Curious what you guys think of these, be honest, takes a while for new wheels to grow on me.

Is it "I wanna be a Mercedes, I wanna be a Mercedes!!"

or

OK?

Why I drive a 14 year old car;

It's either those (similar) or the 300ZX rims on the short list for me. Looks good.Drunk Munchkins spill a lot, but are entertaining nonetheless; three must be a happy challenge.

I like, but I wonder how the bronze/brown ones I just put on my car would look with a lighter colored body??

Its so weird seeing a Q full of shining happy kids. You usually expect a real estate agent to be driving around a couple, showing them properties.

And those wheels look awesome!

The kids are way cute!

Rims are a personal taste, but I think they could be more lithe. BBS and NISMO do it for me. Can't wait until I can afford some.

You know, it is really difficult to see the wheels of the car while one is driving it. So the question should be, how do they work with the tires you have on them?

Guess I am missing the vain chromosone.

Heavy can you email me @[email protected] regarding the price for your Maxima wheels, Thank you, oh yeah love the OZs, a guy had a pair on Ebay but they were 2 piece with 18x10 in the rear with a 275/40/18 40 offset.

I kinda think I'd like a light bronze finish, too.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment on the wheels.

Geez guys, I don't know what to say about the comments on the kids but thanks again. I'm not sure why I stuck them up there, maybe other than to say "Two 4yo & one 7yo in private school as a single parent is KILLING me, that's why my car is a little rough here & there, plus they were spazzing because I wasn't taking their pic, but rather the car."

Todd, for you brutha' I'll make you a deal you can't refuse.

Hey, HD, have you tried the fitment of the 9" rims on the front?

We know 8.5" will go with 16" and 17" wheels with the correct offsets. But 9" would be ideal, especially in 18". If they fit, please report the wheel's offset. Are they hubcentric, or do they use an adapter ring?

18x9 in front would be next to impossible. I have NO clearance in front from the struts (little nipples on tires actually brush the strut tube) and the outher edge of the tire is approx 1" inboard of fenderwell.

Any wider than 8.5" would likely touch the outer edge of the wheelwell on full compression + turning.

Brian,

The OZ's do use hub rings, and they are soo smooth. Last set of wheels I had that were hubcentric bores was Ronal R9's, a long long time agoi.

Good question, Brian.

I used the 245/45's from the Maxima wheels on both the front & back. Yes, I know it wasn't a perfect solution, but I already had the *brand new* tires.

I was going to sell the OZ's when someone said "Just put the damn things on, you always buy stuff then sell it, you never treat yourself."

So, with the back of the car higher than the front, I figured a 245 on the 9 would level out the car with hardly any perceptible height difference between the two. It worked, and they're not stretched on the 9.

*However*, the 245/45 is too wide on the 8's & every now & then I get a little scrape up front. So, I guess I'm going to sell the Max wheels with the 245's (that fit & worked great) and buy the suggested tire sizes of

245/40 (f)275/35 (r)

Now I have to make a matrix of which of the available tires will get me the closest to the original 26.1" installed height.

Looks like I'm going to be 3-4 10ths/inch short with the available choices.

Notice there is a Michelin Pilot Sport 255/40-18 99Y XL 220 AA A 1709 lbs. $258 on Special.

I think your experiment is convincing me to go no larger than 17". Thank you for the information.

I assume your front tire is hitting on the outside?

So, as an expert, do you think the rings will work long term?

Brian

I really like the staggered design... 17x8 in the front and 18X9 in the rear is really nice... The tire well is very filled, and the car still sits level

245/45/17 in the front and 245/40/18 in the rear.. But it does eliminate the possibility of rotating... And with pricey tires that is kinda bad.....

Thanks, but I'm no expert, at least when it comes to this. Most of you guys here have dealt with wheel/tire stuff more than I have. I usually call friends in the biz & ask what they've experienced first hand.

The 245/45 is *just barely* scraping the outer edge of the front fender liner on hard compression with Pro-Kits & Tokico's.

I'm not aware of too many mass produced wheels that are hubcentric these days. Save for Forgeline, HRE, Kinesis, Fikse (maybe). Even BBS LM's use rings (they all it a PFS kit). They are out there, but mostly custom & very expensive.

When I had 16x8 Ronal R9's that were produced hubcentric on my 77 1/2 Z28, I thought I was big dog. That, of course, was when only the Conquest/Starion & the Corvette had 16's.

The rings fit snugly in the wheel & in the case of the OZ's, I tried the rings on the hubs before installing in the wheels and found them to be spot on.

There's more options with 17's, true. There's even more options with the narrower 17's or 18's. It appears when you go 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10 is when the fun begins.

I do know the aspect ratio numbers vary quite a bit when looking at the specs & actual installed height & section width on X rim width between manufacturers. I'm direct with Michelin BFG so I try to seek them out when I can. I'm going to spend some time this weekend comparing specs of everything I can find.

You're making me hurt, HD!

Bet the Impul 17x8.5 LM BBS are hub-centric. Unfortunately, they seem to have an exclusive on them. Nismo are almost attainable. This is going to be very expensive, especially with the big brake kit front and rear.

You mean Brian is going to upgrade to something else the nissan engineers didnt put on the car to start with... They're never wrong, so why upgrade the already perfect design...

The Impuls are HC produced for real? If you don't know for certain, I'd be willing to bet $1 they aren't. All in fun, of course.

I have an 'in' at BBS NA, I'll give it a shot if you'd like. Although if it's truly proprietary, I'll state now it may be a no-go.

NISMO? Steve Christiansen has done more with the nearly dead arm of Nissan than anyone in it's history combined. He is, without a doubt, singlehandedly responsible for the revival of the performance side of our brands.

If anyone remembers SMC, they (he) manufactured killer Kwikstop Velocity Reduction (KVR) Wilwood brake kits for everything from the lowly B series to all S's, Z's and more. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in your life.

And, we should converse privately if the NISMO brand is what you want. Be ready if I initiate a call though.

Wes, we know you were kidding & I love you like a little brother, seriously, but there's upgrades for the sake of a change, and there's upgrades. The level Brian's contemplating is the difference between 17 you, 37 me and if I may hazard a guess.....47?

BBS LeMans wheels, or RAYS (Volk, NISMO, Mugen, TRD, MazdaSpeed, Subaru Techinca International) Ferrari F50 calipers, Brembo rotors, front, J30 (or aftermarket) rear brakes is another league for both of us, Wes. You have to study hard, I have to work harder. For Brian, it's his time.
