my 3 year old Nissan battery has a habit of corrosion buildup on the positive terminal only.I have the red and green onion rings attached to the posts that are suppose to prevent this, but even after cleaning and coating,it keeps reappearing-any ideas why or how to prevent this?

1) Replace it now to extend alternator life.2) I'd also like to know the answer to this question. Though, after replacing both cables and the battery it seems to have mostly gone away.

I doused my terminals in dielectric grease and have no corrosion.. They gave it to me when i bought it from autozone.. It may be like 50c

Ever since I was a little boy, I sprinkled baking soda all over the place. The sodicum bibarbonate reacts with the sulfuric acid and neutrilizes it. Then I wash it away with a good healthy stream of water for about 2 or 3 minutes from the garden hose. My terminals never get that cruddy green white stuff I see on other peoples cars when I jump them.
