Has anyone here dealt with KFG Enterprises? They seem kind of odd to me since their SR20DET specs seem to be straight from Heavy Throttle and their pictures don't appear very clear. I was wondering if anyone could share any experiences. They claim the 2JZ wieghs only a hundred pounds more than the KA. I haven't found any reputable hard numbers on this motor so is this true?

I've read what others have said concerning the 2JZ swap into a 240 but I'm still interested. It would be easier to pass emissions here in the TX metroplex, and I don't live incredibly far from Power House Racing and MVP Motorsports, both specialize in Toyota Supras, and parts are much easier to come by than for the RB26 here in the states. If parts for the Nissan RB's were as proliferate as those for the SR20 then it wouldn't be to hard of a choice since I prefer the I6 layout. The only real problem with the JZ, it seems, is actually getting it in under the Nissan hood.

Obviously one could respond with "if you want a Supra buy a Supra" but it's sort of the "bird in the hand" deal. Plus the 240sx handles great and weighs around a thousand pounds less than the Supra and it doesn't have the insurance bill of the Toyota.

Any ideas?

They definately lack website building ability, but then again I know alot of people that are absolute tuning gods but couldn't build a website to save their ***.

PHR doesn't work on Nissans... and MVP Motorsports doesn't do swaps. I know the guys up there and they are good guys though. Talk to Frank if you need some parts.

Yeah, I know they don't work on Nissans. They work on Toyotas and they probably wouldn't mind working on a JZ in a Nissan. It's sort of a make some money or make no money issue.

I can do the swap myself since the 240 isn't my daily driver.

You're right, they are great people. I got my coilovers, and seats, and tie rods from them.

Do you have any advice on swapping odd ball engines into the S13 chassis, in general? This could be for 305's, 350's, anything which isn't normal and was sold state side basically.

Edit: Obviously the JZ would require a custom drive shaft and mounts for both the engine and transmission. As well as a custom wiring harness and a JZ ECU. If KFG is real then they supply all of this in their "basic" install according to the FAQ I was sent.

Make ABSOLUTELY sure that swaping a Toyota motor into a Nissan is legal. From what I understand, it's not legal, but may be different in your area.

I dont think it would be legal anywhere- 240sx's are too new and its a non nissan motor

There's a guy around where I live with a 350 in a 240 according to B&B Muffler and he passed. It doesn't matter that the engine is from a differant manufacturer as long as the engine isn't older than the car it would be going into. In this case a '94 or newer 2JZ going into a '90 240sx. That would be legal as long as it would pass emissions for the toyota motor. Now from what I can tell the SR swap is illegal because it doesn't have any emissions to beat. However, I have talked to a State Trooped I know and he didn't think anything would be wrong with the Japanese motor as long as it would pass emissions. What this might mean is it could be possible, in texas at least, to emissions test a 240 with a SR20DET in it by telling the emissions worker to put SR20DE into their computer when they start the test. I've been told by one emissions shop that when the computer asks them what kind of car it then asks for the engine type from a list and at the end of that list is "other" which allows them to run any engine in their database that is newer than the car being tested through emissions testing.

I've almost decided to go KAT though. However, I still want to track down the guy with the 350 swap in Johnson County, TX and look at his car. Those KAT guys can really be convincing.

Does anyone know about firewall issues with the 2jz swap. Where will the shift knob sit? I think these are really the most important questions to ask. I think if these to questions can be answered then it would make this swap do-able. Wireing should be simple, ignition, alternator, fuel pump.
