What tires for QX4?

What are the best looking tires for a QX4? I have to put a new set on my 2002 and want it to look good. A smoother ride would also be a good thing. Anyone got any pictures or input?

Pirelli Scorpion AT or BFG All Terrain T/A KO.

If he wants a smoother ride then the All Terrain's are out of the question, the 8 ply sidewalls are stiff.

I'd go with a Michelin for ride quality... and what sort of look are you going for? Offroad or just a cool tread design?

True- I missed the "smoother ride" part.

Pirelli used to make a tire called the scorpion ST. It was a great all-weather 90% street SUV tire. Try calling tire rack and see if they have a current equavalent, or call Pirelli or a reputible pirelli dealer and ask the same thing.

I do not like Michelin tires b/c they get so-so grip, in my experience.

my ranking of "on road use" SUV tires:-Michelin Cross Terrain SUV (great ride and wet weather grip, good treadwear)-Michelin LTX M/S (stiffer ride than the cross terrain, still great..better suited for the occasional dirt trail, etc..still awesome treadwear..many customers of mine get 60k plus from them)-Pirelli Scorpion STR (good quiet ride, a bit firm, good handling)

after that maybe the yokohama geolander...grant should weigh in on this as well..

Scorpion STR or STR A. About $95 each on tirerack. Seems to be a lot like my old ST tires. The regular STR design is the Euro design, which looks more like mine than does the STR A.

I always forget abotu the cross-terrain.

I never liked the Michelins for the same reason that your customers love them- durability of their compounds makes for less traction, in my experience with them.

The Goodyear fortera is also highly rated, but the Michelins or Pirellis are better choices, from what I know about them.

Blackwall all of the way, unless you actually wheel it a lot. For some reason those guys like the RWL or OWL look.
