I was wondering if anyone out their would know how to wire a vg30de into another wiring harness. What needs to be hooked up and what doesn't. My b2200 doesn't have a heater or a/c. I have the ecu harness but I don't have a lower alternater harness or the starter harness. Thanks

Nissan techs please help--Which VQ do I have

I bought a VQ and 6spd a this spring to put in a Z. Changed my mind and am now putting it in a 240SX S14. Here is my problem. It has the right manifolds and looks just like a VQ from a 2003 G35 like I was told it came out of. It even has the G35 plastic intake manifold cover. The Guy I got it from got from a guy who was going to put it in a Dune buggy or something. It has a fan clutch on the front. To my knowledge, all VQs came with electric fans except possibly the pathfinder but the ones I have seen have a different intake maifold. Maybe the fan clutch was added for the dune buggy application. Any Ideas how I can tell for sure what I have I tried to post a picture of my VQ but couldn't figure out how to do that.

Maxima MAF issues... IAT... IAC...

Hey all!Ok so here's my dilema. I am looking to replace my MAF on my 95 Maxima GTR... lol i know you guys want to know what that is so here's a link to see it. OK, my car stalls and idles around 600rpm. I am running 25lbs of fuel with a stillen regulator and spark something or other (on the vehicle). I know stock pressure is 34psi but when i put it up too high it floods... My MAF was cleaned by me 3 times with the cleaner and i have had good results. It's gotten worse and my thought is to replace the MAF because it's common.Someone told me that if i replace it i should change it to either an E60 or N60 and possibly change/clean the IAC as well. What's the diffrence in those MAF sensors Will i have to change pigtails if i swap themI was told there is a common carbon build up in the IAC that can screw with the idle. IAT has module from ebay on wires (helped but only for a month or so). Please i'm open to ideas before sinking my money into the wrong parts...

all of a sudden engine power went to nothing, then stopped. Left us stranded. Towed to house, checked oit next morning, nothing. had to add 4 quartz. Engine started, but now knocking noise. Knocking went away, I thought WHEW! That was close. I spoke to soon. I started to drive down to get the engine flushed when , boom, same thing. started to loose engine power, then stalled. Stranded yet again. But this time, when it cooled down, NOTE THE TEMP GAUGE WAS FINE) started right up and drove ti home. Still asame issues. Two people with two different answers..1. lower bearings gone. must pull engine to rebuild2. could be timing off, timing chain broke tooth, etc. must rebuild engine.my 03 has zero leaks, but man she sure does burn a lot of oil. just had to add that. I've run full synthetic in her and changed oil regularly.Question 1: Does anyone have step by step directions on engine swapsQuestion 2: Does anyone have a video of engine swapsQuestion 3: Can I put a newer model G35 engine in my 03 Sedan with no modsQuestion 4: I can't believe how quickly it went down, and with out warning! ok, that is more of a statement.I appreciate any help I could get from you guys. My wife and I were laidoff from our jobs, and now this! Please no opinions, just real facts with information. We have to get this thing back on the road. We just fixed the stupid radio/HVAC dash electrical crap that SHOULD BE A RECALL! After three OEM radio replacements, we decided to replace the unit with aftermarket! SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT A LONG TIME AGO! This fixed all the electrical problems. My current G35 has a few aftermarket mods: Plenum spacer, AEM cold Air Intake, Complete cat back Stillin dual exhaust. slotted/drilled roters, etc., etc.,

Since the internals of the early RWD & FWD VQ35's block and head are supposedly identical, what accounts for the huge difference in power between cars with weak VQ's (like the Altima and Frontier) versus an '04-'05 era 350ZThe only things that I can think of that will account for the difference in about 40hp would be the RWD's intake manifold might flow better and the RWD's ecu is set up more aggressively. Anybody know anything else that may be a reasonUltimately, I'm using this info as a basis to decide which FWD VQ's would be best to choose for an s13 swap. Typically, I see that the Altima/Quest/Frontier VQ's are cheaper than the more powerful Maxima VQ's. But if the power can be easily recouped with ecu tuning and swapping on a RWD manifold, making decisions would be even easier...

FS: VQ30/VQ35 header flanges

I have the chance to get header flanges made by a guy with a laser cutter. The would be made of mild steel and be 3/8 in thick. If he goes any thicker the metal would melt. If I have him do a run for 8 to 10 sets the price would be fairly cheap. About $70 for a pair. So if you guys want to make your own headers let me know. Here are pictures of the 1st set I got in today. Please call me at 847-220-3841 or email me atferhan_syed1@yahoo.comI could have them ready to go by the end of next week. Thanks.Ferhan

Hi, problem with misaligned Maxima 1996 VQ30DE crankshaft, pinching REF sensor.

Hi, I am having a problem with the crankshaft pulley. I have a Nissan maxima 1996 with the VQ30DE engine. At the beginning of the problem both my belts were broken so I said "belts broken no problem". When I went under the car I noticed that I could not slip the rear belt (power steering belt) because the crankshaft pulley was pinning the position sensor (REF) which by the way is not aligned with the alternator, air conditioner compressor and the power steering pump, strange. I cranked the vehicle, all of the sudden the crankshaft pulley moved forward about 1/2 inch. To make the story short, the crankshaft screw is not broken ( I verified it and took the crankshaft pulley out and torque it to 98 ft-lb), the position sensor did not read 452 ohms, I replaced it. Put everything back, the crankshaft pulley pinched the sensor again and still the crankshaft pulley is not aligned. Could it be that something is loose inside the engine or the computer is miscalculating the crankshaft's position Please help. Thank you in advance.

2003 VQ35DE Replacement with 2004 VQ35DE

Looking to replace my 2003 Nissan Maxima VQ with a newer engine, my died last week. What are the main differences from the 03 to 04,05,or 06. I see engines listed for the 03 as vin D and 04 as vin B. I do have a 6 spd tranny in it so I'm wondering if that would fit on a newer 04 and up VQ. Any help in this matter is appreciated as I need my car fixed soon and I want to get the right VQ35DE engine for it, preferably something newer with lower miles.

How to tell apart the 350Z/G motors from other detuned versions of the VQ

I just blew the motor in my 350z, so I'm in the market for a new motor. The question for my fellow Nico members is when I find a new motor how can I ensure I'm buying one out of a 350z, and not a detuned version out of another one of nissans cars For example, a VQ out of a G35 sedan which makes 265 hp as opposed to the G coupe's 293 hp.

PLEASE HELP: UNDETECTABLE YET POTENTIALLY SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH ENGINE

Hi guys,I have a 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5S 4dr w/ Manual Transmission (About 23,500 miles)Last Friday (July 31st), I was on my way to the gym on I-495 (Capital Beltway). I hit 5th gear at about 65/70ish mph when all of a sudden every single warning light popped up and the next thing I knew, my car had turned off and I was left without gas, power steering, and power braking. Fortunately, by some miracle, I was able to abruptly pull off and stop, about 1 inch away from a guardrail. The following Monday, I took my Altima to the Nissan dealership. After running several tests, including a high speed test drive on a toll road, they found nothing wrong. Obviously, the last answer I wanted to hear. I then asked if the advanced timing I had recently tuned had anything to do with it, considering if that is not done right can cause bad engine damage and problems. However, the mechanic (who was also the one who did it for me with the Consult III programmer) said -2 degrees is not a big enough tune to cause an engine to stall that way. Besides he added, with the Bully Dog Triple Dog GT Gas Tuner on it's way, I figured I'd just retune everything then. So, now here I am, scared ****less to continue driving my car when I know something isn't right. Ever since that happened, my acceleration sucks and my brakes and steering have been stiffer. I need somebody to help me ASAP. It's obviously not something detectable w/o a "Check Engine Light" so any other ideas Could the Advanced Timing be messing up my engien and if so, should I let the Bully Dog tuner fix everything or is there something else that is potentially wrong with my car. Please helpThanks

I recently bought a 1996 I 30 with a ruined engine. The previous owner had run it out of coolant. I replaced the engine and it runs fine for the most part. The problem is: when sitting at a stop light with the A/C on and the transmission engaged (Automatic) the engine misfires. It logs the code PO400 indicating an egr flow problem. Does the egr temperature sensor contribute to this type of scenario Measuring the resistance through the sensor, it falls slightly below published specs for the temperature. It moves through the resistance ranges smoothly as the engine warms up. I have tested the egr vacuum solenoid and it operates according to the manufacturer's specs.Do these engines have a history of plugging or malfunctioning egr valves (VQ30DE)

VQ30DET Head, Block and Internals pics

Hey guys,Just wondering if there are any pics of a VQ30DET pulled down floating around It would be good to see how they are built to determine the factory internals limitations.I would also like to know if nissan went to a closed deck block for the VQ30DET as I can't remember any turbo nissan engines that didn't have a closed deck. I read that the VQ30DET runs 4psi standard in which case maybe nissan skimped and set the boost low as the cylinders may not hold up to high boost. I'm sure many of you have seen that 500hp R32 with a VQ30DET engine. From what i've heard its still going strong so if its not a closed deck its either very strong some how or it is teetering on the limits of death. Does anyone on this forum read japanese If so it would be great if you could trawl around for additional information and pictures relating to this engine as there seems to be very little information in english.David

Want 500 HP on FWD Block

Looking for 500 Hp Just curious if this would work.I may run meth as well, if there is no possibly way to get a E-85 Map. I have also looked into the Haltech as well, Just need to get PNP harness that will plug into the Maxima's ecu.If anyone has any ideas please feel free to post them. I plan on running a Turbo and probably wanna run at least 12 PSI maybe more. I heard the bottom end should be fine.Wiesco Pistons 8:8:1Tomei RodsCostworth BearingsJWT S1 Cams and Valves or I could go with the GTM Turbo Cams.I have though about Heads but I am not sure yet. I plan to Run at least 16-17 PSI on the turbo I am considering getting. The problem is alot of Maxima guys have trouble getting traction, so suspension work will be needed. Hopefully Tein Coilovers and what not will help that along with sway bars and endlinks etc.Ill probably end up getting slicks as well. If you don't agree with the suspension please feel free to post what you think would be best to get the maximum traction out of this car.

Ok, I am in the middle of a build and need a little advice. I am building my VQ35 for boost. I am using eagle h beams, and wesco 95.5 8.8 /1 pistons. I was wondering how much boost I can run on a stock block, with out sleeving it. Also I have herd of a oil pump upgrade but don't know how or what it is. I will be using the APS fuel system so that will not be an issue. (I hope.) Any advise is great. Thanks!

APS fuel system Good or bad

Hi, I had a engine fire on saturday. My Altered Atmosphere stage one fuel system is now toast. Not the rails or regulator, but about every thing else, (valve covers, injectors, braided lines, CF hood) are in a glob of plastic gunk. Now, insurance company willing, I will be getting the APS twin pump system. Any recommendations on weather it is worth the extra expense on not I'm running a Greddy twin on a stock block but will be going forged in about two months so I think this is the way to go. If any one is using one or installed one I would love to get your feedback. Thanks.

Ok this is my first post. I just saw a VQ35 with VQ30 valve covers on ebay. How can I do this and where can I find a set. Do both sides have a finished look or is the one under the intake plenum unfinished I have spent more time working on my Z than driving it and the one thing that you can't do, is make VQ35 valve covers look good no mater what I do. I appreciate any ideas or advice.

G35 VQ35DE "Best Build" advice/education

So my plans for bringing back my RB25DET from JP are shot, Navsup declined my drivetrain as "house hold goods". Which was to go in a 240sx, i think i died a little when i heard that..But now I'm onto something a little more practicable, a 2003 to 2006 G35, and I have bunch of questions about the VQ35DE. (G35 over 350z because of back seats). Got pre-app for my loan, so don't have a car just yet, still researching, counting on some you alls knowledge to help make a few decision .Which turbo kit is the best I've seen a couple, the turbonetrics ST (5.5k) Vs greddy TT (7.6k) (ceramic turbos... anyone got one how is it) is the turbonetics ST kit really better then any TT kit on the market (so says its' ad) and it's cheaper..How much psi can the stock internals take Which breaks first I heard the rods were the weak point in the VQ. T/F.. education please.I'd like my internals to be able to handle around 25psi at least, safely. If you have had a build like this, which cams, pistons, rods, ect did you use, what did you think worth the $Not really aiming for a specific HP, just trying to get the most out of my $. The G35 is to expansive for me drift or race so it's just a dd, but i can't help tinkering w/ my stuff.don't flame, don't waste your time, or mine, or any other reader, just go rub one out and get one w/ life assuming you have one...my thanks to everyone who adds useful info

I'm doing a FWD VQ swap into a RWD car and need to get a few RWD VQ parts to swap on. I've found plenty of the upper oil pan's available, but I haven't been able to find the RWD coolant pipe. Are these available at the dealer Anybody want to suggest where they go theirs The junkyards around here just want to sell complete engines not parts.James

Which Parts are interchangeable from a VQ35DE 350z to a Pathfinder

Hi Guys,I have been tuning american cars for years but this is my first import. I have a 2004 pathfinder and Im really impressed with the pull from a V6. Is there any parts that would fit from a 350z that would give me a good power gain Maybe the intake plenum assembly something like thatI usually use an apexi AFC and afr gauge and I wonder if it would be worth it as opposed to a unichip. Also I would like to lower it a couple of inches, does anyone make drop springs for them I can seem to find any. Do I need to cut the stock springs Any input would be great. T

Murano VQ35 clunking in valve cover under load

HI guys, I'm fairly new to this board, but I really need all the help from expert Nissan owners/mechanics with my problem. I originally posted the topic in the Murano forum but there are not much Engine experts to help me out. My wife's 2003 Murano recently started to make this clanking/rattling sound under load at about 1200 rpm - 1400 rpm. Others suggested it was the fuel injection dampers(regulators) but that was not it. The sound is a louder clanking. Also, it is not the CVT as I can pinpoint that the sound is coming from the front valve cover. Besides this clanking, the car is mechanically sound....no oil consumption, no smoky exhaust, no nothing...except this clunking under load. The Murano even accellerates smoothly when I nail it from a stop. It runs on 92 octane, new plugs, new filters and Royal Purple Synthetic oil. It only makes this clunking sound under light load at 1200rpm - 1400rpm.This is how I started to troubleshoot. Had the wife start the car with the Parking Brake engaged. Then in Park, with the left foot on the brake pedal had her slowly depress the Gas pedal with her right foot until the revs were at 1500rpm. In Park, with no load on the engine the VQ35 V6 revved beautifully, no clanking, no rattling, just a smooth roar. Next, I had the wife engage the transmission into Drive. While in Drive, I had her slowly raise the revs to 1500rpm. In gear and under load, the VQ35 V6 started to clank at 1200rpm and got louder as the revs went up to 1500rpm. I listened to where the clanking was coming from and it eminated from inside the front valve cover. The cover closest to the radiator. Has anyone who worked on these V6 engines know what's going on What's happening under load in gear Please Help Nissan mechanics My mind started racing to find a cure!!! Is the valvetrain lash adjustable Could a rocker or valve be loose Could the chain tensioner or guide be broken Did a lifter collapse Did the overhead cam flatten a lobeHas anyone run into this issue Please help If you have a diagram of the cylinder head and valvetrain please post the pics. This weekend I will remove the front valve cover, hoping not to find any carnage.....I'm soooo sad.....

ALTIMA SE-R (6MT) TRANS. BEARING NOISE WHILE IDLING

I have my SE-R for about a year, now with about 58k on it. The entire clutch assy. is still all original with no repairs made. I noticed recently when I start the car, and engage the clutch after the revs come down, it starts to make a 'whirring' type of sound, similar to the noise a bad bearing would make. The noise stops as soon as I disengage the clutch. The clutch does not slip at all, and the throw-out bearing would respond oppositely if that was the problem. I took it to AAMCO just for the hell of it and the tech said it sounded like the noise was coming from the trans. itself - could be a bad bearing of some kind in there. Needless to say, its driving me insane and I was just curious if anyone else had a similar problem. Thanks for the help.

Ok S13vq30det guy, or anyone else that knows... What are the transmission options for this engine I did a little bit of research and I know most of these engines if not all came from the factory with automatics. Anyone know if any 5 speeds/6 speeds bolt up to them And also how is the fitment in your S13 If you have it in Any special mods to the engine mounts (aside from new ones) and how are the clearences Shame these engines are so rare, I just thought it would be a good swap because there are counterparts here in the us that you can use to repair them if you need too. Thanks for any info! (oh yeah and how hard is i to wire into the S13)

VQ35DE common problem

just wanted to know if anyone has heard of this before. i heard that the 2 screws holding the butterflies valves tend to loosen up. the screws just get eaten up by the motor and spit out the tail pipe. the real problem is when the vavles fall into the motor. so is this a common problem that vq35 owners should watch out for
