So I have a jetta, that I owe $4,800 on. My guess is that I could probably sell it for $3,700 max. I really want to get rid of this car and get another 240. I really miss my old hatch, anyways I was wondering what there was to do, b/c I am just tired of this damn jetta. I bought it just b/c I needed a good car at the time. I now can't stand to look at the thing, it just makes me mad when I look at it and I know I owe $1,000 more than what it's actually worth. I want to get out of this car and in a 240sx asap! Any suggestion on what I can do, or what you would do if you were in this situation?

I am looking to purchase a 2007 M45, with less than 25k miles. Most of the ones I would purchase tend to be at non-Infiniti dealers or are private sales. So I am wondering, if I were to purchase from a non-Infiniti dealer will the balance of the warranty transfer to me? Also as an aside, if I were to do a private sale, how or does sales tax come into play?

Just talked to a local dealer today and was able to come up with the following:

2009 Nissan Sentra FE+ S w/ convenience package, floor mats(ha!), alloy wheels, side moldings and splash guards

Price including all taxes, titles and fees: 16,000, after my clunker trade in: 11,500

Dealer still refuses me to show a buyer order but I know it includes a $299 "processing / doc fee" that I can't get them to budge on.

So, this a deal or not? KBB value is 16,700 and MSRP is 17,635 after rebates (21,135 with out).

If not a slick deal, at what price do you think?

Insurance is a real pain when it comes to these older cars especially the 240sx. The car I'm trying to get is a 97 240sx s14. According to the Cali Blue book its only worth 3000$ but with all the mods and stuff it comes close to 9000$. 250$ a month with collision damage. So pretty much if you get into an accident your pretty much f***ed. What are your guys input on insurance and is it usually this high for older cars?

I have a 92 SC400 and I have a screeching noise coming from the engine. It is really loud. When I rev to 2000rpm the noise starts. I have replaced the belt, various pulleys, I have a new alternator and new power steering pump. I think the noise is coming from the front of the engine because I have taken off the belt and started the car and the noise disappeared. I have gone to 3 mechanics and none of them have been able to locate the origin of the noise. Also when I apply dressing to the belt the noise goes away for a short period of time but always comes back. Sometimes it comes back in 5 seconds other times in a minute. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

is there some way to buy the car under my name but put the insurance under my mom to save tons of money?
how old do you have to be to get collectors car insurance and how any mles can you drive a year?
they say you cant drive on the track but how would they find out and if they did what would happen?
you can also drive on the track without insurance right, you just have to tow it there.

Im looking at buying a 96 240sx rb27det swap for 6500. It has rust on the battery tray and right below that but thats it really.... It sat under a deck on concrete for 12 months. It also has driverside rear damage needs a light and that back panel.

Besides these problems it needs about 1k to get the interior up to snuff.(both switches ebrake boot radio bevel a gauge and seats)

Would you do this? the motor has a good amount of work in it z32 maf 300zx fuel pump weisco pistons and some other goodies.

I have seen it and started it and sounds almost like it has a lifter problem but could be due to 14 month old oil. And if not how expensive is a topend rebuild?

I'm looking to buy a B13 Sentra SE-R and I came across a '91 SE-R with an SR20DE+T. The guy said there are a few problems he can't really figure out and is looking to sell with or without the motor. He told me $1700 and I can take the shell off his hands. I feel that's very steep since the only thing I'd get out of it is rims and a short throw shifter, maybe a different head unit. The car is in excellent shape, can't find any rust on it and the paint looks very good besides a few scuff here and there.

So my question is, how much are SE-R shells going for? I've seen turbo'd SE-Rs going upwards of $6000 with many other mods done to it and I can't see myself paying more than $1200 or even $1000 for a rolling chassis.

Hey guys, So I have had my s13 hatch for about 5 years now and the urge to add an s14 to the family has taken over. Since I have been out of the 240 market for a while and with the drift tax and all I wanted to get some advice from you guys. I found a 1998 kouki se w/ 165,000 miles, autotragic (will be fixed immediately), clean body (one lil dent on the rear quarter), Clean interior, and the previous owner was not a Paul Walker. The price I have is $5,000. What do you guys think?

I am getting ready to buy another car now. When gas prices were $4 plus, I was really thinking about buying a hybrid. Now with gas prices back down to $2 or less, should I.

I understand the environment situation, however with the cost of a hybrid being $5k plus more, I will never make the money back over the life of the 4-5 years I am going to keep the car.

So any feedback of your experience owning a hybrid, or why I should or shoulnt would be appreciated.

So i found myself wondering..what does everyone look for when they are looking at buying a car..i know personally i am always checking rust since i live in the midwest and the salt doesn't get much worse..another thing i check is oil filter and plug wires cuz i figure the better grade of stuff on this car the more this person cared about it so it probably has better maintneance history..add on more

I have a Nissan 240SX SE convertible for sale. It is a 1992 with only around 112,000 miles. Not too bad in my opinion for 16 years of driving. I purchased it about two years ago from a private owner. At the time it had just under 100,000 miles. It is automatic transmission, tan leather interior, rwd, power windows, power locks, power controlled convertible top, has cd player with am/fm radio, and has a spolier. It is in good condition. The motor to the top was replaced only two years ago. I replaced the water pump about a year ago, and I just put a brand new set of tires on it only two months ago. It runs great. I drove it back and fourth between the Dallas area and Lubbock, TX over the past two years to attend school and it was reliable the entire time. However, it needs a little work appearance wise. The body is great, but the top is weathered slightly and the back window is in very poor condition. I have tape on large tears in the window and it is completely fogged up providing absolutely no clarity to see through while driving. As far as the interior, the leather is worn in both the front seats (driver and passenger) and there are two small rips in the driver seat. Taking the cons into consideration, although they are mostly cosmetic, I wonder how much I should ask regarding price. It is a limited edition. It has great potiential to be worked on and made up into an even faster vehicle. Thanks for any advice!

Thinking about a trade, tough call

So unfortunately I have to part ways with my car because i cannot drive RWD in winter. So I have had my car posted for a while and i have several good offers and interests. One person wants to trade his 98 Talon for my 91 240SX.
I know alot of problems arise with this car so I'm very hesitant, cause this has to be my daily driver. So here it goes...
98 Eagle Talon AWD Turbo stock. Motor has 4k on it, Chassis has 135k. When he built the motor he replace the bearings, upgraded to a 6 bolt main, new rings and seals, including valve seals. Added hamonic balancer eliminator? (I dont know if that sounds right or not but something with tha balancer) And added a coilover suspension. For the most part he left it stock. Engine is mechanically sound and it has a new trans, new clutch, master cylinder, with steel braided lines. Has perfect compression and oil pressure. He said he would put a 12k mile warranty on it. He wants 6k for it.
If i were to trade him, mines going for 2k, stock with a few add ons nothing big, it would be 4k. he would finance it through his truck cuz he is a tool guy and i would pay it off like a tool box with no interest. $50 a week till its paid off.
How does that sound? What do you guys think cuz it seems like a good deal, only i heard alot of bad things about DSMs. But with those upgrades, That should eliminate those problems right? Help me out let me know what you guys think and if you know or experienced any problems with these cars let me know. I want to be sure of this.

Hi Everyone,

New to the boards. Currently own a Murano. Overall impressed with it. Minor quirks that still exist like CD skipping that I've learned to live with. But like Nissan styling and overall quality.

So, here's my question. I have $25k to spend. I can get a used 2006 Infiniti M35x (less than 30k miles) or a new loaded 2008 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL. Which one should I get?

- Wife, baby and I car pool every day to work/day care. 70 miles roundtrip.
- Baby costs me money so I'm looking for a dependable car.
- Dont want to get socked with maintenance/repair costs.
- Insurance is only a difference of $4.

Tough decision to make so I'm hoping the Infiniti owners can give me some guidance as I know what to expect from Nissan.

as you can see it needs a lot of work. I drove the car already and the engine feels pretty strong, doesnt smoke and though the oil pan is wet the oil leak is not that bad. so, is this a good find or should i keep looking?

I'm looking to purchase an I30, and there are two in my area (Sacramento) that I'm considering:

#1: I30 Limited, Black Obsidian over Black, $5500
104,000 miles.
Had an accident at the gas tank area (been told it was only cosmetic damage). Also will need a new tire because tire shop gave them one bad tire.
2 owners, 2nd owner has had it for only 8 months.
Some scrapes on the front and rear bumper, and the hood looks like it needs to be polished.

#2: I30 Touring, Autumn Bronze over Sage, $5100
149,000 miles with all service records.
Will need 150,000 tune-up very soon.
Accident history unknown.
Original owner.
Normal wear-and-tear on body (rock chips, door dings, etc), well-detailed.

I'd much prefer the I30 Limited because of its black over black combination, but there has been an accident at the gas tank area and I do not want to deal with any problems that may arise (is this at all possible?). The I30 Touring seems to be very well taken care of, but it has high mileage and I don't like the interior or exterior color.

I have already test drove the I30 Limited, and have made an appointment to see the I30 Touring next weekend. I may also plan to take both I30s to be checked by a mechanic.

Which one would you purchase, and why?

hello! just wanted to get some advice regarding our plan to get an 08 qx56. our loc al infinity dealer is actually offering us a demo car with 8,042 miles on it..they are asking for a 1k down and 869/month for 72 months. they will however payoff the remaining balance of our current lease with nissan worth $6,569. the qx56 is in pretty good shape....

This is a selling/buying car question, and I thought that there would be somebody here who would be able to answer my question.

I'm selling my 95' 240SX. My dad said that when he picked up the car for me, he had to sign a basic used car buyer/seller contract from the seller of the car. I've had a about 6 or 7 people interested in the car and one of the people who is interested in the car is coming the meet me near my house to look at the car in about a week. I told my dad this and he told me about the contract that he had to sign, and told me to get one.

My question is: Does anyone know where I can download a FREE used car sale contract? If you cannot get them for free, can anyone tell me where to buy a cheap one? It doesn't have to be the most solid contract ever, I just want a basic contract for legal purposes.

Also, I would need a bill of sale. I'd just like a free or cheap bill of sale also.

I would also be happy to hear about any other useful steps in selling a car, if you have any.

Overall Sales Price: $36,700

According to Edmunds the MSRP on the car is $40110 and the Invoice price is $36530.
Also, there are a couple of charges for $249, and $354(dont know what they are, since I dint

There's already talks of a recession... is there any good cause to believe that the recession

will reduce the prices(infi.), if so how long before it happens? Is it worth the wait and

Also, I am currently leasing a G35 coupe('06) that I need to return mid-April 2008 for which

all payments have been made(I have the habit of over-paying a little every month when the

Whats up guys....I found a 240sx se for sale and the guy said he would do a trade for my civic and $1500 and i dont know what to do. My car is a Civic 98 coupe 140,000 miles. It has a cold air intake,automatic start, cross drilled rotors and recentely got some falkens on it but it does have a couple dents on the the door. The 240 is bone stock with 107,000 miles it has a few scrathes on the bumper but overall clean. Thanks for the help!

Insurance: Totaled/Salvage Question

Alright folks, we've had a member post in the Sentra section regarding a Spec V that insurance says is totaled. He says that somehow the title is still clean, as the insurance company has never taken possession of it. I fail to see how this is possible. If they claim it's totaled, doesn't it automatically become a totaled car, and if he were to fix it, it'd have a salvage title?

I suspect it's totaled because it appears that the radiator core support is not at all where it's supposed to be, and frame work isn't cheap.

I don't know jack about insurance, and generally I don't care, but this has me intrigued.

hi, sorry about the long post, but it was quite a story.

i was at planet nissan in vegas on monday and would just like to let you know of my experience there. when i arrived i was greeted by a sales person and asked what i was looking for. i said that i was interested in an 07 versa, but that i was just looking and definitely not making a decision or purchase this day. i said that we have a vehicle that is over 8 years old with over 100k miles on it and that we were thinking of maybe getting rid of it. the sales guy said that this is just fine and told me to come along, so he can show me the 07 versas that were left. we finally arrived on the back were i looked at a blue sl, which i really liked, i got the key, sat in it, looked it over from all angles - the usual thing. the price i was given was very good too.i declined the offer for a test drive, because i would want my wife to come along to that too. we live about 2 1/2 hours away, so i said that - if we decide to test that car and then get it - we would have to come back on the weekend. back at the office he introduced me to his boss, who asked me if i wanted to crunch o few numbers, considering my trade-in and so. i told him too that i was just the scout, looking at the car and that i would have to talk it over my my wife - which was fine with him too. eventually we sat down and talked about my trade-in and the price of the versa. i was also told that the best day to be here again would be friday, because that is the last day of the month, and i might even get an even better deal. the sales person told me he would be in contact with me within the next 72 hours and i left, not without making clear again that i was very interested, but not sure about taking the car.
the next day i got a call from the sales guy telling me that we should come on friday, because it is the last day of the month and the incentives might not be given on saturday any more. i said that i will talk it over with my wife this evening and call him back wednesday or thursday. so we did and came to the conclusion that even though it was a good deal for the versa and the trade-in we would still hold on to the car we have for now and i was going to call the sales person on thursday about it.
then on wednesday night after 8 o'clock i got a call from him asking about when we will come for the car and i told him that we decided not to through with the purchase - that's when his tone and the volume of it changed. he said that all it takes to buy a new car would be a pen and balls and that i came to him, stole 1 1/2 hours of his time, made him believe that i would buy the car and then tell him i wouldn't. he said that i have no character, that i should go back to where i came from (which is germany) and hung up.

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a 240 but it seems that insurance is just way too much for me. I live in Ontario and I have my G1, I quoted a 1992 240sx and the rates were 330$ a month. This seems like way too much haha.

new car loan impact on FICO score

I'm recently debt free and the last time I pulled my FICO score it was 763 (at the time I pulled my score I had $10K of credit card debt). I'm sure my score is a little better now.

I've got the new car bug (thinking about '08 G sedan) but I'm also looking to purchase a house or condo in the next 2-3 years. Will having an outstanding car loan at the time I apply for my mortgage affect my FICO score and possibly raise the interest rate on the mortgage?

I've gotten the advice before of "buy a house, THEN buy a car" but that's not feasible now since I want to have a big down payment for the house (prices have yet to drop significantly in Atlanta area.... still inflated from real estate frenzy). I can keep the old Q running for a year or two but I'd rather retire it as a backup car.

Also, will an outstanding car payment affect the value of the house I can buy? I've heard people say they were told "you can afford a $1800/mo mortgage payment, but since you have a $600/mo car payment I can only approve you for a $1200/mo mortgage payment." Any truth to that?

I am looking at buying a 1993 Nissan King Cab, 2 wheel drive, 4 cyclinder, 180,000 miles on it, for $2000.00. Is this a pretty favorable price for this year of truck? My uncle is selling it to me and I don't want to pay more than what its worth. Although I have been testing driving it all week and the truck has been growing on me. Any of your advise would be greatly appreciated.

first of all i had a 2006 prius hybrid i loved my car but i let my husband rule the house and one day he said lets trade in the hybrid in case it ever tears up i couldnt fix it i thought it was mean but i let him rule as usual so we traded it in and they offered us a 2007 dodge dakota slt quad cab 2 wheel drive red truck i did not want it but my husband said we needed 2 trucks he has hisself a 2000 dodge dakota extended cab quad cab 4 wheel drive truck so i said sure we have had it 3 whole months and i severly hate it i want a car , he knew this so we took it to the dealership in henderson ky and they offered me a 2007 black pontiac G6 it was nice and i like it then they let us test drive it for 3 days and then they called us yesterday with the payment amount 53 dollars more than we were paying which hurt us and then they claim we have to pay 928.00 in tax title and license and then to beat it all they said 1200.00 down payment isnt that a little stupid since our truck was our down payment , i mean they got us a loan to pay of 23,000 for the truck payoff and then we gave them the trucxk to resell and then they want to charge us all of this is this right and tomorrow we go up there to do all of this how can we get out of the tax titel and license and the down payment can you help us know if were cbeing screwed we dont want to get another personal loan to pay that help us know what to say tomorrow?

I bought a car on E-bay a few months ago and got their "Autocheck" before buying. It came up good and I bought the car. Recently I bought a Carfax and a accident showed up on it. I was pissed because I was planning on reselling soon when I found a car that I really wanted. I contacted them and this is one of the replies I got.

"I understand your frustration. Our BuyBack insurance assures you that we have all the information that is recorded for this vehicle with the DMV. We do not however cover accidents. If you have any further questions, please let me know."

So if your buying a car------CARFAX is the only way to go!!!

Hey guys and gals,

After searching through the forums on this site for the past 2 months, I finally registered, and made my decesion on what cars I would like to purchase. I am torn between a few models. I know all the pro's and con's to the models I like, as well as the "choose whats best for you" decesion that people normally say.

Here is the dilemma: I still do not know which vehicle I want and am torn between the Nissan Altima coupe, 350z, Infinity G37 or '07 G35. I have test driven the 350z and the G35 and loved them both. I have not test driven the other two and wont be able to due to the fact that I am overseas, and I wont be able to come home until January. The problem is, I have to buy the vehicle next month. I love the way all the vehicles look, and everyone has said great things about the performance of these vehicles on the different forums however I feel that the forums are biased to those specific vehicle. My father has PoA and is making the purchase for me. I only have $15k to put down on the vehicle, and I should recieve $7-10k for my current vehicle (paid off). I was just wanting some advice on someone who has driven more than just one of the vehicles to give me some insight, so I can make a determination on what to purchase. Should I go with what I know and purchase the G35/350z and be dissapointed if I go back and test drive the other two and like them more, or take a chance and do the unthinkable "buy without driving" (gasp). Any advice would help. Thanks

After reading about the recent rash of damaged G's, I have a few questions about insurance. Like most of you guys, I have a lot of money invested in mods. What I would like is that if the G is ever a total loss, I want the insurance company to cut me a check for the previously agreed upon amount. Those with show cars must have a similar policy...some of those cars are 3-4 times more valuable than the blue book price of a stock car.

Does anyone have this sort of insurance policy?? If you do, how did you get it? USAA doesn't seem to offer it.

If you buy a car from a private party with a car loan from the bank can you still write on the registration application that you bought the car for a dollar so you don't have to pay taxes or do they check it with the bank loan somehow?

Have a situation concerning an insurance settlement, and I want to do a reality check before diving in.

Several weeks ago, several of my cars were vandalized when someone sprayed paint stripper on them. Date was May 15, 2007. I have full comp & collusion coverage with $100.00 deductibles.

The insurance company sent out a couple of appraisers and gave me written estimates for the damage.

The insurance company has a preferred body shop chain in my area. This body shop gives a discount on labor rates to the insurance Co, and gives their customers priority service.

I had this body shop write estimates on the cars without showing them the estimates from the insurance company. However, I told body shop which insurance company was covering the damage, so they knew whom they were dealing with for the insurance coverage.

All of the body shop estimates came in at some 40% to 50% higher than the insurance co estimates. On my truck the difference is almost $5,000.00!!

When I asked the insurance adjuster to help me understand, they simply said that they were going to stick with their estimates.

If the body shop estimates are used, the damage exceeds the value of the cars and will probably total the cars.

Also, instead of repairing all the cars, I am thinking of discounting the price of the cars and selling them with the damage. In this case, I would want a cash settlement instead of having the cars repaired.

As of June 01, 2007, the insurance company refused to renew my coverage and I am now with another company.

Looking for advice from someone who has been there and done that, or is an attorney and works with this type of claim.

If I go to court and ask a judge for the full amount of the bids from the body shop, pointing out the insurance companies pattern of low balling their bids by some 40% to 50%, do I have a good chance of winning or am I stuck with the low-ball estimates.
