Godspeed coilover review

There has been alot of bashing on these and i can understand, cause fan boys are fan boys but they do have a point, the cheap 500 dollars coils are going to perform like 1k or 2k coils, obviously. now i wouldnt have went with these unless this sweet deal went my way most guys go with the ss nonadjustable or regualer rs thats is. well i talked to the guys at godspeed and we talked out a sweet deal for the type rs that usaully retails at 600-700, the springs rate is 8 front and 6 back, 16 way adjustable. now i`ve road in 240sx that had megans, kts and some other kind i dont remember but i do remember him saying they were about 1100. so i will be comparing them to these.they are being shipped out today or tomorrow so i will be posting these up soon and all the juicy details.(please no fan boy flaming) this is an infomation thread about the hyper rsthank you

Wheel weight, tire weight and power...

Kind of wanting to get a general idea of some thoughts on this.I'm looking and spending some money to buy lighter wheels but I wasn't sure if the cost was justifiable. Will this translate into major gainsIE: If I swap out the stock flywheel to a Fidanza obviously I gain lost power from parasitic reduction. (crank pulley, driveshaft,etc...)Is the same principal true with wheels and is the equation (power gained = reduced weight) Whatever that would be.Also I am wanting to stick with an 18" wheel BUT assuming I went down to a 15 (Weld draglite... ie) would the increased tire size negate the weight loss of the wheel or is it so minimal that it's worth the wheel reduction

+48mm offset on 2001 Maxima/i30

Looking at a set of 18x8 wheels, with 225-45-18 Conti DWS tires. The only thing I question about the combo is the +48mm offset. The rims-n-tires calc says it should work, but I was wondering if anyone could confirm before I bite the bullet and make the purchase. Thanks in advance.-Chris

So I decided to do something about the weak stock brakes...

So my girlfriend was complaining about how her 240's brakes fade and made noise so I took it into my own hands to fix that little problem. Hence the pics. Needless to say we're both satisfied with the outcome. The braking is very noticeable when slowing from higher speeds. Now if I can only get her to complain about the ride height, so I can give her my tein basics and buy some stance coils.

snap...I did it again.

I was driving to work a few mornings ago and ended up running over a rock (or possible road crease gone crazy bad). This ended up causing a pinch and small tear on the sidewall closest to the wheel. As of now, there is no air leaking, but knowing the damage is there annoys me, so.....I ended up at Discount Tire Saturday morning and after some consideration left a deposit on a new set of rubber. Well technically one of 2 sets of rubber. I am torn between the BF Goodrich TA/KDW and the Dunlop Dirrezza D Star. My boy is gonna knock down the price, but either set will still run me just over $600 after taxes and install. That is not the issue. I am torn between the known performance and short lifespan of the Dunlop or the unknown but equally well regarded BFG. So basically my question is, is anybody running the BFG, and how does this particular tire wear I am going to be running a 235/40 R17 front and rear on 9" wheels if that matters. I generally drive like an old lady 90% of the time and my alignment settings allow for good even wear without rotation.

Help!!!! with wheel part...newbie!!

I have a 1991 Q45. I am a female who knows very little technically about cars so please bear with me as I try to explain my problem. While driving yesterday I noticed this horrible feeling in the rear like I had lost control and were on a big sheet of ice. The weather is NO where near freezing however the ground was slightly damp so I knew something was terribly wrong. Once I was able to get off the road I looked at the rear passenger side tire and it looked very crooked. I thought it was coming loose which has happened a long time ago but all the nuts were on tight. A closer look underneath revealed some kind of bar or brace that connects the tire to the underside of the car. This brace was completely broken in half causing the tire to wobble freely. Does anyone know the technical name for this part. It looks fairly simple to replace since it is only held on by two nuts, one in either end. I am trying to get an idea of how much this part will cost but I have no idea what it's called. I took a picture of it hopefully I can load it here. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 98-Infinity QX4 and the rear suspension bottoms out very easy, I replaced the rear shocks but it continues so I now think it's the rear coil springs.I have check a couple of auto parts stores and they don't carry the springs so I went to the dealer and I can get them from them but they were expensive, but I was really wondering is1) Does someone else (not infinity) make a better spring Do you have their webb address2) Is this something I can do on my back or should I take it to a shop to replaceThanks.

What would look good (and actually fit!) a 2001 i30

I need new tires, figured what better time to buy wheels too Problem is its hard to find actual good examples. My i30 is "Ruby Red", aka dark maroon metallic, so I was thinking a brighter wheel (silver, hyper silver) would work best.I didnt see any members rides of darker colored cars, so its hard to get an idea (except for Tire Racks "view on car" function, but their wheel choices are limited).Im a fairly tame driver........with the occasional "spirited" driving stint. Wheel size isnt a big deal, I think it would make more sense to stay in 16/17" range, but a decent priced 18" could catch my eye. My goal was a year-round set of wheels/tires, so Id be looking at all seasons. Right now for tires Im leaning towards the new Conti DWS, so the tire selection is pretty done. Just the wheel part thats tough.EDIT: forgot to mention im in the northeast, so the wheels/tires will need to run on snow (unless I can pick up a cheap set of snows which probably aint happenin this year)Thanks in advance.-Chris

My i30 is "Ruby Red", aka dark maroon metallic, so I was thinking a brighter wheel (silver, hyper silver) would work best.
I didnt see any members rides of darker colored cars, so its hard to get an idea (except for Tire Racks "view on car" function, but their wheel choices are limited).
Im a fairly tame driver........with the occasional "spirited" driving stint. Just the wheel part thats tough.
EDIT: forgot to mention im in the northeast, so the wheels/tires will need to run on snow (unless I can pick up a cheap set of snows which probably aint happenin this year)
Thanks in advance.
-Chris

Reviews Comments for Cooper Zeon 2XS

I know that many think the Cooper name straddles a fine line between off-brand and a good name, but it is exactly because of their status as a low-key brand that I can't find any damn reliable reviews since they aren't carried by TireRack or DT.Anyway...They are absolutely the cheapest new tire I could find in 245-35-19 which surprises me because based on subjective accounts they are actually pretty decent tires. Does anyone on here run these tires If you do, please tell me what type of use you put them through, what size you have, and differentiate how you think they perform in dry/wet. If you have used another common tire, i.e. a direzza or zri that you can use as a comparison that would also help me out.

Good stretches on a 15x8.5/15x9.5 set of OG Centerlines

I found a nice set of authentic centerlines from the junkyard a few weeks back, but the tires were shot as usual. The wheels were on an old school Celica (4x114.3). I've fitted the wheels on my coupe prior to check fitment. The 15x8.5 clear flawlessly in the front (necessitating a good fender roll and without a need for spacers). The rears however definitely need a pull/flare to clear (the 15x9.5 in the back space out nearly 2 inches passed the rear fenders). Now I'm just experimenting since I work at a tire shop. I just wanted suggestions as far as what tires any of you believe I should stretch on these guys before I sell the car. I'm definitely open to suggestion, because I'm only building my coupe to sell it. I was thinking maybe 195/50/R15s on all four, 205/50/15 on the 9s and the 195/50/15s on the 8s. Just for giggles I even looked up at 155/60/15 from the Smart Car. Anywho, suggestions Thanks for the input!

Creaking Noise on Rear Driver's Side

For the past couple of weeks there has been a creaking noise on the rear drivers's side of my car, it's coming from somewhere around the rear spindle. It makes the noise whenever there is stroke in the suspension...going over bumps, getting in and out of the car, etc. There was this noise and the car was leaning to one side so I thought it was a bad strut, replaced the strut and the leaning is gone but the noise is still there. I've checked all the suspension arms and nothing is loose, I've replaced every link and arm except for the rear lower control arms. When I grab the end of one of the rear lower control arms and pull on it I hear the noise...any ideas Time to replace the control arms

It looks like I could go to 245/40 rubber (same height as stock tires) and still clear, but I know it will be close.
Determine offset, and how to fit new wheels.

So I just snagged these new wheels from a local forum for super cheap. After a quick test fit (After I already bought them) they wheels poke out about an inch or so front and back.I have some JIC Magic coils and some RUCA's, so I've already dumped the car on stock SE's. I don't know if I can make these fit or not. I can post a picture later if needed. Is it possible to make this fit at all, with a roll, pull, and camber Or will I need overfenders If anyone has had the same issues let me know what you did, and how you got this wheel to fit! 15x8 offset unknown. So I figured I'd do some measuring and math. From the face that of the bolt pattern that to the hub to the inside of the wheel is 3 inches. From the same face to the outside lip is 6 inches. Taking into account that the wheel size is actually from tire placement to tire placement, not lip to lip, the measurements should actually be 2.5 inches, and 5.5 inches, to make it an 8 inch wheel.converted to millimeters, thats 203.2 mm wide, 63.5 mm to the inside, and139.7 mm to the outside. With those measurements, that means I have a *NEGATIVE* 38.1 mm offset. If offset were zero... (203.2/2 = 101.6) Actual measurements...(101.6 - 63.5 = 38.1)and (139.7 - 101.6 = 38.1)Does this even make sense I was told the wheel was an American Racing wheel. It is 15x8. Who makes a 15x8 -38 wheel

17" 350z wheels on stock s14 suspension.

Just like the title says. I did alot of searchin, and found these 350z wheels will fit my s14 with no mods to the suspension. Great for me running stock suspension, and wants to keep it that way for auto-x reasons. (auto-x'in on stock wheels) So I bought the wheels today. The wheels are 17x7.5 and 17x8. The rear wheels clear just fine. But the fronts look like the just BARELY clear the suspension. maybe not even. The tire is rubbing along the bottom most coil of the stock setup. I drove it down the highway without looking to make sure it cleared fine. I assumed the threads here and the hundreds of pics Ive seen had no problem with these many people attest to that fact. But after hearing a sound, I went to go check, there was no wear or even mark on the tire itself, after 20 miles of 80 mph driving. My question is, Am I alright to leave the car as is Or should I be looking into 225/45/17 in the front (225/50/17 on right now)Thanks in advancePost edit: It seems like spacers may take care of the problem

Yet another wheel fitment question...I searched FOREVER!!

Okay, after sifting through countless for sale threads, I'm going to be buying a set of wheels next month, and I'm doing a little research. Right now I have Megan Streets & rucas. Everything else is stock. I was looking at some XXR 513 16x8 +0. Will this clear everything and fit w/o a fender roll and/or pull I don't care to raise the car back up if I will need to, it's a little to low to be a DD now. If not, what is the lowest offset that will fit in either a 15" or 16" wheel I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!LINK: http://www.xxrwheels.com/sportmax_513.shtmlEDIT: BTW, I will have about a $1000 dollar budget, so if you all think of something I might like, let me know. I'm not looking to go any bigger than a 17.

I need new tires and your opinions.

The time has come to shell out some cash for some new tires. But I'm a cheap bastard who likes to get the maximum performance for the smallest cost. Currently, I have 16x8.5+27 Kosei K1's with 225/45/16 Yokohama AVS ES100 all around, some of which are showing tread As it turns out, 225/45/16 is not a common size. I should be rocking a 50 profile (which is easier to find since Mustangs usually run that), but I like how my 225/45's look. Here's what I've found on Google in my cheap bastard's price range, so far:-Yokohama Tires - AVS ES100 for $84 From Vulcan Tire Sales-Falken Tires - FK-451 for $90 From Vulcan Tire Sales-Nexen Tires N3000 fot $69 From Discount Tires 2Go I'm leaning towards the Nexen's. Not just cause they're the cheapest, but because some ppl have said that tey perform similar to the Yokohama's. Plus I like the tread pattern So, anybody got input on the Nexen's versus the other two Or any other tires in that price range you can recommend for me

wondering if anybody has been able to make those work in a s13 they're much cheaper than all other 6 pistons calipers out there and would look awesome (aside front the corvette writing) i have steel z32 calipers already with 350z track edition rotors and my calipers are about 1/4 in too small so the pads dont bike on the whole rotor... which are only supposed to be 12 3/4 in so im sure that a 13" and even 13 1/2" can be fitted in my 17" wheels... just wondering if anybody knows or actually has any info about this.

Just new tires and wheels got my S13 coupe lowered to a nice height with coilovers but right now I am rubbing the fender liner up front when I make a wide turn. Tires are 215/45 on 17x7 wheels with 38mm offset. No spacers yet. Should I ditch the fender liner and roll without it Iwanted to keep them if possible and keep my ride height as is. Or would spacers help

q45 Brakes on 93 240sx 4lug

Alright guys, I know this has been posted a few times before, but I can not seem to find a definitive answer. I've got the brake calipers from a 90-96 q45 out of a junk yard, and I know that the lines/banjo fittings will bolt up to it just fine (at least from what I hear). However when I tried to bolt the calipers up, they just wouldn't fit. I've read somewhere else that you need the mounting brackets for the calipers, but in a couple threads ( http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/N...rakes and http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/316293 ) it doesn't mention anything about that. Some threads mention the need for the caliper bolts off the q45, others do not. Can someone please straighten me out on this oneI also know that I need to use SS lines as I'll need to trim the heat shield/splash guard/whatever you want to call it. I'm just stating this for the sake of the thread so when someone else searches for it, they have the full answer. Also the issue of the q45 rotors being 5 lug comes into play. I know that my options are to either convert to 5 lug, redrill the rotors to 4 x 114.3, or use 94-00 altima rotors (plus shims because the altima rotors are 6mm thinner, correct). I just want this part verified.I don't mean to beat a dead horse, I just want clarification so I can get these things on and going.

Coilovers/Uneven ride height...help!!!

Ok, so I just got my new coilovers (EMotor USA) installed on my 92 coupe. My first time with coilovers. I was careful to measure them when they went on and made sure they were set to the same height. When I set the car on the ground, the front right (passenger) side sat about an inch higher. Bummer.I have gone back and checked and double checked everything. Camber plates are set identical. The springs are set to the same preload and are the exact same length. Both sides measure exactly the same length on the spring height. When measuring from the mounting plate to the spindle bolts or spring mounts, they are exactly the same from side to side. Tire pressures are identical. No, the car has never been in an accident.Am I missing something Or should I just lower the passenger side, forget about the two sides not being "equal", and move on to something else Theoretically should both sides be identical, or is it common for them to have 1/2 - 1 inch of variance I just didn't want to go forward with something that would be unsafe or damage the car.Any help you could throw a brother would be great.

ROH ZS on S13 Hatch

I had a Z28 with a set of polished ROH ZS's http://www.groupawheels.com/Pr...07bfe (feel free to post the picture, i'm not Mac savvy enough for that ) and loved them. At 17x8.5, -7 offset or 17x9.5, +5 offset I think they would look nice on a S13 hatch. I searched around with no results for pictures or threads. Curious to see if anyone has had any experience with them on a S-chassis. Any pictures would be handy also

front strut/spring clunking while turning

I just put on used megan springs with kyb gr2 in the front did the rears a few days ago with no problem on 89 s13 coupe. So when i go to turn out of my driveway after replacing the fronts i hear a weird clunking noise coming from the fronts i can even feel very small thud from it and its fairly loud. Also if i turn the wheel to the left my alignment shifts to the left if i turn to the right then my alignment shifts to the right. The noise only happens when im going very slow or stopped i think it might of happened maybe once at higher speeds. The car rides fine and feels good just the noise n thud. Idk how many miles are on the springs but i got them from a place i trust.anyone know what could be wrong

S13 Alignment question

Hi, I've read some threads about alignment spec for s13 lately and I am a bit confused by different answers. My question is pretty simple and hopefully some s13 guru can help me out.Does a s13 better to have more camber up front to reduce understeer, or more camber at the rear to gain grip at corner...Somesays s13 is better have to more camber up front, but some say RWD car should always have more camber at the back to gain more control.I mainly use my car for DD and will see 1-2 Track days once in a while.I am learning to drift now but only mess around type instead of really in to it.Hope you guys can give me some advise because I am about to do my alignment soon!Thank you very much
