SOHC turns over but wont start HELP!

Alright I got my new KA24E installed in my 1989 240SX and the engine turns over but wont start. I checked the spark plugs and they are firing and when I pull them out they are wet and smell like fuel so I know its getting gas.So i have researched and read that maybe i need to reset the distributor timing because maybe its firing on the wrong stroke but how do i reset itAlso if somebody thinks it may be another problem please let me know. Thanks,Mike

in order to smog my ka24de i need to connect one hose, but where does it go!

okay so i got red flagged by the last place i went to smog my car because some of my emissions lines were disconnected. now i go someplace else and the dude says i just need to connect one hose and he will smog it. its a ka24de in a 1993 coupe. the line that is plugged off, is on the plastic oem intake just before it connects to the bellow going to the throttle body. there are two little nipples, the one to the left is the smaller one, which is the one that is plugged off, and the one on the right of that is larger and i believe goes to the intake mani somewhere. now i just need to know where the hell that little hose goes! ive look at diagrams and looked at every inch of my motor but simply cannot find it. also all of my friends with ka's have that same line plugged off as well. if anyone knows i would appreciate it more than youd ever know. because my reg is up at the end of this month and i need this smog since its my daily!

Dohc swaped

I just picked up my first 240, and the previous owner did a quick swap from Sohc to Dohc 5spd(1991).I noticed that the Breather is not connected, and the line for the FPR was not connected, and the car ran like crap.I fixed those 2 problems, and found another. An exhaust leak at the downpipe (which i have not fixed yet.)My new problem is when i drive the car after coming to a stop the idle rpm get crazy. Sometimes it holds at 700 other times it wants to stall out, but the ecu picks up timing and stumbles again, eventually stalling if i dont give it gas. Ive been doing alot of research on the swap just to gain more information, and found that my connector for my IACV is broken and all emissions are removed, and welded shut or blocked off.(possible cause of the idle problem) Looking at the downpipe he welded it making the downpipe and test pipe together. (I dont remember seeing an O2 sensor here) Upon further investigation, and trying to reset timing and everything else in the book for idle, i decided to look at the ECU. Serial # A11-B47-G73, over at Jim Wolf this is a Automatic Ecu. Could this also be the cause of the strangely Rich rough idle with black smoke and miss-fire'sDrive fine most of the time, sometimes if feels like its getting to much fuel and bogging out if i give it more then half throttle. anyone else having this problem or something like it beforeAny ideas would be good.Sry for the long written first post.

so my friend put a dual cam in a pignose and it has not ran in 3 years till the other day he put the right harness in and i put in a working distributor and it fired up for about 10 seconds. then it died. i tested the spark. its getting spark perfect, i tested the injectors. they are not getting ground signal when cranking. it has two positives (like a positive on the black wire and a positive on the red wire) anybody have any idea what to test next. i was thinking a relay but i have no clue which one. thanks in advance!

KA24DE Head Gasket

So I finally finished my build after a very long time, and I started it up and everything is running great except it is leaking oil from the head gasket. So I pulled off the valve cover and cams and retorqued the head studs and put it all back together and it is still leaking. So basically I'm pretty pissed I got a cometic head gasket. Now I need to remove the head, get it decked again, and get a new head gasket. But the only head gaskets I can find are cometic.Where can I get a cosworth one I looked like everywhere. There are a whole bunch for the sr, but that ain't gonna work for me.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Getting power to the ECI relay and pump fuse but no power to the pump there for no fuel. I have plenty of spark and compression but lacking on the fuel side of that equation.HELP!

Need your help/opinions please

Ok, here's my deal. I'm wanting to get a 240 together to drive on the street. Not having much luck with auto's in my area for like $500 or so that I could work on.Currently, I have 2 240sx's. One is my designated drag car, that has most non essential wiring burnt due to previous owner. Its a 1990 hatchback with everything stock atm. It's going to be a work in progress for when i drop in V8 and everything. The other 240sx, i paid 150 for and its a 1989 5 speed, sport package hatchback, that has a blown engine and previous person took the struts off of it. Was bought to be a donor car for my drag car. Interior is mint condition, with new carpet and headliner to boot.My end goal for a driver is an auto 89-90 with power windows. Sunroof doesn't matter to me, mainly just want the pw's. Would it be that difficult to swap the harness's from 5-speed to auto, and have the power windows The main thing I have is, I've never swapped harness and such so not sure with the 240's if the power options like windows are added on to the stock harness or if theres an additional harness or whatnot added in to accompany the power package. So far, I have yet to find any rust on the donor car except on the hatch, and would like to reuse the shell if its not a complete dire pita to swap it to what I want. Else I'll have to keep looking, and btw I already stripped the creature comforts out of the dragster, we removed the ac, heater core, and anything else behind the dash not needed for the engine to run, so that option is kinda out.

Would it be that difficult to swap the harness's from 5-speed to auto, and have the power windows? The main thing I have is, I've never swapped harness and such so not sure with the 240's if the power options like windows are added on to the stock harness or if theres an additional harness or whatnot added in to accompany the power package.

95 KA24DE EGR Bolt loosening

I need to loosen the EGR bolt on the valve side so I can replace my exhaust manifold gaskets. So far, I've removed the two vacuum hoses in the way, as well as the valve on top of the EGR valve. I can touch the bolt with a wrench, but the little pipe that comes out of the EGR valve gets in the way. Is it possible to loosen the bolt with the valve still on the manifold

Stalling 92c ka24de

Hello all,I am new to posting but have used the site for other help. I can't seem to find anything on this though. I have a 92 KA24de with a manual tranny, swapped into a 90 body. When I start my car in the morning, it likes to stall unless I give it some gas for about 5 seconds. Then when I come to a stop, it wants to stall there too. Once the car has warmed up for about 5 minutes it is fine as well. (Now keep in mind that I am in FL where the temp isn't getting much below the 75 mark.) This is when the idle screw is more than half way in. If the screw is 3/4 or more it is fine. Does it hurt the engine internally if it is open that much If so, what does it do Another thing with the screw, when I try to adjust the idle with the tps harness disconnected, it will not adjust to anything below 900. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Where do all of these bolts go

OK....I really embarressed to have to ask this..but:I am rebuilding my KA24DE for the 1st time in my life. When I took it apart, I made sure that every bolt I took off, I put in an envelope marked with where it came from.Fast forward to 2 months later and I went to look for my bolts. Well...my 4 year old decided he wanted to play with them! Well, I have been looking all over for a list of the bolts and where they go. Mind you I have the REAL shop manual (1,500 +/- pages) for my car AND the Haynes, and they have no such listing. Of course they list the bolt types (which I already know) and their torque ranges. But I need to know where these go...Have you pull yourself up from the floor laughing... please scour your experienced minds and advise if and where I could find such a list. Thanks for any help in the future!

Hello I been having trouble with my S14 KA24DE; Did a complete tune up Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Plug Wires, Coolant Temp Sensor & Fuel Filter.car starts but bogs down then engine cuts out. if I spray starting fluid it runs off starting fluid and idles and revs fine; I even re-wired Kragen Fuel Pump to 12 volts via Relay it runs a little better but once I rev it, engine bogs down and cuts off. also if I unplug the MAF plug idle is higher. not so sure if it is Fuel Pump crapping out any advice Also while engine is running I pulled each spark plug wire off and its sparking also unplugged each fuel injector wiring while its running there is a different also Fuel Pump sounds kinda weird when at the on positionthanks

 Hello I been having trouble with my S14 KA24DE;
Did a complete tune up Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Plug Wires, Coolant Temp Sensor & Fuel Filter.
car starts but bogs down then engine cuts out.
if I spray starting fluid it runs off starting fluid and idles and revs fine;
I even re-wired Kragen Fuel Pump to 12 volts via Relay it runs a little better but once I rev it, engine bogs down and cuts off.
also if I unplug the MAF plug idle is higher. not so sure if it is Fuel Pump crapping out any advice?
Also while engine is running I pulled each spark plug wire off and its sparking also unplugged each fuel injector wiring while its running there is a different also Fuel Pump sounds kinda weird when at the on position
thanks

Ticking noise on Ka24e

I have a 97 kningcab XE with ka 24e engine. Im about to go on a huge roadtrip and noticed that when I start up the engine the is a TICK TICK TIck noise when the engine is idling. I thought maybe it had something to do with the valve clearance but on this engine there is no way to adjust it as they have hydraliic valve lifters. Anyone have any ideas what would cause this noise and if it is a serious problem. The nose is quite noticeable

Crank Pulley DE/E

I'm wondering if the Crank Pulley off the SOHC will be useable on the DOHC. I'm pretty sure when i rebuilt the last motor in the shop, i put the SOHC pulley on by accident. Although it looks the same and fits fine, i just wanted to make sure. Also if they are interchangeable, wouldnt the aftermarket underdrive pulleys be also SOHC underdrives seem to be cheaper for some reason

new guy here

im new to this forum and to nissans. i currently own a 98 sunfire. but ive loved nissans ever since i knew about cars and finally i have the opportunity to own one. A fellow student of mine is selling his 92 240sx coupe, for 1000, it has 147000 miles rust around the wheel wells and some here and there. im getting it here soon hopefully in december. But i was wondering if it would be a smart idea to put a turbo in it even though it has high mileage. my bro says that it will leak a lot of oil if i do since it has high mileage. I want any and all suggestions please. thanks.

KA24E parts fitment.

I've been looking around for an HKS exhaust for my car, I have a '90 240sx with the KA24E. I don't have all the money to swap in the new motor yet so I thought I'd add a couple parts to the car now. However, when I look for exhaust the SR20DET versions are a lot cheaper than a KA motor. I'm talking about the HKS Hi-Power exhaust system. It's $100 cheaper for the SR version over the KA version, it says its a cat back as well. My big question is, will it fit or will I have to mod a couple parts because if it does fit, that's fine and dandy because I can carry it over when the swap goes in. Thanks for your help

KA24DE Powerband- Low power until 6k

Hello all, I have been lurking on this forum for quite a while and rebuilt my 91 ka24de from information on this site. I have attempted to search for a solution to my problem but to no avail. The car has about 8000 miles on the rebuild and runs well, except it does not seem to pull until 6000 rpm. The power difference is very sudden when it does kick in. I know the stock range of power seems to be between 4500 ~ 5500 rpm. My question is, Is there any reason for it to act like this Is there anyway to adjust the power band to a more reasonable rpm range If someone could please suggest anything i might be able to try, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks allCar specificska24de rebuiltEGR removed2.5" exhaust- no catStock timing etc.

ok you guys are more of an expert at this tell me what you think

I took my car to the shop to ask them if they can do a swap for me on my crippled ka24de. I am thinking about getting a jdm motor like an sr20det or something of the sort but the guy was telling me that for the price i could be able to get the same power out of the ka just by doing a rebuild on it. My concern is what little components might be wrong with my motor is it worth trying or is the jdm motors a pretty safe bet
