Im ready to go to school Mommy!!!http://www.youtube.com/watchv=1RhbuUNDSsYpicsEventful Prep Day indeed as I drove around japan and picked up final parts from up garage etc. The car is all prepped and ready to learn from the pro's tomorrow.Well it was an eventful day... Suenaga got in my car twice and straight owned it... I have video in all..... I learned and applied his style through out the day... he is big on E-Brake initiation... To be honest I dabbled with side-braking.. but never mastered/applied it... After the 11 hour session today.... I feel very comfortable applying it anywhere.. My entry speeds have never been higher than today......The funny part was..... I was doing super bad...... being off for 8 months... I was off course etc... After he drove my car... I stepped up instantly and completed the course and he gave me the "wtf... im a great instructor" look.The dudes were all class acts and very down to earth and were great teachers and peers.great day.. some pictures I shot... while waiting etc........

Drifting with boost is so much fun. I had the track to myself for about 2 hours, then my car overheated haha. I still made it home though, that's what's important.I look like an astronaut. I also walk like a chicken. The best linking is from 2:10 to about 2:40. Enjoy!http://www.youtube.com/watchv=Lc6ogTW4wnwThis one is just some drifting followed by trying to keep up with my friend in his prelude followed by more drifting. After realizing that welded diffs suck for anything but drifting I decided that the only way I could keep up with him was to slide around corners. Then I decided to screw keeping up with him and try to start linking corners again.http://www.youtube.com/watchv=WJ3N85zqf9M

Driftwater 4 - NC/VA - Drift Practice

Driftwater 4 is scheduled for October 17th. I posted some pics from the 1st 2 events, look for "Driftwater" in this forum and you'll see some pics. Entry fee is either 125 or 100, I'm not sure as the specifics haven't been posted yet. It's an amazing road course located in Moyock NC, but people have traveled from as far as Maryland and Georgia to participate. Here's a pic of the track, once specifics are posted I'll post a link to them in this thread.

Front wheels dancing while in-drift.

Just yesterday we had our first big drift event here in the dominican republic, and ive been hearing that my car while it was drifting, the front right wheel (the one that was taking all the weight in the big sweeper) was shaking a LOT.Heres my setup: KA24e-TFront end stock arms, just some HKS Hipermax (32 point damping, rotating bottle.) just a Front strut bar. Rear end stock arms, Cusco struts (no damping or bottle rotation, just spring adjusment) no bars.Stock old bushings. and i noticed one of the brackets (the things that people replace with the nismo power brace, holds the tension rod and the radiator support) had crack in one side. Front Right side.around 80 kms/h in straight road i can feel the vibration, and while drifting its feeling pretty difficult to control the front end. had the chance to see Calvin Wan`s old RX7 and Casper Canul S14 and the level was totally different.So here i am, lets see what kind of changes, checks would you recommend for me, i want to stiffen the car up, gain control on the front end. stop the shaking etc...im amazed to see my car still transfering so much weight to one side.... even with the HKS Hipers stiff as hell, all the way to the 32 point setHere are some pics of the transfers etc, hopefully to get some feedback and tips. Some pics show the car in perfect balance, but i wont post those, im posting the ones that i think can show the defects.

Well I never post on these boards, but I am very interested in s13's and eventually want to get one. I dont plan on drifting but I just had a question thats been on my mind for a while. I was curious what most drift cars use for steering Do you keep stock powersteering or remove it and get a manual rack/pinion thanks for responses.

New Drift Documentary / Running Life

Hey guys, help Luke from Running Life / Hashiriya Exports fund his new project. I already sent my donation in!http://slideasylum.blogspot.co....htmlQuote, originally posted by Luke Hello all, would you please take a moment to read everything here its important and its for you! My passion for this sport and the drift community can not be expressed in words its so huge and its what keeps me going, no drift no life. Now Im sure you have all seen my recent work with the Ebisu Drift Matsuri and D1 Mobara videos, Im sure your well aware that Im a poor kid living on TV dinners just so I can pay the rent and film events, dont even get me started on my JZX90 drift car that just gets hard parked 70% of the year. If you have not seen my work please check below for 3 of my latest videos. To the chase, I have watched every drift DVD there is to do with drifting and the culture based around the drifting community and not one of them even came close to anything I have been around since being in Japan. These films cut through the darkness and the behind the scene action and get straight to the drifting, be it street drifting or D1 level drifting. Name a single DVD out there that gives you a proper take on drifting and the real culture and OUR community, a DVD that your parents can watch and will actually understand why you love the sport so much, a DVD that anyone can watch without even liking cars but can come to an understanding of how drifting works and why it runs through your blood, when your wife or girl friend complains you have no money you put the DVD on to shut them up. There is no DVD like this because a simple drift DVD can not capture these moments, you need a drift documentary for all of this. My aim since day one has been to show a different side of drifting, sure I love crashes I love the glamour but the only thing that keeps me drifting and in the sport is my friends and the community. Put it this way if you had no community, you had no friends in drifting would you still have as much fun as you do now Would you even be in the sport today if you friends the from the community did not introduce you to it NO is the simple answer. Drifting was not built on cars or tire smoke, just like everything else people built drifting because it starts with friends that then form a community, the cars were just there as the tools, the real drive behind drifting is how far people will push it, or how the community moves forward working together to change the style of drifting. The community has got drifting to where it is today, it has pushed everyone of you out an extra 4 inches closer to the wall because thats whats needed now days to win events, the judges looked at whats important and looked at what the community wants to see, everything comes back to us and what we want. With all this happening where are the films to document this movement, wheres the film to show the community today and show how it is the base of drifting. I want to watch a film and feel like I have had a hand in this sport, that in some way I have helped people to understand why I love it, why we all love it. Drifting is a sport that anyone can do, fat, skinny, male or female nothing stops you from becoming the best besides your own self determination. What am I offering, I am offering you a chance to pick what you want in a film not just a normal drift DVD but a documentary on drift and its community, Im taking a part out of everyone of you and putting it into this film. You can say ohh s*** thats my idea here, you can have a hand in this production. Think of walking through a big movie shop and it has everything about drifting on the shelf, street drifting, interviews, grass roots D1 divisional events, workshop tours you name it has it. You pick what you want off the shelf take it to the counter and bang out comes a film that has awesomeness times 10,000 inside of it and is everything YOU want to see, thats what I want to do for you. Once this film is made will i get some guys i know to subtitle it for Japanese release so i can send it into Drift Tengoku magazine to futher help with support or any attention i can get for this film. I dont want to steal you money, I dont want to make a million dollars all I want is people to give me a chance and a bit of help. I dont want to charge for this documentary film per sale I want to try and get some sort of donation system going, I would like a donation and picture of you and your name, if your from a company your company name and logo or a picture of your face. I want to build a documentary for the people that have built the sport, I want the film cover to have every picture and name of everyone that has helped along with the same in the credits, this does not sound like much but really it makes you a part of documentary because with out your help this would not of happened, anything helps small or large it all helps. The donations would go to this, equipment, video tapes, batteries, fuel to get to the events, crazy japanese road tolls, fees for events, not one dollar will go on me kicking back and having a couple beers its all for this film. Im not a pro but i am guy that has more passion then most and knows what people want and what i want to do. You liked my other work so you should love this if it gets put into motion! I want to give you something that in 20-40 years when you have stopped driving you can pull out this film and it will give you goose bumps because it takes you back to all those emotions and feelings that drifting gave you. Now I know Im in Japan and youre the other side of the pond, but this film is not based on locations its based on the vibe that the world over has with drifting. Your in the UK, your in America, your anywhere in the world that has a community of drifters then this documentary will be 100% related to all the emotions and feelings we feel as a world wide drift community. Japan just allows me to capture touge footage and some stuff you guys will just never be able to see and experience. But none the less no matter where your from this documentary will relate to you and your experience in some way, a film that is on the same page as you something you dont watch like D1 and go, wow that can never be me or I could never get the backing to do that, because this is 100% grass roots REAL DRIFTING. Things off the top of my head I have access to. * Street drifting * Workshop reviews / Japanese guys / English guys doing business here * Driver interview / pros / amateurs / touge crowd * D1 divisional events, high level but still grass roots * Random drift events * Ebisu Drift Matsuri, the one event that brings everything about drifting together. A website will also be made to support this film along with every one who has helped getting plastered all over the internet to show that it was all made by the community for the community. Please let me know you input and thoughts about this, I would love to hear everything you have and want, please keep it all on topic. Please spread the word everywhere and to everyone lets get this going!!!! If you have read this but cant reply please join this great forum or email me on : automag_3@hotmail.com My motto for this film documentary is : We are community We are drifthttp://vimeo.com/4928296pg=embed&sec=http://vimeo.com/4636484pg=embed&sec=http://vimeo.com/5059286pg=embed&sec=

But none the less no matter where your from this documentary will relate to you and your experience in some way, a film that is on the same page as you something you don’t watch like D1 and go, wow that can never be me or I could never get the backing to do that, because this is 100% grass roots REAL DRIFTING.
    Things off the top of my head I have access to.
        * Street drifting
* Workshop reviews / Japanese guys / English guys doing business here
* Driver interview / pros / amateurs / touge crowd
* D1 divisional events, high level but still grass roots
* Random drift events
* Ebisu Drift Matsuri, the one event that brings everything about drifting together.?
    A website will also be made to support this film along with every one who has helped getting plastered all over the internet to show that it was all made by the community for the community.
    Please let me know you input and thoughts about this, I would love to hear everything you have and want, please keep it all on topic. Please spread the word everywhere and to everyone lets get this going!!!!
    If you have read this but cant reply please join this great forum or email me on :
    automag_3@hotmail.com
    My motto for this film documentary is :
    We are community
We are drift
http://vimeo.com/4928296?pg=embed&sec=
http://vimeo.com/4636484?pg=embed&sec=
http://vimeo.com/5059286?pg=embed&sec=

Roll Bars

I've never had a roll bar or cage in a vehicle, but after breaking wheel studs for the second time. My wife will no longer let my son come along on practice runs anymore... he was kinda like a little spotter or navigator; anyways what's the standard The most regulated events I attend are SCCA sponsored. There's nothing about roll bars in their reg., but I'm thinking the car may end up at different events sooner or later. But I don't want to have a 6 point installed to find out later I need at least an 8 point and have to figure out a way to build on an existing, when it could have been right from the start.For an idea of usage, I go driving/drifting 4 out of 7 mornings aweek and attend about 3 SCCA events a month. And my kid is 8 ( He wears a helmet for those more responsible people who might think this is out of line.) We wouldn't practice on the road if we had money for the track, in case anyone is wanting to take the conversation that way.

Building Z31 for drifting, new to this part of forum.

Bought a Z31 a few months ago, since then have stripped it down and re built front end and was working on rear when I blew my transmission last Saturday at an SCCA event. So I'm going to a stronger trans and finishing up suspension, polys and such.I've been practicing drifting in a nice safe and easy WRX the past couple years, I believe I've down all I can with it without lots of mods so I chose the Z31... it kinda chose me. I'm even picking up another this week, I'm hard on m. Hope I get some knowledge out of this group. Late.

Tire pressure/ tricks to make your tires last longer

So Ive been wondering this one for a while now, and a recent search of that forum has come up with nothing, so here it goes... Ive run everything from federal 595's to kumo ecasta's to pilotsports to gforce's to falkens to nankings to toyos to yokohamas and everything in between but i still seem to go through a lot of tires; most of the time around 6-8 *new* rear tires in a day, i must be doing something wrong. i pay retail for all my tires and let me tell you, it hurts.currently i have been running my tires at 35psi, and i have adjusted my rear camber so the tires wear evenly, none of that inner tire ware s*** caused by excessive negative camber. but my tires still manage to chunk like crazy and sometimes peel off in large strips.I have asked around a little, and i have heard of people running their tires at 60psi and others running tires backwards others say do short runs and let the tires cool down in between. advice

Drifting isn't pointless, It is a life saving skill.

This is a story about how drifting may have saves lives.I was interested on a coupe in NC about three hours away.I only google map his address and head out there.My friend Steve-o and I kept turning the wrong way due to f***ity directions from a website not written from actual street signs.So at one point we were headed the wrong way out of Zebmebulon, but didn't realize it for a bit. We see a guy mowing his lawn and decide to ask him directions.We start slowing for the turn and Steve-o realizes that the car behind him is not slowing down, he rips the e-brake and makes the turn before I knew what was happening. I was all "Way to go Steve-o" and then he told me we almost got seriously rearended. We turn around and when we pass the dude mowing the lawn who just has this look on his face I am not advocating street drifting, but that was a possibly life saving moment.
