this is normal activity and to not worry about impending failure of something in the drivetrain. He said to simply pop it into manual mode if I have to do driving in those conditions for an extended period of time.

I am concerned about this, but should I be?

What are your thoughts? Have you experienced this in your '06 (maybe '07 -'08?) M35x? If you were me what else would you do? Am I being a pushover or baby about this?

auto steering wheel and seat movement

The auto seat & steering wheel adjustment feature when I start my ignition is not working well. It moves the seat some but I have to press the memory button to make it advance. Sometimes I have to push that button several times for it to complete the task.
Is this something I can fix?

is the ride on 19"s really that much better? i'd not heard of anyone going bigger than 40% aspect ratio on the tires on 19s so if you'll be on 35 series tires on similar width wheel, it doesn't really seem like you'll be getting any more sidewall to make the ride more comfortable on the 19 vs the 20.

so if it isn't much more comfortable, and there is still a price differential on the tires (19's more expensive than 20s). would seem like a better deal just to get 20s.

Hello, guys i just picked up a 07' M35X with 25k miles. so far i love everything about it except for one thing... no aux... it has nav but no aux.. i know there are some aftermarket options. please guide me to the right direction. i want to use my iphone 3gs for ipod and VIDEO.. yes i will have to do nav hack while i'm at it .

so my question is..
does this pac adapter has audio and video aux input or just audio?

Service Engine Soon light after trying to install Invisicord

I was installing Invisicord (invisicord.com) with BlendMount for my radar detector a few days ago. The Invisicord taps into the back of the wiring harness for the rearview mirror to give power to the RD.
I verified power with a multimeter. When I turned the RD on (car power totally off--yes, there is apparently constant power supplied to the mirror), the detector powered up, then shut down giving a "Low Voltage" error. Right after it shut down, the domelights turned on for 2 seconds which I thought was odd. There are three wires on the mirror harness, one + and the other two -. I tried both negative wires with the same result.
At this point, I thought 'oh well, the Invisicord doesn't work'. However, when I started the car, the Service Engine Soon light illuminated. It has been on ever since. The gas cap is on tight.
What is going on and how do I clear this error?

Just got car back from maintenance service today (32K). One item I asked them to check was the driver side heated seat. Noticed that driver side not getting as hot as the passenger side. Infiniti service tech checked and they advised seat was working fine. They further advised that for some reason on the M's the driver side heated seat never gets as hot as the passenger side...

Anyone else had this issue?

I own a 2006 M35x and would like to find a cap to put over the cigarette lighter receptical. If I could find a cap, I could take the lighter out and use the space more efficiently.

Does anyone know how to adjust the fog light's light height? like how you can adjust the high beam? or is it fixed? because i realized that the fog light is aiming so low... so what's the point of having this fog light?

New to this forum...

I bought a used 06 M35 sport about a year ago with 69k. Everything worked PERFECT
Recently though, (88k)when I first start the car (cold or warm) the navigation system just cycles over and over and over. the screen flickers for a sec, the lights on the heater controls flash on/off and nothing responds to change (cant change the climate, radio or navigation)

Eventually it does turn on and everything works fine. But this could be 1 minute after starting or it could be 20 minutes later!!

I don't have a warranty nor do I care for dealer cost' to repair. Is this a common problem that people just deal with? Is there a fix or known process for repair?

I searched several pages of threads on here but couldn't find anything related
(I am new to this so maybe I'm just lame)

Any help would be appreciated

203 M45 Keyless entry working intermittently

I just bought an 03 M45 and I'm finding a few annoying problems. I have two keys the red light on both remotes light up when I hit the lock or unlock button but about half of the time the car will not respond even if I'm standing 1 foot from the car. Any ideas?
