92 stock radio help!

My radio is driving me nuts. Its the stock version that came with the car back in 92. Recently---and i think it has something to do with the alarm---its been cutting off by itself and I cannot turn it back on unless i turn the car off then back on. the green dnr light comes on and there is a humming sound in the speakers when the radio goes off. I noticed this happens more so when my headlights + fog lights are on.Any ideas

Coolant boiling, oil gone

I have a 91 240sx with a t25, built bottom and top end. Just got the motor done, and the person who helped me install said my oil seals for the turbo needed to be replaced and it would prolly smoke a little bit... but would be ok for a few months.... I was hesitant about taking the car. On my 3rd time driving it, my car started smoking from the engine bay on the way home. I pulled over and noticed a huge puddle of oil under my engine.. and the coolant was boiling forever. Checked my oil and it was gone. I'm thinking my turbo seal went. I had the car towed home... filled up the oil to see if it would be leaking from anywhere. I didnt notice it leaking and tried to start it up. the car won't turn... Is my motor toast now Any suggestions

Ca18det with extra block and head f/s NJ 1500

ITEM:ca18det engine with extra block and headPRICE:1500 SHIPPING:noDESCRIPTION: The ca18det is complete except for a turbo. It has 98,000 km(61k miles) on it. The Engine it self is in great mechanical condition. It was taken out to be transplanted into another car, but the cars just getting a stock ka. Details are as follows:-New timing belt and water pump(nissan parts)-Blitz blow off valve-Arc Front mount intercooler that uses the stock side mount piping(no battery relocation necessary)-Nismo engine and trans mounts-Complete engine harness converted for s13 240sx. No trans harness(i used a slightly modified ka harness)-Mines ecu tuned for stock fuel system and stock turbo at .9 bar-Stock turbo manifold as well as ebay stainless tubular manifold-Resurfaced flywheel with Spec stage 3 clutch-Extra complete short block-Extra head minus cams-80mm downpipe-4 extra coils-extra ignitor-silicone radiator hoses The engine ran great when it was in the car. Started up the first time every time. It had a stock turbo running at .9 bar and it ran great. Turbo was taken off an sold when the engine was pulled. There are only 2 issues with the engine. Number one was with cold idle. This is a well known issue with ca18's and other 80's nissans with the 1st gen eccs system. To fix the issue the air regulator and possibly the idle air control valve will need to be sourced and purchased(most likely from a japanese source). The second issue isn't really and issue but it needs to be mentioned. When the engine was bought the flywheel bolts were stripped int he back of the crank. The threads in the crank where tapped for 7/16x20, the stock flywheel bolt holes were drilled for 7/16 and grade 8 bolts are used. Haven't had any problems in the 2 years I've run the ca. The short block I'm including was also from a perfectly running car, so if you ever want to rebuild the engine for some crazy setup, you should use the extra block since it's flywheel bolt holes aren't drilled.I will also include the gauge cluster than came with the engine, with the correct 7500 rpm redline, if you have a 91 - 94 240sx cluster to trade for it.
Better brakes for a Frontier

I am looking into upgrading the stopping power of my brothers Frontier. It is an '07 or '08 SE model. The truck is daily driven, but we use it on weekends to pull a small (horse) trailer. It's a single axle light duty box that unfortunately is not equipped with a brake. While the truck seems to stop okay, it is very obvious the stock brakes don't like the extra weight. The symptoms include weak stopping and some brake fade after a couple of consecutive stops. I have been to the dealership and did not really get any usefull information other than "we can inspect the braking system".If anybody has any usefull suggestions, I am all ears. If not I thank you anyway.

199 240sx automatic transmission

Okay, so i bought a used transmission from a guy and I need some help with a hole. Someone stole my old one i had laying out in my yard so i have nothing to compare it to. It is a hole next to where the driveshaft slips in the tranny and it is on the left side i believe. I can see the gears from it and its about the size of a quarter. My 240 had electronic speedometer but i think this hole might be for a speedometer cable. Does anyone know if that is what it is and then I should just be able to plug the hole w/ something

How comfortable is your G37x

Long story short, I'm seriously considering trading in my 2009 IS250 AWD for a G37x sedan. The interior of the 250 is causing unbelievable amounts of pain to my right leg. I'm aware of the financial losses for such a move, but life is too short to stay a pissed off Lexus man forever. Must move on...[See my other post: http://forums.g37driver.com/zerothread/434225 ]So I'm curious to know how those of you driving the G37x are doing How tall are you guys/gals How are your leg and feet doing after short and long drives How are your lower backsHow about the passengers in the passenger seat and rear seatsAnything NEGATIVE on the G37x that you wish Infiniti would addressMy other choices are the Acura TL w/SH-AWD with manual transmission (coming out later this year, despite its front beak styling) and the BMW 3 xi series (which I do not favor due to reliability issues).

CA: SOCAL, 240sx s13 hatch with rebuilt sr20det

I got a lot of questions on this one the last time I posted it but no one bought it. I'm moving out this time and I dont have time to do much other then sell it. if it doesnt sell its going to the junkyard I am selling it for $1100.This is NOT OBO as the price I am placing on it is already really cheap. (I could get more money parting it out if I had time...but I dont)Make/model/trim: Nissan 240sx hatchbackYear: 1989VIN: JN1HS36P2LW108062Mileage: 172,463 (on chassis)Engine Type: SR20DETTransmission Type: Manual (5 speed)Mods:Engine/tranny:Blitz intercooler, custom piping, blitz bovadjustable/gauged FPRmanual boost regulator (placed at 10psi boost)custom metal radiator linesshort shifterApexi N-1 exhaust (3in)suspension/wheel:tein S-tech springstokico blue shocks18in Damani rims in the rear (set of 4, 2 spares for track days)15in Infiniti G20 rims (gunmetal) in the front (set of 2)interior:Gutted interiorharnessesbattery relocation kit (in trunk on passenger side)boost/water temp/voltmeter gauges5in tachometer and shift lightairbag removed (for track reasons)exterior:all bumper padding removedrear/front bumpers zip tiedI also have a veilside rear bumper and 20mm overfenders that I will throw in IF they havnt sold by the time the car is bought.Flaws: This car definitely needs some work. Most importantly there is a water leak in the engine bay, I have roughly located it and its right at the firewall. it will need to be fixed before driving the car.The entire wiring for headlights, taillights, turn signals and other lights needs to be redone. I had them all on switches on the dash but stopped driving it on the street (track only) so I didnt bother when they went out (the registration is valid, even though no street driving was done). The headlights are dual sleepy eyed on custom built frames (one frame is missing in the picture but I have both) and one side (the side missing)'s headlights broke so will need to be replaced.the fuel pump has given out recently (as i had someone test drive it)There are other small problems on this car, it basically just needs some TLC to get it back into racing shape, and I have not had the time to do it as I have a 3 other cars to care for.-Its story is pretty simple. I bought it from a company called Vegasdrift based in Las Vegas. It was a professionally drifted car alongside a green AE86 that the couple also owned.-I took it home and drifted it for 2 years, both canyon and track. -I nosed it into a canyon wall one night on Yerba Buena canyon in Los Angeles and wrecked the front headlight, tire and fender (lost silvia conversion IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.nicoclub.com/forums/images/smilies/cry.gif" BORDER="0" )-After that I placed the odd combination of black hood and bumper and red fenders and headlights and for good measure took off the rear bumper (body kit) and replaced it with a stock black bumper (I have the rear bumper, veilside kit and I can give it with the car as its just gathering dust)-About 3 months after that I stopped driving it on the street and took it only to the track (mostly willow springs balcony and horse thief mile)And for the last chapter so far written of its life, the engine got rod knock and had to be taken out and rebuilt, and now the car is being sold for someone else to write the next chapter. (I have LOTS of pics of the rebuild)Here are some pics of itI need it sold so I am asking $1100 of it...way too cheap for my taste but it has to go and I'd rather it go to a home then to the junkyardThis price is NOT OBO as it is already low.My email is: blackdragon328@hotmail.commy verizon phone is: 805 729 7265my AT&T phone is: 510 520 3473I prefer my 510 phone, but will try to answer all. I do not know my work schedule yet so I cannot say when I will be free to answer but a good bet is 5PM-530PM its usually in between work and school. I receive texts and you are welcome to text me first to see if I can talk but I will not do an entire conversation by text message.lastly: the car doesn't run due to the fuel pump problem so it will need to be towed from my house.thank you for lookingCyril John (CJ)

MMR GT1 20" Silver Wheels

I have had these wheels on for about a Month. They are in near perfect condition (no scratches, curb rash). They roll vibration free. The reason I am selling them is I decided that I prefer the look of double 5 spoke design. I'll probably end up with a Vossen wheel at substantially more cost. I recently went from 19's to 20's and love the look and improved handling. I have mounted on them 245/35's in the front and 275/30's in the rear. They are Toyo T1R's.I plan to keep the tires to put on the new wheels however if desired I'll sell the tires with the wheels as well. The wheels are as follows...20 X 8.5 W/+35mm Offset (Fronts)20 X 10 W/+43mm Offset (Rears)5 X 114.3Front wheels + tires weigh 55.6 pounds. Rear wheels + tires weigh 59.5 pounds. Stock 19's for a M35/45 weigh 51 pounds with tires. The price is $700 OBO plus shipping. They generally go for $1300 so it's a great deal. Here is what they look like...

KA24DE S13 Problem Need help passing smog Please HELP!

OK, my registration has been canceled because I keep failing smog. I failed smog 7 times because I am not burning all the fuel. My spark plugs come out black. I gave my car a complete tune up. It is not smoking at all. It has brand new catalytic converter, brand new o2 sensor and no check engine light. I keep failing by a couple numbers of extra CO2. My car kind of struggles in low RPMS. Then the guy told me my engine might be out of timing. So today I spend the entire day figuring it out and still need help. So this is what I have in my engine specs.I set up my engine to TDC. I am NOT! in 20 degrees stock KA24DE Timing. Then, I followed this image. My cams look like this at TDC.My chain looks like this at TDC.I am following this firing order. My Distributor does NOT look like this!!. Instead it is facing toward piston number 3. how do I fix this problem Thanks

My wife's is complaining about the wind noise on her 2008 350Z. It is almost new. She took it back to the dealer and they told her it was normal. She was driving an Audi convertible, which was pretty quiet, so I don't know if she has a legitimate complaint or not. We can even see light between the top and body in the back. That doesn't seem right. Does anyone have any ideas on how to reduce the wind noise

z24i EFI, TBI, to weber carburetor conversion

I can't find much info on this easy mod, so I'm posting what I've learned. Feel free to correct me on any details here. I wouldn't try this if I had to pass emissions. So I bought an 86 d21 with 72,000 miles on it for $250. It did not run, but had perfect compression and a good spark. After lots of time trying to diagnose the fuel injection, I discovered:I had bad injectors - stuck open, very unusualI had burned capacitors in my eccm - the ones that control the injectorsAll these parts, assuming that nothing else was f'ed up, would cost in the ball park of $800 - $1000. Now enter the Redline Weber...Redline Weber makes several replacement carb kits for the 720 pickup, and the carbureted version of the d21. They do not make a kit for the fuel injected version of the d21. However, all three trucks came with the z24 engine (we're talking about four cylinder here), but the injected z24 is known as the z24i. The differences (that we're concerned with) between the z24 and z24i are: The FI version uses the computer to control the timing on the spark. That thing that looks like a distributor is actually a crank position sensor. On the z24, there is an actual vacuum-advance distributor. The intake manifolds are different.I've gathered that the easiest way to do this swap on a fuel injected truck is to take the intake manifold and the distributor from a carbureted engine and install them on your FI engine. Then change the fuel pump out for something meant to give the 2-3 psi you will need at the carb. The original fuel pump should be pumping close to 22psi, way too much. It willl just flood the carb till gas comes out of your air filter in about 6 seconds.OK so sounds great, but there are issues with this plan. Mainly, availability. I had a hell of a time trying to find those parts. I just don't have time to scour junk yards between two jobs and being a full-time student in Automotive Technology. The fuel pump doesn't score high on difficulty, but there is a much easier, better way.First I took the old TBI unit off, along with the heater (the honey-comb thing) that sits under it. I then test-fitted the new Weber 38 Outlaw that I picked up directly from the company for $338 after shipping. The two studs on the left (left being the drivers side) lined up almost. I widened the the holes in the base of the carb, just a little and it slid down onto the manifold. For some reason, the holes in the adapter plate did not need to be widened.I did end up using the supplied adapter plate because the holes in it line up with some pretty good places to drill and tap some holes. I stuffed some plastic grocery bags down into the intake to catch any metal shavings. I made a guide for the drill using a block of 2x4 and a square. I made a nice dent with a punch and hammer to start the hole and drilled.I tapped the holes to match the adapter kit. This is what I ended up with. Looks funny, but I swear it lines up perfectly.I liberally applied permetex to both sides of the adapter gasket, and used blue threadlock on the bolts. I also ground the top of the bolts a little prior to installation to make sure that they would not stick up. This picture is letting the permetex dry.One of the more difficult parts of this job is tightening the nuts on the carb. Surprising. Btw use some blue threadlock.Throttle cable bracket took a little work with the dremel. Now the fuel delivery system, here's the good news: you can use the existing pump and the return line. You will need a "T" fitting, made of metal preferably that is 6/16". Now hook up fuel inlet to the "t". You will need some restriction in the return line, so find about 1" of 1/4" fuel hose, lube it up real good with some synthetic oil or something, and shove it into the return line. Now hook up your return line to one of the fittings on the "t". That leaves one fitting to run through a fuel filter, adjustable fuel pressure regulator (available at any major parts store) and then into the carb. I also installed a permanent fuel pressure gauge because I was experimenting and this made things easy. That is of course optional, but for $25 it's pretty handy to know what your fuel pressure is.If you look closely at the return line, you can actually see the bulge where the piece of 1/4" hose is. It's just passed the "T".Oh and you'll need to filter your PCV air (1/2-3/4" tube coming off the top of the valve cover. Other than that there are many ways to hook up emissions stuff, all detailed in the instructions that come with the carb. I myself plugged all vacuum lines and it runs perfectly. Better than it ever has.

After lots of time trying to diagnose the fuel injection, I discovered:
I had bad injectors - stuck open, very unusual
I had burned capacitors in my eccm - the ones that control the injectors
All these parts, assuming that nothing else was f'ed up, would cost in the ball park of $800 - $1000. Now enter the Redline Weber...

Redline Weber makes several replacement carb kits for the 720 pickup, and the carbureted version of the d21. They do not make a kit for the fuel injected version of the d21. However, all three trucks came with the z24 engine (we're talking about four cylinder here), but the injected z24 is known as the z24i. The differences (that we're concerned with) between the z24 and z24i are:
The FI version uses the computer to control the timing on the spark. That thing that looks like a distributor is actually a crank position sensor. On the z24, there is an actual vacuum-advance distributor.
The intake manifolds are different.
I've gathered that the easiest way to do this swap on a fuel injected truck is to take the intake manifold and the distributor from a carbureted engine and install them on your FI engine. Then change the fuel pump out for something meant to give the 2-3 psi you will need at the carb.
The original fuel pump should be pumping close to 22psi, way too much. It willl just flood the carb till gas comes out of your air filter in about 6 seconds.
OK so sounds great, but there are issues with this plan. Mainly, availability. I had a hell of a time trying to find those parts. I just don't have time to scour junk yards between two jobs and being a full-time student in Automotive Technology. The fuel pump doesn't score high on difficulty, but there is a much easier, better way.
First I took the old TBI unit off, along with the heater (the honey-comb thing) that sits under it.
What should I take off a 04 Q45 for my 02

Interesting situation...I have a chance to exchange some parts from a crashed up 04 Q45 to put on my 02. My buddy is selling the car to some junk yard. I've already taken the MAF and am planning on exchanging the throttle body since mines is giving a error code of P0505, and the Coil packs. I was thinking of trading the Cat also. What other things would be a good exchange Mines does not have the pedal and ECM update, so what can be taken from the 04 to make mines better I don't know where the ECM is on these cars. thanks in advance

MO: '97 Infiniti I30

For sale is a 1997 Infiniti I30 black on tan leather parts car. The car was involved in a single car accident (hit a streetlight pole) and the following parts broken/totaled: front bumper, front grill, hood, driver fog light, radiator, frame, windshield, roof and passenger taillight. The following is a list of new parts on the car, the majority of which were installed within the last 6 months and have less than 5,000 miles on them: alternator, starter motor, transmission pan, battery, rear driver and passenger brake calipers, rear driver and passenger brake rotors, rear driver and passenger brake pads, front driver and passenger strut mounts, front driver and passenger struts, driver side drive-axle and CV joint/boot, driver and passenger ball joints, front driver and passenger wheel bearings and inner and outer seals, and all 4 tires. The tires are literally almost brand new, less than 500 miles on them (Goodyear Assurance ComforTred - P205/65R/15-80,000 mile tread life). The car is totaled, however the motor (minus the radiator) and transmission still work perfectly. Before the accident the car had no existing mechanical issues, ran and drove perfectly. With the new tires and suspension parts it is/was one of the smoothest riding cars I have ever ridden in. The tires retail for around $115 each ($460 plus tax and mounting) and when combined with the all of the new parts, as well as the rest of the automobile if one had the time and space to do so, could turn a profit off of the parts very easily (or fix your Infiniti I30 or Nissan Maxima). All other parts and electrical systems are fully functional, seats are in good condition, and the undamaged body panels are also in very good condition. Since I have owned the car (4 years, 35,000 miles) I have had no motor or transmission problems, have kept it meticulously well maintained since I owned it and would still be driving it today if possible. Pictures are available upon request. Realistically taking parts off of the car and selling them yourself on ebay or other classifieds you could get a lot out of the car. If you are rebuilding/repairing the car, minus the above list of damaged parts, EVERYTHING on the car works and functions properly. Retail on the total cost of all the new parts that I invested ON TOP of the car when I bought it (ran perfectly at time of purchase) totals more than $2000. Price is best offer! I need this gone please, first REASONABLE offer and the car is yours! $1000 obo E-mail me at bdacn7@umkc.edu with any questions or requests.

I need HELP!!!!

Ok guys, so just bought my 2001 GTR with the RB26 motor. It was backfiring a lot and had a lot of hesitation in higher rpm's while driving. I read that your plugs make a world of difference. So I pulled out the old plugs which were platinums at a heat range of 5 and a gap of 1.1mm. I installed the NGK Irridium IX at a heat range of 7 and a gap of .8mm. so it still backfires when you let off of it and is smokin a bit.....kind of thinkin maybe an injector or ignition system problem or I could be way off......any help from experience would be great. Also the stock GTR monitor in the dash is all in Japanese so I have no clue how to fine tune this car. any way to change that into english Once again, any help would be awesome!!!!Brian.....confused GTR owner

I need a few turbo gaskets and have been able to find cad files for all but the sr downpipe 3 bolt and 3" exhaust gaskets. I was going to make them out of copper. Anyone have any feeling on them I know I remember reading that copper wasn't good for exhaust gaskets but maybe they were refering to head gaskets Also if anyone has cad files on those gaskets give me a shout and if you hook me up I'll make you one. I haven't used cad is years.
