could be the time control unit. it's located in the driver side footwell next to the fusebox. it controls how fast the blinkers are supposed to blink

On almost all cars, one fast blinker is a sign that either one of the light bulbs is out or there is a short in one of the blinkers, causing it to act like the bulb in that blinker is out.

Every now and then one of my blinkers will do the same thing. When it happens, I'll go look at the blinker doing it and it is just a loose bulb.

Try taking the signal cover off and slightly moving the bulb a few times. My guess is it should fix it. If not, the bulb is out and should be replaced.

FYI the reason most riced out cars have fast blinkers is because the body kits they usually install, usually cover the side blinker lights. With no side lights, the other bulbs see less resistance in the circuit and thus cycle at a faster rate.

I was struck with this revelation just the other day and that's why I chimed in here. Also, I could never understand why it always seemed like the snow was blowing in my face when I snowboard, until my friend Luke said that it was because we were moving at a faster rate than the snow itself! Duh.

What do you expect, I'm a Physicist.......all we do is sit around and think about theoretical stuff!

MINE TOO!!! I have a 91 and the driver's side blinker does the same. I have also replaced the bulbs and no cigar! What gives?? Ok, so what about the control unit? Change it, is there a fix, do I just go back to sticking my arm out the window? (LOL).

Please help!

isn't that just common sense? like driving in the rain? like if the rain is falling light and stright down and you drive through it at 45mph it seems to be coming down harder.

i guess it is true...the more you know the less you know. like math...the higher i get in math the worse my adding, subtracting and all that is.

actually, most Honda ricers buy supposed 'JDM' blinker relays that just speed up the cycle of flashes. but i have seen some like you have stated as well. :)

Make sure the bulbs are actually lighting up when you turn on the signal. If they are, make sure the bulb sizes are correct. Using a smaller bulb in place of the original is one way people speed up their blinkers.

USDM240,

That's good to know! I didn't realize that "JDM blinker relays" were even something that you could buy! I'm going to add that to my list of sayings when I run across a guy in a Civic!!

".....Oh man, those JDM blinker relays are the HOTNESS!!...."

yup yup, i don't think it's the timing control unit @ all... u just haveta inspect all the bulbs...if u already checked the affected side.

heck, try switching the left side to the right side & see what happens... front & back...
