Hi!

Im moving to the states(Florida, Orlando) in january from Norway, and I have started looking for a car, It brought me to this site.In Norway I have 2 s13 with ca engines, one is benched to 271rwhp.Im looking for a s13 or s14, with either a sr or a rb25 engine.I need the car to be ready to drive and in good shape when I get there. My questions:

1.Where can I get a car like this, all I find is stock cars!

2.How much should I expect to spend on it

3.Is engine swaps/modding legal? I dont want to get in trouble with the sniffer(not a good idea when you are new in the country):rolleyes

4.How is it with insurance, Is it expensive?

Im thankfull for all the info I can get!!

Hi! welcome to the boards =)

1. try the classifieds here in the boards. some sell with sr or rbs. or just get a hold on a stock s13 or s14 then try to build sr or rb in it. theres a lot of shops in florida doing the swap now.

2. depends on the mods its about 7k and up

3. its illegal. but since your in florida, they are very lax about emmisions. they dont do the sniffer test. yay florida!

4. depends on your age, how long you've been driving and your driving record. not sure here but since you are from another country, you might have a clean record here. plus, if you drive on the wrong side of the street, i bet your insurance will go way up... hahahaha... j/k:D

and welcome to the U.S.A.!

Thx for the tips! It really helped!

Why is it that sr is so much more popular then the rb25? The weight difference is not that big, and you have the sound of a 6r:cool: The $-hp is not that big difference either, I would pay that extra to get that sound

We drive on the right side in Norway:ylsuper

And the insurance is more expensive for a foreigner then It is for a 16 year old, who just got his licence... How much would I expect to pay then??

I have to laugh at the prices in USA, buying and owning a car is so cheap!! Im SOO looking forwards to get over the pond and live there!!Im selling my car s13 90mod 100000mileage in ok shape for 14000usd! YEAH!:pface

Note to self...Start exporting S13's to Norway

You should be able to find a nice SR or RB powered S14 with $14 grand. If youve never had insurance in the US before, your rates will be higher. But only for the first coverage period. After that, I should be lower. And no income tax in FL. Bet thats a big change...

Edit: XAT Racing is in FL (Tampa, I think). They sell 240s with swaps done at their shop.
