Frontier's engine and ALL electrical system dies without warning

I can be driving down the road, all of the sudden the engine dies and all electrical systems are off line. not even my dome light will come on.Other days, if I am getting ready for work, I use my remote keyless entry and it does not work. it acts like it has no power. If I wait a few minutes in either scenario, the truck runs fine again.I replaced the battery and alternator, but my attempts to alleviate the problem have been futile.I took the truck to a nissan dealership and they could not find any problems with a basic electrical test. This is a 2000 Nissan Fronter XEif anyone can help me, I would be very grateful!Thanks,-Ron

Just wondered if anyone else out there is a Pike factory fan and/or owner, and if anyone here from Canada has a direct line to Nissan parts in Japan so I don't have to get them from across the Atlantic all the timeI am sure there are other North American fans of RHD JDM cars!PikeFactoryFan

MR2 AW11 build thread

About a month ago I picked up an 85 MR2 (first year available in the states) and have been sitting on it while I decided what to do with it. As much as I f*ck around in life and get drunk all the time, building cars is about the only thing I do with a purpose in mind and the purpose for the MR2 hit me last weekend. My AW11 is going to be built for the STS category of SCCA. After reviewing the rules (both while intoxicated and while not), I began making a list (a long list) of things that need to be done to the car to prep it for STS by Feb of next year. This is going to be a no-f*cking around build, as time is short and money will have to be stretched...Total cost for the project is estimated to be around 6-9k, depending on how the body work goes on the car. My poor vehicle has a good bit of rust. The 4ag that sits in the car is 25 years old and will require a full rebuild. Anyway, today I kick-started the process by ordering the first batch of parts to go on the car:-Sparco seat/bracket/hardware-Momo wheel/boss kit-Rotora front rotors-Suspension Techniques front and rear sway bars-Prothane bushing kitThe race to have the car built by February of next year is on.

ca18de swap in nissan 200sx // s12 silvia

i didnt know where else to put this, as threre seems to be no spot under the nissan forums that is reserved for s12's ...What is the TRUE weight of the s13 silvia Q's and does the s13 silvia Q's (ca18de) weigh more than the 240sx (ka24e/de) ...anddoes the s12 200sx with the ca18et weigh more or less than the s13 Q's, and the 240sxim very curious to know the actual weight difference between the two, because i am heavily considering a ca18de. i know that the 88-89 s13 Q's came with the ca18de, and from what i have seen and read they dont neccesarily seem to be all that slow, they seem to be a high revving engine that can rev and hold, like a bigger 4age.what im going for here, is basically an emulation of the ae86 toyota corolla gt-s. since the s12 s bigger but not by too much, then im thinking the ca18de in the s12 would be what the 4age is in an ae86. basically just a bigger version. im really geeked out on this idea, because i want a higher revving engine that i can control my sliding and corner entry/exit more tactfully with more throttle response precision, the way i can with my 4age going uphill.also i want the dohc platform for an intro into the ca18det world, but i would like to go in n/a to start. if im thinking correctly, the ca18de should be just cutting it in terms of displacement, but have enough hp to make up without having to go too high to get it. basically, they put 1.8's in integras, which look to be around trhe same weight as the 200sx and the 240sx for that matter.heres what i want to do:-find a silvia Q's ca18de swap with everything included. -hopefully the de block is compatible with the s12 tranny, and if so hopefully the GR's are the same (any info on that would b awsome) -if not the use the Q's tranny-do the intake cam swap with another exhaust cam(read about this on a pulsar thread) for a higher L/D you just yank the exhaust cam from a de head and swap it in place of your intake cam.-shave the head a few thousandths-get those purple adj cam timing sprockets from ebay for liek 125 shipped for the set of 2 for the ca18de :D-roll w a good timing belt-new injectors-new 10mm wires, or get an 8mm accell v8 kit-relocate battery to rear-generiic short ram or cai-Q's harness and ecu-some sort of piggyback or afc to tune with thats compatible with the stock ca18de ecu.(not the one that came with the ca18et)-wideband to see whats really going on with my tune-93 octane only-8 lb flywheel for ca18det-stage 2 clutch-240sx exhaust catback, one of those ebay ones w the angled output/muffler section-megans all the way around, or s13 front suspension swap + midrange (500$) coilovers-s/d f+r rotors, ebc or like quality pads.-some sort of compatible, direct swap lsd rear end, like im thinking the one from the non turbo z32 300zx, ive heard it has a lower gearing, like a 4/11.a 6 speed transission would be peaches and cream tro drive, but i realize thats asking way too much right now.im thinking this will give me the 150-ish hp and 120-ish TQ im looking for, but with the precision controllability of a high revving n/a engine, but a strong one that i can daily drive with a decent suspension package to match.i plan on running around 1.8-2.0 deg in front camber and .8-1.0 in rear camber. the negative camber on the front really helps assistance with steer-in on turns. its quite an advantage.the type of roads that i will be using this setup on are twisty mountain backroads with a lot of hairpins, grades, banks, long drawn out drifty corners and balls-to-the-wall str8's. i drive roads like this to and from work almost every day so im looking for an n/a engine with high volumetric efficiency, decent power, and decent aftermarket support.i know about these problems thus far, and would like some feedback from ppl who are experienced with the rwd ca18de setup.-unknown ca18de rwd header that will work around usdm steering setups-unknown ca18 silvia Q's setup conversion driveshaft information for swapping the package into the s12-unknown true weight comparison between s13 Q's and s12 turbo-i read thre is a 5" diffrernce between shifter location on the s12 from the s13i would be after the sr20de, or the ka24e/de, but the sr20 is too tall and bumps the hood and the ka24 would be an engine from a different platform.i want to go with the ca18de b/c of its closeness to what was already in the car.i hope i can find some feedback from rwd ca18de folks on my idea for the setup i want to go with. i have searched and searched and have found very little info about the Q's and ca18de rwd's in general, but they seem to be quite a decent engine. they may not have oil squirters in the block like the 4age smallports but they may not need them either, apparently the crank and rods are the same between both the de's and the det's.anyone with any info based on actual experience with the ca18de n/a rwd setup with good insight please reply. dont worry about replying if your going to say just get the det, or get an sr20, get the v6, get an ls-1, or anything else like that, im purely intrested only in the difference in weight between he s12 and s13, how much affordable budget-power can be made with the de, how practical it is, how much power or how it behaves in the vehicle compared to the ka24, the difference being in either the s12 or s13. thanks to all who have read thus far.

1.8-2.0 deg in front camber and .8-1.0 in rear camber. the negative camber on the front really helps assistance with steer-in on turns. its quite an advantage.
the type of roads that i will be using this setup on are twisty mountain backroads with a lot of hairpins, grades, banks, long drawn out drifty corners and balls-to-the-wall str8's. i drive roads like this to and from work almost every day so im looking for an n/a engine with high volumetric efficiency, decent power, and decent aftermarket support.
i know about these problems thus far, and would like some feedback from ppl who are experienced with the rwd ca18de setup.
-unknown ca18de rwd header that will work around usdm steering setups
-unknown ca18 silvia Q's setup conversion driveshaft information for swapping the package into the s12
-unknown true weight comparison between s13 Q's and s12 turbo
-i read thre is a 5" diffrernce between shifter location on the s12 from the s13
i would be after the sr20de, or the ka24e/de, but the sr20 is too tall and bumps the hood and the ka24 would be an engine from a different platform.
i want to go with the ca18de b/c of its closeness to what was already in the car.
i hope i can find some feedback from rwd ca18de folks on my idea for the setup i want to go with. i have searched and searched and have found very little info about the Q's and ca18de rwd's in general, but they seem to be quite a decent engine. they may not have oil squirters in the block like the 4age smallports but they may not need them either, apparently the crank and rods are the same between both the de's and the det's.
anyone with any info based on actual experience with the ca18de n/a rwd setup with good insight please reply. dont worry about replying if your going to say just get the det, or get an sr20, get the v6, get an ls-1, or anything else like that, im purely intrested only in the difference in weight between he s12 and s13, how much affordable budget-power can be made with the de, how practical it is, how much power or how it behaves in the vehicle compared to the ka24, the difference being in either the s12 or s13.
thanks to all who have read thus far.

Converting my 87 Nissan Pulsar NX from an XE to SE

I've came with a conclusion that I may not put a CA18 or SR20 in it so I found a CA16de engine available and I know the 87 Pulsar NX SE model had that engine. Since I have the XE model with the e16i engine, what kind of requirements would I need for it work whether it will need a new suspension, axle and such. I have been asking this question everywhere, even professionals dont seem to know anything so I guess this is the only place that can help me decide whether I want to sell or actually work on it so that I will no longer be mocked for having a stylish car with no decent power to it. Mostly just tired of having an import car with a carbourated engine with lack of power and putting effort to start it in the winter.

It's my '30 Ford coupe. It'll be on the road next summer. I've got an Evo and a turbo 240 and this is cooler than both of them combined. It's got a 400" '69 Pontiac engine in it making about 400hp. It's going to make women and children weep. I fantasize daily about what's going to happen the first time I pull up next to a riced out Civic in this thing. WHHOOO BOY

what de you know about 2008 Lexus GS350

I just look for information about 2008 Lexus GS350 because I want to get a car like that. I I have read that this splendid car could give me the safety and the comfort that I need. look:The Lexus GS seems like a bargain and is appropriately priced at around $45,000 for our 3.5 Liter V6 equipped version. The 24 valve VVT-i is not all about comfort, with a maximum output of 303 HP our GS 350 packed quite a bit of get up and go. However all out performance wasnt on the GS deign teams mind either, it is quite a fuel efficient package thanks in part to the continuously variable valve timing and direct gasoline injection, but it is the fuel economy minded electronically controlled transmission that makes the biggest impact on efficiency, returning 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG at highway speeds.what de you think about that:P

Engine Swap for a 87 Nissan Pulsar NX

Hey everyone,I have a serious issue with my 87 Pulsar, its been garage kept for more than a decade and I am now the second owner. My uncle owned it and he really didnt take care of it while it was being stored and I did a few replacements to get it fully running. Then winter came and I started noticing how 5th gear pops out and had this annoying jolting while I press the gas. The colder it is the tougher the jerking gets and I am mostly tired of the popping out of 5th gear and I am on the edge on wanting to get an engine swap.It has an E16i engine and I am aware for how weak it is as well as how unpopular it is. I have been trying to find the right engine to change it with and its difficult to find the right Nissan engine that is compatible with it including that its FWD. I really need help in finding that engine and tranny so that I get the car running in top shape like its supposed to, the exterior and interior is in perfect condition but works like a beat up car. I would appreciate if you guys give me some leads so I can prepare myself and try to save up. I rather try to revive it than get a new car knowing how difficult times are.

Pics of our project AE86

What do you get when you take 5 guys, a whole boatload of automotive knowledge and a bit of pocket cash Project 86...It all started two nights ago. My friend Dan asked me to assist on a group project between himself and 3 other dudes I knew. I said, what kinda project. He was like, "Were building a Hachi..." Instantly I was a bit putoff, but hey, I have nothing to do right now until my RS13 is ready for Nurburgring and Hockenheim, so I said "what the hell" and jumped on.Dan and I woke early, to get to the junkyard before all the other initial douchebags could buy it.(Pic, Dan's RHS13, as seen from my RS13)We finally found the car, and I was a bit relieved, at least its a coupe... We got them to forklift it out from where it was, amongst the sea of other junkers like it, and then sat it out in the open, where we could get a good look at it and think of a fair price. Originally I was thinking they were going to screw us and try to charge something outrageous for a piece of crap like this, anything more than 500 (which is what these are worth), and I was walking. After popping the hood, I looked inside and that 500 pricetag just dropped to about 250. Its carbed... (Pic, me, Jim next to the junker, RS13 in the background)Well, we wanted to see if it would run, so my buddy Jay hopped in while I dumped on a bunch of carb start. He turned the motor over a few times and finally it awoke, and it was LOUD. No, not the exhaust, the motor. Just then, we heard, CLUNK. "Well, there goes a rod," I thought. Nope, aparently it was already busted, we just assisted in breaking it further. We looked at the motor and it had a bunch of smoke pouring out a small fist sized hole in the block. I was ASTOUNDED that the motor started.(Pic, hole in block)(Pic, smoke comming out and oil shot over exhaust manif, and the motor bay)Well, Jay went and talk to the folks, and we forked up 250 for it, as its a pretty fair price of a craphole shell.I ran home to pick up my breaker bar and my rhino ramps, we had some work to do.We had it towed to Jasons house and the work began. You can tell this project isnt that important as we were all drinking beers and bs'ing a TON. When I did my SR20 back in the states, I was stone cold sober and worked like I had a gun to my head.(Pic, in order, left to right, Dan, Jay and Brandon. You can see me below, look for black jacket and white stripe. I was looking at how rusty the bolts were holding the exhaust system together)The whole time we were pulling this, I was thinking, "Dude, a CA18 would go nice in this." The decision was already made though, we already had a 4AG (not sure where its from yet, it was late when we picked up the motor last night and I didnt really care). We got the head off with little struggle, but the tranny proved to be a bit of a task to do w/out draining the fluid and w/out trying NOT to wear gear oil.(Pic, Brandon getting ready to pull up on the block so we could try to slide the tranny out)(Pic, Jay showing Jason what a bellhousing is. Were talking about a guy who drives a stock Lancer Oz and thinks its fast.)Before the sun went down that day, we had the crap motor out (no cherry picker), time to get the 4ag.(Pic, Jim and Jason over the empty motor bay)To be continued...Modified by flohtingPoint at 10:12 AM 3/21/2005Modified by flohtingPoint at 10:56 PM 5/2/2005
